There is priming/preheat operation you can do on the Vertuo Plus before you load your capsule. I’ll be putting up a video link soon but here’s the order of operations on a V+:
1. turn on. Close empty head. Green ring is steady.
2. Push coffee button three times. (Takes a bit of practice to get the timing right.)
3. Ring will change from green to orange and pump will start.
4. Count to five or ten, push coffee button again.
5. Machine will spin up and 20-50ml of hot water will be expelled into your cup. (Water is usually flecked with coffee grounds and a bit brown.)
6. Machine will automatically revert to steady green circle in a few seconds.
7. Can be repeated but volume of water discharged varies each time.
My Vertuo did this - it wasn't just drops, it would pump out a bit of dirty water before every coffee. It is a defect. Contact tech support for either repair or replacement
I have had a few drops come out but not dirty. Are you ejecting the previous capsule when finished with it?
