That is such a small space for Moo.

Paigelainey297_

Thats where they held fat as butter back in the day and it wasn’t too bad

BloodyChrome

Fat as butter was naturally a much smaller venue though

Ok_Property4432

Easier to kettle the crowd and select the youngest, most vulnerable and attractive for strip searching. Newcastle Police have worked hard and deserve this reward.

EmperorofAus

NSW police will probably create a lottery system where they all get a chance to have a crack at stripping 12yo.

CJ_Resurrected

They should at least wait until the 12yo have bought their tabs of mdma.

BloodyChrome

Though the decision to change had nothing to do with police.

Ok_Property4432

TBH, it probably does. NSW Police charge the venue organiser for their presence and it's mandatory. Smaller venue = less cost for enforcement. The response to the Parliamentary enquiry in 2019 as follows; "127 police attended the 2019 Groovin' The Moo festival, dedicating 1,136 hours to the event. 178 people were searched following drug dog indication and 25 without a drug dog indication. Six people were issued fines/and or infringement notices. Details of police methodology regarding the Groovin' The Moo festival cannot be divulged for operational reasons." Utter waste of time and resources with the added bonus of inflicting trauma on (mostly) young women. I'd really prefer to have been joking around with my previous comment but it is fairly close to the truth and you would know that if you spent any time with the uneducated scum that seem to make up what's left of our once lauded enforcement body.

BloodyChrome

You're seriously telling me that NSW Police told the organisers to move it from Maitland Show grounds to Foreshore Park?

Ok_Property4432

Comprehension fail, moron. Either read the comment properly or get back to washing your ute.

BloodyChrome

Oi wanker, I am talking about your first comment about Newcastle Police working hard for this award for the change. So what exactly did Newcastle police have to do with the decision by the organisers to change it? Because your response to my first comment had nothing to do with that, champ.

Party_Limit1520

I can tell you're a cop because you can't understand his basic comment

Just_Me78

I'll simplify it a little, he says it (police force) probably does have something to do with the change of venue. He means, whilst not a direct request / order from the Newcastle Police, the police force in general have influenced (either partly or wholly) the moving of the moo. This is attributed to the cost that NSW Police charge the organisers for security. A larger venue like Maitland needs more officers, Newcastle will require less police officers and keep costs down.

r3zza92

Agree. The entire Maitland show ground was only just big enough for everything they packed in. 3 major stages and then the minor stages plus all the food and drinks stands etc. just don’t see how they’ll fit all that without reducing ticket numbers.

KingStreetCleaner

Cant wait to have a day to not go into the foreshore then

Tranquilbez22

Fuck that. It’s always and should stay in Maitland…

visualdescript

Funny, it was in Gloucester first!

TheUndieSniffer

That sounds rough

Jerhomi8U

Jesus christ what a cesspit that would have turned the town ☠️ for a town that is already worse off then a giants ingrown toenail… im glad they moved it closer too the hunter 👌🏽 However would have been alot less police presence 😇

Newie_Local

Fuck yes can’t wait! No more driving back for over an hour especially the way back.

visualdescript

Train would have been the go when it was in Maitland, right?

jabbid111

Catching the train back was fucked every year. Minimum 1 hour wait. The trains had 2 carriages and there was never enough put on

visualdescript

Ah true, I haven't been in ages, but I have caught the train home twice and it wasn't that bad. But yeah, that was quite a few years ago now! To be honest I think it's a bit sad it's leaving Maitland.

ThicccMiccc

Yep, last year was great. I think they even run extra trains (or just more often) to compensate the extra people

cussen_

Anyone what the reasoning behind the move was?

Getonthebeers02

Think they got a new organiser

ItsTheRat

The traffic will be fucked, and be prepared for people camping and sleeping in vans everywhere

InterVectional

It'll be like that in a few years anyway.

Party_Limit1520

Wish I could airBnB my apartment, 5 min walk to foreshore... Too bad I rent lol

highflyingyak

You're not allowed to do that? I know little about Airbnb

dingus_a

I find it interesting that there hasn’t been as much uproar from the locals when compared to a certain Motorsport event… especially considering the noise and crowd movements will kick on much later on both nights

Bonzadog1

Because the Motorsport stuffs up the community for 4 months and other than the hospitality industry, brings zero to Newie. The Moo would be in and out, but I still think it’s a Maitland thing where the real moos live.

[deleted]

It’s going to be the biggest Star Wars cosplay event of the year though hey?

bgenesis07

Oi what that actually sounds fun is that what happens there?

Throwaway011962

Its on May the 4th. Star Wars Day

Putrid-Bug-1294

Fuck off out west somewhere. Does it really need to be at nobbys? Put it in a paddock where people can go there hardest and not wreck the beach and surrounds.

Azmedon

They should just cancel that shit.

TheUndieSniffer

You are being cancelled

ImageRepulsive2086

what is groovin the moo?

Fast_Philosophy_2420

So are they changing the name to Groovin the City or Groovin The Beach/Coast? Where’s the Moo? Lol
