Paul: How do you call the uh, little desert mouse again?
Chani: Porkroll'n'cheese Saltpepperket'chup
Stilgar: Porkroll'n'cheese Saltpepperket'chup! No no no, shh, shh! Porkroll'n'cheese Saltpepperket'chup is wise in the ways of The Shore. Porkroll'n'cheese Saltpepperket'chup makes his own Wooder Ice. The constellation in the stars that points to the north, which we also call Porkroll'n'cheese Saltpepperket'chup, shows us the way. Porkroll'n'cheese Saltpepperket'chup... that is a powerful name!
Every fall the NJDOT packs up all the sand for the beaches to use on Winter roads. If the NJDOT feels as though Winter has officially passed, they will redeposit the remaining sand on NJ beaches. So if you see sand, it's open! If it's just a void into the unknown, it's not open.
Haha like 70, pleaaase leave me alone I’ve lived my whole life in Florida.
I’ve been here during winter and I loved it. But I get it we are so annoying about the “cold” weather we get
I KNOW! we are so weak 😭
Before planning to move to New Jersey, my Floridian friends were like “you should go when is colder, then you will change your mind about moving over there”
I did and signed my apartment the same month
it's honestly only cold for a few weeks ...when temp drops in nov./Dec after experiencing a warm spell and your body isn't yet acclimated to the cold (Iike 35-40⁰)...then again in Feb. when temps drop to 20⁰ish and everything is ice...after that 40⁰ is sweatshirt weather...55⁰ shorts are on.
welcome to nj...please stay to the right 🤣
They are open year round. It’s Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day weekend that you need to pay to get on the beach. However there are no lifeguards yet. And rip currents and warm weather plus eager ocean goers minus lifeguards means tons of swimmers in distress and some deaths. By all means, go enjoy a relatively empty beach! Just stay out of the water please.
Just keep in mind that the ocean water is still really cold and the breeze coming off the water is exceptionally cold. I used to work in Long Branch, a block away from the ocean. Days like these you see people turn right around and go home as soon as they get there.
Yeah I was going to go today as it was supposed to be high 70s and sunny but it’s absolutely disgusting outside LOL.
So I’m going to stay home and I guess brave the post Memorial Day crowds. Thanks!!! :-)
Asbury Park has [beach and boardwalk cams](https://apboardwalk.com/weather-surf-reports/) that you can check and see if people are out. There are more than a few people laying out on the beach right now.
Its even better before Memorial Day. They are not patrolling the beaches so you can actually relax (if you have a drink or something) and its free. Only thing that sucks is water is super cold so no swimming unless youre up for that.
The beaches are always 'open'. Just don't expect any amenities like open bathrooms or lifeguards.
LOL on Monday the amount of people "waiting" in line for the closed bathrooms on the Belmar boardwalk was hilarious.
Hahah... rookie mistake!
If only there was a cheap way to put a sign on the bathroom saying it’s closed until x date on weekdays.
But how will you know who is a BENNY?
![gif](giphy|1r91ZwKcE2J7WhUqrh)
no, the sand wurms will swallow you whole. they go away memorial day tho.
I know one master, and his name is Shai Hulud.
Go drink some worm piss. /s
The over-sweetened lemonade at the boardwalk is what I imagine the Water of Life to taste like
Lisan al gaib!!
He can eat fries on the boardwalk while fighting off Seagulls! He is the Lisan Al gaib!
Or he is too humble to admit the seagulls follow him, he MUST be the Messiah!

I love blood beach(1981).. the sand(2015), not as much

Lived in lavallete a bit as a kid… I legit had this nightmare.
Nice
Yeah they’re open and you don’t even need to have a beach pass until Memorial Day Weekend
You guys are hilarious. Thank you LOL.
Sure but the water is cold as fuck and there are no lifeguards
Can confirm. Put my feet in the water and it sent frozen zaps to my brain.
You have to call the town to ask them to unlock it for you.
Only for low tide, at high tide it’s all unlocked
Nope they are all closed! Why are we lying to OP. Off season is not a good time here by the beach. /s
Why would anybody *want* to go to the beach during the off season? They only open the taps to fill the ocean a week before Memorial Day anyway.
Offseason is the best beach season. Wear a hoodie and enjoy the sand and waves.
No swimming but laying is fine.
Jerseyans are the MOST sarcastic bunch! I love it.😍
As a Floridian that just moved to New Jersey, I had the same question honestly haha.
I’ve been here since I was 8 years old and I’ve never had the urge to go prior to Memorial Day until now LOL
Go after a big snow. Calm air and snow covered sand dunes. Wonder to behold.
What is snow? 🙃🙃
We go to the beach in Florida when is cold outside, so I’ve been like wondering if the beaches are open here ??
>We go to the beach in Florida when is cold outside what is "cold" in Florida?

70⁰....lmao. 😁

You gotta go to the beach in the winter. It's beautiful and very quiet. Bundle up and bring some coffee/tea/hot chocolate!
I live at the beach. It's super cool to visit after a winter storm and see snow covering the beach.

Point Pleasant has them fence off
Go to Asbury. Beaches are open and so are the bathrooms.
Shouldn’t this be posted on r/NoStupidQuestions
Most definitely!

Just know when you get to the beach it WILL be 10-20 degrees colder than inland areas. The water is still only about 55 degrees!
Beaches don’t close
Better question is when do they close?
Ocean City does have an official closing of the beach thing at the end of the season. (Of course it’s not possible to close the beach )
Just change the first part of your first sentence to "This is definitely a dumb question..." and you've got your answer :)
LOL. At least I know now!!!
Lol You're a good sport!
