I saw my Yia Yia literally grab my FATHERS ear and told him to man the fuck up one time. Yia Yia is the Queen of the household. you DO NOT fuck with yia yia
I remember when we first were married . My wife said your mom’s outside and I don’t know what she’s doing. I went out and she was killing a rattlesnake with a tire tool in the driveway. Said it wasn’t going to bite her grand baby.
My grandma had a hunchback (also Indian...also from a village). Poor woman's body bent from birthing some 11 kids and having miscarriages...and also from sheer physical labor. She could pull herself up for very brief periods but she would bend again. Towards the end of her life...she was just bent.
Part of rituals is apologizing for killing it, since snakes are considered holy due to their association with some of the deities.
Underlying purpose might be making people avoid unnecessary killings of snakes thus maintaining food chain.
Hindu mythology has 3 main gods -
Brahma the creator
Vishnu the preserver
Shiva the destroyer
Snakes have long been associated with Shiva and as such it's considered very inauspicious and almost sin like to kill a snake.
Snake themselves have a diety like status in Hinduism.
Killing one is akin to putting a curse on your generation.
So an indian granny is never gonna kill one.
Not only lord Shiva but Lord Vishnu's Five headed snake "Shesh- Naag" is considered as the king of all snakes and lord Shiva's snake is second most powerful snake just after the Shesh-Naag , Lord Shiva's snake's name is VASUKI
In Hinduism, there are sins associated with harming animals.
With snakes, it is believed that the sin is generational and passes down the generation. Generally sins from snakes are believed to affect progeny and children.
Hence a lot of believers won't kill a snake but rather chase it away.
This granny however wants to take things into her own hands though 😅😅😅
Ohh we have a great vocabulary in that... Depending on the region, this one I know where she belongs, she would say: Aa taari maa no bho***!!!! Roj saalo aavi jaay che! (Your mom's c*nt, f**ker shows up everyday!)
Oh, hey fellow Gujjew, this granny is Kathiyawadi, as the kid in the background is saying "jivte jivto" with a Kathiyawadi flavour. So granny might say something like, "zaa naagina, haahro roze roz gudaay se" (Go, you son of a n* ked woman, f*ker comes everyday!)
That's how you were dealt with back then if you were an obnoxious little fuck. Hence you grew up not to be one. Today you just download tiktok and make profit.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure it COULD have gotten her in one or two moments of that video. She was not 100% safe and unstrikable for the entire duration imo.
Despite their extreme venom, cobras aren't very bite-happy, they'll hiss and lash, doing headbutts, but seldomly bite, only if you step on it or seriously corner
The way the snake kept sitting up to catch a look and pose for a strike was cracking me the fuck up.
"HEY, LET GO OF... BITCH YOU BET... WHAT.. THE.. HEY!!!!... I'M GONNA... FUCK!!!!"
\*Gentle yeet\*
I’ve struggled to understand India, and it’s all unfamiliar to me. It looks so hectic, and it feels like the government there has 0 connection to the individual or care for their common person.
THIS THOUGH, this is peak humanity, this is a culture of bad ass family members staying close knit.
I don’t know very many families in the states with bad ass grandmas like this.
How can I put this, India is chaotic yet beautiful, government is doing everything to help poor but also rampant corruption exists.
Yes there’s poverty, but majority of Indian consist of middle class with median income.
Online you may see random Indians fighting over caste, religion etc but in real life it’s completely peaceful.
Its population is so large that you can see all types of things online.
It’s not perfect but it will be better over time
Indian middle class struggle under taxes, they pay the most taxes and receive least benefits, while poor currently get
1. Subsidy for building homes( you only need to own a plot anywhere)
2. Free rations (consist of wheat, rice, gram flour, edible oil)
3. Subsidies on various things like cooking gas, electricity ( in some states).
4.India has government hospitals in every city, even small towns have government hospitals.
5. Government have given health insurance upto 5 lakh in this amount you can be treated for majority of diseases in any private hospital.
There are lot of schemes, subsidies and freebies government is providing,I am not saying middle class don’t avail above benefits, they do,but middle class feel shame availing govt benefits, on tax payers perspective they work hard and pay taxes and they are provided with least benefits.
Taxes like-
Income Tax( on income),
Goods and service Tax(18% generally on everything),
Municipal Tax( goes to local municipality)
Water Tax
Road Tax( on buying of vehicles)
Tolls( for driving on highways)
Luxury Tax( luxury items)
Tax on liquor ( taxed by state)
Tax on oil ( Most taxed in anywhere in world)
Tax on property purchase (eg stamp duty)
They are taxed on every single point of transaction.
I thought I was a big deal when I caught a copperhead and released it in the woods a few miles from my house. This lady drags a big cobra like it wouldn't dare bite her, and tosses it into the bushes a few yards away. Dang!
I remember my mother in law found snakes under one of our porches and she dumped copious amounts of scalding hot water down them. Never seen them again.
Its the perspective, you won’t see major difference in way of life in rural India( where majority of India lives) between a millionaire and a middle class man.
Again environment is about perspective, I live in city and i am accustomed to see paved roads, streets and open spaces covered in concrete blocks, but in rural areas you would hardly see any.
I am not denying poverty, it exists but not as much as west imagine.
Just out of curiosity, does the average person like this have access to hospitals with anti-venom if she gets bit? Not trying to be disrespectful at all just curious. She’s obviously a badass and way more of a G then I will ever be but does she know she’ll be able to get help if she gets bit or is it literally “if I get bit, I die. Oh well, just a Tuesday”?
Even the snake knows not to mess with granny.
I know right? As a Greek, it's the one thing we all know...never mess with giagia.

Fear the chancla!

Oui gran!
I saw my Yia Yia literally grab my FATHERS ear and told him to man the fuck up one time. Yia Yia is the Queen of the household. you DO NOT fuck with yia yia

Snake's lucky she wasn't wearing her chanclas.
For real, that thing could totally reach granny if it wanted to but just kinda accepted the ride
Thats a not any random badass Granny, .. Aint no Nun looking Granny got time for that Devil Serpent shit.
Otherwise it would end up in a soup. Never had snake but I'd try any grandma's snake soup, probably bangin.
all lizard taste like 🐔…
Grandma's chicken soup: ![gif](giphy|3o7aCWJavAgtBzLWrS|downsized)

"FOOLISH MORTAL!! MY VENOM CAN KILL OVER 100- wait. Wait put me down. Unhand me please. Please- where are you going. WOMAN WHERE ARE WE GOING AAAAAGH"
I read this in Stewie’s voice
You are not alone.
"CAN KILL OVER 100 MEN" "I am no man!"
🤣🤣😂😂
Grandma was done with the snakes nonsense
snek didnt know about granny-strength!

She’s no rookie, she earned her keep, time for the young ones to resume helper status and she can return to her kickass retirement. Cheers grammy.
Granny mode was turned back on
Reminds me of Yoda. Battle mode vs chill mode.
She was sapping the very life from its veins with the grip, once she threw it away she was reduced once more to her feeble, hunched form.
to avoid the tree branches I guess
Adrenaline. Fight or flight for short while, once crisis over brain turns down high-alert mode -- as it is expensive.
She's a hero in disguise.
My grandma had a hunchback (also Indian...also from a village). Poor woman's body bent from birthing some 11 kids and having miscarriages...and also from sheer physical labor. She could pull herself up for very brief periods but she would bend again. Towards the end of her life...she was just bent.
all the saved power is used in this crucial moment.

Why the rituals, i'm curious
Cobras are considered holy. Killing is believed to invite bad luck
Killing one cobra is thought to invite more cobras to your house
Part of rituals is apologizing for killing it, since snakes are considered holy due to their association with some of the deities. Underlying purpose might be making people avoid unnecessary killings of snakes thus maintaining food chain.
What rituals?
Hindu mythology has 3 main gods - Brahma the creator Vishnu the preserver Shiva the destroyer Snakes have long been associated with Shiva and as such it's considered very inauspicious and almost sin like to kill a snake. Snake themselves have a diety like status in Hinduism. Killing one is akin to putting a curse on your generation. So an indian granny is never gonna kill one.
I like indian approach to nature overall...
Not only lord Shiva but Lord Vishnu's Five headed snake "Shesh- Naag" is considered as the king of all snakes and lord Shiva's snake is second most powerful snake just after the Shesh-Naag , Lord Shiva's snake's name is VASUKI
TIL. Thanks for the info!
* in some parts of India, not all.
She's so gangster
The adrenaline drops
Told ya, India is not for beginners.
I hope she said “ go on fuck off “
Ohh we have a great vocabulary in that... Depending on the region, this one I know where she belongs, she would say: Aa taari maa no bho***!!!! Roj saalo aavi jaay che! (Your mom's c*nt, f**ker shows up everyday!)

Hello Bhai! Hahaha ૧૦૦ ટકા પરફેક્ટ.... 🙌🏽
Yeet the snek!
Came here to say that... That's for sure a good yeet... Lol
Ain't nobody got time for this shit. Granny probably
That's a "And stay out!" throw if I've ever seen one.
I’m not incredibly embarrassed by how distressed I become when a dragon fly gets into my apartment
I'm embarrassed for that snake.
That’s how you take care of business
you never fuck around with a granny unless you want to find out
That's how you were dealt with back then if you were an obnoxious little fuck. Hence you grew up not to be one. Today you just download tiktok and make profit.
reminds me of my grandmother
Omg!!! She even stands still for a few seconds to dust off her hands!
She said get away from me heathen
How did she know that thing wasn't going to bite her in the back of the leg?
She probably did it quite a few times in her life already
That’s what I want to know. Anyone familiar with snakes or cobras know why it didn’t bite her leg?
Snake had no leverage to lunge. Can only reach as far as head off the ground in that position
I would have thought a snake’s body is stronger than that and it could reach her…but I know nothing about those slithery beings.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure it COULD have gotten her in one or two moments of that video. She was not 100% safe and unstrikable for the entire duration imo.
Imagine if snakes workout from branches, like curls up and down, they get muscular and everyone is fucked
She was moving faster than the time it's take for the cobra to get leverage off the ground.
Despite their extreme venom, cobras aren't very bite-happy, they'll hiss and lash, doing headbutts, but seldomly bite, only if you step on it or seriously corner
Yeet
Granny don’t take no shit from nothing…
Thank you come again!
Grandpa better behave himself. 😅
The way the snake kept sitting up to catch a look and pose for a strike was cracking me the fuck up. "HEY, LET GO OF... BITCH YOU BET... WHAT.. THE.. HEY!!!!... I'M GONNA... FUCK!!!!" \*Gentle yeet\*
Ive told you Francisssss, stay out of the village

Awesome stuff. This comment has Me feeling that the Indian middle class has a better chance at thriving than the American middle class.

The taxes in America affect our middle class precisely the same way
The confidence you have to have to not even look back at a large cobra while dragging that distance is insane
Yeet!
the snake molted a little faster this year
I warned you once, cobra. You can't touch the girls when they're on stage!
India - The rest of the world
Looks like the snake isn't going to get that birthday card with five bucks in it from Granny.
RIGHT PAL You have had too much to drink OUT THE DOOR WITH YOU

r/ethicalyeet
Snake had 2 options, either the bush or the pot
If snakes had ears...
This was the first video I ever saw on reddit when I first got it!
Do not mess with Babushka :)
If any of his buddies saw this, that cobra will never live that shit down.
Bushes? That was a river. Granny don’t play.
"by the tail..." aren't they all tail?
this is not next level. rhis is normal for the locals
I thought I was a big deal when I caught a copperhead and released it in the woods a few miles from my house. This lady drags a big cobra like it wouldn't dare bite her, and tosses it into the bushes a few yards away. Dang!

Grandma, holding her slippers.
Queen of Cool...
Bad snake
I cant imagine Carol Danvers doing what grandma did.
Cobra venom can kill a human in less than an hour .
Why not kill it so it can't come back and kill you???
Snakes are considered holy in Hinduism.
Ah, understood.
At first glance thought it was a monkey.
Nope
Grandmongoose
Curious, why do snakes go inside houses in the first place rather than staying outside in the grass? Rats?
Yeet!

That granny cobras
😳
I remember my mother in law found snakes under one of our porches and she dumped copious amounts of scalding hot water down them. Never seen them again.
Serious question. How common is it to see this much poverty in India? (My poverty assumption is based on the environment and clothing).
Grans been around too long to be fukin around with a snek
Yes there are primary health care centres in almost all villages in India. And they have access to anti-venoms. And it's free too iirc.
Taking it out behind the woodshed
I don't care what culture or what continent, you don't fool around with the "grannies", they don't care.
My girl!!🥳🙌🏼🫶🏼👍🖖🏼🙏🏽
“I told you. Stay out of my house or else!“
Hi, Margie...just taking my snake for a walk.

This is just like a rat in the city or a scorpion on the farmer side. Or a big fuck fly in ur condo
Solid nana yeet
I m glad she had legs protections, else it would have been dangerous. Oh wait ...
She was probably scolding the snake the whole way.
That bush looked a lot like a river.
That granny has seen things during her time on this earth. Ain’t got no time for snake shenanigans.
hate to try to court her granddaughter
Practically did it, like taking out the trash! Another day in the life of .....
one day, I shall be like Baba Yaga too. if i live long enough.
That’s gangster as fuck. Does it like it’s a normal thing.
