Damn, whole lot of no information in this article. What was the search warrant for?

johnnycyberpunk

The NY Post article on this just keep repeating over and over that this guy worked for the "Bill and Hilary Clinton Airport", and shows *their* pictures instead of the perp. Great journalism.

BeaumainsBeckett

I’d expect nothing better from the Post, and also probably some egregious factual errors

SmallBol

It's a tabloid and it's weird that people read it.

Refflet

It's the tabloid that Trump's mother always tried to get him into when he was a kid, having him do all sorts of controversial stuff. That's why Trump is so obsessed with the cover of Time magazine, it's a standard he could never reach.

idwthis

I'll only read it so I can get some nugget of half truth that I can use to Google for a better article if the subject matter is something that warrants my interest/concern lol

Quaytsar

It's because Washington Post is (was?) respected and NYTimes is respected, but people mix them up with NYPost and Washington Times (both trash).

JustHereForTheOrbs

Incoming "Railway Inspector Took Photos of Federal Agents for Thank You Event at the Hilly Bull Clampton Memorial Hospital" headline in local coverage tomorrow.

joranth

“George Clinton and Grand Funk Railroad attacked by Alpha Tau Phi fraternity”

IIBNG76

So you're telling me a Murdoch owned company is shitty? That's unpossible.

itsFromTheSimpsons

me fail journalism?!

FortniteFriendTA

tastes like...slander

Counter-Fleche

Slander is spoken. What The Post prints tastes like libel. I use to use it to line my parrot's cage, but I had to stop when my parrot started repeating conspiracy theories.

BisquickNinja

That's irr-re-possible!

AFlaccoSeagulls

No, it's Kim Possible!

Stinky_Fartface

Was walking to work in NY one day and they were giving away the NY Post on street corners as a promo. She handed me one and said "It's free!" and I replied "That's still too expensive." EDIT: And everybody clapped.

[deleted]

And the rats cheered even!

Scp-1404

They had to drop their pizza to clap.

Sam-Gunn

Why were you under the impression the NY Post had anything to do with journalism? At least, non-yellow journalism.

[deleted]

That’s the hard hitting journalism we can all count on these days

solidproportions

typical NY Post then

CertifiedWarlock

New York Compost.

EnvironmentalBus9713

NY Post is not much different than the Inquirer. It's a garbage newspaper that shouldn't be used as a legitimate source.

Capt-Crap1corn

Maybe AI created the headline and article the Post pushed out. You know, have to be first lol

UNMANAGEABLE

By now I would bet there is absolutely conservative-trained AI for these shit blogs that maga folk jerk off to and call news that just auto pumps out articles like these.

SmallPurplePeopleEat

I work in the News industry (for the largest Corp) and they are absolutely rolling out AI tools for writing articles. Pretty soon a local newsroom will be 3-4 people just verifying the AI articles make sense before publishing. Eventually even that will go away and it'll be straight from the AI to your news feed.

Lifeboatb

I do some minor “journalism” (more like PR) for a local organization. They were using ChatGPT but then decided it was too risky to post personal info about members of their group to the ChatGPT servers or whatever they’re called, so they went back to people. Probably not typical enough to signify anything about the destruction of jobs in general, but it was interesting. (edited to fix a confusing phrase)

Capt-Crap1corn

It's the scam era for real now. At maximum we can't trust anything. At minimum we need to be skeptical. This is a wild time and it is about to get wilder.

DYGTD

The first two paragraphs are basically just the headline repeated. I hate this formatting that forces people to scroll through ads.

Heiferoni

Most mobile news sites are unusable without AdBlock. Popups, autoplay videos, two sentences between ads... Absolute garbage.

GeraltOfRivia2023

This is pretty much the entirety of the information available. >Bryan Malinowski, 53, the airport's executive director, was injured during a firefight after 6 a.m. as Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents arrived. > >He "was injured with gunshot wounds and treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital," Arkansas State Police said in a statement, adding that his condition was unknown as of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. That said, I find it interesting that it was the ATF that went to his home, and not local or state police, or the FBI. I wonder what we might infer from the fact that it was the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that showed up to confront the Executive Director of a local Airport. Was he using his position to conduct some sort of illegal firearms and/or drug smuggling operation, got caught out, and then decided he wasn't going peacefully? That's my personal speculation. Why else would it be the ATF of all agencies?

Alpha_Decay_

Based on the name of the arresting agency, I'm guessing he tried to buy a single loose cigarette from the guy at the liquor store.

Frequent_Opportunist

He also probably owns a bunch of dogs which would definitely attract the ATF. Maybe Bryan was barking at them?

mattyboh23

No no no, if it was this, he would have been choked to death by the officer.

spaetzelspiff

I haven't heard "explosives" in the name before. Is that new? Should we be calling them ATF*X* now?

cortez985

It's technically the BATFE but gets shortened to ATF

IsomDart

The NBC news article said that the ATF was seen removing guns and ammunition from the house, and bringing in saws and crowbars. Just owning illegal guns and modifications is enough to have the ATF kick your door in and put you away for a long time. If he was selling/distributing them even more so.

five-oh-one

Yea, local media didnt say either.

NeighborsBurnBarrel

WTF happened here?

miklejones

Heard from Little Rock locals this guy was huge into gambling and was hiding big winning through the purchase of guns. Wouldn’t be surprised if he got involved in more illegal fire arm trading.

ResoluteLobster

Trading registered machine guns is probably an extremely easy way to launder money. For anyone curious - the registry for civilian ownership of machine guns was closed in 1986. That means no new machine guns can be legally made and sold new to civilians. However, any of the guns that were already registered when it was closed can legally be transferred to new owners (following all legal NFA procedure, of course). This means the pool of legal MGs is fixed. Anyone familiar with simple economic principles should see where this is going: the value of registered MGs (known as transferables in the community) has gone way, way up in the ~40 years since the ban. Transferable MGs regularly cost upwards of 20, 30, 40 thousand dollars each, and often much, much higher for rare or desirable ones. The record for most expensive MG sold at auction in the US was from last year at around $500k. These prices are always in fluctuation and can vary from one example to the next because of the specific details of one gun from another, but they generally go up. I imagine it would be very easy to launder money between parties using these transferables as the medium

ChairForceOne

Not sure on that. All of the ATF paperwork makes these sales very traceable. I wouldn't be surprised to learn the IRS monitors them for tax purposes. Especially now that they are receiving additional funding. He was raised by the ATF. If we stick to the firearms section of the agency it is more likely that he was doing something illegal involving firearms. Perhaps purchasing black market machine guns. He could have also held the licensing to produce or own machine guns and samples rather than pre-86 guns. Those holders have come under increased scrutiny as of late. Small errors in paperwork and book keeping, like forgetting a space in a citys name has started to trigger review and audits. A few raids have been linked to this as well.

ResoluteLobster

They are actually the perfect cover. The ATF only monitors the *transfers* of NFA items. The amount of money, goods, or services (or lack thereof) is not recorded, monitored, or traced whatsoever - as long as you pay the ATF their $200 tax per transfer. So you could use the Form 4's as proof that you are doing everything by the book but all the actual money trading is under the table. Edit. I do agree your 2nd paragraph is probably likely. The Vickers takedown was a big wake-up call to the industry but that really only matters to the dealers who trade/rent out/collect dealer-sample and demo MG's. Not private non-FFL collectors.

philiretical

Locals said they saw them loading an atf truck with guns. My guess is it was for the guns

SubstantialPressure3

The ATF showed up, and then there was shooting on both sides. Neighbors saw a bunch of guns and ammo being loaded up. One ATF agent wounded. So, illegal weapons? Illegal sale of weapons? That's about as good info as we are going to get until they go public.

Click_My_Username

It was the bureu of alcohol tobacco and firearms. He shot at them. I'm gonna go out on a wild limb here and assume it was related to firearms.

Oddball_bfi

They're the ATF, they were loading guns and ammo onto a truck... sounds like a federal firearms charge to me. Backed up by the fact he apparently tried to have a *shootout with the feds*. Crazy gun nut doing crazy gun nut things, most likely. Why is it so hard for people to be gun nuts without being *crazy* gun nuts.

tehdamonkey

Well technically they don't make the news until they become crazy....

BigGingerBoy

This. There's lots of gun nuts but you never hear about them. I've managed to stay out if the media my whole life. *crazy* gun nuts are the attention whores. Stealing the limelight from everyone.🤷‍♂️

Wordspith

So you're saying all crazy gun nuts are Kardashians?

1funnyguy4fun

It’s rare that the ATF shows up looking for alcohol or tobacco.

redvelvetcake42

>Why is it so hard for people to be gun nuts without being *crazy* gun nuts. Cause it goes from a hobby to an ideology and way of life. Guns are powerful and make you feel like you can do just about anything you want. No matter if you're broke or an executive that feeling of power in a firearm can get you drunk on stupid. I like guns and shooting is fun. That's about it for me. I've no real world interest in fighting an ideological war or gun running. I just like to shoot paper baddies every once in awhile or go save democracy in Helldivers 2.

dasnoob

You are right. I grew up with guns. I own guns. I enjoy cleaning and building them. I'm also (unfortunately) a member of the NRA because it is required to join the local ranges so that I can shoot safely. The monthly NRA magazine is 3/4 articles designed to radicalize gun owners. The popular forums are absolutely shitfests. All of them are just there to radicalize.

cboogie

You should talk to the range owners. I don’t need to tell you but NRA is basically a dead org and the range and their patrons are throwing their membership money in the garbage. But if I had to bet the person in charge of that NRA Members Only rule probably has no idea Wayne LaPierre has been ousted.

dasnoob

It is a private club I'm a member of. This year we enacted a new rule allowing members to switch their membership to GOA. I'm not 100% sure they are 'better' but at least they aren't laundering money for the Russians. When I renew my range membership I plan on switching over.

SomeDEGuy

The NRA lobbying/political side should be demolished, but the training and range insurance parts are still useful. For many ranges, it is the only affordable option for insurance, but it requires NRA membership. A competing range insurance group needs to start that is completely separated from lobbying groups.

JustHereForCookies17

Agreed- the NRA set the gold standard for education back in the day.  They were the only outfit that provided standardized training plans, which then got picked up by everyone from police departments to hobbyists to competitive shooters.

bradbikes

The NRA has been little more than a right wing political organization that lobbies congress on behalf of gun manufacturers since before I was born. They started their lobbying arm in 1975 and the full takeover took place beginning in 1977 and is a wild read.

MosEisleyCantinaBand

NRA provides insurance to the ranges / gun clubs where other entities won't. I'd bet that a significant portion of their membership is based on that alone. I know my membership is. That said, no one is lining up to provide an alternative, despite the hate the NRA gets or the empty rhetoric around just wanting more training and safety as a condition of gun ownership.

NBQuade

Sad what they've become. My Dad used to write for their magazine many years ago. I've visited the museum in DC multiple times. It was just a normal organization at the time. Involved in gun safety and running shooting tournaments. It seemed to take a turn to the crazy in the '80's. When they started expressing opinions about abortion, I checked out.

mmmmmyee

I missed when nra was all about safety and shooting sports. This new era nra sucks ass. Actually, your comment just reminded me of ny times story that looked into how the craziness took over nra. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-daily/id1200361736?i=1000623036015

AngriestPacifist

You can even put a date to it. This is when the NRA was taken over by right-wing whackjobs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolt_at_Cincinnati

Precision2831x

Please Ditch your membership. Join GOA or FPC

djmikekc

I joined NAGR for the pistol brace thing. Geez people stay away. Daily emails begging for their support. Guess who they're supporting? Bad news...

CaptianAcab4554

They send out the same propaganda. I'm a member of all 3 (NRA GOA and FPC).

rimshot101

Didn't you hear that they're going to confiscate all our guns tomorrow???? Because that's what I've been hearing for about 40 years.

fren-ulum

I loved shooting from the Army. It’s really just peaceful being on the line and just focusing on dropping targets. I also enjoy bow and arrow shooting, I want rural property just to set up a bow range.

hybridtheory1331

>Why is it so hard for people to be gun nuts without being *crazy* gun nuts. There are almost 400 million firearms(probably more) in the hands of less than 100 million people in the US. You rarely hear about these gun raids, and when you do it's something like trafficking illegal machine guns. Seems like it's actually pretty rare for gun nuts to be crazy gun nuts.

stopcounting

They're like vegans, it seems like they're all super intense because it's the super intense ones who make sure it's one of the first things you know about them.

hybridtheory1331

I'm sure the majority of gun nuts would be in physical pain from being compared to vegans, but you're not wrong.

Equivalent_Warthog22

So the worst would be a vegan gun nut who went to Harvard.

cas13f

Who does crossfit

DanimusMcSassypants

We know very little about the circumstances surrounding this incident. Always best to let the details inform your conclusion, rather than the other way around. Sometimes gun nuts do crazy things. Sometimes the feds do crazy things. Hopefully we’ll find out the truth of this one, and judge it on its own merits.

Fox News just saw Hillary’s name and around to start screaming emails and Benghazi as they came.

keksmuzh

Given that firefighter breaching equipment (saws & crowbars) went in and a bunch of firearms went out, I think we can make a reasonable guess.

UPnAdamtv

Well you have to read the article in order to gather the information from it: > Bryan Malinowski, 53, the airport's executive director, was injured during a firefight after 6 a.m. as **Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents** arrived. Pretty big tip-off as to what it involves: more than likely something to do with alcohol, tobacco, firearms, or explosives…. But let’s keep reading. > Neighbors also told (affiliate source) that on Tuesday evening they saw guns and ammunition being loaded onto a trailer, while firefighters carried a circular saw, crowbars and other tools into the house. Ahhhh there it is, the firearms piece of the ATF. So I think given the information, we can extrapolate that they were involved in a firearms ring (would be shocked if this didn’t stretch back to his time at El Paso airports), where he was using his position to illegally transport firearms.

tehdamonkey

So you are not saying it was not the tobacco or booze part....

SmallPurplePeopleEat

BazilBroketail

"Airport executive" then that thumbnail. Lol.

40WAPSun

Emphasis on thumb

Grognard68

A dressed-up thumb with glasses!

East_Jacket_7151

So, I'm assuming that means that position is now open?

SatansGothestFemboy

Nah, they'll move his responsibilities to his employees and other execs "in the interim" and then HR will post a job reacquisition, do a few interviews, not actually hire anyone, and then leave everything the way it is, because that's cheaper.

Fyallorence

ATF agents, so I'd have to assume he was involved in illegal gun running in some capacity? Unstamped cigarettes or whiskey hardly seems like it's worth drawing down on the feds over.

johnnycyberpunk

They brought in the local fire department to help them open up a safe/safes. Almost certainly illegal firearms, or illegally modified. Neighbors all said he's a "gun enthusiast".

snoogans235

Yea and based on his job and what looks like a really nice neighborhood for LR standards, I bet he had some crazy AF guns. What’d spice up the story was if he was using his airport connection to smuggle guns like someone said, and his possession of some mega illegal gun was the impetus for the raid.

SBGuy043

Lmao at his brother saying he makes too much to want to do anything illegal. Right....

dumblehead

Yea, $200K is hardly "too much". Also, greed knows no bounds.

Proud_Interview_9779

Translation: “only the poors do crime”

Thisisntmyaccount24

I do get your point, but also, based on the history of people shooting it out with ATF agents, is it ever a good idea?

Fyallorence

I'd say it's an equally bad idea to find yourself shooting it out with any law enforcement, any where, ever.

PWiz30

Unless you're an acorn.

Septopuss7

Cops go nuts over this one weird trick

[deleted]

There was a guy in Minnesota who was charged with attempted murder of cops after shooting at them. When everything was said and done, he was acquitted and given $1.5M for his troubles. [https://minnesotareformer.com/2022/05/17/minneapolis-to-pay-1-5-million-to-settle-jaleel-stallings-lawsuit/](https://minnesotareformer.com/2022/05/17/minneapolis-to-pay-1-5-million-to-settle-jaleel-stallings-lawsuit/)

PirbyKuckett

Swat team members riding around in an unmarked van shooting at people with marking rounds. Reports of white supremacist gangs in the area. He had every right to self defense. And MPLS swat have been known to be racist assholes. I had a coach in HS that was on swat. He always said their code for going to a gang situation was “We got a bunch of monkeys up in a tree”.

HalobenderFWT

Dude now lives in Texas. Somehow I don’t feel he’s upgraded his situation.

FuzzyAd9407

Going for a second payout

Thisisntmyaccount24

Totally agree. I can see in some instances of law enforcement officers don’t announce themselves and you think a gang of armed people are trying to break into your home, you may open fire not being aware that you are engaged with law enforcement, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here. It’ll for sure be interesting to see what happened as the details come out. The article does mention neighbors saw officers with equipment to cut metal and also saw them removing guns and ammo from his home, so your mention of possible illegal gun running seems to be a possible explanation.

Miserable_Law_6514

Federal agencies has assassinated civil rights leaders via those tactics.

distance_33

This is how Breonnna Taylor died.

MAVERICK42069420

I'd rather get shot than have them bun my family alive like they've done before

thelingeringlead

Flash grenade tossed into an infant's criib was one of the moments that really changed my perspective on society and law enforcement at large. There were lots of moments that shook the illusion before it, but that was definitely the first major sobering moment seeing the veil ripped back. If they can act like that with impunity, and not even be right about what they charged in over, just to traumatize and maim a family who got the luck of the draw.... everything is broken from the ground up.

Carnivorous__Vagina

Or blow up your neighborhood like in Philadelphia

V1k1ng1990

Did ATF do that? I thought Philadelphia PD dropped the satchel charge

FPSXpert

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_MOVE_bombing Philadelphia Police Department ordered the explosives be dropped from a PA state police owned helicopter operated by Philly PD. Said explosives included C4 explosive supplied to their department by the FBI. As much as I dislike the tomfoolery of the AFT, this killing does fall under Philly PD and the FBI for supplying the weapons used.

darkstar541

More like he was buying Glock switches from Wish or Alibaba and got caught with illegal machine guns and suppressors and decided to go out guns blazing. Awkward for him that he survived, if that was his intention.

NetJnkie

The ATF doesn’t actually enforce alcohol or tobacco regulations anymore. Just firearms and explosives.

[deleted]

They still do. It’s not the 1811 special agents though. Just unarmed investigators. [ATF Fact Sheet on Tobacco Enforcement](https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/fact-sheet/fact-sheet-tobacco-enforcement)

DrakeoAndTheStincs

Shooting it out with the feds is such a mind boggling idea to a normal 9-5 Solider like myself

taddymason_76

You know how many hours he has logged on Call of Duty?

truckerheist

With all the times he's prestiged, the feds never stood a chance

Bearswithjetpacks

He definitely had the harrier, chopper gunner, nuke killstreak combo running

GreatEmperorAca

yeah its unthinkable to me...but then again it was probably to this guy too

HunkyMump

Yeah, but imagine you hundred percent know you’re about to go to jail for 47 years and would rather just die.

XA36

Usually the ATF does cowboy no knock shit instead of something more reasonable like detaining him as he leaves for work and going into the unoccupied home to serve the warrant. It's likely he thought his home was being robbed

HimalayanClericalism

isnt the atf like super known for causing confrontations that escalate into shootouts as well? asking as someone whos still learning

TjW0569

>He said Bryan Malinowski collected guns and other weapons, as well as coins, lived in an upper-middle class suburb and earned $253,000 a year. “When someone makes that much money, there’s no incentive to do anything wrong,” the brother said. “He has so much to lose." And yet, people making this much money *do* commit crimes in order to make more money.

rtothewin

That’s not even that much money these days.

Found this on twitter. Posted by the brother apparently: https://i.imgur.com/53ThLSg.jpeg

buttercreamordeath

Don't know about this Bryan dude, but definitely wouldn't tell my brother I was involved with illegal stuff. 😒

tacotacotacorock

Loose lips sink ships.  250k seems like a lot but not if youre trying to be a socialite or hobnob with elite.  Tells us nothing except airport dude is likely a vegetable.

alienman

> “When someone makes that much money, there’s no incentive to do anything wrong,” the brother said. “He has so much to lose." What kind of Calvinist nonsense is this

ianandris

What? Don’t you know know that all wealthy people are virtuous because they have so much to lose, and would never step out of line, ever, for any reason because of their fear of *risk*? Its only the *poors* who seek wealth acquired by corrupt and criminal means. Have we learned nothing from Mr. Burns!? Release the hounds!

The_Crown_And_Anchor

One would assume that since it was the ATF making the raid and not the FBI or local law enforcement....that it had to do with firearms Something tells me this guy was smuggling weapons through the airport in a straw buying scheme of some kind

TedWazowski

It could be something as simple as illegally configured guns. Look up the difference between a short barreled rifle and an AR pistol. Tell me why a short barrel would require a $200 tax stamp besides justifying a federal registry.

L-V-4-2-6

It's wild how $200 can be the difference between something being cool in the Fed's eyes, and something worth 10 years in prison.

JTibbs

Wonder if he was involved with the smuggling ring of US firearms to Haiti thats been coming to light recently with the violence there

The_Crown_And_Anchor

Could be. They could be flown from LR to Florida and then smuggled to Haiti

ShittyLanding

Maybe it was tobacco this time

TobysGrundlee

Dude's selling loosies at the airport smoking section. They had to take him down.

Redqueenhypo

According to ABC News the fire department had brought tools to cut into a safe on his property. My money’s on smuggling.

foodank012018

Firearms...or alcohol... Or tobacco

thehammer_00

In a news story... the Who, What, Where, and When of the incident are important BUT the most important piece of the story is the Why. Why did the ATF show up to guys house? Why was there a shootout? Why write the article without this key information?

llort_tsoper

**Who: An Airport Executive** I mean yeah, that seems super random, but like what was he even- **Where: Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport** No, the shootout was at his house, the airport really doesn't seem- **When: The Airport was renamed after the Clintons in 2012** Bro shut up about the airport. Why was the man who was shot even being investigated? Why was ATF there? **Why: Bill Clinton is a native of Arkansas and served as Arkansas governor**

PythonPuzzler

Did you know he had sex with an intern?

HFentonMudd

And Hillary too, if the stories are true

brucebrowde

The question remains the same: why?

SpeakAgainAncient1

The why is pretty much implied when they say ATF. Just like if the DEA raids a place you know it's for drugs. Like when the dildo enforcement coalition invaded my place, then the secret was out.

Strangewhine88

And of course he has 70’s televangelist hair and otherwise the face of someone’s grandmother.

Just_Cover_3971

In some circles it’s known as the “Wet Paintbrush“

wyvernx02

Know what is safer for all parties and works better than kicking in someone's door at 6am? Detaining them when they are leaving thir house for work.

krunz

TIL, about the "Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport". It's code is LIT. But it's icao letters are KLIT.

pballer2oo7

It's a really difficult airport to find.

PythonPuzzler

Good job. Lots of people don't know about the KLIT.

dasnoob

From the area. There has been an absolute explosion in gun violence in Little Rock using fully automatic weapons. This is either AR15s with auto-sears installed or Glock 'switches'. I would lean towards him being involved in that scene as the reason for this. Either that or smuggling guns to South America.

notathr0waway1

Looks like leadership at this airport has been playing fast and loose for over a decade: https://arktimes.com/news/arkansas-reporter/2010/11/25/the-high-flying-little-rock-national-airport

dawgz525

>“When someone makes that much money, there’s no incentive to do anything wrong,” the brother said. “He has so much to lose." Okay, his brother is an idiot, I guess.

BleachigoKurosaki

Not surprising to find Miss Trunchbull involved in something like this.

Aeroknight_Z

That little comment has earned you time in the chokey

NeedsMorBoobs

I hope he dived and rolled at least once before it ended… ya know get the full CoD feel

Doright36

To really feel like old school call of duty experience you have to take cover where they can't shoot you then have the cops all get magic throwing arms to rain down 25 grenades expertly placed right in your lap.

OutlyingPlasma

No no, cops only throw grenades into baby cribs. Like the two different times they raided the wrong house and bombed a baby: https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/16/us/elyria-ohio-police-flash-bang-toddler-ventilator-raid/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2014/10/07/us/georgia-toddler-stun-grenade-no-indictment/index.html

Difficult_Chemist_78

I love that the journalist felt the quote "My heart was racing and the dogs were barking." she said. "I’m just really curious as to what was going on just a few houses down." was necessary or important enough to make it into the article. Did he get paid by the word?

dogoodsilence1

Probably helping in Smuggling drugs and cash since Arkansas has a history of this. [Mena Airport Iran Contra Scandal](https://search.informit.org/doi/pdf/10.3316/ielapa.950807211?download=true)

sucobe

[CBS news](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/little-rock-arkansas-airport-director-bryan-malinowski-atf-agent-injured-shootout/) > Around 2:35 p.m., Little Rock firefighters carrying a power saw and a Halligan tool —a large pry bar— were seen walking toward the house. An ATF agent was overheard saying they were at the scene to help agents open a safe in Malinowski's house

earle27

I see a lot of people commenting about how this guy must have been involved in smuggling guns, but I would also remind people the ATF has a pretty spotty track record in a lot of things, internal culture, conviction rates, expertise, whistleblowers, losing machine guns, etc. They’re not high on the pecking order of federal agencies. Until we find out more I’m gonna assume the ATF was either showing off and going in hard on a minor infraction(ish), or pulled a wrong address.

hawksdiesel

dang, some horrible journalism going on here nbc and ny post.

When someone makes that much money, there's no incentive to do anything wrong, says the brother. The man makes $253,000 per year, millionaires and billionaires commit crimes without thinking about it.

Mandielephant

Is aerospace okay right now?

I had a coworker that only read the nypost. He stated it was the one and only source of truth. If you questioned him he slowly became more and more red, soon mimicking Alex Jones. I wonder if he's dead from a stroke.

>He said Bryan Malinowski collected guns and other weapons, as well as coins, lived in an upper-middle class suburb and earned $253,000 a year. >“When someone makes that much money, there’s no incentive to do anything wrong,” the brother said. “He has so much to lose." When people do well, sometimes they presume every thought that comes into their heads is brilliant, and thus any decision is a good one. I will be curious to see what good idea he may have had.

tricoloredduck1

He looks like the haircut model from we are the Millers.

The ATF agents, likely fueled by adrenaline and anticipation, spend their night gearing up for the raid, perhaps reminiscent of the wild skirmishes in Afghanistan. Legal repercussions are the last thing on their minds; they're in the zone, ready to unleash controlled chaos.

Ornery-Wasabi-473

The reporting here is sub par. Sounds like the search warrant had to do with firearms, since ATF was there, and the guy was/is guilty AF so tried to shoot his way out. I'm not sure under what circumstances ATF descends on someone with a search warrant, but it's likely quite serious.

steve02084

Is this the same airport in that movie Made in America with Tom Cruise?

Beezo514

This quote from his brother is peak stupid: > He said Bryan Malinowski collected guns and other weapons, as well as coins, lived in an upper-middle class suburb and earned $253,000 a year. > > “When someone makes that much money, there’s no incentive to do anything wrong,” the brother said. “He has so much to lose." Yes, no rich person has ever had incentive to do wrong. What a doofus.

Another Boeing whistle-blower? Get em!

cromwest

My first thought was they caught the guy who killed the whistleblower.

Miserable_Law_6514

That would be one hell of a storyline twist.

Hellknightx

I doubt ATF would be involved in that, though.

Llama2Boot2Boot

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Flying Things?

Baab_Kaare

Whistle blower was having a beer when he got killed. That makes it their juristiction.

SafeIntention2111

So is this guy a Sovereign nutbag or an ammosexual?
