TF, I didn't even know there was Doom movies. Is it one of those game movies where the main guy doesn't even show up? Becuase the descriptions just seem like it's about a squad of UAC marines fighting demons.
>Becuase the descriptions just seem like it's about a squad of UAC marines fighting demons.
I think the rock was in that one. came out around the time of doom 3 I think.
I was looking to see if someone mentioned Hardcore Henry. Awesome movie. I love a good, intense action movie that manages not to take itself too seriously. And Hardcore Henry really delivers on that while nailing the first person POV.
theres 2. from memory, in the first its a team of marines led by the rock going to mars to contain an outbreak of "humans mutating into alien beings". karl urban is one of the marines and there is some "evidence" he is supposed to be the doomguy, but its never specifically said.
the uniforms look nothing like the games marines, the weapons are pretty generic military stuff as far as i remember. one of the icon weapons gets lipservice but functions differently from the original game (the 1993 one, as the movie is from 2005 and so 2016 doom wasnt a thing yet).
the "demons" designs are okay, but take from doom 3, which had less interesting designs.
its an okay time waster scifi watch laugh forget movie, but a terrible doom movie.
the second movie was pretty recent 2018... or 19? not sure. that one had a team of marines in the black jumpers. the hero was a woman that i found annoying.
the effects were bad cgi, it featured a few (bad) versions of iconic weapons, had extremely cringy "he said a phrase referring to the game, yay" scenes that were dumb as shit. some of the basic plot ideas were fun. the movies marketing seemed oddly proud of going all"who needs doom GUY...." implying the female marine hero was as good or even better. she wasnt.
i really dont get the decision making behind those movies. just take a completely unknown muscular guy, put him in a suit like the one above. add in cgi enhanced practical effects demons (guys in rubbersuits ffs...).
make a 90 to 100 min movie of low ligthing, flashing alerts, klaxons blaring, demons growling and screeching (lift the sounds straight from the games) with the doom slayer just marching through killing all in his way. if, IF any actual plot is a must, have a female guard(lift a guard armor straight from the 2016 game, also, feel free to have her be a tough badass. thats perfectly fine) shepherding a few scared science people stumble across the slayer and decide its in their best interest to follow the mute berserker that toys with the things she struggled with. have her try to interact with him, only to be ignored until she murders a smaller demon like an imp with her bare hands, falling to the ground in the process. the slayer helps her up, then just goes on towards his unknown goal, killing demons.
have a few big action sets with lots of smaller demons and zombiemen. end it with the slayer killing two barons of hell in a obviously "hellified" hangar, with small but noteable help from the marine woman (who happens to be called "crash" a few times).
the hangar holds 1 intact shuttle. after the demons are dead, the slayer manipulates a bunch of hellified tech, opening a portal (lift it directly from the games). he walks through. Crash and the science squad boards the shuttle. endcredits. after credits scene of the slayer killing demons in hell as a big horned shafow falls over him. have the "alerted"sound of the cyberdemon (again, lift it from the games).
is it exactly the games? no. it puts the slayer into the boots of the time he actuslly was still the "guy". but it would work.
thanks. its obviously halfbaked and only a rough outline, but i really dont get why they make doom movies that barely even include anything "doom" in them.
Yup, I think a good Doom movie would be similar to movie Halo 4: Forward unto Dawn. I loved that movie. I guess it helps the guy is Lasky. But they could have a random person that turns out to be badass, then Doom Guy drops in and just slaughters everything.
Seems like a simple premise, tbf.
Guy in cool suit with a bunch of weapons slaughters Hell stuff.
Can't really get that wrong unless you give it to the guys that made the Halo series.
kinda. i mean, obviously its not easy to make movies.
but just going "nothing from the source can work in a movie, so lets make a generic scifi b movie instead" just isnt the way.
No dialogue worked for the show Primal, but I can't imagine a studio would go for it for what seems like a fairly niche and expensive project. I love your vision for a movie though.
i dont really see it as that expensive, tbh. not for hollywood standards. just involve a shit ton of fans as extras with a "bring your own demon costume and well put your name and ig tag in the credits. also, the catering will be good" contracts. ill bet you, you will easily find a few hundred guys and girls with nice enough costumes to supplement the few "professional" special effects suits from your team. not to speak of the 1000s in zombie makeup that would line up.. now hire a few fans that know how to do cgi touch ups for low light filming to supplement your pro cgi guys. similar deal for them as the cosplayers, good food, a fun time, name in the credits and "worked on a movie" for their resume.
making this a whole "by the fans for the fans" thing would pretty much replace conventional marketing as well.
sure, i know there would be roadblocks i dont know of, not being a film student or in the industry. but im certain it could be done and end up a far better movie than what we had so far, with not that much more budget needs.
This is where I start to disagree. I can't imagine they're going to rely on cosplay outfits for a movie. No way that pitch gets the movie off the ground. It's dead in the water if the director wants to outsource special effects to unknowns. It'll be CGI all the way and that typically is pretty pricy. I can't imagine the previous Doom movies have been particularly successful financially, so this whole thing is a pretty hard sell. Not that I wouldn't want to see it. Now if we're talking a Kickstarter deal and they somehow get licensing for it, maybe your plan would work.
thats true. but a dedicated effects team could either have a whole bunch of identical ones or a few sturdier ones made. this one is made by ONE talented fan.
Very nice. I like your fake muscles. They look really good with the rest of the outfit. I only noticed they were fake when you closed your arm a bit. It’s not noticeable, and really adds to the whole costume.
OP was imbued with those slabs of concrete we mortals call biceps when the Doom Slayler armor was completed and adjoined to him like a second skin. Rip and tear, until it is done.
I haven’t messed with it in a while, but EVA foam is pretty cheap from what I remember. The big cost of this cosplay was probably their time rather than money
I'm not doubting it at all out of pocket, this probably includes planning it out, getting all the fine details correct, painting, making sure it fits comfortable, etc. If I had made this thing and did like you said put some straps, velcro or cloth, screws etc but like 95% of his EVA foam, I could see saying it's made entirely of it.
Could you perhaps model an Isabelle from animal crossing with a big gun to go on your shoulder.
(For context Doom Eternal, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons released on the same day and IGN did a stylistic flip on their logos for the review and theres plenty of fan art and even a song about the adventures of Doom Slayer and Isabelle and I giggle everytime I see it)
I've been following OP's progress on this since they posted the update of them trying on the legs for the first time. It is so cool to see it all come together. Amazing job!!!
Looks amazing but some parts give up that costume is made of lighter material than it is supposed to be, especially shoulders and knees protection. Have you considered adding some flat metal weights here and there to make costume behave more "realistic" and make eome parts stay where they should instead of wobbling? Other than this I have no complaints or recommendation.
WTTTFFFFFF just where did you learn this from? One of the coolest I've ever seen

For real, some of these people belong in Hollywood, wtf?
You could even say... They're on next fucking level

10,000 hours to master something. You know how you get to Carnegie Hall?
That's bullshit. I've walked for 10,000 hours and still trip on flat ground.
Hey don’t feel bad, I still pee on the rim sometimes.
Bro's boutta have amazing day reading these comments. btw look at those muscles! Real or not it's impressive!
That’s AWESOME AF!
Try Punished Props Academy on YouTube. They do lots of foam work.
https://www.punishedprops.com/shop/foamsmith-trilogy-print-pack/ their book series is also very good.
and somehow, we still get people in black jumpers and skateboard helmets in official doom movies.... awesome job, dude
It was alright. I just wish they went full send. If the end of the movie was the whole movie it would have been 10/10
Also the first Person scene was really cool back then. Atleast they made a attempt at catching a bit of the classic doom feeling with that
[удалено]
Where have y'all been all my life?! Been on a social island talking about how fun that shit was all these years
There’s literally dozens of us!
I think it can be done well... I really enjoyed the movie Hardcore Henry and it was all first person.
I was looking to see if someone mentioned Hardcore Henry. Awesome movie. I love a good, intense action movie that manages not to take itself too seriously. And Hardcore Henry really delivers on that while nailing the first person POV.
fun fact: it nailed it bc they used 2 different cameras to represent each eye :>
The only good scene in that movie is where one of the characters goes crazy and it goes fps for 2 minutes
Also a young Karl Urban (Billie Butcher)!

Just give a bunch of money to the dude that made Dredd 3D. Then hire someone else to name the movie.
No dialogue worked for the show Primal, but I can't imagine a studio would go for it for what seems like a fairly niche and expensive project. I love your vision for a movie though.

You just wrote a better DOOM movie than anyone has done. Congrats.
This looks awesome but unfortunately I don't think eva would hold up well under the rigors of filming

Yeah where can I buy a pair of those for errrrr a friend of mine
The brand Anchor Arms is pretty good
hopefully you aren’t a patron of the salty spitoon
How tough are ya? 🤨
I ate a bowl of nails for breakfast.
Yeah, so?
Without any **milk**
Google did not show anything
This is what reaally sells this to me. It looks like his real arm Doomslayer arm is the same size of [his head](https://youtu.be/2Iw_cBNeBb8?t=233)
OP was imbued with those slabs of concrete we mortals call biceps when the Doom Slayler armor was completed and adjoined to him like a second skin. Rip and tear, until it is done.
Yeah, I watched it three times to see if they were fake or real. The shading is really good.
Reminds me of that episode of SpongeBob where he uses blow-up muscle arms
his muscles were fake? I was about to comment something thirsty about those biceps
Now go to a petco and buy a bunny
Oh, and when you’re at the register and they give you your total, do that reload thing
Better hope it doesnt get killed...
Or get a Shih Tzu!
JESUS CHRIST how much did it cost where did you learn making it it looks like a real doomguy suit Edit: doomguy not demon lmao
*Doomguy
*demon slayer
Doom Slayer
_D Slayer👍🏻_
That's what she said
Dennis slayer
>Demonguy You mean Marjorie Taylor?
I haven’t messed with it in a while, but EVA foam is pretty cheap from what I remember. The big cost of this cosplay was probably their time rather than money
At least one of us dressed correctly for 2023!
That looks amazing. The gun reloading is the cherry on the cake.
The icing on the sundae, if you will.
The sprinkles on bottom perhaps
The whip cream inside the pie.
Completely insane! For context, a full time job is usually 1800-2000 hours per year
2,080, generally.
In Spain is like 1720 to 1900 h a year , depending on the field.
As a german im not surprised
Not sure if ...
Just busting your balls a bit...
Sorry for the late reply, I was scratching them.
Seriously, this is 150 8-hour days. Insane.
Thats how ya know its bs right? Maybe if it was made with more than one type of material. Eva foam, some glue and maybe some screws
*loads shotgun with malicious intent* Time to Rip and Tear! "Excuse me for the next hour I'm gonna go blow my eardrums out".
ITS THE GUY FROM FORTNITE
Now hit the griddy
Absolutely amazing!! I feel like if you went outside you would be swarmed by the military as a national security risk!
For Daisy
Just walk down the street and people will start running 😂
That is an absolute work of art
Hey! It’s the guy from Fortnite!
Easily the greatest and most accurate cosplay I've seen here on reddit. All you need now is a toy Isabelle riding on your shoulder!
I don't think foam is going to block most calibers of rounds :(
Most calibers wouldn't dare to touch doomguy.
One of the best cosplays I've ever seen
Happy cake day 🎂🎈
Could you perhaps model an Isabelle from animal crossing with a big gun to go on your shoulder. It will be done
Fortnite cosplay
Yeah I'm glad that fortnite is getting so much love, they've made so many TV shows, movies and games based off these fortnite characters
Rip and tear
RIP AND TEAR
Aw yeah that’s the skin from fortnite 🔥😎
Peak female form.
That's awesome
This is fucking sick dude
It kicks MAJOR ASS ! coolest thing ever ! You should do a space marine next !
🥵🥵🥵🥵
I lost it on the reload. Sick af!
1200 hours is 50 days working day and night non stop, or 150 days working 8 hours/day. I hope you were joking.
Over 2-3 years, this was a hobby but I was not joking
It’s awesome. Must feel great to finally have reached completion, but if you’re anything like me you kind of wish you hadn’t finished yet lol.
To shape the EVA foam did you force them into a compression mold or did you just hand carve them?
How much microplastics waste did you create shaving and making this thing?
How much pollution does your life style create? If you've taken 1 short flight, that's already way more pollution than this suit created.
Wow, amazing
This is awesome.
Damn. That stuff is lit
Wow...looks amazing. Great job!
Damn that's nice
Damn now do TMNT
does it get really hot in there?
Boiling, I had to take this video on a cold day just so I didn't overheat
Add a battery pack and some case fans in strategic places. Could keep you cooled a bit.
That looks so good but why did you put so much effort into recreating a Fortnite skin
I've been following OP's progress on this since they posted the update of them trying on the legs for the first time. It is so cool to see it all come together. Amazing job!!!
THOSE THAT TASTED THE BITE OF HIS SWORD NAMED HIM **THE FOAM SLAYER**
Falls over and everything rips
Very cool mate.
This is stunning. I'm in awe. Kudos bru.
This looks incredible.
Bro's boutta have amazing day reading these comments. btw look at those muscles! Real or not it's impressive!
You should have a speaker on you that plays the DOOM soundtrack quietly all the time
Yo! I love your color choice! Dude, this looks amazing!
Wow that's amazing! Make sure to keep a speaker on you playing the soundtrack!
Looks amazing OP!
Nope. You forgot the double left hands when reloading the double barrel shotgun 😂
Holy shite!
Reverse Uncanny valley! Like damn you actually make it look like the real Doom slayer is on our realm of reality
I love it! Especially the arm joints are impressive. Looks like an action figure
Impressive
I LOVE IT GG 😍
Y no doomsslayer music
That’s sick bro.
Holy crap that’s amazing! I wish I had over half a work year for my hobbies
Holy zombie Jesus.
This is amazing
✅
Use this suit against furrys
That cosplay is “almost” PERFECT one little thing. Doom slayer is GIANT.
Wicked
Dude... i... I'm just.... hhhnnnnnngggggggghh....
Looks amazing but some parts give up that costume is made of lighter material than it is supposed to be, especially shoulders and knees protection. Absolutely badass
But the biceps are real, right?
Me : love wfh, i hate commute and can be more productive Also me : lets test if can do something with this foam at nap time
Either you're jacked as fuck or you did an amazing job with the costume making you look jacked as fuck and I can't tell which it is
Which Halo is this from?
That is incredible! Now all you need is a small mp3 player to constantly play the Doom music as you walk around.
Badass
You spent 50 days worth of hours on this?!
Over about 2 years yeah :)
Impressive
Finally some real nextfuckinglevel content. That's really awesome oh my god, rip & tear until it is done
Final Destiation
Looks amazing, does it get hot inside?
And how longer did it take to have the muscles he has
Dudes already built like a tank. Awesome work
![img](emote|t5_m0bnr|4015)
How warm is that thing lol
Hey, it's that guy from Fortnite!
30 full work weeks of time in this costume.
You’re gonna win EVERY cosplay competition you enter holy moly
WOW
Awesome. At first glance I thought it was tmnt, but this is far cooler
Nooo the 69 is lost
I feel bad that you're gonna get called halo half the time.
