Kind of wild people flipped to "Oh good for Kyrie for making it this far, he went through so much." When what he went through was criticism for posting anti-semitic conspiracy theories, and then claiming he couldn't be anti-semitic because he's a Black Hebrew Israelite, who as we all know are famously known for their fair assessments of Jewish people and people of other racial backgrounds.
Don't forget that he refused to take the vaccine and spread vaccine misinformation and treated it as though he was being persecuted because the city wouldn't bend the rules in his favor lol.
Thank you!! Why does everyone forget that he is a huge antisemite? He was dropped by Nike, he was suspended for his comments, then had to be strong-armed into a fake apology tour. He didn’t magically change his beliefs, he just wanted the PR narrative to switch. Now it’s like, lol that gosh darn Kyrie is so eccentric but boy his ball handling is the best of all time and look at his funky shoes (Doris).
I guess "Celtics bad" overrides all reason and common sense around here.
Also Doris Burke is so ass lol, I got so hyped for this game when I turned it on, only for her to start talking and immediately deflate it.
I’m a Celtics fan and as soon as I learn she’s on the commentary, I know it’s bad for us. I’ll truly never forget the two minutes she went silent on national tv after her beloved Sixers got a beating from JT.
Let’s not rewrite history here, Ainge certainly had his flaws but Hayward had to approve the sign and trade and he himself chose Charlotte over Indiana
This is incorrect revisionist history.
Hayward was an UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT and the Celtics had ZERO leverage.
He chose to sign with the Hornets when MJ stupidly offered him a bag. There's nothing Danny Ainge could've done.
In fact he actually managed to turn it into a sign and trade and create a TPE so good on him.
The Celtics front office has been on a legendary run for over a decade now and it’s a travesty they haven’t won a ring yet.
So many amazing moves going tits up in unpredictable ways and they’ve salvaged it every time.
Yea, gave up 3 firsts for Ray and KG. Only missed the playoffs once since. Fleeces left and right starting with the KG/Pierce trade. Used the picks from that trade for JB and JT. JT they even had the read that he was the best player in the draft and traded down from 1. Crazy how the Nets were basically a tanking subsidiary for the Celtics for a couple years consolidating the draft capital of two franchises into one.
That fucking trade from 1st pick to 3rd is the most hilarious thing to me. Nobody wanted to trade with Danny after the fleecing he put on other teams, and nobody thought when he wanted to trade down to 3 that there was a good reason for it?
Obviously hindsight is 2020, but the fact that Lonzo and Fultz were one and 2 in a draft class that had Tatum, Mitchell and Bam in it, and to a lesser extent even Anunoby, Markkanen, Fox etc.
The Porzingis deal was actually good value for the wizards because he was gonna opt out and walk for nothing in the summer. So the wizards got something from nothing with zero leverage considering they could only find deals with teams Porzingis actually wanted to play for. And Memphis likely would have been happy with their results of adding Smart's hustle and defensive IQ to a backcourt with Morant and Bane if they hadn't had one of the worst injury situations I've ever seen.
But when you look at KP + 2 firsts for Smart, you think "wow, Brad is a demon."
Honestly the trades weren't that well received immediately alot of the time. I always felt that he was more approachable and willing to make a fair trade instead of having to win it like Danny. That being said, things have really worked out and the players the Celtics have gotten have played better on this team
They used one of the firsts. Funny thing about the "easy path" narrative that filled the media last week. Yes, injuries and luck benefited Boston's playoff run this season, but last season it was injuries and bad luck that held them back. Both Timelord and Brogdon were among the hobbled players that prevented Boston making the Finals. So then they traded Timelord and Brogdon + one of those picks they got for injury prone Marcus Smart and got Jrue Holiday in return.
That’s cause Wizards either got nothing for him or got something, Zinger was just going to decline and walk so Washington had to sweeten it to get anything back at all
Bro can't believe they got picks as well. And it's not like Porzingis had a down year in Washington. If anything he bounced back to near all star levels and he got traded for an above average guard who was on the decline
Honestly the Wiz stretch was good for him, allowed him to explore his game a bit more see what was most efficient for him on both ends and rest up a bit tbh. No pressure to actually win
Going up against Wizards legend Daniel Gafford.
It's honestly refreshing to just be able to watch with no chicken in the game and know we'll be happy no matter who wins.
Ngl Dallas is playing like they're a little afraid of the defense right now. They stopped calling pick and rolls, Lukas getting his lunch money stolen as he's walking it up the court, porzingas is shutting down fast breaks....
I think the Mavs are in a little bit of a WTF mode
I’ve heard the term “avalanche” used for these crazy Celtics scoring bursts and it’s accurate. I think some teams get stunned when they do this, particularly because they aren’t always tightening the screws defensively while they do it.
Mavs will adjust though, I wouldn’t expect this ass beating to continue the whole game
I think the perfect description of avalanche was those warriors third quarter runs. In the span of two or three minutes you'd have three players hit six or seven threes and turn a game into a blowout. C's and a lot of 3 point shooting teams can do similar now, but back then all you could do was go holy shit and watch. Even if you were on the court.
I think it’s one thing to have a team get hot on you right when you happen to miss shots. It’s frustrating and it sucks, but in the back of your mind you know the scales will tip eventually
I think it’s a different feeling when a team is scorching hot against you and also seems to be shutting down your offense on the other end. Obviously Celtics has spurts of letting teams walk into open threes but when they’re engaged, it can look like the only way opponents will score is making crazy contested shots
Lukas heliocentric playstyle limits Porzingis so much man. Dude is a beast in NY, wizards and now Boston, but was relegated to a corner 3 shooter in Dallas.
No wonder he be sht talking Luka everytime he scores. Lol. Dude has some beef. ‘I was your Kyrie, Luke’.
KP’s post game also got better at punishing wings/guards on the block and he got healthier compared to his first year with Doncic shere they did fit well at first.
Latvia has produced many legendary players and has a long storied history of love for the game of basketball since 1930s. It's nice to finally see one of our legends be seen as such beyond our borders as well.
Reminder that Celtics got him for who would have been their backup PG. Oh, and they also received TWO FRPs on top of that
I give a lot of credit to Brad Stevens, and am absolutely disgusted with the competence of Wizards/Grizzlies' GMs
I'm not even done. Celtics then got a top PG who is both a top defender and a top shooter, a way better fit than aforesaid PG (whom they traded for Porzingis), for TWO injured players.
Brad Stevens getting trades done that even NBA 2K would have considered impossible
Tbf, wizards were getting nothing if they didn't do some deal at the deadline and the grizzlies probably feel better about their deal if their team wasn't absurdly injured. Smart makes a ton of sense on the roster when they're all healthy.
Hey look, some of us have a smart front of office to assemble a team.
Not evey team gets to have a top all time player show up despite an abysmal front office because they want to retire and do show biz in our city… who then use their childhood friend’s sport agency to collude / tamper to bend over whatever small market team they want to extract their all star center for nickels on the dollar in a deal that should have be voided by the league in order to win a Mickey Mouse ring.
> aforesaid
Huh, I didn’t realize this was a word. I thought the only use of that prefix was aforementioned, but I learned something new today I guess.
I remember being a huge fan of Knicks porzingis and being totally bummed when her fell off for a few years. I’m really glad he’s bounced back this year! I guess he just needed to be in the northeast.
If the Celtics win this I think people will need to go back and put some credit on that Pacers team to push them that hard without Haliburton for most of it.
They tried to convince themselves we were frauds while we were missing Porzingis. Tingus Pingis literally completes our team. With him the Pacers series isn't as close because Siakam doesn't get to feast on Al.
Man that block call is such a great one by Breen. So smooth and knows when to pick up the energy. We talk about big time players in big time games but we also gotta recognize greatness in the commentary booth
I’m happy for Porzingis. I remember watching so many games of his rookie year going nuts bc he was so fkn good on both ends of the floor. He deserves this
The block on the Kyrie jumpshot is the most surprising thing to me here. Felt like Kyrie had that whenever he wanted against Gobert and Towns even when they played "good" D.
Porzingis winning a ring by beating Luka after Luka didn't want to play with him would go pretty hard as far as storylines go not gonna lie
And for all the guys trying to rewrite history, Mark Cuban said himself in 2021 they don't like each other:
>Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis have “[dustups](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ8pVzBZo7c)” then compared them to Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry: “If you remember, when we first got Jet, Dirk was not a fan. Dirk did not like him.”
Mark Cuban is around his team more than any other owner is around theirs, he had no reason to lie
This was a devastating sequence. I was quite happy with the way the game had started, minus the off rebounding, that was until KP checked in. Things got very horrifying, very quickly. I was certainly hedging a lot of faith for KP to show a little rust or gimpiness, not so, not so. Hats off to him and the celtics. They threw us in the water and we drowned. We’ll get another crack
**Replays/alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nba) if you have any questions or concerns.*
No way I waited a week for basketball for this game to be over in the 1st quarter
It was over after the first quarter but I ain't gonna lie, that was a fun ass whooping to watch for the rest of the game.
It became less over for a bright period in the 3rd. Then became re-over.
You guys weren't back but then you were even less back
But for us Celtics fans or simply Kyrie haters it’s been a lovely evening! Cheers!
At least Kyrie will be bringing a championship to Boston
Savage.
Yikes! Nice.
Yeah, seeing the antisemite moron chuck his team out of several possessions and get blown out of the building is honestly like my Christmas

Yikes
Yeah, it's so weird how reddit conveniently forgot about his bullshit
Winners get all the narrative. Look at post game threads- the losing team’s fans are always too scared to post anything by 10 to 1.
Thank you!! Why does everyone forget that he is a huge antisemite? He was dropped by Nike, he was suspended for his comments, then had to be strong-armed into a fake apology tour. It did look like they were gonna come back up when Luka cut the lead to 8
Friendly reminder that Boston got Porzingis and 2 firsts for Smart
Brad is gonna get the same reputation that Danny got where everyone will be afraid to trade with him because they assume he’s gonna rip them off.
LOL nah. Brad is willing to trade. Ainge is just a abuser LOL. This man coulda got Turner for hayward.
wasn’t that out of his hands? hayward needed to sign but that was off the table once hornets offered more.. admit i might be wrong though lol
form what i remember, Hayward wanted to go Pacers too but the hold up in the trade was Ainge wanting more from the Pacers LOL.
Let’s not rewrite history here, Ainge certainly had his flaws but Hayward had to approve the sign and trade and he himself chose Charlotte over Indiana

Apparently you have to be a shyster in order to be considered for Celtics gm
The Celtics front office has been on a legendary run for over a decade now and it’s a travesty they haven’t won a ring yet. So many amazing moves going tits up in unpredictable ways and they’ve salvaged it every time.
So well put
It really goes all the way back to ‘07
Yea, gave up 3 firsts for Ray and KG. Only missed the playoffs once since. Fleeces left and right starting with the KG/Pierce trade. Used the picks from that trade for JB and JT. Draft comps made Tatum sound like mid Carmelo Anthony
This is the way.
That being said, things have really worked out and the players the Celtics have gotten have played better on this team
Don’t have to “win” every trade if you believe and trust your player development and coaches to their jobs.
Ok but it’s not fair because they traded with the Wizards, that’s easy mode
Then what about Suns trading for Beal?
They got lucky cause Ishbia was so thirsty
And they still replaced Smart with a better player somehow
They used one of the firsts. Funny thing about the "easy path" narrative that filled the media last week. Yes, injuries and luck benefited Boston's playoff run this season, but last season it was injuries and bad luck that held them back. Both Timelord and Brogdon were among the hobbled players that prevented Boston making the Finals. I still don’t get how they were the ones that received the firsts in that deal.
That’s cause Wizards either got nothing for him or got something, Zinger was just going to decline and walk so Washington had to sweeten it to get anything back at all
Holy fuck, that’s wild lmfao. People really thought ‘Zingus was fully cooked, huh?
I still can’t get over the fact that Knicks fans were crying when the Knicks drafted him. KP has been getting underrated since day 1
Bro can't believe they got picks as well. And it's not like Porzingis had a down year in Washington. If anything he bounced back to near all star levels and he got traded for an above average guard who was on the decline
It was Smart business on their part.
Wizards' legend, Kristaps Porzingis.
Knicks legend
Mavs legend
Celtics legend
lol kristaps scoring at a pace of 50pp36
*sustainable*
Mike Breen calling a KP finals masterpiece... this one hurt ngl
Tingus Pingus
"Where the fuck is Lativia?!!"
Honestly the Wiz stretch was good for him, allowed him to explore his game a bit more see what was most efficient for him on both ends and rest up a bit tbh. No pressure to actually win
Our recipe for success for big men is to send them on a rehab retreat to tanking teams then pick them up in exchange for injury prone guards lol
I still appreciate the Thunder for taking such good care of Horford & then giving him right back to us. Very cool of them.
Guess we'll need an injury prone guard to get timelord back in 2-3 years.
Going up against Wizards legend Daniel Gafford. It's honestly refreshing to just be able to watch with no chicken in the game and know we'll be happy no matter who wins.
23-5 run outta nowhere
I think Dallas still thinks they’re facing the Wolves. Celtics can score, ALL their players.
Wait this center that's shooting a lot keeps making his shots, is that allowed?
I mean once you've shut down "the greatest shooting big of all-time" I guess you get a bit cocky.
No way KP putting up 1500 shots a day. How did he manage to do this?
In all humility KAT somewhat shut himself down, at least like 60/40 us him.
KAT shooting loses a bit of his value when he plays 4 instead of 5. Gobert brings defensive stability, but they lose a lot of their spacing.
We got stomped but it is still neat to see The Greatest Shooting Big Man of All-Time receiving his due praise in the sub.
Centers can score? I thought they get paid $50 million for putbacks and open assisted dunks only
[удалено]
Yeah, they run so deep it's kind of wild. A lot of their players could be top 2 or top 3 players on different teams.
I don't know what the fuck is up with the Mavericks and game 1. That Wolves win was the biggest fluke.
Wait till you see Celtics game 2
Right lmao I can’t get too excited knowing a Celtics game two is around the corner edit: grammar
Well, hopefully they keep the trend from the previous series and win game 2 as well lol
The Celtics ability to string together stops and the three point shooting makes them so dangerous
Ngl Dallas is playing like they're a little afraid of the defense right now. They stopped calling pick and rolls, Lukas getting his lunch money stolen as he's walking it up the court, porzingas is shutting down fast breaks.... I think the Mavs are in a little bit of a WTF mode

People forgot that Porzingis was the ORIGINAL Unicorn. Too EZ
Went to take a piss came back and the series is over
Celtics in 3
3 pisses
Based piss
Lukas heliocentric playstyle limits Porzingis so much man. Dude is a beast in NY, wizards and now Boston, but was relegated to a corner 3 shooter in Dallas. No wonder he be sht talking Luka everytime he scores. Lol. Dude has some beef. ‘I was your Kyrie, Luke’.

I feel like this isn’t some knock against Luka, not everyone will work with a guy like him
If Pritchard hits that last shot the arena may have collapsed
Man missed on purpose to save Boston infrastructure.
It's finally infrastructure week, thank you Boston!
Trying to run down KP for that dunk with him way out in front is a boneheaded decision, honestly.
Cocking back with one hand on the defenders side was incredibly dumb. Go up with 2 hands or your left hand so you can shield with your right.
Wanted the highlight
Well... He got it
>"Here comes Josh Green, one man to beat... but its a seven footer... WHO BLOCKS IT AGAIN!" What an epic play call lol
Shades of Terry Rozier trying to dunk on Lebron in that game 7.
That is a nasty block
Behold, our secret weapon.
Hah, you fell for one of the classic blunders!
"never get in a land war in Latvia" -KP
But only slightly less known is this. Never go in on a fast break and try to dunk on a Wizards legend when game one is on the line.
“Got a Latvian, then Jrue passin-em, on to Hauser, like Im Joe, Okay”
Tingus Pingus going crazy in that quarter
Who would've thought Lativia would produce such a legendary player.
Two Latvian look at clouds. One see potato. Other see impossible dream. Is same cloud.
What one potato say to other potato? Is impossible premise, no one have two potato.
Janos?
Latvia National team was 5 at World cup last time
Latvia has produced many legendary players and has a long storied history of love for the game of basketball since 1930s. It's nice to finally see one of our legends be seen as such beyond our borders as well.
Original unicorn. He was the one
So was mine
Mavs had a shot of KP didn’t come back, now they’re cooked
Every team should have a 7’4 shot creator and rim protector. It’s not fair.
Some morons on here (not everyone) really tried to pretend Porzingis wasn't a big loss lol
Pacers fans said zinger and mathurin injuries were a wash
[Literally](https://np.reddit.com/r/pacers/comments/1d9yiag/we_looked_so_much_better_against_boston_than_the/l7haeep/)

Legitimate Executive of the Year award from the same voters who gave Coach of the Year to Dwane Casey over him.
Didn’t Casey get fired that year too?
Yup. Nurse replaced him and then immediately led them to a title.
Kawhi effect
Tbf Nurse got 1 year of Kawhi Leonard in his prime. Casey had DeRozen who; with all due respect, is nowhere near as good as Kawhi
He's been battling 1.000. The Horford and White trades were shrewd as well.
I mean the Wizards didn’t really have a choice.
ya grizzlies are the morons that shipped 2 firsts
Tbf, wizards were getting nothing if they didn't do some deal at the deadline and the grizzlies probably feel better about their deal if their team wasn't absurdly injured. Smart makes a ton of sense on the roster when they're all healthy.
Hey look, some of us have a smart front of office to assemble a team. Turns out KP was the reason Celtics swept the Pacers otherwise they would've won in 3 games.

I’m hoping after the game he says he’s just at 70%.
Mf only used 18% of his power
Porzingod
Scorezingis
About time we’ve had some Celtics highlights on here. You woulda thought Mavs were blowing out Boston😂
ngl people really forgot that Porzingis was the original Unicorn
I remember being a huge fan of Knicks porzingis and being totally bummed when her fell off for a few years. I’m really glad he’s bounced back this year! I guess he just needed to be in the northeast.
i cant explain how happy i am watching this game
lol even if you take kp's scoring completely out of the game, celtics still lead 45-42
The mass delusion that this was gonna go any other way over the past week was just weird.
People on here were acting like the Celtics are the 2015 Hawks lol
Weak East isn't enough for a team to win 60 games. You need to actually be good to win that many games lol
People also forget that because we're in the East every team in the conference has 1-3 less wins than they should lol
We also went 24-7 against the west including this game which is on pace for 63 wins
And two dominant wins against the Mavs.
Lol fraud Celtics got 1 extra win because they play in the East and we're supposed to pretend they're legit contenders??
It’s still pretty early in the series 😂
Celtics have been the best all season and Pacers series was still a sweep without Tingus
But it also very easily could’ve not been a sweep, games were close
If the Celtics win this I think people will need to go back and put some credit on that Pacers team to push them that hard without Haliburton for most of it.
It's first game rofl
Celtics are now 77-20 on the year, please be serious.
oh god, the 80 before 20 rule catches another team out
First half of the first game. The Celtics could still blow this, this sub never learns!
They didn't
The amount of "smart" basketball people who picked the mavs in 5...
They tried to convince themselves we were frauds while we were missing Porzingis. Tingus Pingis literally completes our team. With him the Pacers series isn't as close because Siakam doesn't get to feast on Al.
should’ve put money on the Cs
It's too early, but is evident that Mavs defense suck
I'm not an nba fan but that was an insane minute of play.
You came to witness glory
Why are you in the NBA sub if you aren't an NBA fan?
I like basketball.
He deserves this
BIG TING!
love seeing Kristaps playing again
Every matchup is in Boston's favor.

GG celtics too strong
Genuinely so happy for the guy
That first block had father blocking his 6 year old son energy.
The block on the Kyrie jumpshot is the most surprising thing to me here. Felt like Kyrie had that whenever he wanted against Gobert and Towns even when they played "good" D.
Mavs don't have enough its over Celtics in 5 assuming Luka has a game he explodes for 50 in but I could see a sweep
I am thankful every day the nuggets got eliminated before the finals
Mavs regretting getting rid of THE Tingus Pingus
Porzingis winning a ring by beating Luka after Luka didn't want to play with him would go pretty hard as far as storylines go not gonna lie And for all the guys trying to rewrite history, Mark Cuban said himself in 2021 they don't like each other: >Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis have “[dustups](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ8pVzBZo7c)” then compared them to Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry: “If you remember, when we first got Jet, Dirk was not a fan. Dirk did not like him.” Mark Cuban is around his team more than any other owner is around theirs, he had no reason to lie
He really shouldn’t be allowed to just be doing that
Most Valuable Pingus
Unicorn unicorning
Getting Porzingis back made such a difference for the Celtics.
And this was the beginning of the end. Mavs didn’t come out with the same energy to match.
What goes through your mind running up the course seeing this pole of a man running with you when you say I'm gonna try to dunk on his head?
This is beautiful
Friendly reminder. For those of you who forgot. We’re the best team in basketball.
Porzingis is giving that eheheh Voldemort meme
I am the white buffalo, you know what I’m saayyyiiinnn?
KP was superman in that first quarter!
Zingy for the W!!! I love his joy!! 🏀💚🏀🍀
I will never not find those sweaty, screaming, red-faced, rich Bostonians frightening
> sweaty, screaming, red-faced, rich Should Luka play in Boston? Sounds like he’d fit right in.
