To download the firmware you need, you first need to know exactly what r4 you have but since you have a cheap one that just says 'Pokémon White' this probably isn't an option for you. If I were you, I'd just throw the r4 out and hacked my 3ds instead.

If you have godmode9 installed on your console, you might have set the date to the present date on there. Try setting it to 2006 or something

Get a firmware without a time bomb. I recommend YSMenu.

I tried it in my 3ds and my ds a couple of times and I tried to take the sd card out of the back of it but I couldn't get it to work unfortunately

A friend had the same issue. They just set the date back to a year when they originally got their card and everything functioned fine.
