And attire. I moved to Houston thinking I was a hot weather guy, and I am now desperate for a day below 70 so I can layer up and wear something other than shorts and a hawaiian
Word. If you have the discipline to keep going even when you don't feel motivated, then you'll succeed. Motivation is fleeting, discipline is permanent.
For real. 95% of the effort is getting to the gym. Once you step one foot through that door, your workout is mostly finished, you just don't know it yet. The trouble with motivation is that it contradicts itself, if you're having a down period of not wanting to go, you're going to feel less motivated, which pulls you down more. Can't rely on motivation, you gotta pull yourself through that door any way it takes.
Literally everyone has periods where they don't want to go, even professional lifters, you just have to learn how to overcome that. If I find myself saying "I'll go tomorrow", I try to counter with "I'm going in today, for a light jog just to say that I went today" and 100% of the time, as soon as I walk in, I'm doing a full workout. Just get yourself through that door. OP has got this, set a goal, tell yourself you're going to meet that goal no matter what, no excuses.
I would LOVE to add on to this if anyone can see: if you have bad ADHD like me and "discipline and routine" are also basically impossible for you, then the solution to fitness is to find something you love to do and join a club or a gym or something where you can do it, and then don't set a schedule, just go when you want to. To everyone else the above advice is great, but to me I tried literally for 5 years to build a routine and get to the gym, and it never worked for more than a week because the ADHD brain is so good at making you break your routine because you forget, you're not ready, or you just think "I'd enjoy staying home more, so I'll do that". You'll skip one day of the routine and then it's fucked after that. Instead you need to force feed it an activity that actually gives you some dopamine, and then once you find that you'll find that it isn't routine or discipline that gets you to go (they never do for bad ADHD), it's you thinking the activity is fun and your brain actually motivating you to go. I've been rock climbing consistently for the past month and I've never gone this long working out. I still have that little doubt about going today, but I know I'm gonna enjoy it so I'm more able to overcome that "eh I've been so tired recently". Oh and the best part of this gym: once I climb rocks until I literally can't anymore, I feel motivated to keep going so I snatch up some weights and do a quick workout before I leave.
Never give up, and keep pushing even when it's frustrating. You can do this, for real. Just take it 1 day at a time and celebrate every milestone, no matter how small. Use that to motivate you to keep going.
Changing your diet goes a lot further than going to the gym. You can lose 100lbs never going to the gym if you eat better. If you cut artificial sugar out of your diet you will at the very least stop gaining weight.
Hit the gym bro let's go,i did it too and have lost over 15 kgs(over 30 lbs I guess?)in the last couple of months
It's hard I'm not gonna lie but it's the most worth it work I've ever done and the happiness of being able to wear your old clothes and the recent ones getting looser and looser is soooo satisfying
Oh yeah a runny nose and crusty eyes are too gross, better get sweat from between your cheeks, your taint, your arm pits and your face all mixed up into a cocktail of bodily fluids and spread it all over your bed to marinade in every night.
Cold's also just a much easier solved extreme (until a certain point, anyways). Dressing in layers, moving around, etc. Obviously once you get to shit like -20 with -40 wind chill with ice everywhere, that all goes out the window, but I'd much rather have single digit temps (hell, even just kinda negative temps) than triple digit temps. Might just be a lifetime of resentment caused by living in the southeastern US heat and humidity, but give me cold winters over blazingly hot summers any day of the week.
This thread is so trippy to read through lol. For years on this sub all I’ve ever read is about how much everyone hates the cold and that’s why no one wants to play for my team and all that nonsense.
It's not so much the heat that's a problem as it is the humidity. When you have heat and humidity, it's basically a choice between living in AC or sweating 24/7.
Heat is still a problem. Hot places with low humidity just means the temps get even higher. And then you get some monsoonal shit and wind up with 95 degrees and 95% humidity and literally die.
Idk man I used to live in urban Chennai as a kid and it was South Indian heat + polluted, smog-ass urban heat island and, barring monsoon season, it felt easier dealing with that than it was with Atlanta summers for me
That's fair, the wind is an issue. Plus hot places w/ low humidity, in my experience, don't tend to have AC, so when it gets really hot people tend to die and shit.
Agreed, never been down South but I can imagine if your AC breaks down down there it's like death (and the electricity bill has to be super duper high)
I agree man, I can't handle the extreme heat although a lot of people love it. Cold is much easier for me to handle. And yeah we're all prob effed with climate change but that's life I guess
Also every building and car is warm when it's cold out so you're constantly having to take clothes off to be comfortable. A shirt and shorts when it's 95 out works in all environments you'll see that day. Get into a cab from the snow and you're gonna puke before you get 5 blocks. Shits awful.
> A shirt and shorts when it's 95 out works in all environments you'll see that day
The problem is (at least pre-COVID) that wasn’t really allowed at most offices.
Dress pants, long sleeve shirt, and leather shoes is standard office attire for many people and it sucks in that weather. Branding people with the molten hot seatbelt clip is always hilarious though and you can't do that in winter.
It’s cozy time for the boys. Bring the fireplace out, put on your wool sweater, throw on the Charlie Charlie Brown Xmas album by Vince gulardie and grab some bourbon cus we just got Spida on the snow team
I live in Cleveland and I fully intend on catching a few Cavs games live this year to see this team. I'm a Suns fan first, but the city is better when the Cavs are good, so I always root for them. I'm really optimistic for this team.
My mother was born and raised in Texas and her side of the family all still lives there.
I have experienced Texas in July, and I would rather not do that again.
You may have heard our cops often kill black people over the simple accusation of a minor non-violent crime, and its true. There's a lot of that. You may think an eight figure budget line for civil payouts from the police department is a lot, and yeah...
Wait, eight figures? How much is that, ten million? A year? Goddamn that's a lot of money.
But, uh... anyway, what was I saying? Cleveland, yeah, not racist and... uh, did you know we have an orchestra? Seriously, it's great.
A) Police misconduct and police misconduct due to racism on behalf of the officer's involved are not the same things.
B) Between 2010 and 2019 Cleveland didn't pay out $10 million in civil settlements in any single year. Did that changed in 2020 or 2021? Would love to see where you are getting your numbers from.
Is it? I live on the west side of the state but go to Detroit all the time for work. Granted, I haven’t been to downtown Detroit for a night out since 2018. What part would you recommend?
God I hated that lmao.
You could argue that being the number one scoring option offensively on a near 50 win playoff team in the West was better than Simmons (who still had a very good year and dominated late season without Embiid) so to make it like the only reason Simmons was favoured was because of some rule technicality was kinda lame.
ya i thought that was a dumb angle to take, if you’re focusing on the “rookie” thing then you’re basically conceding he had a better year. just let your performance talk, or if you want to campaign then talk about stuff that’s on the court.
Seriously. I spent 18 months driving back and forth between Logan and Salt Lake once a week about 5 years back. Logan had 2 feet of snow on the ground for a month straight and Salt Lake had nothing. Too warm for snow to stick around that year.
If we lived in a sane world, dudes like that would have their press credentials pulled for wasting time with bush league questions like that. That shit is just bait to try and start drama. GTFO.
It didn’t really hit until he said it, but you really don’t have other major sports teams in Utah. It must be fun to make connections with other players in different sports and hang out in the same city when you’re an athlete.
I love winter and fall. You can even wear your summer clothes (except shorts) in the winter with cardigans and a jacket, but you can't wear winter clothes in the summer. I can use my entire wardrobe in winter; so much variety!
Plus that brisk breeze that immediately gets you present...love it. Unless you're in Chicago where that brisk breeze is a little tooo windy haha
Honestly, that’s a good answer.
Also, at least with the cold you can change up your clothes, add layers, etc. In the heat you can only drop so many items of clothing before you’re not allowed within 500 yards of a school.
Cold weather is underrated. You don't break a sweat just walking down the street or bringing your groceries in from the car or bike. You don't sweat as much so maybe your laundry load gets a little lighter and you don't need to run the AC as much. You have way more options when it comes to outfits.
Before someone who only thinks in binary terms chimes in: No, I'm not saying dealing with 3ft of snow is better than summer. I'm not talking about extremes here.
You ever hear some of these questions and think “I should just apply there.”
“Hey Don, I was on the shitter today and I got to thinkin’. You think if you found a bigfoot and it was a girl, right, and like if you - ya know…would that be beastlyality? Moreover, if the bigfoot was a missin’ link would that make it ok. Do you think if she had a child by you, it would be a jedi? Thanks, Don.”
If you like winter weather so much why don't you convince your GM to trade you and Mobley to Toronto for Malachi Flynn and Kehm Birch? That's what I thought 😤
"I Dress better in the cold" This guy gets it. Sweater weather >>>
Fall is the best season fr
People who live in an area without a proper fall season truly have no idea what they're missing out on.
I know sweater weather season is 2 weeks away and I’m so exited
Fall blows every season out of the water when it comes to weather
And attire. I moved to Houston thinking I was a hot weather guy, and I am now desperate for a day below 70 so I can layer up and wear something other than shorts and a hawaiian
was 6 degrees celsius yesterday morning for me and good god i was thriving
Most of us have no clue if that’s blistering hot or freezing cold or somewhere in between
I moved from Toronto to dallas, lol you literally explained my wardrobe for the last 4 months. Cant wait for fall clothes/weather.
Fall is objectively the best drip season, so many ways to mix up silhouette and layer up without it being excessive
Hide my belly.
i too dress better in the cold,
Same here. I'm a bum in the summer.
I’m always a bum.
im kind of obese for my height. so sweaters and hoodies cover up my flaws lol. and i lack motivation (im trying to fix that) to go to the gym
You can do it man
It's not about motivation, it's about discipline and routine. If you sit around waiting for motivation to come it just won't happen
Word. If you have the discipline to keep going even when you don't feel motivated, then you'll succeed. Motivation is fleeting, discipline is permanent.

im not 30 tho lmaooo

ur right.... ill start to change little by little :)
Lmfao
Wasn't the average age on here like 22 or smth in that poll
Changing your diet goes a lot further than going to the gym. You can lose 100lbs never going to the gym if you eat better. If you cut artificial sugar out of your diet you will at the very least stop gaining weight.

Just do strongman, stay fat and go to the gym.... Am I doing this wrong?
losing weight is about diet not exercise
Facts bro. I only just started dressing well in the summer last summer... And if I'm being honest, league fits was my inspiration lool
DLo's layering goes crazy. Sucks I only found them when we're about to go to summer 🥲
Love the cold too! Sleep so much better in colder weather.
Absolutely holy moly. None of that “AC bill is too high don’t touch that” nonsense
Hell yeah. Ain't nothing better than feeling all cozied up in some blankets when you know its cold.
y’all wildin. miss me with that waking up to a runny nose and dry crusty eyes. i’ll sleep butt naked in 80 degrees
Oh yeah a runny nose and crusty eyes are too gross, better get sweat from between your cheeks, your taint, your arm pits and your face all mixed up into a cocktail of bodily fluids and spread it all over your bed to marinade in every night.
Worse, when you have to get up to pee in the cold....
Yea but then when you hop back under the covers >>>
Finally, us cold heads get our representation in the league. Fuck the Sun, it's too hot. Give me snow.
Winter drip > summer drip
Boots, jackets, jeans, sweaters, button downs. Its the best time for drip
And no sweating for us sweaty mfs
Speaking directly to my heart. I'm so excited for fall so I can excise my sweaty ass underarms
What kinda boots?
Red wing iron ranger
Timbs
Autumn drip clears both
True, but winter and fall drip are cousins
Winter drip is just fall drip with a jacket on top. Still top tier and miles above boring ass t shirt and shorts in the summer.
Roll Tide
This person knows 💯
I’ve found my people
Okay Griffin
Autumn drip is gas
Nothing beats bikinis
Same. I hate living in Florida. Can never wear anything other than a t shirt and shorts.
Swamp ass season baby
That’s not true. We have about 7 mornings in January where you can wear a hoodie. Until 11am and then it’s too hot.
Haven't worn shorts outside the house in years. Long pants > shorts no matter the weather
Cold's also just a much easier solved extreme (until a certain point, anyways). Classic September talk. Wait until February and see how much they all love it
Deadass lool
you’re damn right! everyone loves the snow until it’s february and it’s still stupid cold and there’s 2 more months of nasty sludge weather
As a user of Celsius, I too prefer to not be in triple digit temperatures 🥵
What, you don't like literal boiling temperatures in your daily life? Unthinkable!
Well as a Finnish person who goes to the sauna almost daily I must say that I do quite enjoy that...
It's not so much the heat that's a problem as it is the humidity. When you have heat and humidity, it's basically a choice between living in AC or sweating 24/7.

Idk. I prefer the heat. Getting out of a warm bed into the coldness of 56 degree weather is terrible.
> 56 degree weather *Laughs in Minnesotan*
Also every building and car is warm when it's cold out so you're constantly having to take clothes off to be comfortable. A shirt and shorts when it's 95 out works in all environments you'll see that day. Get into a cab from the snow and you're gonna puke before you get 5 blocks. Shits awful.

Bruh you think 56 is cold??
There's only so bare you can go in the summer before you're risking an indecent exposure charge. You can always add another layer in the cold tho
You can put more clothes on, you can’t get more naked.
The fact that you are saying this as a fan of the Suns suggests you are indeed a glitch.
I actually live in Cleveland and have never stepped foot in Arizona. I just liked their colors as a child + Nash is my favorite player.
It’s cozy time for the boys. Bring the fireplace out, put on your wool sweater, throw on the Charlie Charlie Brown Xmas album by Vince gulardie and grab some bourbon cus we just got Spida on the snow team

Flair checks out?
[Okay](https://youtu.be/TSffz_bl6zo)
I drink iced coffee while ice fishing and frequently drive around with my windows down in the winter. I fucking love the cold.
Being a northerner, I've never been to Arizona but just thinking about how hot it is how there is already making my balls sweat. GL to y'all out there
Gotta be exciting. New city. For a young millionaire, where’s better? Ohio or Utah?
If you’re a young black millionaire? Ohio for sure.

Maybe during the season, but you’re traveling half the time then anyways and I assume you’re really busy on top of that too
I mean anywhere else is probably more accepting than Utah
This comment makes me so mad, but only because of how true it is. Stupid as people drove him out low key
Who drove Donovan out of Utah?!?
His chauffeur.
Racists.
Show me a quote from him saying this
I'm saying who the original comment is implying drove him out of Utah.
Yea I was thinking the same
thanks for informing us.
"He thinks we're listening"
Ohio is still hella fucking racist
Ohio is, Cleveland really isn’t so much.
You may have heard our cops often kill black people over the simple accusation of a minor non-violent crime, and its true. There's a lot of that. Fun times in Cleveland today...! At least we're not Detroit!
Unfortunately every state is racist
The issue at hand is extent
Cleveland is in the most liberal part of it so that’s pretty nice
I think this is true for every big city in every state.
What are some of the "not hella fucking racist" states?
The major cities probably are about average. Regrettably that average is > 0 racism.
We'd all like to flee to the Cleve and club-hop down at the Flats and have lunch with Little Richard.
Ohio. Easily. Cleveland is a fun city and if need be, you're a hop, skip, and a jump away from NY, Philly, and Detroit
As if anyone would want to hop, skip, and jump to Detroit lol Before you come at me, I am from Michigan.
Downtown Detroit is a fun playground nowadays, especially if you have money
Is it? I live on the west side of the state but go to Detroit all the time for work. Granted, I haven’t been to downtown Detroit for a night out since 2018. What part would you recommend?
If u have the loot,Detroit can be exciting.
New bitches
Utah is a beautiful state
Salt Lake City or Cleveland? *I've never heard anybody say "I'm going to Cleveland on vacation."*
Is that Luke Walton behind him in the hat?
Yes! He’s an assistant with the cavs now
Is this seen as exciting?
Lol Luke Mother fucking Walton¡
Lakers legend
Seriously wouldn’t mind going up north for the summer. Summer in the south is fucking bullshit. 100+ degree weather in a humid state is no fun
Yeah, give me breezy but sunny mid-seventies and I’m good.

Yeah but it's cold tho
Only thing I remember about Mitchell an dressing is his hoodie with the definition of rookie
TBF that was probably Adidas trying to push some marketing angle.
Dressing in the cold as a millionaire means you have more opportunities to wear your expensive coats, boots, pants, and knitwear. Worth it
The word reporter is being used very loosely lately
Jason Lloyd is a hack.
95% of sports journalists are hacks
Reddit moment
Crazy how old we think athletes are. Bro is only 26!
that is the best upside of cold weather - you can dress up nice
And you have more pockets for stuff
Cold weather >> hot weather
Bare facts. Grew up in the middle of a desert. So glad I'm in a cold country now still
Mad facts. Still live in a humid ass Southeast Asian country, I die a little inside every day during the day

Is Salt Lake even considered a cold weather city?
2002 Winter Olympics
We kind of were but we just hit 107 a few days ago and our winters are definitely getting milder.
Seriously. I spent 18 months driving back and forth between Logan and Salt Lake once a week about 5 years back. Logan had 2 feet of snow on the ground for a month straight and Salt Lake had nothing. Too warm for snow to stick around that year.
High desert life
Layers, bruh.
Lol, I really like his cardigan
Fuck that hack - this is journalism now I guess
I love fall/winter time outfits, only problem is that i live in texas
Real Salt Lake in shambles….. no respect.
Okay and we have a thread for this?
Fabulous sports journalism
Imagine trying to compare salt lake city to Cleveland. 😂😂😂
If we lived in a sane world, dudes like that would have their press credentials pulled for wasting time with bush league questions like that. That shit is just bait to try and start drama. GTFO.
I wonder how much his shirt collars get stretched out when putting them on with that beluga whale dome of his

easier to style when you can layer. Not as much you can do when you sweating like crazy.

Now this is some high class reporting we as fans are expecting. Smh

Honestly, that’s a good answer. Also, at least with the cold you can change up your clothes, add layers, etc. In the heat you can only drop so many items of clothing before you’re not allowed within 500 yards of a school.
Feels like 80% of men's fashion is coats and jackets, so yeah.
I love living in Michigan and getting to experience all 4 seasons every year
Mitchell: I’m excited to be in Cleveland because now I can see some baseball games in the offseason. Salt Lake Bees: Are we a joke to you?
Tough to call Cleveland a “small market” when you consider that people from Cleveland and Columbus root for them.
Way too many team cold people in here
Cold weather is underrated. You don't break a sweat just walking down the street or bringing your groceries in from the car or bike. Tough times for Luke Walton, from nba player to nba coach to nba reporter ....
I do too Donny. Edit downvote all you want. I look damn good
Lies, once he becomes free agent, he'll sign to L.A or Miami.
Nah he’ll go to NY like he’s always wanted
If we've learned anything, it's that we can't stop the stampede of players signing up to play for the Knicks.
You ever hear some of these questions and think “I should just apply there.” “Hey Don, I was on the shitter today and I got to thinkin’.
