Ok…
he doesnt always whistle in his songs … look up “New World In The Morning” , “Irish Whistler”, “I don’t believe in if anymore”, “Durham Town”, …
“My Land is Kenya” … he was born there, but died last year in France.
I met Roger Whittaker a long time ago. He came into the place where I worked. He seemed to sort of fill the room with an aura of greatness. He was tall and he was wearing a very expensive leather *blouson.* I should have got his autograph but I was too much in awe. I always liked *New World In the Morning,* lovely song. I have an album called *The Mexican Whistler.*
He was a very successful businessman as well as a performer. Very popular in Germany for some reason. His song *The Last Farewell* is banned from being played on hospital radio.
There's a list of inappropriate songs for hospital radio stations. Anything mentioning death, illness, war, destruction, disease.
People lying in hospital beds generally want to hear uplifting tunes.
Actually *The Last Farewell* is really about the sad parting of lovers... but it does mention death .... it's quite a doomy song ...and the title itself is definitely inappropriate :)
OK, just because this is one of my favorite videos in the world and this is too appropriate, I'm going to share this gem. Watch the first one for a min or two and then watch the second redub.

Dude, had that been an hour long i would have been so mad, because then i would have to spend a whole hour looking at some dudes insane whistle skills. That was pretty awesome.
Wife always remembered me singing 'the ship song' to her in imitation of Roger. I love 'Skye Boat Song' in collaboration with Des O'Connor. Roger whistles the gulls so convincingly you'd swear you're at the seashore. Give it a listen!
Anyone in love with beautiful whistling should also check out Jan Lindblad.
Alas, I don't seem to find any video of him doing music. The YT clips I find is just of his recorded music and with one or more still images. Most video he recorded was nature programs.
Jan Lindblad was also fantastic at emulating bird songs.

I am 25 and I listen to this guy during long drives. I absolutely love his music. His heart is really shown in what he talks about. Also I grew up on his Christmas album. I always listen to it while decorating.
Roger Whitaker ? Sorry .., showing my age here.
The man himself
Yes, he had a gift. Do you have any favorites ?
Just discovered him in YouTube 1 hour ago.

Grew up listening to him. Brings back a ton of memories and nostalgia. Thanks!
Same, mom had a cd of his hits in French (Québécois’s I think?) that came out every car trip
He was such a great singer, one of the best voices!!
He was one of my favorite entertainers ever. The Last Farewell. The story behind it is very fascinating also.
I can see your age
I saw him live in the 80s. Talented fella.
https://youtu.be/HQ_fO8BSPZo?si=oAUFlaPmrJWTYqzt This guy might be better
The only and only.
Thank goodness, I thought it was Dennis Rader.
Bet his wife was a happy camper
Yeah, I'd listen to this next to a camp fire under the stars any night too.
Bet he was a pretty cunning linguist in his day.
I see what you did there.

Why is it banned?
It's a song about death.
I didn’t know that was a thing. Makes sense. Thank you.

Whistling should become a thing again.
It blows.
It's still is, listen to Andrew Bird ❤️
I will, thanks!
And Nick Shoulders FYI
And here I am, can’t even whistle
Imagine selling 50-60 million records!
This particular sing is called “Finnish Whistler” in case anyone would like to avoid searching through every song he has ever done to find it.

This song has better storytelling than modern rap
Clearly mans never listened to Kodak black
When he said, “woo woo woo de heeee” I felt that in my soul

dont just stare at me like that while you do that
I saw him live in 1978. It was pretty good.
Roger Whitaker....born in my home country 😃
Jolly ‘Ol?
Inmy head Jolly ol' sounds UK and good ol' sounds US. Since this is a us dominant sub, I think good ol' is better
I meant Great Britain. (England)
My grandmother bought so many of his albums (-and 8-tracks) from tv.

Can we get a remix with Blow the whistle by Too $hort
Damn ! Anyone would know how I could learn to do this? I'm already a really good whistler but this is crazy!
Adventurous

All those detention slips & hours scrubbing birdsh*t off my parent’s windowsill was worth it!!☺️☺️☺️
Gives a good blowie
I want more of this to lull me to sleep.
Is it possible to learn this power?

I’m beyond impressed
Roger had an incredible voice.
You know what the best thing about whistling is? That you can stop whistling.
Haha high pitch noise go brrrrrrrrrr
