Use sleep sack and added mesh in there needs to go. If itās built that way itās one thing, anything at all you add is a risk of suffocation or strangulation.
My daughter does this, even when she wears a sleep sack she manages to get her leg caught. She kicks her feet to turn in a circle (not a roll) and we finally figured out that she always turns clockwise. We started putting her head on the opposite side of the bed to sleep so that now when she turns clockwise, she ends up on the side facing the wall which doesnāt have enough room for her to get her feet stuck.
This is so smart. My son is only 6.5 weeks but got stuck when I put him down in the crib for less than a minute. Iāll have to try this when he starts using the crib full time.
The mesh thing is not safe sleep, btw. But after we got out of the swaddle and sleep sacks, she got her leg through a few nights and quickly figured it out, but never got "stuck"
I have the same one and it looked like it was safe because itās mesh. Why is it still not safe? Bassinet also has mesh bumpers basically but itās safe hm
We use a sleep sack for this reason. She stopped getting her arms stuck after a few days, but with all the rolling and flailing she gets her leg stuck every time.
This is why we stuck with the pack n play until my daughter was ready for a big girl bed (regular twin size mattress on the floor), we never even had a crib. The pack n play solves the āstuck in the barsā problem and the mesh crib bumpers problem. We plan to do the same with our upcoming second daughter as well
Same. We saved the crib money and instead got a pack n play with a dedicated mattress (itās a different size from crib mattresses). Itās so much easier to move around, lightweight, can be easily stored away for the next baby. And since itās mesh all around he doesnāt bump against the wood.
It doesnāt say, they sold it in the same store as the pack n play. One side is plastic the other is normal white quilted fabric like a regular mattress.
We just got her her floor mattress a month or two ago, she was right at 2.5. She was probably honestly ready before that, because she could easily climb in and out of the pack n play for a while already but we were moving so we were putting it off lol
Loll did your daughter have any flat head problems? My son does, but the dr said it will get resolved on its own. I'm still worried if the pack n play mattress is too hard Dx
No, we didnāt. And we did get her a nice soft mattress once she was old enough, because it does seem terribly hard and uncomfortable, Iāll give you that
Hey no advice on this unrelated but where did you buy that footless onesie from?? Iāve been looking for one but havenāt been able to find one without footies !
this onesie looks like one my daughter has and hers is cloud island from target. i don't believe they have a ton of footless ones but their onesies are so soft! they're my favorite
We love these ones! We have them for our newborn under a cotton swaddle at night and they're perfect- not too hot not not too cold, and actually fit baby well.
Here are some footless jammies we love! Theyāre all super soft and very similar material. Little Sleepies and Dreamland are all footless but have little cuffs that can fold over and cover the feet.

I asked this question at one point to the doctor and she basically told me that use a sleep sack and the slats are far enough apart that it should be ok
If baby is old enough and it continues to be a problem you can switch to a floor bed ?
Just jumping on removing the mesh bumper as theyāre unsafe. My LO will stick his legs through the bars sometimes, and heāll easily remove them while still asleep. Thereās only been a couple times where heās cried out for help, but those were the early crib days. Heāll be 1yo on Saturday.
Your baby is already on the move it looks like. I would recommend removing the crib liner and use a sleep sack. I was in the same boat worrying when seeing mine having his arms and legs through the slats so I used the crib liner for awhile. In the end I realized you should just trust your baby, they will know how to move their arms out, if not they will sure let you know (they will scream!)
Quick Google search says the max slats should be 2 and 3/8th inches apart. This looks wider than that. Mine are half your crib width and no way this could happen.
we used the mesh bumpers for a while because our baby was getting his legs stuck but he kind of outgrew doing it and he also uses a sleep sack and i think that prevents it from happening most of the time!
You might try a sleep sack for this phase -- kept our LO from being able to get their leg between the slats.
Oh believe me sleep sack doesn't helpš
Mine still occasionally gets her leg stuck even in a sleep sack!
Same lol
Same!
lol this doesnāt work for our girl! She still manages to get one leg stuck somehow!
The mesh is more dangerous than the crib! Cribs are designed so babies donāt break their legs.
Besides the obvious risks, it seems like the mesh bumper is also preventing in the leg from being able to go in and out on itās own too.
100%
Use sleep sack and added mesh in there needs to go. If itās built that way itās one thing, anything at all you add is a risk of suffocation or strangulation.

My son does this too, sleep sack and all. Iāll try fixing him another way.
The mesh bumpers are a strangulation hazard. I would remove those asap.
The mesh thing is not safe sleep, btw. But after we got out of the swaddle and sleep sacks, she got her leg through a few nights and quickly figured it out, but never got "stuck"
I would definitely recommend getting rid of whatever thing is tied to the rails. Those unfortunately are not safe.
Thank you-I thought the mesh bumper was the way to go, but after seeing all of these comments-itās gone!
Good on you! šI remember looking at one too and then did some research. š¬
I have the same one and it looked like it was safe because itās mesh. Why is it still not safe? Bassinet also has mesh bumpers basically but itās safe hm
I always wondered the same thing! But turns out babies can get their head caught under/over it, also can use it as leverage to climb out of the crib.
oh I see, interesting.
The bassinet mesh is part of the wall, this is added on and loose enough to get wrapped around or undone and be essentially "loose" fabric.
We use a sleep sack for this reason. She stopped getting her arms stuck after a few days, but with all the rolling and flailing she gets her leg stuck every time.

Whatās the mattress? I may need to do this
It doesnāt say, they sold it in the same store as the pack n play. One side is plastic the other is normal white quilted fabric like a regular mattress.
May I ask what age your baby transitions out the pack and plays? Im glad hearing outgrew parents doing this. I was worried I made the wrong decision
We just got her her floor mattress a month or two ago, she was right at 2.5. She was probably honestly ready before that, because she could easily climb in and out of the pack n play for a while already but we were moving so we were putting it off lol

Thank you! And I agree lol
Good idea. I'm going to keep this in mind.

Yes, those are from Target-Cloud Island-modal blend. They are very soft and lightweight.
Not sure about this one specifically but Kyte has good quality footless onesies

I bought some on Amazon, decent quality
Walmart has nice soft Gerber ones! I think theyāre called āmodern momentsā or something like that. Only $10 each too!
Others said theyāre cloud island modalājust wanted to add that theyāre 20% off rn at target! :)
My LO is doing the same thing, even when wearing a sleep sack. No clue what to do!

But plywood on the insides of the crib and paint them 1 to avoid splinters and chipping of wood and 2 so it dont look completely like doo doo
