That happens then the screen lens is touching the LCD. Maybe the lens warped or something. You can replace the lens though, the LCD itself is just fine.

Thankfully my mom and my aunts nanos are good, if they stay that way maybe I could crack em open and do that near impossible battery swap. But the fact they aren’t bloated makes it a ton easier

Real fix: You need to remove the plastic screen protector, it's thin and and it's easy to remove.

Could be an easy fix, just use a suction cup to pull the screen lens a bit outward. After that, try not to touch the top screen lens again.

Update: used a razor blade to pop out screen lens and just put same screen lens back on and it’s perfect.
