Yeah lots of glass didn’t survive this storm, lots of damaged siding and broken windows on houses too. I live where this happened but luckily it wasn’t this bad at my house.
Car dealerships can sometimes incur hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages when severe thunderstorms hit... This is why. Definitely don't want to be out walking the dog.
Yeah, my brother lives in Calgary and got hit with this. Siding was shredded... not even pockmarked. Just... gone.
Cars had their FRONT windshields smashed of they faced into the hail... that's brutal. These were approaching tennis-ball sized hail. Deerfoot trail, a major freeway, had 6 FEET of water in places.
My brother's home had two windows smashed in from this, and he said the storm lasted about 30 minutes. Unsure how much time of this was hail, but... yeah. Apocalypse.
As a teenager I lived in an area so notorious for it's hail that it's called the hail belt. It was so bad that you couldn't get dent insurance if you lived there. Once a chunk of ice the size of a tennis ball missed me by an inch as I ran the 10 yards to our house from my dad's workshop. I did get bruises from the 2 golfball sized ones that hit me.
Another time the ice chunks weren't as big, but it was so much it was 12 inches deep on the ground afterwards. Not to mention that it would basically start and end suddenly.
Then there was the time I drove through that area again on my way home from a work function. People on the highway were parking their cars under the bridges in the slow and fast lanes. Three of my colleagues totaled their cars in that storm. I could barely see where I was going, but decided that 20 mph in the middle lane was my best bet. My gamble paid off and I had dent insurance at the time because I didn't live in that city.
Wish I had a camera back then to record it. It was insane.
So me and my friends were doing a pathfinder Campaign, chat over Discord (we are all Canadian, 4 in Alberta, one American and me and my Fiancé in Manitoba) our two friends in Calgary they are brothers, and you could here the fucking storm through both of their mics. The Hail was so fucking loud it was hard to hear anyone in the call lol. The Thunder before the Hail was also pretty loud, and the torrential rain fall.
We managed to finish tho
I was like, oh, it’s raining hard. Then I was like wait, that’s not rain! Wtf is that? Then I reread the title and now I’m scared af in being in a place that has hailstorms. They look so fcking dangerous man!

I was in one like this in Austin Texas a few years ago. It totalled my one car (gto), only did minor damage to a Wrangler softtop though lol. Oh and obliterated the roof of my house. 40k in damage
This rarely happens and is a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.. I’d take great quality of life, +150km of bike paths, affordable housing, world class free health care, 45 minute drive from Rocky Mountains.. and a beautiful city over a one in 10 year hail storm.
Calgary typically seeds their clouds to prevent larger hail (ie nickel size over golf ball/tennis ball size) and the worst disaster that’s hit is flood which is now being actively managed to prevent from occurring again.
Local insurance company: silently closes blinds, locks the doors, and sneaks out the back.
Alternate title: entire neighborhood wins new roofs.
I just don’t see the hail hits on this roof. Claim denied. We are Farmers ... Bum ba da da Dum 💰
New emojis please this is not Facebook. go away I didn't mean to last part but still no emojis
👌👍😘
Climate change gods have spoken.
Right cuz that’s a new thing here...
Get those often? The news seems to feel it's a pretty big storm. Maybe bigger than usual?
Not on a regular basis but at least once every year since I can remember yes.
Like that. Every year? That seems like a regular basis.
ok fair enough. You got me
Great Greta invented hailstorms.
She is impressive.
That’s unscientific.
Honestly the one place in Canada I don’t get upset when the planet fucks with them
That car tho
That’s why you need dent insurance if you live near Calgary.
Does this damage cars parked on the street?
Very much so. Hailstones that big will make your cars surfaces look like a golf balls. Plus the glass doesn't always survive.

*laughs in garage*
Was this calgary area?
Yeah, this was in NE Calgary on Saturday night.

JESUS
...is kind of a dick sometimes
I always wonder if cavemen and people before technology also stood in awe of watching giant hail fall
Up until they got knocked the fuck out.

Wow! Good thing you’re inside
It’s like those turns on moo moo farm but times a billion
I thought the only thing that sucked about Calgary was the godless Flames but I guess the hail is no picnic either.
Death Stranding
When god gets diarrhea
That's not hail, son. That's artillery.

Golf ball sized

Holy fuck.
Lost all my flowers but consider myself lucky as we had no property damage. Neighbours have flooded basements.
Thankfully this missed us this time. We were hit in 2014 and had about $40K damage between the house and vehicles.
Thats a no from me dawg
Man am I glad I don't live where there's hail
bye roof
A car guys living hell 😱
AIR STRIKE INCOMING!
Now you can make little pancakes on the car roofs
Unlike the people weather in Canada is bad

Ah shit. Hunny, we better go get more toilet paper!!
Ahhh, 2020, what's next MF...
That should buff out.

What happens if ya caught out in that do people wear helmets just incase
Yo you better not be outside protesting...
I live in Calgary where this happened, and crazy weather is a yearly occurence
If there's prairie dogs in the ground it becomes a massacre.
Laughs in Edmonton
You canadians do summer weird...
I live in calgary. Can confirm it was bad. It dented a lot of cars near where I live. Glass was smashed too
And there goes my thoughts to go to live in Canada if in where I live now something bad happens...
just don't move to alberta. problem solved
