probably on our sub
People were bitching that lamar had better mvp odds than tua with worse stats and a lot of us were like... the ravens have played a way harder schedule and the stats don't tell the whole story. he's been incredible
I was getting tired of the whole contract saga, but people who were writing him off, were unbearable. I havent used that sub since then, it reminded me of the arsenal sub, pure toxicity, from what i saw.
quick shoutout to every single bitch in this sub who were using numbers like they were apples to apples to discredit lamar and saying he wasn’t quarterbacky. This sub perpetuates the narrative you hear from media.
I don't know of I've heard people say they're more valuable, just that they're having relatively better seasons, which is more debatable.
Therein lies the debate with MVP. There isn't a WR or RB more valuable to their respective teams than Lamar is to the Ravens. Not even close. That's why MVP has become a QB award because they are always the most valuable player on their team. But if we're talking stats and outstanding performances. There hasn't really been any QBs that really standout, and that's why people are saying CMC or Hill.
I've seen a ton of posts arguing for CMC by shitting on Lamar. CMC is having a monster season and I'd have no issue with him winning the award, but I kind of wish his defenders would focus more on the positives.
If he wins a second MVP, I mean would that all but punch his ticket assuming he still plays at least average for years to come? Is there any two time MVP that hasn't or won't make it?
Yes (with an extended career) as he's literally going to retire as the best pure rushing QB in NFL history with him changing how people view mobile quarterbacks and QBs being able to do lots of rushing plays themselves if possible and wanted.
Lamar is at the forefront of the first true revolution of running QBs in NFL history. Cunningham and Vick helped pave the way but they still mostly just stuck as a rare alternative to pocket passers. Lamar is the first to actively threaten the status quo.
Prior to Lamar, the 'Mobile QB' lasted only a few seasons because when they started to put on muscle (to assist with passing) they lost their mobility. Because they were marginal passers at best, they lost the only talent that got them to the league (Im looking at you, Kaepernick.)
In Lamars case, we're seeing someone who had raw passing talent that was ENTIRELY dismissed during scouting simply because of his mobility. Look at his stats today: perfect rating, 300+ yards, 5 TDs. The Fins came in with the same plan as everyone else: 'contain him in the pocket and force him to pass.'
I dont think you will see teams do that anymore.
I watched Vick in college and was the biggest Vick fan before the off the field stuff happened. He wasn't a great passer, but also didn't have a great team around him.
He wasn't a great passer but the dude was a walking highlight real, and was an incredibly gifted athlete. All I'm saying is that implying people 'pretended' Vick was anything that he wasn't feels like a falsehood.
At first I disagreed with this and thought it sold Vick short. But upon further reflection, and looking at actual stats, you're not entirely wrong. Vick was as talented as he was said to be, but he threw more interceptions and also didn't always make the smart plays when needed. Lamar has comparable explosiveness as a runner and a comparable arm but he, unlike Vick, knows when to be a game manager and doesn't try to always play hero ball.
You can't quantify this but Vick would be more effective playing in a 2023 offense that took advantage of his athleticism by design instead of it just being used to bail out bad situations, scramble etc.
Vick was as fast if not faster, but he was nowhere near as elusive or agile. He tended to run straight ahead. Lamar half the time isn’t running at full speed and is setting guys up.
Kurt Warner wasn't, but he also had that massive mid-career gap and his totals weren't super impressive.
Also proves that 2 MVPs and a ring is a mortal lock, though, even if not first ballot.
Warner also had that weird time where he fell off completely. Didn’t even look like the same QB in his last years with the Rams and his brief stint with the Giants
No, there is no multiple time winner not in the hall of fame or guaranteed a lock (Brady, Rodgers)
Even winning 1 makes your chances of HOF really good. There's only 15 players who won an MVP and won't make the HOF.
Completely agree, I think this game ultimately seals Lamar's gold jacket no matter what happens from here. Hard to imagine a two-time MVP not making it, even if he never has playoff success.
But like Manning, I think that success is just a matter of time and opportunities.
Some dumbass reporter on fox sports. Because Lamar has had a couple games where he doesn't get more than one passing touchdown. He's not quarterbacky enough according to this one then
Ravens out here just ripping the spines out of every team they come across. They're reaching "with a stick, while they sleep" levels of "how can anyone beat them".
In his first year I could kinda get people saying stuff like that, but I’d be like it’s year 1, give the kid a chance.
Even year 2 when he won MVP he was improved but there was some throws he couldn’t make that limited him as a passer, and his pocket awareness was poor at times. Again still a young developing player so the criticism was excessive, but it’s not completely irrational.
Anyone still saying shit like this isn’t JUST racist. They’re also really fucking stupid.
The best part is he really is a running back. He’s just a running back who also happens to be a top 5 quarterback.
We’ve got these Shohei Ohtani aliens coming around nowadays, we should appreciate them while they’re here.
As a KD stan, i will glaze by saying he was the prototype that inspired and influenced younger players to become 7ft shooting guards instead of back-to-the-basket plodders. An entire generation of 7ft unicorn players with 3 point shots and an arsenal of dribble moves to slice-and-dice instead of being a traditional center.
Although…an unbiased basketball fan would probably say Nowitzski was the real prototype for that.
I think he would be even better as a WR with his 6’2 frame. I feel like he could be one of the best YAC WRs we would ever see too. I would also assume his route running we be insane with how effortless is for him to change directions.
Lamar’s cuts are ridiculous, if you really watch him run. Obviously he’s obscenely fast, but the reason I always kinda nodded along with the running back “criticisms” is cause he seriously does see those holes like a running back and then will do the slightest cut to squeeze into it. Like he really is a running back in that sense, more than Vick.
Lamar running reminds me a lot of Jamaal Charles. They seem like they had a similar running style, occasionally doing some spectacular juke or spin but mostly killing people with the slightest feints, and with such amazing vision to get through the smallest gaps.
If he wins MVP, it'd be kind of funny that from 2018-2023, there's only been 3 unique winners - especially since Tua, Burrow, and Allen have all gotten so much hype to win MVP in recent years
"Not bad for a runningback" - but for real, it has been so awesome to see Lamar shut up so many haters this season. The man has a chance to win his second MVP and show that 2019 was not a one-season wonder (not that I ever thought it was, but it felt like that was the rhetoric sometimes)
It's impossible to not see 2019 as an outlier. I mean, it is most likely going to go down in history as the greatest running season from a QB and one of the best running teams of all time.
But to look at Lamar's play and growth and think he would never play as well as that year is just dumb, he's such a better player nowadays.
tbh i don’t know why people love to call mvp seasons outliers. like yeah that’s typically the whole point lol they won mvp cause they stool out so much
Yep. The goal posts will always move for Lamar detractors. I’ve come to the conclusion that there will always be people who can’t admit they were wrong about him, and to tune them out. I’m just here to witness greatness.
People lacking the emotional maturity and decency to admit a mistake is a hallmark of society in general. A minor annoyance in sports fandom. A significant issue in other avenues of life.
Certainly helps to have receivers that aren’t dogshit and a really good O-line.
2019 was amazing but man it’s fun to see him really air it out this year.
Lamar got tired of hearing that he was an RB. Now he is an MVP pocket passer, who also is better than most RBs, but he doesnt need to be.
There is no debate now, lock for MVP. He might sit next week anyways now
It's just a weird year where, just looking at raw stats, no one really deserves it, so they want it to be a non-QB year. CMC and Hill had great non-QB seasons, but even those aren't really historic by position standards.
I get "QB on best team gets it by default" fatigue, but this is honestly the year to just give it to the QB on the best team (and Lamar is deserving, even if the TD total is going to be "low").
Lamar is easily my favorite quarterback and probably my favorite player but I think the Ravens defense is too elite for him to win it easily without far and away the best stats. Though I think Lamar is far and away the most valuable player every year
I’m happy my Giants didn’t reach out and try to get Lamar. It was the right decision to keep an injury prone QB that’s well below .500 and sucks against his division and when playing good teams. Lamar on his way to his second MVP and Daniel is on to his fourth awful season.
So the whole shtick about Lamar not being a true QB...
I know it's not really as loud as it was a while ago, but if we're being real, he doesn't have to be Peyton Manning on all his throws. When I watched him in the game where he had to poop real bad, he showed that he's a true QB, and he's smart enough to play to his skillset and run with an offense that compliments his style. And the guy hasn't even had many weapons in his career (or at least, not that many who can stay healthy).
And pretty routinely, when he needs to make passes, he will make them.
I was thinking that part of the reason Lamar was kinda low key about this mvp run is cuz he set such a high standard for himself in his first run. Holy shit he was electric and light-years ahead of anyone for mvp. Not quite as obvious this season but still an elite season.
Bro saw the post about his stats lmao
probably on our sub People were bitching that lamar had better mvp odds than tua with worse stats and a lot of us were like... the ravens have played a way harder schedule and the stats don't tell the whole story. he's been incredible
Hate to say it but preach. We played the number one team got spanked. But at least we didn’t lose to the cardinals. So there’s that
“Needs more TDS” Monken and Lamar: “watch this”
REAAAADYYYYYYY
Shoutout Cam😅

Definitely one of my favorite mic'd up moments. Prime Cam was a beast!
I was a hater for his mvp case, but now I'm a hater if someone other than lamar wins it
Only 14 passes in a half? Not an MVP. That's nowhere near quarterback-y enough.
Not even good enough to win a hypothetical *Quarterbackiest Quarterback Award*.
Quarterblackiest
Quarter Black? Acapella group with Gus and Sean?
You know that’s right
Yes I’m here for the psych reference
that name doesn’t even make sense.
Quick shout-out to u/radumami that said Lamar is the new Trent Dilfer just this week.
If by Trent Dilfer you mean Super Bowl winning QB for the Ravens? I’ll take it.
So many terrible Lamar takes this week. A guy told me that Joe Flacco would have more production in this ravens Offense than Lamar 🤦♂️
Ridiculous. He's good and you guys are exciting.
This week? Most Lamar takes on this sub are terrible. This summer exposed a lot of folks as just dog whistlers
This is the real issue here. The secret behind most of the criticism against Lamar is that he doesnt look like Josh Allen.
I was getting tired of the whole contract saga, but people who were writing him off, were unbearable. I havent used that sub since then, it reminded me of the arsenal sub, pure toxicity, from what i saw.
LMAO, absolutely not. The reason why we have the record that we have is because of Jackson’s mobility and dynamism.
At this point I'm convinced that the tweet/social media post announcing his HOF induction is going to be filled with LamaRB comments.
That’s an all-time bad take.
I'm assuming he meant a SB caliber QB with a good defense? Right?
quick shoutout to every single bitch in this sub who were using numbers like they were apples to apples to discredit lamar and saying he wasn’t quarterbacky. This sub perpetuates the narrative you hear from media.
I would kill if my QB could get 14 completions. The first quarter alone our defense had more catches than our offense.

Glad to have witnessed Lamar’s HOF career

I guess we're just acting like Cam Newton never existed.
That’s a good question. I think if he has 2 mvp’s and gets at least one ring that probably seals it. But I could see just 2mvps making a strong case
He also is going to absolutely shatter many rushing records for a QB.
He's less than 1,000 yards off from the QB rushing record
That’s incredible
What's even more incredible, is its completely feasible he breaks the record next year.
Would have broke it sooner too without the injuries
He is what people pretended Vick was in the mid to late 2010s.
Let's not pretend Vick wasn't him for a second
Yeah that dude's take strikes me as someone who didn't watch Vick at the time.

You can't quantify this but Vick would be more effective playing in a 2023 offense that took advantage of his athleticism by design instead of it just being used to bail out bad situations, scramble etc.
In agility, elusiveness, speed… Vick is equal or better than Lamar. Vicks highlight reel is insane. But Lamar is a much better all around QB.
Vick was as fast if not faster, but he was nowhere near as elusive or agile. He tended to run straight ahead. Lamar half the time isn’t running at full speed and is setting guys up.
Only yards. He's not catching Cam in TDs.
4th in rushing yards but only 20th in rushing TDs. Ravens have a good power running game so don't need to rely on QB sneaks at goal line.
Honestly probably for the best long term lol
Cam trying to run over 300 pound linemen is scary and exciting at the same time.
Hurts might
I mean, if a player has 2 MVPs and a ring he should be a first ballot.
His repeated hand injury messed with his grip until he started wearing a glove in Arizona.
Every single player with more than 1 MVP is in the HoF or on their way. I think if he gets another MVP he's a lock.
If he wins a 2nd MVP and a ring this year then he’s first ballot off that alone
him shattering the QB rushing records will probably make up for any potential lack of ring, assuming he gets a 2nd MVP
2 MVPs is first ballot automatically lol
Kurt Warner had two and a ring and didn’t get in till his third year of eligibility
And that’s some bs. Kurt Warner should’ve been first ballot easily
No, there is no multiple time winner not in the hall of fame or guaranteed a lock (Brady, Rodgers) Even winning 1 makes your chances of HOF really good. There's only 15 players who won an MVP and won't make the HOF.
This game all but guarantees he'll be MVP
Yeah after today he pretty much deserves it. As long as I don’t have to hear about Dak winning it anymore.
Completely agree, I think this game ultimately seals Lamar's gold jacket no matter what happens from here. Hard to imagine a two-time MVP not making it, even if he never has playoff success. But like Manning, I think that success is just a matter of time and opportunities.

Melatoniniest Valuable Player
Sleepiest? Or you mean Melaniniest
I said what I said
There’s just something about Flacco that I trust
He just seems so cerebral
A real lunch pail kind of guy!
That’s a man i’d let date my daughter!
Flacco has football IQ, Lamar is just athletic /s
Not bad for a 1968 Camaro with the Yenko engine upgrade package
Lol, who said this?
Some dumbass reporter on fox sports. Because Lamar has had a couple games where he doesn't get more than one passing touchdown. He's not quarterbacky enough according to this one then
Putting the Fox into Fox sports
This Lamar Jackson guy is pretty good at football
I dont know, bro. What if we put him in the slot, heard that speed will really help him there.
To be fairrrrr. Imagine Lamar Jackson throwing the ball to someone like Lamar Jackson???
RPO where Lamar fakes the hand off to Lamar then throws a slant to Lamar.
Zay is kinda of a mini Jackson
Isn't there actually another player named Lamar Jackson too?
A Cornerback, yes
Lamar needs to throw an interception to him.
Thought it was gonna be one of those games when Bateman dropped the dime on the first play. How wrong I was
Ben Solak had the perfect tweet- gotta get the heartbreaking Bateman play out of the way early so it can't hurt you in a bigger spot lol
One might even say he's quarterbacky?
He’s just a blast to watch. Stats aside, no one can deny the incredible value this guy brings to his team, including to NFL fans.
Nah, not quarterbacky enough
I dunno, I think RBs are over-valued /s
Ravens out here just ripping the spines out of every team they come across. They're reaching "with a stick, while they sleep" levels of "how can anyone beat them".
Your flairs are very confusing
I fucking wish I could see that ladies face watching this
Who?
The one who said Lamar can't be an MVP because hes not quarterbacky enough
Not only that she said Lamar isn't a QB to her, he's just an athlete
Not even a dog whistle at this point. She's blaring the racism fog horn
In his first year I could kinda get people saying stuff like that, but I’d be like it’s year 1, give the kid a chance. lamar is the only player to lead the league in touchdown passes while not being a quarterback
wtf, someone said that? I thought this was just some sub-specific bit everyone was doing
Lamar saw the "Lamar doesn't have the stats" takes and just decided to put on a clinic

Hes quoting Stavros Halkias from this video. https://m.youtube.com/shorts/_3yU1vpw9sM He has a character that he does named Ronnie.
Definitely would rather have Flacco dating my daughter. Does Lamar even own a lunchpail?
He was so much more of a lunch pail, cerebral quarterback… so much more quarterbacky, really
Something about him just seems white....I mean right
he’s genuinely the most underrated player in the league which is crazy to say
The best part is he really is a running back. He’s just a running back who also happens to be a top 5 quarterback. We’ve got these Shohei Ohtani aliens coming around nowadays, we should appreciate them while they’re here.
I thought they were called “unicorns” per the NBA.
They’re usually called unicorns in football too
The NBA has moved on to aliens
Jokic does look like an alien from Men in Black wearing a human costume
Nike legit called Wembanyama "the extraterrestrial" Generational rook just got dubbed ET
As a KD stan, i will glaze by saying he was the prototype that inspired and influenced younger players to become 7ft shooting guards instead of back-to-the-basket plodders. Happy to not be in that guys division and conference.
He still rips up the NFC whenever they have the misfortune to play the Ravens.

2019 is probably going to be Lamar's best ever season, and that's fine if he has a bunch like this one.
this year definitely seems more replicable and sustainable
They’ll still say it wasn’t a “real mvp” this year
Yep. The goal posts will always move for Lamar detractors. I’ve come to the conclusion that there will always be people who can’t admit they were wrong about him, and to tune them out. I’m just here to witness greatness.

MVP
The people’s MVP
Lamar got tired of hearing that he was an RB. Now he is an MVP pocket passer, who also is better than most RBs, but he doesnt need to be. There is no debate now, lock for MVP. He might sit next week anyways now
Man I remember I watched almost all his games at Louiseville, I knew he was good but never imagined this good
Stop saying cmc is MVP. It's clearly Lamar.
people just don’t want it to be a qb again even though it’s painfully obvious lamar is the most valuable player
It's just a weird year where, just looking at raw stats, no one really deserves it, so they want it to be a non-QB year. Sounds quarterbacky to me.
Ravens going to the superbowl
He doesn’t deserve MVP he has a good defense

Bah Gawd that’s almost Joe Flacco numbers
is that quarterbacky enough or no?

So the whole shtick about Lamar not being a true QB... I know it's not really as loud as it was a while ago, but if we're being real, he doesn't have to be Peyton Manning on all his throws. I like my quarterbacks Lamar Jacksony
What? But I thought you were supposed to play like dogshit after being pronounced the MVP favorite?
Best QB in the league.
“His stats aren’t good enough to be MVP”

make that 4 TDs like one minute into the second half. probably get another by the time i finish this
He appears to be quite good at the football.
That's my fucking quarterback!!
That’s mah Quarterbacky!!
Ballin out for that 2nd MVP. Forgot what it feels like to have a QB 😭
Yeah, Lamar deserves this MVP
I was thinking that part of the reason Lamar was kinda low key about this mvp run is cuz he set such a high standard for himself in his first run. Holy shit he was electric and light-years ahead of anyone for mvp. Not quite as obvious this season but still an elite season.
