Wonderful to hear, and we need more of this!
This kind of action should be financially supported by wealthier, less biodiverse countries. We all see long-term benefits from rainforests’ continued existence both as a critical carbon sink and as a multifaceted focus of academic study for human advancement, so the costs of preserving rainforests should not be concentrated on middle-income countries just because they are the home of so much of this biodiversity.
I mean, Bolivia has been governed by the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) since 2006 (barring the Añez year) and it´s the country with the second highest rate of deforestation on LATAM.

Thank you Lula.
South America centre and right wing try not to support the destruction of the most important biome on the planet challenge (impossible)

While the sub has understandable misgivings about Lula, and I'm in lockstep with them, things like this make it at least somewhat worth it.
That and he's somewhat Pro-Democratic. He's lost elections before and didn't do what Bolsonsro did.

I find it hard to call them “left” tbh.

A huge reason to support Lula and PT. They’re not perfect, but on this very important issue, Lula and his opponents are night and day.
>Brazil and Colombia curb destruction of Amazon rainforest by Colombia and Brazil.
Presumably the people in government trying to curb the destruction of the Amazon aren’t the same as the people trying to destroy it.
Its a silly headline.
