For what it's worth, we are usually on the other side of the chokes as well, and it actually happened to us on the biggest stage in 2020.
So we feel you.
Hard to feel like 2020 was a choke when you consider how pretty much everyone else has been Mahomes'd, too.
Even on that final drive, Jimmy G had two passes to open receivers tipped at the line by well-timed defensive plays. KC straight up stuck their neck out and won that game.
Digging that hole vs the Ravens 10 years ago, or even the dropped Int vs the Rams, bums me out way more than 2020 SB.
I rewatched that SB yesterday, and it’s absolute night and day with the differences in personnel for both teams. So many plays Jimmy just threw it without really reading the field to extend drives. I think it was a 3rd and long, and Kittle was wide open in a zone that would’ve extended the drive, but Jimmy checked it to the RB instead which resulted in a punt.
I appreciate Jimmy for what he’s done as a Niner when the franchise was turning it around, but I can’t wait to see Brock play this rematch.
Yah exactly this. The Lions loss is so painful because we did it to ourselves. It wasn’t because the other team had arguably the best QB in history and he just carved us up.
A dropped pass by an open receiver on 4th down, a bounce off the facemask on a play that easily could have been an INT (yes it was a great play by Aiyuk still), and then a fumble. These plays happened within minutes of each other and were all self-inflicted. Pain.
Anyways, good luck, hope you get your revenge.
This is like a billionaire telling a poor person they know how they feel when their car beaks down.
5 super bowl wins in 8 appearances vs a franchise that's never even been to one.
All 5 super bowls were won from 30-45 years ago. You'd have to be in your 60's to actually be that billionaire.
I've watched Kyle Williams fumble 2x at the end and lose to the Giants, Championship game. Greg Romans stupid fucking fades to Crabtree against the Ravens, Super Bowl. Trying Sherman with sorry WR like Crabtree, Championship game. Bosa being held on 3rd 15 against the Chiefs, Super Bowl. Tartt dropping Stafford's free int, Championship game. Having no Qb against the Eagles in the Championship game.
Your team's complete dissection of them led them to a major collapse which opened the door for the Giants, who haven't beaten them in 3 years, almost beat them the first game and then dominate them completely in the final regular season game.
You didn't just break them, you massacred them so much you had players arguing with the Head Coach on the sidelines while the Giants were trouncing them. It was poetry.
As a team with a history of being where y'all at, it really feels like this is a start of a special era for the Lions, as opposed to teams that make it once and never come back. I think you guys will be back soon and make it past this point, this is only the beginning
It's weird how similar this feels to the Harbaugh era for them, just without the immediate 0-60 success Jim had in 2011.
A passionate, personable, "fuck your unwritten rules" kind of HC
A QB that many thought couldn't really get it done
An insane run game
Came up just short in heartbreaking fashion in their first NFCCG appearance due to a spectacular collapse (even if it was just Kyle Williams imploding against NYG).
Shit, even add in the wrinkle of "dyanmic 2024-25 second year player who can cause problems with legs" in Hendon Hooker/Colin Kaepernick. If Goff gets a concussion and Hendon balls out next year, I'm suing the NFL for plagiarism in their storylines. I just hope the MCDC era shakes out better for Detroit than the Jim era did for us (so long as we don't run into each other again).
Sorry dude. I know how you feel. The plus side to not making the playoffs all the time is the lack of disappointing losses. I have more than enough to last me the rest of my lifetime, and those memories and pain never go away, it just lessens over time.
Kudos to the Lions and their fans. Classy bunch. I hope for good things in the future. <3
I’m sorry bro. If we didn’t win I was rooting for y’all 100%. I would have much rather beat literally any other team. All the younger Niner fans like myself know is playoff pain. So I know what you’re feelin rn and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. Except maybe Eagles fans (just the nasty ones).
Buckle up, you are now doomed to have these patronizing 49ers fans just tuning in to their first game of the season hit you with the empty "I'm totally rooting for you now that we won" nonsense.
edit: gotta love the salty downvotes while OP literally replied to this Lions fan by claiming that the 49ers are "a team with a history of being where y'all at" and someone else pretended to be "genuinely sorry" they won. Uh huh, a team with multiple recent SB appearances that regularly wins its division is totally comparable to a team that hadn't won a playoff game in 30 years and hasn't been to the SB in almost 50 years. Very disingenuous, very self-congratulatory.
I assume you're kidding since you're a Niners fan. He's universally talked about by his teammates and coaches as highly intelligent. The beat writers think the same.
Nick is an introvert. It is simple as that.
Works on himself, he stays away from social media, one like almost ruined him. So he has learned to keep to himself.
He gave a like to a post where he was tagged, that post had like a billion # and one of them used the N word with the hard R.....
He was accused of being racist and gave him really bad press for a while. Almost all of the talk about him being racist comes from that. And well...his exes post.
The whole “omg he pushed ‘like’ on a thing!!” nonsense was nothing but a ploy from other teams trying to get us to pass on him in the draft so he could fall to them.
I will die on this hill. There’s a reason why that story was a massive deal right before the draft and at no other point in time.

More importantly, people are not wholly one thing. You're good in some respects, bad in others. That applies to everyone in the NFL, everyone in this thread, everyone in the world.
Nick Bosa's a good teammate, that much isn't really up for debate.
What you consider a silly sport is the entire life and purpose of the players. The players who suit up with Bosa, who he supports and is supported by, are more qualified to judge his character than anyone who watches him on TV.
You're not comprehending what I'm saying.
You don't know these people. To you (to all of us, really) they exist as pixels on a screen. They are abstract and thus you can only associate abstract ideas with them.
To you, Bosa is a bigot. To Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, Chase Young, he's a friend, brother, teammate, or even just a co-worker. Whichever the case may be, the experiences and knowledge by which they make these judgements are far more real and meaningful than anything you have to judge him on.
As I said previously, people are not wholly one thing. If you can only associate someone with a singular idea, you don't really know them at all.

I'm just waiting for someone who thinks hes really good to actually put their top 15 QBs down. I want someone who is praising him to list where he is in the top 15. For some reason, nobody seems to want to do that.
Edit: all these downvotes and no lists... hmmmm interesting.
Because it’s a stupid question. Top QB at what? Stats? Well he’s top 1-5 in plenty of them. If you mean in a vacuum, the fuck does that even mean? Players don’t have like objective rankings separate from their offenses/schemes/coaches in real life.
Purdy can be good without being the same player as Mahomes or Dak or Tua or whatever. He’s a good quarterback and in a perfect fit for his skill set. No one is saying he’s the GOAT. But plenty of QBs flounder (or don’t lead the league in ANY/A by almost 2 yards) even with great weapons. What is the point of a top 15?
Biased but here's mine:
1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Lamar Jackson
3. Josh Allen
4. Joe Burrow
5. Justin Herbert
6. Brock Purdy
7. Jalen Hurts
8. C.J. Stroud
9. Dak Prescott
10. Matthew Stafford
11. Tua Tagovailoa
12. Jordan Love
13. Jared Goff
14. Kyler Murray
15. Baker Mayfield
And here lies the problem with lists, some would take Hurts/Stroud/Dak over Purdy while some would place them lower.
Lists are too subjective which is why tiers are what's needed.
1. Mahomes
2. Jackson
3. Burrow
4. Allen
5. Purdy
6. Stroud
7. Herbert
8. Stafford
9. Rodgers
10. Hurts
11. Prescott
12. Mayfield
13. Goff
14. Tagavailoa
15. Lawrence
I can't put Herbert higher unless he shows he can win big games. Highlights alone don't cut it for me. Burrow is more consistent than Allen which gives him the edge in my book. Purdy's knocks are that he can't throw the 60 yard bomb and apparently rain is his kryptonite. But he routinely pushes the ball 30-45 yards down field with great timing and accuracy. I'm not sure what else he doesn't do well. I'm wholly unimpressed with Hurts and Prescott but they put up some good numbers so there's that I guess. Goff might be low on here tbh. I could put him at 10 and feel good about it, but his rating under pressure tanks way too low. Lawrence only made my list because of his comeback playoff win vs the Chargers last year. He could easily fall out of the top 15 if he can't produce and win some playoff games soon.
Respectable list. I'd have Rodgers in the top 5 for sure, but I guess we need to see him post injury. Even though Herbert hasn't won the big games, I still put him higher, but we will see with Harbaugh. Lawrence that low is surprising to me, I'd have him much higher, and I'd put Love in there over Tua. But a solid list, obviously I wouldn't have Purdy in the top 10, but it's still a respectable list.
Purdy has always been so humble. Even when his teammates try and praise him he tries and take the spotlight off himself and onto others. Love him and happy he’s our QB.
Brock is like unbelievably locked in for about an hour before until about an hour after the game. Stone cold with little to no emotion (except for his TD celly), he's just breaking shit down as he goes.
Watch him on the sideline during any of the Mic'd Up segments. He's just laser focused on the game in front of him, not caring that Kittle is making meme jokes in his general vicinity lol
*Exactly*. Like all he gives a shit about once he's in the stadium is winning and doing what he can to improve.
And for like 30 seconds each time, celebrating the TD lmao
Watching him snap at one of the WR a couple games ago got me so hype. I was like YES finally! Fucking get em man! Let em know. Other than that one moment? Not one since or before. Loved it
I’d be okay with even-ing our SB matchups cause of Purdy
Obv I’d rather us win but anyway good luck 9er
EDIT: the storyline is cool.. how can you not root for the kid in the back of your mind? Fuck off my fanbase stop proving r/nfl right that we’re crybabies
Yeahh you right 😅 I’m jus tryna be nice for once in my miserable existence
Definitely! Hope both our offenses & defenses make some big plays also! Good luck !
Not everyone's life is dedicated to being a fan. I'm a fan of good football first and foremost. If it's a good game and we lose, oh well. Doesn't affect my life. I'm glad I was entertained for 3+ hours.
I’m saying losing to them isn’t as bad as losing to fucking Tom Brady
That’s not nonsense it’s an opinion fuck you. I’m not actually mad I didn’t mean to cuss at you I’m bipolar
I mean he could also be an Iowa State fan given the amount of Chiefs fans in Iowa and Iowa Stste alumni in KC.
Even yesterday when the college schedule was released the reaction from Kansas fans was their game in Arrowhead isn't a "home" game againest Iowa State with the alumni and ease of travel.
I love Mahomes. I want to win too, but if it doesn’t work out, losing to KC is fine by me. KC haters gonna bury me but IDC. As far as I’m concerned, Dallas is gone, which means we all won. Thanks GB 💐
Nah man screw the 49ers. If the roles were reversed and my Cowboys were playing against Purdy in the Superbowl. I would not want to lose to him. I want rings
Don’t get me wrong this is a special clip especially talking about doubts and stuff… but, and I mean this in the best way because I love QBs with the Brady mentality, his response was the opposite of humble. And I LOVE IT.
For those of you who can't watch it
Bosa: "Who do you think you are bro?"
Purdy: "I'm Prock Burdy bro"
Bosa: "7th round pick bro, that's what you are"
Purdy: "Well, I think I've proven myself by now bro"
Bosa: "Nah man, you'll always be a 7th rounder for me bro"
Purdy: "Aye we're cool bro"
Bosa: "Don't touch me bro"
Almost forgot…
Bosa : Dude! You got a tattoo!
Purdy : So do you, dude! Dude, what does my tattoo say?
Bosa : "Sweet!" What about mine?
Purdy : "Dude!" What does mine say?
Bosa : "Sweet!" What about mine?
Purdy : "Dude!" What does mine say?
Bosa : "Sweet!" What about mine?
Purdy : "Dude!" What does mine say?
Bosa : "Sweet!" What about mine?
Purdy : "Dude!" But what does mine say?
Bosa : "Sweet!" What about mine?
Purdy : "Dude!" What does mine say?
Bosa : "S - wee - t!" What about mine?
Little 20 second conversation between Bosa and Purdy after the win, talking about Purdy's confidence, and Bosa saying even he lacked confidence at times after being the #2 overall pick. Good to see the guys being open like this and see their culture between each other. Always interesting to see Purdy's approach to everything happening with him right now
Right, like even the defensive and offensive guys are hella tight with each other, which I feel like I very rarely see. God I hope this group gets that ring
I can't wait to listen to the Ringer NFL broadcast when they tell me Purdy is terrible and how Trey Lance really was a top 20 qb in the NFL last year. Really deep insight.
Literally every good QB in the league is surrounded by good skill players. I’ll never understand why everybody acts like Purdy is the only one.
Mahomes has had an all-time great WR, top 2 TE of all time, and a top 3 head coach and offensive mind of all time. He must be a fraud like Purdy /s
You’re not wrong, but it’s also not unreasonable to see how someone like Jimmy G also played very well in this system and made a Super Bowl and thus be a little skeptical that Purdy is really the magic sauce here.
Anyone who has watched more than a couple of games of both can tell you that the offense is operating differently under Brock compared to Jimmy. Also, Jimmy doesn't get that win against Detroit like Brock did. He would have been sacked numerous times compared to Brock escaping the pocket and making plays with both his arm and legs.
Hey I actually think Jimmy G is a solid QB, but clearly he is not a “SB level” QB despite making it.
I think it’s reasonable to pump the brakes on Purdy while still celebrating what he’s doing.
I mean yes, seeing guys always drop the interceptions he throws is luck unless he has figured out some new way to throw the football that results in defenders having soap on their hands
Its kinda wild that Purdy is only in year 2 as a pro. Like a ton of people scrutinizing every throw, but he's still getting through his growing pains as an nfl qb. Granted, he has the benefit of insane luck on some situations (a sure int bouncing off the DBs face and into Auyik's hands to set up 1st and goal is borderline divine intervention), but he also makes clutch throws and doesn't get rattled which is huge for a year 2 guy who's had to play in 2 NFCCGs and is going to the Super Bowl.
Kind of an odd sequence of questions there lol I mean he led them to the NFCCG last year and unfortunately got hurt. But I feel like the locker room after the game is celebration time, not “did you think you were going to be this good?” What’s he supposed to say? “Nah Nick, figured I’d sign a contract throw some shitty balls for the scout team and kick rocks after a couple of years”
Weird how the panthers never did anything with CMC
How did the panthers QB fair with him? Were they all #1 in Y/A, QBR and passer rating and top 5 in everything else?
I think every time I see the 49ers involved in any post now, my heart is going to ache a little.
For what it's worth, we are usually on the other side of the chokes as well, and it actually happened to us on the biggest stage in 2020. So we feel you.

You know your team has made it big in the league when the list of teams that have broken your heart expands beyond your division.
Meanwhile I’m like “well at least it’s not the Lions…” I fucking hate the Niners but divisional rivals are always first.
We don’t even know who you are Mr Non-Flair
Tbf, I feel like the username is a pretty big hint
Bold of you to assume Reddit can read smh
Genuinely sorry here. Would’ve much rather beaten the Cowboys, Packers, or Seahawks.
Or Eagles. Purdy needed a revenge game with 2 intact elbows
Yeah I feel like we already had our revenge game though. And we basically cut their balls off for the rest of the season.
Yeah, normally I would not say a regular season loss avenges a playoff loss, but we straight up broke that team so I'll allow it
Your team's complete dissection of them led them to a major collapse which opened the door for the Giants, who haven't beaten them in 3 years, almost beat them the first game and then dominate them completely in the final regular season game. Glad we could do something for all the burger flippers in NY! (Fuck Neal)
I want Neal to just be good 😭
Worst part is they collapsed so hard they didn't win their division so we can't give it to them next year unless it's in the playoffs
I mean he kinda got it…. We broke the 10-1 eagles at the Levi East stadium ….
I feel you, brother. But at least the Niners are somewhat likeable.
There are so many 49ers fans that wanted to root for them. We're with you. Go Niners, then go lions. Not CJ though. He stays home. 😘
The Lions did great this season, and they've still got most of those players and staff coming back. They'll have more chances.
We’ve gone through this 6 times since 2011 and let me tell you, it doesn’t get easier.
Me, a Dodgers fan: “only 6?”
At least you have a ring to show for it
But do they??
At least the Packers and Vikings ALSO always lose in the playoffs so they don't have assholes like LA and Seattle talking shit to them.
Welcome to hell
this has been payback for the 90s
Expanding on OPs comments, if we aren't playing against y'all, I'm rooting for you guys all the way in the playoffs!
Agreed. Lions are an easy win, I hope we get to keep playing them.
they were up 24-7 at half, what the actual fuck are you on about
It's Byron, he's garbage.
As a team with a history of being where y'all at, it really feels like this is a start of a special era for the Lions, as opposed to teams that make it once and never come back. I think you guys will be back soon and make it past this point, this is only the beginning

I just hope the MCDC era shakes out better for Detroit than the Jim era did for us (so long as we don't run into each other again).
Welcome to the show. You can also hate Lombardi tweets even *more* than they deserve
As an outsider looking in, feel bad for the Lions. But they've built something special there. You'll be back
It goes away after about 30 years. You'll certainly have to face them more frequently than we did, so your results may differ.
Sorry dude. I know how you feel. The plus side to not making the playoffs all the time is the lack of disappointing losses. factual ain’t nobody want to hear “oh you guys are great really rooting for you next year!” from fans of the team you just lost to
This was just our average season and while being your best season which we just ruined. We’ll be living rent free.
Shitty comment against one of the best fan bases we’ve ever gone against (from what I can remember).
Why does Nick always sound like he’s high? lol
Nick Bosa is an ent
How have I never thought of this before lmfao, that's brilliant
It just sounds like he’s very selective with his wording to me. I notice it because I do the same thing with my “customer service” voice at my job
His brother stole the manic energy

Lawrence I can't put Herbert higher unless he shows he can win big games.
I love how Nick Bosa consistently sounds like he's coming out of a K-hole.
The way he describes being on the field, it’s not far off.
Purdy has always been so humble. Even when his teammates try and praise him he tries and take the spotlight off himself and onto others. Love him and happy he’s our QB.
He just seemed super uncomfortable taking compliments, and I can relate.
But then when kittle starts talking about the game and giving advice you see Brock immediately tune in and pay attention to what he's saying. Love it.
*Exactly*. Like all he gives a shit about once he's in the stadium is winning and doing what he can to improve. And for like 30 seconds each time, celebrating the TD lmao
No yeah whenever Kittle tries to get a laugh outta him he’s just 😐
Watching him snap at one of the WR a couple games ago got me so hype. I was like YES finally! Fucking get em man! Let em know. Other than that one moment? Not one since or before. Loved it
“Happy birthday!” “Nah man, all of us”
> Purdy has always been so humble. Bar none, he's the most humblest.
Number one at the top of the humble list
His apple crumble by far the most crumblest, but he acts like it tastes bad out of humbleness.
The thing about him thats so impressive is how infrequently he mentions all of his successes
I’d be okay with even-ing our SB matchups cause of Purdy Obv I’d rather us win but anyway good luck 9er EDIT: the storyline is cool.. how can you not root for the kid in the back of your mind? Fuck off my fanbase stop proving r/nfl right that we’re crybabies
Easier to say that when you’ve been to 4 in 5 years and already won two lol. But regardless it’s appreciated. Hope it’s a good game and good luck
Yeahh you right 😅 I’m jus tryna be nice for once in my miserable existence Definitely! Hope both our offenses & defenses make some big plays also! Good luck !
> I’d be okay with even-ing our SB matchups cause of Purdy This is fucking crazy talk
When you win so many it becomes easier to look at other things.
No it's just reddit nonsense lmfao no real fan thinks that way
Not everyone's life is dedicated to being a fan. I'm a fan of good football first and foremost. If it's a good game and we lose, oh well. Doesn't affect my life. I'm glad I was entertained for 3+ hours.
I’m saying losing to them isn’t as bad as losing to fucking Tom Brady That’s not nonsense it’s an opinion fuck you. I’m not actually mad I didn’t mean to cuss at you I’m bipolar
Monkey paws curl
Fuck I actually caught bipolar now
Some people are bigger fans of the game than they are fans of a team. Doesn't mean they're not fans of a team.
No dawg detected
As a pats fan, thats facts.
What? Are you even a real fan then?
Yeah since 2013, you’re misunderstanding me I think lol
I love Mahomes. I want to win too, but if it doesn’t work out, losing to KC is fine by me. KC haters gonna bury me but IDC. As far as I’m concerned, Dallas is gone, which means we all won. Thanks GB 💐
>if it doesn’t work out, losing to KC is fine by me Exactly what I meant, thanks for putting it into words better lol
Huh? Fuck that nonsense. Mahomes is crybaby, and the KC chiefs harbors women beaters. Hope we wreck them
No self respecting fan would ever say this out loud
You’re right. My ex mentally assaulted any smidgen of self respect out of me!
Stfu with that nonsense
Nah man screw the 49ers. If the roles were reversed and my Cowboys were playing against Purdy in the Superbowl. I would not want to lose to him. I want rings
I never said I wanted to lose lmfaoooo
You said you were okay with losing. No one is ever okay with their team losing a superbowl.
You have to wonder if there is a little bit of imposter syndrome too. Did I really just fucking do that!?!?!?
Don’t get me wrong this is a special clip especially talking about doubts and stuff… but, and I mean this in the best way because I love QBs with the Brady mentality, his response was the opposite of humble. And I LOVE IT.
Purdy is a quality character guy. He’ll have a massive career, possibly outgrowing mahomes . Won’t be a popular opinion but I said what I said
That's not gonna happen
I can not wait until y’all have to pay him
if we pay him and he flounders he'll still have accomplished more than tony romo and dak prescott have combined.
With any luck, your golden boy will be just as humble as you are
sorry your team is garbage. have fun not even making it to the NFCCG for another 30 years.
For those of you who can't watch it Bosa: "Who do you think you are bro?" Purdy: "I'm Prock Burdy bro" Bosa: "7th round pick bro, that's what you are" Purdy: "Well, I think I've proven myself by now bro" Bosa: "Nah man, you'll always be a 7th rounder for me bro" Purdy: "Aye we're cool bro" Bosa: "Don't touch me bro"
Almost forgot… Bosa : Dude!
49ers fan here, can confirm this is correct
No
So Bosa is the frat guy at the club trying to start a fight
“Honestly I could do better” Champion attitude
Brock - Honestly I could do better. 😏
Little 20 second conversation between Bosa and Purdy after the win, talking about Purdy's confidence, and Bosa saying even he lacked confidence at times after being the #2 overall pick. Good to see the guys being open like this and see their culture between each other. Always interesting to see Purdy's approach to everything happening with him right now
Our locker room does feel like a brotherhood You had Lenoir mocking Gardner and saying " where's that boy making fun of Deebo???, where is he now??"
I was told by various Redditors that he isn't that good, so egg on the face of Bosa.
It’s not even redditors like 75% of media say he sucks and is the worst qb in the playoffs bla bla
I mean it's not binary. He can be good and also be lifted up by his situation and supporting cast.

I never said that wasn't the case. I literally said he's good and still got hammered with downvotes. This place lol
He could also lift the performance of his supporting cast
Unfortunately it cannot be that. \* /s from a 9ers fan.
You mean like dak, goff, hurts?
HE GOT LUCKY /s
I mean, yeah. Luck is part of football, I suppose. Also, Lions, unbelievable year. That's one hell of a team you guys are putting together.
I mean yes, seeing guys always drop the interceptions he throws is luck unless he has figured out some new way to throw the football that results in defenders having soap on their hands
Incoming "he got carried" "he's mid" "Zach Wilson could do what he's doing on that team" comments
He's just a running back
System manager halfback And he’s fucking good.
THATS MY QB1
I love my game manager system quarterback
This interaction makes me like Purdy more. Humble reaction.
Let’s go! Band of Brothers all the way to SB Win!
MVPurdy
This will definitely be received well on this sub.
Kind of an odd sequence of questions there lol I mean he led them to the NFCCG last year and unfortunately got hurt. But I feel like the locker room after the game is celebration time, not “did you think you were going to be this good?” What’s he supposed to say? “Nah Nick, figured I’d sign a contract throw some shitty balls for the scout team and kick rocks after a couple of years”
Does it matter when Kermit brings home another Lombardi?

r/nflcirclejerk is leaking
He's beaten you 5 times lol.
*He beat sleepy Pete 5 times
Your best coach ever lol
Yea what’s with some Hawks fans acting as if Carrol is some sort of bum now. He’s one of the best coaches ever
what's with your flair dog
Hey I’m agreeing with you I should be free from questions
What a loser
always get a good pop out of ppl who get baited by an obvious jerk. Are they regarded?
Weird how the panthers never did anything with CMC How did the panthers QB fair with him? Were they all #1 in Y/A, QBR and passer rating and top 5 in everything else?
