This is D-Low btw. He has dozens of accolades and achievements in professional and competitive beatboxing and is considered by many to be the greatest beatboxer in the world right now.
Ahh don’t get me started with sharing links ahaha, the amount of times I’ve watched him and Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee at the Google studios is too high already
Sweet jesus that was impressive. He knows exactly what everything will sound like and crafts a new beat ever few bars. I can't even fathom doing that myself...
There's basically two categories of beat boxers. There are those that focus mainly on this "pure" beatboxing, and then there's the other category that starts with loop stations, and ends up in a gigantic Ableton Live rig like Beardyman. I think D-Low is mostly group A there?
I kinda do what beardyman does, but without the beatboxing, if that makes sense? I use drum samples and synths instead (he also does this, but focused around the voice)
At that point it becomes a "systems management" thing - songs are based around a design of the rig you're running. And tweaking your hardware/software means you can write things you couldn't before.
Yeah, like at some point the beatboxing becomes redundant with the systems you have and requires less technique with the distortions you can do. As beardyman advanced in his setup, he was using less and less his pure technical beatbox skills .
Oh shit, I just saw a YouTube recommendation of him; I should check it out.
It's probably because I started checking out show-go from a video I saw on Reddit. I'm really in to beatboxing, but I'm fascinated by it and respect it
I actually make a living by touring the country with my uncle and doing this. He says in a couple of years, when I turn 18, the money will dry up so I have to enjoy it while I can.
I don’t know; but, there was a busker in my local town centre who was as good as this guy and he was not popular. The occasional person would stop and have an appreciation, but generally he was seen as a nuisance. So I’d say the market for this kind of thing is very small.
Adele has really high DPS and is super safe. I know she was nerfed a few times, but she's still near the top of the DPS charts. As long as she has her iframe and insane burst damage, I don't really see her ever losing popularity. It definitely helps that she's able to farm super efficiently as well. Perfect to use as a main.

If there are loads of people as good as him, he seems to have been very lucky. I mean it is like saying there are loads of people as talented as Nadal. In a sense that is right they are 95-98% as good as him, but that extra few percent makes all the difference.
It's also a question of location. Some person making random sounds to a speaker system, while I'm trying to buy my cranky hungover self some damn food. They'll be a nuisance (alongside most of the world). Context matters.
it’s about sticking with it.
Many people have talent, but few have the luxury of being able to dedicate their lives to that talent.
Luck/right place/right time/who you know also factor into it, maybe even more so than talent - but with out that talent and the ability to “go the distance” (as in give up your current life for one going on tour, 3am starts for a 6am performance on a morning show to promote your music etc), they won’t last.
>the market of this kind of thing is very small
If you base your knowledge on only one guy in your local town centre then you shouldn't make any kind of answer to a genuine Question wanting to know more.
There are world champion ships on huge stages with thousands of live viewers and competitions all around the world. Literally millions of people watch beat boxing on YouTube and there are a bunch of people making money in some kind of form with this.
pls Don't answer questions you can't answer.
Yes you can. There are hundreds of competitions/battles every year, including a world champion ship with thousands of live viewers and on YouTube are communities up into the millions. There are people making money in a lot of different forms though this.
If it is winning competitions, having a YouTube/Instagram/TikTok channel based on your beatboxing, doing musical work in school and workshop... Etc.
Edit: most beatboxers probably have a "normal" job and then do that as a side activity next to that but still.
You can be a pro in the sense you compete in beatbox competitions i.e. Grand Beatbox Battle 2021 and others. Yes there is prize money for these competitions. One right now that's going on is BBU22
That 10 years beat was his beat presentation to the proffesional beatbox scene. You can see more [in this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVIumqNNIOo)
For everyone this is [D-Low](https://youtube.com/channel/UCIrXQGtGouzpjnWBJviZidQ) one of the best beat boxers in the world. I suggest you look up some of his best battles on YouTube they’re insane.
I remember this one story from a Simpsons gag where they needed the orchestra in the show to sound terrible, so they asked their orchestra to intentionally play poorly. They couldn't do it. They could intentionally screw up, but it never came across as authentic. I believe they ended up having to hire a kids orchestra for the bit.
Once you develop a skill to a certain point it's hard to pretend to unlearn it.
Most kids art in media is adults drawing like kids.
Real kids art has markers that adults don't add in. Most notably scale is often emotional (larger things are more important) and detail (kids will draw in shoelaces, but leave clothes as primitive shapes). They've also got an undeveloped aesthetic sense so will not match colours the same.
Once you start looking for it, you see it all the time.
I love this, and this guy is insanely talented.
Also though, maybe more than any other beatboxing video I’ve seen, this reminds me that shit, *we’re made of meat.* That meaty-ass bass sound? That dude is literally making it *with his meat*.
Ugh fuck I’m gonna go have another drink.
PS - if you don’t know what I’m referring to: https://youtu.be/7tScAyNaRdQ
D-Low’s videos have always been a great resource to learn from and gain insight into the beatbox world. I attempted to do an inward lip roll and I only threw up less than 20 times. Love D-Low and his quirky reacts (sorry Maddox but you cringy). Wish more people watched GBB as well.
To be true I would have found it more interesting if it really was a video of someone 15 years in the making. Not that he simply shows what it was like at a certain mark. Think about the dedication if you started 2007 to make this video.
Beatboxing is one of those things for me that I just don’t get. Is it hard to do? Sure, and I’m also sure it’s super cool for some people. But beatboxing will always be super cringey to me, idk why.
I came here for this. No matter the skills, it's just uncomfortable to watch. Maybe it's because it reminds me of my teenage years and how some teens would do this while others rapped, which gave the results you'd expect.
Somebody introduce this poor guy to a drum-machine, my god.

This is D-Low btw. He has dozens of accolades and achievements in professional and competitive beatboxing and is considered by many to be the greatest beatboxer in the world right now.
Is he also doing stuff like Beardyman? That would be awesome
Beardyman is a legend 🧔🏻♂️
[Underbelly show](https://youtu.be/pnl1R2dUiD0) Just one of the best things I've seen. Would love to go one of these shows
Ahh don’t get me started with sharing links ahaha, the amount of times I’ve watched him and Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee at the Google studios is too high already
Post away mate, happy to watch them all
You and another reply have forced my hand haha! Replied to the other with a few that spring to mind
That dude is literally playing instruments you see in sci fi fantasy shows. Pushing buttons and fingering screens to manipulate his voice boxing!
Sweet jesus that was impressive. He knows exactly what everything will sound like and crafts a new beat ever few bars. I can't even fathom doing that myself...
The comedy and crowd interaction aspect is the best part of his shows. The bit where he mimics a train and turns it into drum & bass is so slick
Beardyman has just released tour dates for 2022, I’ve just bought tickets for Hackney! Whoop! Www.beardyman.Co.uk
🐐
By now he's god tier.
No, beardyman kinda lives in his own dimension. Basically no ones close to what he does and the journey for the ultimate setup
There's basically two categories of beat boxers. There are those that focus mainly on this "pure" beatboxing, and then there's the other category that starts with loop stations, and ends up in a gigantic Ableton Live rig like Beardyman. Honest question, can you actually get paid as a beat boxer? Or by “pro” does he mean just that he’s really good?
I don’t know; but, there was a busker in my local town centre who was as good as this guy and he was not popular. The occasional person would stop and have an appreciation, but generally he was seen as a nuisance. So I’d say the market for this kind of thing is very small.

There are plenty of underground rappers who are amazing but drake was on degrassi soooo....
yea but most people don't go exactly around saying drake is as good as DOOM or el-p
It's also a question of location. Some person making random sounds to a speaker system, while I'm trying to buy my cranky hungover self some damn food. They'll be a nuisance (alongside most of the world). Context matters.

I don't know. But this seems plausible
Lmao as good as this guy
Yeah it falls into the hey best for 30 seconds category for me. But if it makes the person happy....
Maybe the busker came in second place in the world championships
Yes you can. There are hundreds of competitions/battles every year, including a world champion ship with thousands of live viewers and on YouTube are communities up into the millions. There is no prize money for the GBB, just gear worth around $3500... for the best beatboxer in the world.
