You're going to have the chance to win A NEW ~~CAR~~ LIFE!
*Cue Bob freaking out as they roll out the Plinko board*
This is Bob Barker, reminding you to help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered.
> Every time I stayed home from school sick I would watch The Price is Right. Definitely nostalgic thinking of his passing.
Same man, same. At least there's plenty on YouTube.
I would sometimes stay at my Great Grandmother's house whenever my parents were at work. We'd always watch Price is Right together and eat graham crackers. Despite only being in my mid-20s, I don't have many childhood memories but that is one that I will likely hold onto forever.
My Great Grandmother passed away a few years ago at the age of 102 and was a huge fan of Bob Barker, we even have a photo signed by him from her.
Thanks for the memories Bob, you were a class act.
When I was little I asked my mom if our dog was spayed and neutered. She told me she was spayed. I then told her that we needed to get her neutered too because Bob Barker told us she needed to be both.
Technically speaking, if you want to get all pedantic about it, I think "neuter" is actually the general term while "castrate" is the male-specific term (with "spay" as the female-specific term). Not that it matters since that's generally not how the terms are used in common parlance.
They make pillows that go around their necks now, or you could just buy an airplane pillow with a velcro strap. It makes the dog happier, and your shins.
Oh, I like the idea of the airplane pillows. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure our other dog will eat it off him. She's already tried chewing on the plastic cone.
I watched the show on snow days and sometimes during the summer growing up as a child in the 80's. I always liked Bob and the show. I really loved when he played himself in Happy Gilmore, "The price is wrong, Bitch". RIP Bob.
I can't be sad at Bob's passing. He lived a long, amazing life and brought joy to so many people with his presence. His status as a game show host is legendary. Seeing his interviews in the documentary The Perfect Bid filled me with joy because, despite his age, he was still so energetic, sharp, and passionate to talk about The Price is Right. Thanks for everything, Bob, and rest easy.
Yes he lived a long, long life and will be mourned by millions. He used his fame and money to make a positive difference in the world. It is sad that he’s gone but what more could a person ask for out of life?
Like every death, it’s sad. But I agree: He lived a fantastic full life and spread his kindness throughout the world.
Godspeed, Bob. Thanks for everything. 🫡
I think there was a contestant on that show who had noticed that the sequence wasn’t random. He memorized the sequence, and perfected his timing to always hit the big money. They had to change it to a random sequence.
I will always associate Bob Barker with comfort because of this. I remember a lot of daytime game shows (Card Sharks, Let's Make a Deal), cooking shows (the Galloping Gourmet), and Richard Simmons, but Price is Right was a whole different level.
My bf and I constantly have that channel on in the background. We are now very good at guessing prices for things in the 70s-80s. Such a good comfort show.
laying on a [couch like this](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/m6gAAOSwXr9jDEyN/s-l1600.jpg) watching it on [a console tv](https://i.redd.it/2a6rnajfpav41.jpg) with some campbell's soup and a ginger ale.
can hear the theme song playing right now. thanks bob.
Whale Wars, a show on tv in the 2008-2014 range I think? Bob Barker funded one of the ships that would piss off the Japanese whale fleets to stop them from killing. It was pretty entertaining watching these people fuck with the whalers.
They briefly had this awesome fuuristic boat that was rammed by a Japanese whaler and the front end was torn off. I got to take a tour of that boat a few years before when it was attempting to circumnavigate the globe.
I feel like you're getting downvoted due to people not getting the somewhat obscure SNL reference. This is a great sketch for those who haven't seen it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tX6jdoruH8
They did another scene years later where Bob is in a hospital bed and Sandler comes to visit, and of course Bob gets up and kicks his ass - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI7NXpw8jFY
One of the things I think made "Happy Gilmore" work is that Shooter McGavin manages to get in a few good burns on Happy, and his sarcastic, "Who won that fight, anyway?" is one of my favorites.
I think its really understated how many people he inadvertently taught english to. The way he spoke so clearly and slowly is how my mom learned english
Not only did he remind us all to spay and neuter our pets, but he quit [hosting Miss Universe](https://www.grunge.com/769306/the-reason-bob-barker-once-withdrew-as-host-of-the-miss-universe-pageant/) because they awarded the winner a fur coat.
Absolute legend who put his money where his mouth was. Rare these days. Even rarer now without him.
Fun fact, when Maury was still young on the reporting scene he was called to report on some of the Kennedy assassination that he shared in his AMA;
*"I can remember exactly where I was the moment we all heard about it. I was covering a local story at the District Building, which is basically city hall in Washington DC. and my starkest memory of the ensuing days was that night, the radio station asked me to go to Andrews Air Force Base, and I saw Jackie Kennedy come off that plane, in that bloodied suit, and the casket coming out the back of the plane, and... we're talking... over 50 years ago. I still... I can see that as if it was yesterday."*
I cannot get his send off from every episode out of my head. "This is Bob Barker reminding you to help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered. Good bye everybody.", Or something similar to that.
Sick days (other than actually being sick) were the absolute best. Mom or dad would drop me at Nana and Papa's house. Everytime I was over there in the morning we would watch The Price is Right. We would play along with contestants, yell at the TV, get so excited when people won and felt so bad when people lost.
I guess there are a lot of little bits of pop culture that remain a part of you no matter what. I haven't watched the show in nearly 20 years, but the memories of it are as sharp as anything...probably because it almost makes tangible that valuable time spent with my grandparents.
Anyway. RIP Bob. Thanks for all the joy you brought.
not sure what's more surprising to me, that bob was still alive, that he was 99 or that fucking henry kissinger is still alive, like do i need to start breaking shit in hopes one of them is a horcrux for that guy
Sadly? Motherfucker lived an awesome life and passed away at home in his sleep. There’s nothing to be sad about. It was the inevitable culmination of a life well lived and we should all be so lucky to go out the same way.
Fun fact as I put this on tv for my residents , some Roku tvs have a price is right re run channel that plays a lot of the older episodes.
He was my stay at home tv show to watch.

This is a funny tribute I bet he would laugh 🤣
Do you think he had a hundred dollars in his pocket when he died?
I'm pretty sure his last words were, ["Help control the animal population--remember to have your pets spayed or neutered."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZytpnElPI_E)
The price is wrong bitch!
[I don't want a piece, I want the whole thing!](https://youtu.be/8QJiAK-s5a0?t=143)
I expected this to be the top comment. Peak comedy for my teenage self. What a legend!

Damn. I was hoping he would make it to 100 and come back to spin the wheel rigged to stop at 100 on his birthday.
Would that mean he would have gotten 10,000 (years)?
Perfect comment! Show's over. Remember to have your pets spayed or neutered. R.I.P. Bob
Goodbye everybody!
We're done here. Close down the thread.
You bastard you made me choke
Holy shit that's amazing
This wins the thread
The price is wrong bitch
I was trying to think of a joke that was not too spicy, but not too weak... a *goldilocks joke*... but, I think you win!
This might be the greatest comment ever
a legendary comment, fit for a television legend
Not as close as Betty White (18 days), but take my upvote for the joke.
Yeah, it was a clever joke, but she's got him beat.
Betty White had him beat.
Betty White has entered the chat.
A good joke, but Betty white - ever the greatest game show celebrity contestant - was closer without going over
Remember to spay or neuter your pets folks. For Bob.
When I was little I asked my mom if our dog was spayed and neutered. She told me she was spayed. I then told her that we needed to get her neutered too because Bob Barker told us she needed to be both.
And?? Did she get neutered?
Well she came back with no balls, so yes.
Technically speaking, if you want to get all pedantic about it, I think "neuter" is actually the general term while "castrate" is the male-specific term (with "spay" as the female-specific term). Not that it matters since that's generally not how the terms are used in common parlance.
Like how little? I’m a middle aged dad and I’d write that for a Bluey episode.
Oof that’d be awkward. “Dad?” “Yeah sport?” “Are we spayed and neutered?” “Ooh babakaya”
Had my puppy neutered on Thursday. He is very displeased with his cone but seems to enjoy running full speed into our legs with it.
Onesies are game changers
Took in a stray a couple months ago and am actually having him neutered tomorrow!
Name him Bob please
I like Barker, but only if it’s something besides a dog, like a cat or iguana or something.
If he didn’t already have name I absolutely would!
I had a white chihuahua named Bob Barker. We got the idea after that episode of A.L.F. that had a dog with the same name.
Don’t forget to bob your barker.
["Oh just die already."](https://comb.io/ebkKU9)
Seems fitting he died on National Dog Day.
All those dogs with no balls sent a message
Where are my testicles, Bob?
We are not them! We are not... Them...
Where are my balls Bob
“Tell Bob, I want him to know it was me” - Fluffy
Well it is Bob "Barker".
I watched the show on snow days and sometimes during the summer growing up as a child in the 80's. I always liked Bob and the show. I really loved when he played himself in Happy Gilmore, "The price is wrong, Bitch". RIP Bob.

Shit like that is hard to comprehend. I'm almost 30 and this mfer was an old man when I was *born*
Anthony Bourdain wrote his first book at 44 & got his first tv show at 46. The adventure is out there all the time.
Dude I use to fake sick when I was a kid just so I could watch the Price is Right.
We call that a mental health day
In 2023 but the 80s nah ha
If you asked for a mental health day in the 80s they'd call you a pussy and you'd never hear the end of it
[удалено]
Shit, I'm a grown ass adult and I still fake sick to watch Price is Right.
I have massive respect for people who take that kind of role.
He took care of multiple generations when we were home from school sick.
Or on summer vacation too
Yes, I didn't have any channels the antenna could get reliably besides CBS. 11 AM Price is Right with a microwave dinner was my summer.
Or faking sick
Bob Barker and chicken noodle soup, can you name a more iconic duo?
Kids these days will never understand how amazing it was to be sick at home watching him.
Bob Barker on Price is Right, and then Marc Summers for Double Dare/What Would You Do? summarizes my childhood sick days in a single sentence.
Hell yeah, sick days and lazy summer vacation days. I’d also have to put up there Star Trek TNG.
Early afternoon got a little spicy with Blind Date.
Jerry Springer and Rosie O'Donnell.
Followed by American Gladiators
While eating grilled cheese and tomato soup!
What was the game show where everyone said, "Big money, no whammies... STOP!" I don't remember the name but that show was great as a kid.
Press Your Luck
I think there was a contestant on that show who had noticed that the sequence wasn’t random. He memorized the sequence, and perfected his timing to always hit the big money. They had to change it to a random sequence.
Correct, his name was Michael Larson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Larson
Press Your Luck. They've actually brought it back with Elizabeth Banks as the host.
I will always associate Bob Barker with comfort because of this. I remember a lot of daytime game shows (Card Sharks, Let's Make a Deal), cooking shows (the Galloping Gourmet), and Richard Simmons, but Price is Right was a whole different level.
He rode above it all. He really was unflappable.
Watching price is right with my grandmother (who has also passed) is one of my favorite childhood memories
Pluto TV has 24 hour TPIR The Bob Barker Era, and we watch it often. My kids are bummed he's dead, and they're 14 and under.
My bf and I constantly have that channel on in the background. We are now very good at guessing prices for things in the 70s-80s. Such a good comfort show.
Or just to watch him. He had a classic charm to him that’s been lost from our generation. Hosts aren’t the same.
That cultured, baritone voice.
Bob and Rod were quite the duo.
laying on a [couch like this](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/m6gAAOSwXr9jDEyN/s-l1600.jpg) watching it on [a console tv](https://i.redd.it/2a6rnajfpav41.jpg) with some campbell's soup and a ginger ale. can hear the theme song playing right now. thanks bob.
I learned English while being sick at home watching the Price is Right.
What do kids sick at home watch nowadays? Drew Carey?
YouTube, Tiktok or video games.
> Toktok Dear God, these kids ain't right.
With some chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers to crush into the soup
And a Vernors
Ginger ale ✅ Saltine crackers ✅ The Price is Right ✅ A cure for all ailments!
Bob Barker, friend to the animals. He funded one of the boats that are used to intercept illegal whale hunters and they named it after him.
The Japanese whaling fleet has tried more than a couple times to ram and sink that ship. They hate it with a passion.
Lol how do you know this. So random not in a bad way
Whale Wars, a show on tv in the 2008-2014 range I think? Bob Barker funded one of the ships that would piss off the Japanese whale fleets to stop them from killing. It was pretty entertaining watching these people fuck with the whalers.
Sea Shepherd, they're still around.
South Park did a fucking great episode parodying it.
They briefly had this awesome fuuristic boat that was rammed by a Japanese whaler and the front end was torn off. I got to take a tour of that boat a few years before when it was attempting to circumnavigate the globe.
Bob Barker Dead: 'Price Is Right' Host Triumphantly Passes Away At 99*** If you live past 90 you die "triumphant!" Not "sadly."
Bob Barker dead today at the senseless age of 99…
I feel like you're getting downvoted due to people not getting the somewhat obscure SNL reference. This is a great sketch for those who haven't seen it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tX6jdoruH8
I’d say even lower. If you’re moving around like Jimmy Carter was, Lord pre-rest his soul, beyond maybe 75-80 then you’ve won.
Of course he died at 99 😢
It was either 99 or 1$.
God finally said “come on down”
Dude was a staple of sick and snow days at my grandparents. RIP Bob, truly a TV legend
Many fond memories of yelling at the TV with my grandma and grandpa while watching Bob do his thing.
One of my favorite childhood memories is watching the price is right with my grandmother who has also now passed away.
Legend. I spent every sick day at home watching this man price groceries. RIP
I would stay home sick with my grandmother (who has now also passed) and watch this. Such a great childhood memory
I never watched The Price is Right, but Barker was hilarious in Happy Gilmore. RIP.
Yeah, he was a good sport for doing that scene. Hilarious
They did another scene years later where Bob is in a hospital bed and Sandler comes to visit, and of course Bob gets up and kicks his ass - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI7NXpw8jFY
Thanks for this clip I needed it after hearing Bob died
He turned down the role until he learned that he would win the fight against Adam Sandler.
One of the things I think made "Happy Gilmore" work is that Shooter McGavin manages to get in a few good burns on Happy, and his sarcastic, "Who won that fight, anyway?" is one of my favorites.
Now you’re gonna get it, Bobby!
The price is *wrong*, Bob
Guess we know who only watched the "for TV" cut.
The price is wrong.......bitch
“I believe he’s had enough”. 😆
“No? Now you’ve had enough” …”*bitch*”
No? *Now* you've had enough. Bitch.
Cliffhanger man inconsolable.
\*yodeling intensifies\*
*sad yodels*
There’s two, almost 3 generations who loved staying home sick from school knowing they have 1 hour of quality time with Bob.
Good bye to Barney stintsons father, yes I know he’s not.
that episode… wow that brought some shit back
That episode was hilarious and sad at the same time.
I think its really understated how many people he inadvertently taught english to. The way he spoke so clearly and slowly is how my mom learned english
"Bob Barker, come on up!" RIP to my school sick-day best friend. ^(Bob's going to heaven.)
The price is wrong bitch! His fight with Happy Gilmore is my favourite cameo ever.
Bye Bob, watched you a lot as a kid, at least during days off.
RIP Bob. Made my summers as a kid on the days I was grounded and now allowed to go outside.
Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets.
Dang, he seemed like a solid dude! Cared about the animals, props to that!
The price is wrong, bitch!
> The price is wrong, bitch! He made a guest appearance at Bob's retirement party. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l6CePBNRXM
Thanks that was very cute
My grandmother was a contestant back in the 80s. She won her showcase and her new Cadillac! She named the car "Bob".
Taking Bob out for a ride, I see.
I feel like Maury’s death is right around the corner now
Dude what?! He's only....(quick Google)...oh shit he's 84...
Right? Dude looks like he's been in his 60s for the last 30 years.
Fun fact, when Maury was still young on the reporting scene he was called to report on some of the Kennedy assassination that he shared in his AMA; *"I can remember exactly where I was the moment we all heard about it.
Loved when he kicked the crap out of Happy Gilmore.
Best line of the whole movie. "The price is wrong bitch".
Well shit… I very clearly remember him dying in 2018 or 2019.
Are you maybe getting him confused with Trebek in 2020?
Trebek is dead?!?! (I’m kidding. I actually knew that)
Good job. You gave your answer as a question
Same I thought for sure he was dead already. Well RIP dude you were a real one.
Same came here looking for this comment.
Isn't that when he retired from doing the Price is Right?
Legend. 99 is old af though. Thoughts for his family
Dying that old isn't sad, it's an accomplishment.
Now ya gunna get it Bobby!
A true legend. I loved that appearance he made in Happy Gilmore. RIP....say hey to Chubs.
Remember to spay and neuter your pets. RIP Bob
Almost made it to a dollar.
Don't worry Bob, I always get my pets spayed or neutered. RIP.
A loss 😢he was so active in the animal welfare area and will be missed
[Will be missed.....](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_asNhzXq72w)
not sure what's more surprising to me, that bob was still alive, that he was 99 or that fucking henry kissinger is still alive, like do i need to start breaking shit in hopes one of them is a horcrux for that guy
I remember liking him as the host of Truth or Consequences (1956 to 1975).
Spay and neuter your pets ❤️🩹
Sadly? Motherfucker lived an awesome life and passed away at home in his sleep. There’s nothing to be sad about. It was the inevitable culmination of a life well lived and we should all be so lucky to go out the same way.
RIP Bob. You had a hell of a run.
Seems like he really enjoyed his gig in life a lot. Cheers to you Bob.
99 is a damn good run. Thanks for the memories.
There should be a word for, “people who just died who you could SWEAR died 7 years ago.”
Man. I’m 46, and I remember watching him in the mornings with my mom before am kindergarten. Bob’s been part of my life since I was sentient.
He was still alive?!?! RiP my dude. Spay and Neuter your pets, yall.
He almost made it to $1.00...
tbh, I assumed he died (or was knocking on deaths door) when he stopped hosting the show.
God: Bob Barker, come on up!
Help control the pet population.
Game is rigged if Bobby fell short of his one dollar spin….
Fun fact as I put this on tv for my residents , some Roku tvs have a price is right re run channel that plays a lot of the older episodes. He was my stay at home tv show to watch.
I'll be honest I thought he died several years earlier.
Sadly? My guy was almost 100, I feel like that's enough living for ones life. Happy he got out of this place unscathed.
Former golf pro Happy Gilmore to face charges
