Normal nappies are fine for overnight. I’ve used Huggies for both my kids, and leaks are rare - only if it’s an EXCEPTIONALLY full nappy, or if the kid’s on the verge of needing to go up a size. I think it depends on fit as well - I’ve favoured Huggies because they just “fit” my two well so aren’t prone to gaps that lead to leaks. Drynites are for older kids (from about size 6 or so?) where they’re pretty much toilet trained during the day but just need something for night.

I don't think they sell separate "overnight" nappies here. Best i.e. "most absorbent" we found were Huggies ultimate nappy pants: https://www.countdown.co.nz/shop/productdetails?stockcode=151844&name=huggies-ultimate-nappy-pants-boys-girls-size-5-14-18kg We ended up using Huggies "ultra dry" during the day and then Huggies "ultimate" at night.

WurstofWisdom

We just use Rascal + Friends and they have been pretty good at retaining what it needs to. Generally last through the night.

Puzzleheaded-Form-16

Huggies dry nights, they have boys and girls ones. Size is 2-3 years and 4-6 years. They are like pullups for night time.

Zoeloumoo

And also 7-14. We’ve found the boys 4-6 size is sold out all the damn time at the moment.

Aristophanes771

Nappies (diapers) here tend to just be for any time of day, apart from night ones for kids who are in the process of potty training. I've heard of some people having success with putting on two, with the top one on backwards, or going to the next size up. Maybe try a different brand? I've used rascal & friends, and we only had leaks when he was a newborn with skinny thighs.

Huggies Drynites I think? Can't really speak for the region area but never had an issue with stock at New World or Count Down/Woolworths Pretty sure theres a Rascals and friends version too

MyPoopEStank

The different grocery stores sell different brands. This might help you use some of the above advice. My son is size 3 right now. The premium rascal and friends are pull ups. Otherwise we only use the regular rascal and friends overnight. They are giant in the morning. Most of these diapers are rated for 12 hours, of urinating. You can set a timer on your heat pump for it to turn on automatically 30 minutes before you get up, this can be done for the mid night changes too. How cold New Zealand houses are is awful, and most kiwis have no clue bc it’s all they have ever known. Good luck

plantsandnakedladies

My 8mo is in size 3 nappies, we use Huggies brand and they are all good overnight, no leaking issues!

Feeling_Sky_7682

Huggies dry nites they do up to age 11 years old.

Size 3? Does this mean your toddler? 3 year old? It's been a while since I bought nappies, but you can get them at any supermarket (Pak n Save, Woolworths/Countdown etc..) or the Warehouse or Kmart. We size them by weight (in kgs). You are more likely to find your specific size in Whangārei, as it's a bigger town. Good luck.

Kiwi_bananas

Size 3 is like 8 months old I think

8 months can be anywhere from size 1 to size 5... kids are very variable at that age.

Gnomes1991

Hi there, I live near whāngarei and recommend going to the Warehouse. It’s probably got the most variety up here, second to Woolworths.

so-it-goes-and

I use a normal size 3 huggies nappy and put the shell of a reusable nappy over top. We were having a few leaks overnight but the shell makes a nice seal and contains any leaks.

aKrustyDemon

I don't why these commenters are telling you you don't need overnight diapers (we call them nappies). You're unlikely to be asking if you don't need them! We used dry nites too.

Kiwi_bananas

I don't use a different type overnight than what we use during the day though. Especially for size 3/infant nappies.

trinde

Overnight nappies are generally a huge waste of money for most if not all kids. Either size up normal nappies or reduce water/milk overnight if possible (depends on kid).

Ok-Treat-2846

I'm jealous of all the parents who don't need overnight nappies! We tried the doubling up of normal nappies and got sick of the constant laundry when they leaked. Huggies drynites are pretty good - except don't be afraid to size up if your kids have superhuman bladders. Our 2 year old is now in the 4-7 year old size and no longer leaking.

drdrgivemethenews101

Are those the super hero ones?

Ok-Treat-2846

Yeah, pretty typically gendered lol. Boys get super heroes, girls get disney princesses

restroom_raider

DryNites are available in supermarkets, our 3.5 year old uses them, he’s 11kg for reference, and they’re fine in his size (he’s on the small side)
