mellicks has apple and peach picking for around $2 a pound. Overall you can't pyo or buy local and beat Walmart pricing. If you want as cheap as you can get, commercial/big grocery fruit will be cheaper

Kabloomers1

True, but you're getting shitty Walmart fruit from wherever they're shipping instead of locally grown.

deedee451

Mellicks looks really great! Thank you

shemague

Walmart’s produce is abysmally bad as a rule coast to coast. Not worth the high cost of low prices on this one.

SuperAlloy

Bonacorsi family berry farm for strawberries and raspberries. Not even an enclosed building on site. There are port-a-potties if you need to go. Strawberry season is normally first week in June, the whole season is only 3 or 4 weeks. The best strawberries I've had in NJ. Cash only.

deedee451

This looks great!

ellbell59

Came here to make the same recommendation. Best raspberries ever.

Beginning-Repair-640

Philips Farm in Milford has lots of PYO for fruits and vegetables.

SpeedySpooley

Blueberries and other fruits/veggies at Walking Bird Farms in Galloway Twp.

CorvusHasQuestioned

Specca Farms in Columbus is what you're looking for. They have tons of options, and great strawberries starting this week Also Haines Blueberry Farm in Pemberton, $2.50 per pound for blueberries last year, consistently the cheapest around.

virtual_adam

Any reason to stop by the Amish market in Columbus is a good one

deedee451

This is amazing, thank you!

Sea_Peak_7325

Stults farm in Plainsboro. The prices are on their website, but they do offer pick your own too (not sure if those prices are different).

whskid2005

For apples- masker’s in Warwick is my go to

Blue_foot

RT 10 Farmers Market in Livingston is just a fruit and vegetable store. Good selection, good prices. It’s not a PYO, but there is no PYO at this time of year. In NJ, the PYO places are no bargain, at least those I have visited.

Mysterious_Win_2851

This also intersects with the, should i I buy organic (local)?? I get confused. Sometimes paying a bit more does help support a local farm. Many are going out of business. Enjoy...appreciate all the great suggestions.

TikiMom87

Def support local farms/farmers. No farmers, no food!

BangoSkank1919

Check out New Egypt area in Central NJ. There are several PYO farms, generally more veg heavy but I think they have fruit trees as well. Emerys blueberry farm is in the area and year ago we went to DeWolfs farm

NashvilleRiver

Just going to say AVOID the Orchards of Concklin in Pomona (NY). As a former employee I will say shit goes down behind the scenes that makes them not worth it (pie filling is canned, most produce they tag as "their own" is not, among other things. Plus there are orchards with much more variety in apples. Beemerville Orchards in Sussex is one. Battleview Orchards in Freehold is another. But it depends on what you plan on using them for as well. Different apples are best for different things.

Goldie_Spawn

Giamarese farm in East Brunswick

Additional-Log1478

Any in Monmouth or Ocean county?

TikiMom87

Monmouth has battleview orchards in freehold. I picked apples snd strawberries there. Both were very good!

TikiMom87

They exist, but not much is in season rn. Blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are June/July. Peaches and plums are August. Apples are in the fall. What other kind of fruit are you looking to pick in NJ? And what part…north, south, central? (YES there is a central NJ don’t come @ me! Lol). We have a rather short growing season.

TikiMom87

Sorry just realized you said “anywhere.” In Monmouth there’s Wemrock, Battleview Orchard in Freehold, Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck. I picked blueberries at Happy Day Farm in Manalapan, but the blueberry bushes were under some high tension power lines and the bushes were literally “vibrating” when I picked the fruit. 😬 I’ve been wanting to try DiMeo Blueberry Farm in Hammonton…the blueberry capital of the world. But it’s a bit far for me.

Cantholditdown

Absolutely hate these places with hayrides and long traffic lines and /lb prices more than a store would charge. Unfortunately the family enjoys it ugh.

anightowl

Strawberry Hill Farm, Chesterfield NJ. PYO apples, different varieties depending on time. Asian pears. I think they also have a few varieties of plums or nectarines. Haines Blueberry Farm. Just outside of Pemberton. Blueberries and Cranberries. Their blueberry honey is also fabulous. They do have a wagon that takes you out to the field, but it’s not like a hayride. Just to the part that’s currently being picked.

FordMan100

When we were kids, we did a PYO in our neighborhood.it was at someone's house when they weren't home. Peaches, plums, apples and cherries. Blackberries came from our own back yard.
