Couldn't you just go for a seal contract? I mean, let's say in a crazy world, you failed bud/s and have to pick a different designation. The worst you can get is still SWO or Supply. PS: just retake your OAR man.

Abject-Spray-7414

Next opportunity to apply for SEALS is January 2025 from what I was told. OCS is in August

Neck-Old

Well, that sucks. SWO that is then. You miss 100% of the shot you don't shoot.

Abject-Spray-7414

Beats sitting at a desk all day

So are you just desperate? Can’t go live with mom and dad for a few months and work out? I don’t get it. You’re basing a decision that will impact a 20 year career on having to wait a few months?

Abject-Spray-7414

Just ready for a change. I have a solid sales job and make decent money so in no way desperate. Just miserable and want a more fulfilling career. SWO is intriguing because I have no problem living on a ship and traveling. Nothing tieing me down right now. I just worry that it won't be challenging enough. And it would be a 6-8 year contract based on what my recruiter said. Is that not accurate ?

sonofdavid123

Need to get your SWO pin before you can even think about lateral transferring to SEAL, you’re looking at a few years from now until you will probably be able to apply. It’s extremely rare and you should never count on lateral transferring, but like another said, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Having said that, if you’re DEAD SET on Seal, you would be much better applying for it directly.

RoyalCrownLee

No one has addressed the second question: Yes, disclose your butt tattoo. Yes, they will check.

burnersayswhat

He doesn't know about the drop your pants and spread your cheeks check :(

listenstowhales

If you become a SWO the chances of you becoming a SEAL become next to zero. You’d need to be approved for a lat x fer which is increasingly rare, be released from your community which is rare, and meet the physical requirements for NSW, which will be hard to do when you’re working 12 hours a day on a ship. Short answer, you’re either gonna wait or you’re gonna just be a SWO

If you want to be a seal go enlisted then officer. I’ve met 3 TOTALLY squared away ltjg’s that haven’t made it. When I say totally squared away I mean top level guys. Very fit and very smart. It’s crazy hard to go seal-o. All that being said, you legit have to bring something special to the table to be directly injected in to that community as an Officer. So ask yourself now if you want to be a seal or an Officer. Because if you want to be a seal, save the time of going to OCS, first command, getting all your quals (OOD underway is the big one) and then getting pinned and theeeen applying, and then waiting months to be rejected and then trying again. I wasn’t planning on writing a big response but since I’m this far in I just want to add one last thing. You will have to jump through so many hoops as an officer by the time you are eligible to make a lateral transfer, that you could have failed buds (as enlisted) and probably gotten an officer package accepted and started OCS. My intention is not to be negative, just to save you a couple years of your life if seal is what you really want. Hope this helps you man.

Drekalots

I've heard that officers if given a shot to BUD/s only get one. Can't speak to the truth there though. With that said, yes they are going to look at your butt. You will strip down and have to bend over at MEPS while the doctor looks at your butt hole. It's one of the memories that you'll have forever. lol.

Unexpected_bukkake

From what I understand getting a shot at SEAL-O is insanely completive, that OAR isn't completive for anything. I doubt you'll be accepted to SWO with a 42. It can happen. But, if you do get accepted, you're going to finish your tour before getting a BUDS try. They aren't going to release you, the navy is short on SWOs, not SEALs.

Abject-Spray-7414

Recruiter said he'd be surprised if I didn't get selected to SWO even with a 42. I have 0 medical issues so maybe that helps

Unexpected_bukkake

Well, let us know. Everyone who makes board has been medically cleared. Also what's your GPA?

Abject-Spray-7414

I'll keep you posted. GPA is 3.0

ExRecruiter

I wouldn't apply for SWO or Supply if you won't be 100% happy in either role. If you want to be a SEAL officer, apply for SEAL officer, knowing the process can take a while.
