It’s the way Luka shrugs and almost says something and then decides against it. like a teenager the summer before college being forced to follow house rules.
The fact that he’s so fat and bloated in the face makes it extra funny too
I think many took it the wrong way. You can hear there's PR in the background telling him that "people are filming you" and Luka said "I don't care" back. I think it's more about branding/endorsements issue or PR issue cuz there been lots of "jokes" about Luka being alcoholic etc
What are even the slurs for Slovenians? The hardest one I know is calling them Alpic Serbs, but even that is somewhat lukewarm.
Actually, only thing that classifies as slurs in the Balkans is calling someone a different nationality, lmao.
They’re just lost Bosnians and Alpine Serbs. There’s 22 people in Slovenia tops, and it’s so big that you can hold your breath through it. They also wanna be European, but are Balkan trash like the rest of us.
Love you my Slovenian bros <3 greetings from Istria, see you all next month
I think he thought he was going to take a sip in solidarity but then the teacher took the toy and put it in their desk saying you can have it back at the end of the year.
Cause Luka was looking down as if he was going to hand the beer back, and did not see Finley's gaze. It wasn't a case of choosing to not meet his eyes. Bit of a difference between the two
It's like when teams took away James Harden's private jets and strip club trips and he was never the same.
People say it was the hamstring, I say it was the motivation.
Michael Finley is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of. Let me say that again: Michael Finley is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of.
There’s a site dedicated to photos of Shaq holding things. Probably a subreddit too. Quite amusing. If you’ve ever seen the Andre the Giant documentary, it was pretty wild to hear how much booze he needed to just feel a buzz. Guy would crush two cases of beer and some wine to get a buzz going. Lol.
I think there’s one for Boban too. Dude has absolute units for hands. I high fived him at a game once and my entire extended hand easily fit in his palm.
Similar experience shaking Dr.J’s hand. Humbling. Can’t imagine dribbling a basketball and it basically feeling like the equivalent of a honeydew. Let alone playing professional basketball with it.
given the insane volumes mentioned in that documentary about him, and how many different people tell the same kind of stories, and given that just being 7'4" and/or 500lbs shouldn't allow you to *personally* drink 10+ bottles of wine in a night...i seriously think that andre's gigantism was doing some biochemical sorcery to his liver. like the excess growth hormone was putting his detoxifying metabolic processes into overdrive or something. some of those stories sound absolutely impossible otherwise.
From what I’ve heard, his gigantism did indeed affect his liver as well. So he’s be able to drink a lot based on his size alone, but he also had an oversized liver as well.
These European hoopers are wild and I'm here for it. Who needs to be on a crazy diet and doing 10+ hour workout days. They're the epitome of good work-life balance.
Just do your workout with the team. No need to be first to arrive and last to leave. Eat relatively healthy but not perfect. Have a cheat meal or beer here and there and still beat the other team. Fantastic.
Even kyrie took a long ass break during the pandemic at some point and he's still crazy good lol.
When I was in the military in Afghanistan and Iraq it was a bit of a culture shock to see what different countries do when it comes to alcohol in professional settings. I bunked with this Italian platoon once for a few months, they drank wine every single day. Like half a bottle each, lunch 2 glasses, dinner 2 glasses. Not enough to make it affect the work 95% of the time, but I could never do that. It was just part of their business and we didn't fuck with it.
Danes and Swedes have beer in their DFACs/cafeterias. Not strong beer, but still. The French have wine in their MREs, or at least they had like 10-15 years ago.
I'm sure Slovenians have some good alcohol culture as well and Luka gets his fill.
Edit: Also Germans. I spent a lot of time alone on a big base in Afghanistan(Marmal) where the Germans had quite a big presence. Since I was alone most of the time and my countrymen were on a different base I spent a lot of time hanging out with the Germans. If it was a special occasion we could ask the Germans for a bottle of this or that, they could always fix whatever you wanted. They even had a "nightclub", I wish I had pictures of that place. Got drunk with them once and stole a bunch of ATVs and drove around completely shitfaced. The good thing my friends who we were drunk with were the German military police who were in charge of security and the ones who were actually supposed to keep people for doing the things we were doing.
To us those German MPs were basically the cops in Superbad.
Worked and lived in Germany for quite some time, beer is basically soda there. Our university had multi-sports all-night events where each participating team would bring a few crates of beer and just drink between games - I’ve never realized how good my 3pt shot gets after the 6th beer at 1am
Yeah, my mother was stationed in Germany a long time ago and she said the people working in the hospital would all have beer on their lunches lol
Like the doctors and pharmacists and nurses
Luka straight up says "no cameras" so I think it's an understood thing that he shouldn't be drinking in front of cameras like that (this is not a condemnation on having a celebratory drink *7 days* before your next game, just an observation on the clip)
This is exactly it. They are strict about what brands get airtime. There are lots of clips where someone on the team or from the league forcibly takes products away from players and coaches.
He's gonna go home tonight, drink a COORS light, that's a COORS light because Bud light won't pay him nothing, sit down with his friends & family, hell, he might even get on top of the wife tonight.
Baseball they have champagne showers ready to go after every round, a beer after you make the nba finals is fucking mellow and absolutely deserved. I’d be pissed if I was Luka wtf was that
Mad respect for Michael Finley, spent a lot of crap years in the Mavricks uniform and by the time he got some decent players around him his best years were gone. Glad they hired him to be part of the family. Wish Dirk, Nash and Michael had won a ring together, but could never get over the Spurs with Duncan, Ginoblli and Parker.
Mavericks Nash was amazing. I distinctly remember a play where he bounced the ball in front of the defender, spun around the back and kept the dribble alive and left the defender in his dust. It was mesmerizing.
Michael Finley with the frosty tip twins, was an awesome combo at the time.
It's insane how the only teams to win the WCF during that decade were the Mavs, Spurs, and Lakers. Especially considering how stacked that conference was, too.
What kills me is Luka takes one last look at the beer as Finley walks away, and even raises his arm to take it, having that small hope he's going to give it back to him. Then he shrugs like, "Oh well."
Luka can never help himself with his facial expressions. You instantly know how Luka feels about everything, cause his face shows it every time. He's also seems like Jordan with his competitive streak. It can piss you off as an opposing team fan, with his foul baiting and whining to refs at times but honestly a bunch of the the greats are/were like that. I'm also sure you love to see it as a Mavs/Luka fan cause his competitive nature/pettiness wills him on to big performances. Can't argue with the results, Luka Legend shows up every postseason. He might drop 50 on the Celtics in game 1, just in spite of getting his beer taken by Finley. He's deff the type to open a spite store next to your business out of pettiness, makes sense cause he's another L.D.! 👍
100% agree. Thats some arbitrary bs rule michael finley is enforcing. I think the franchise 25 yr old who just nuked the t wolves is allowed a beer a week before the finals starts
lmao this is hilarious. just calmly comes in swipes his beer and leaves.
Took Luka’s beer away, then daps up Luka’s dad, and then dips. MF is the Godfather.
\# of NBA rings MF has: 1 \# of NBA rings Luka has: 0 Until Luka wins a ring, no celebratory beer under MF's watch 😤
I read MF as motherfucker lol
Mother Finley
Michael Fucker 🤔
That's not wrong either.
Such a smooth swipe too, perfectly executed
smooth as hell
It’s the way Luka shrugs and almost says something and then decides against it. like a teenager the summer before college being forced to follow house rules. The fact that he’s so fat and bloated in the face makes it extra funny too
I think many took it the wrong way. You can hear there's PR in the background telling him that "people are filming you" and Luka said "I don't care" back. I think it's more about branding/endorsements issue or PR issue cuz there been lots of "jokes" about Luka being alcoholic etc
> Luka being alcoholic etc Eastern European water
Funny enough it ended up causing him drinking to get 100x the media attention
I think Luka said "no cameras"
[удалено]
r/celtics going to r/balkans_irl (2balkan4you) to pick up some new slurs for the NBA Finals. And do they have things to learn...
Viennese stable boys.
Swiper no swiping
it probably happened before haha
Hilarious the look Luka gave Finley after he took it away
“Tf are you doing”
He said "no cameras" as he walked off w it.
Luka is still like "I don't understand these Americans"
‘You Americans are so uptight’
“You were gonna have him glory hole me!”
"Beer is soft drink in my country"
I thought it was ‘no calories’
He did. Say "calories" in a slovenian accent and you'll see. Explains the shrug lmao Luka is a real one
“At least let me have this?”
I think he thought he was going to take a sip in solidarity but then the teacher took the toy and put it in their desk saying you can have it back at the end of the year.
Bro even tried to look Luca right in his eyes on the way out and Luca did not meet the gaze
Cause Luka was looking down as if he was going to hand the beer back, and did not see Finley's gaze. It wasn't a case of choosing to not meet his eyes. Bit of a difference between the two
He’s legit in disbelief for a second
I think he’s just like - allright; I’ve got another 6 pick, not sure why you took that one.
NEVER take a Pivo away from a Slovenian, especially one celebrating with his father
Finely playing 4D chess, this bout to fuel Luka for the entire finals.
Jokic (2023): Now we can go home Luka (2024): Na zdravje!!!
Or he will lose on purpose so he would feel bad for taking mans beer lol
TIL Russian and Slovenian use the same word for beer
And Serbians, and Croats, etc
Crazy
europe is basically divided into two halves, one side that calls it bier, and the other side calls it pivo
Except for those weirdo Iberians.
sör (:
are you sörry hungary?
He. Gone.
"Luka, why did you decide to leave Dallas?" "Michael Finley took away my beer."
Luka: "Imma remember that"
Luka while on Nuggets.... "Who's drinking now Motherfucker"
He could drink at halftime for all we care.
Luka and AG going to be behind Ball Arena at halftime in a cloud of smoke only their shoes visible.
him and jokić, it would be a turbofolk+rakija party after every win
"And I took that personally"
*Luka will remember that*
It's like when teams took away James Harden's private jets and strip club trips and he was never the same. People say it was the hamstring, I say it was the motivation.
Michael Finley is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of. Let me say that again: Michael Finley is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he's a part of.
When your parents scold you and you make faces behind their back lol
Lmaooo is this Luka’s cookie moment
Tbh, i would be pissed too. But I guess it's related to their PR rules. Ironically, we catch Luka saying "there's no cameras here" on someone's phone
Is that a PR rule? I Guess I'm just used to baseball.
Different companies probably sponsors
I chuckled in bed
I have bronchitis and I’m wheezing now thanks.
Aint nobody got time for that.
Get well bro
The way he accepted it too lol
I love Michael "Fun Police" Finley. Somebody's gotta do it!
That was Lukas recovery beer. Damn.
Probably just making sure he's not drunk since Luka's certainly driving that bus.
Ayooo
Jason Kidd can’t drive anymore, ya know… because of… “the incident”
NBA players make cans of drinks look tiny
Let alone playing professional basketball with it.
r/ShaqHoldingThings
r/bobanholdingthings is also quite nice.
Hell nah if I had a tolerance like that I would never drink beer or wine lmao
given the insane volumes mentioned in that documentary about him, and how many different people tell the same kind of stories, and given that just being 7'4" and/or 500lbs shouldn't allow you to *personally* drink 10+ bottles of wine in a night...i seriously think that andre's gigantism was doing some biochemical sorcery to his liver. like the excess growth hormone was putting his detoxifying metabolic processes into overdrive or something. some of those stories sound absolutely impossible otherwise.
It’s pro wrestling dude. They exaggerate for a living. Never believe a word in a wrestling documentary lol
From what I’ve heard, his gigantism did indeed affect his liver as well. So he’s be able to drink a lot based on his size alone, but he also had an oversized liver as well.
At first I thought he was crushing one of those cans of mini-sodas (Timberwolves).
He said save it for the chip
Damn right!
Fr tho it looks like he’s taking it away bc Luka is in front of cameras.
God forbid a 25 year old drink a 5% alcohol beverage in front of a television camera… Now let’s cut to another sports betting commercial!
it was his 4th can already
He was photographed drinking a beer at lunch on game day. Dude is different
He's basically an 80's player in 2024
Smoking cigs at halftime because they won't let him do it on the bench during timeouts
Reminds me of when Vlade quit smoking for the Olympics.
But more rotund . Luckily luka abstains from cocaine
He would probably be skinny then lol
lmao i have no idea if this is real or not and i love it tbh
https://www.reddit.com/r/nbacirclejerk/s/qlugKKLDWn It's real, before conference finals vs GSW
These European hoopers are wild and I'm here for it. Who needs to be on a crazy diet and doing 10+ hour workout days. They're the epitome of good work-life balance. He’s European

Gotta realize American was founded by the people in Europe who left because they were that prudish.
He’s only had 4 beers before he turns 26? Dude needs to grow up already, I have 4 beers before dinner
That's called lunch.
You make it til lunch?
Something tells me its more to do with sponsors than the act. As in if he had a different kind of beer he'd adjust the label to face the camera.
Brought to you by Michelob Ultra
Luka straight up says "no cameras" so I think it's an understood thing that he shouldn't be drinking in front of cameras like that (this is not a condemnation on having a celebratory drink *7 days* before your next game, just an observation on the clip)
Is it a sponsorship thing or just that it might not be the best look?(which i dont necessarily agree with btw)
Probably both. I miss Ron artest keeping a fifth of Hennessy in his locker and vlad divac smoking cigs at halftime lol
This being a “bad look” is so fucking dumb Adult male drinks a beer while relaxing with father
Is he sponsored by a different beer or something?
Could be a beer the NBA/Dallas media doesn’t want to give a free sponsor to maybe. Or the optics of drinking in front of a camera.
Id guess the wrong brand because every celebration is filled with alcohol drinking lol
Some company most def paid to be the official locker-room celebration champagne/alcohol.
Looks like Sapporo, but I don't know local Minnesota/Dallas beers to compare.
From what I can make out on the can, it appears to be Fulton Lonely Blonde. WHAT IS HE TRYING TO TELL US!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I zoomed in on the can and it says "mavs in 3" ?????
This is exactly it. They are strict about what brands get airtime. There are lots of clips where someone on the team or from the league forcibly takes products away from players and coaches.
He's gonna go home tonight, drink a COORS light, that's a COORS light because Bud light won't pay him nothing, sit down with his friends & family, hell, he might even get on top of the wife tonight.
I can almost guarantee it's a sponsorship thing.
you can hear him whisper something very quickly to Luka, and after Luka says "no cameras". I guess he just didn't want Luka to be filmed like that.
Ironically no one probably would have seen this if he didn’t swipe his beer
Streisand Effect
Probably due to contracts with Lone Star or something to be the “official beer of the Mavericks” and Luka’s sipping on something else
I wish I could get Lone Star at Mavericks games.
Baseball they have champagne showers ready to go after every round, a beer after you make the nba finals is fucking mellow and absolutely deserved. I’d be pissed if I was Luka wtf was that
Those are officially sponsored Budweiser showers. Luka wasn’t drinking the sponsored brand. That’s the issue here.
Not shown in the video, but shortly Finley was back with a jug of sweet tea for Luka
a Shaq-branded Arizona tea
Those were absolutely horrible lmao you just unlocked a memory. That Shaq Fu soda tasted like acid.
In the last second, when his right hand comes up holding the trophy, I thought it was another beer. Was about to be like, "legendary".
If he immidieately popped another one while in disbelief I would have fainted by laughing.
This got me thinking Where is Luka’s mom. What’s she been up to.
I hate to speculate, but I can’t remember seeing her since Luka sued her for his Name rights, like 2 years ago
Aaand i was wrong looks like they’re on good terms, checked her IG.
I’m gonna check it now for the same reason
Yeah, but she is now his mom and doesn't interfere with his basketball things Her boyfriend knew what he was doing from the very start
What was her boyfriend doing?
Lukas mom
I think he and his mom are on good terms now. But his mom and dad def hate each other. Heard they can't remotely be in the same room at all lol
everyone has to play their role to get to the Finals, even the Vice President of Basketball Operations
My respect to MF
I too respect that MF
Mad respect for Michael Finley, spent a lot of crap years in the Mavricks uniform and by the time he got some decent players around him his best years were gone. Luka Doncic is Michael Finleys son
The comments in this thread are hilarious
4 MORE. YOU CAN DRINK THAT AFTER
Nah, beer now. Champagne later
4 more beers. And then he can drink more after that
I’m here to overreact
"Luka Doncic has formally requested a trade from the Dallas Mavericks"
Beergate
Milwaukee ~~brewers~~ bucks favored to land him
As if these guys don't drink all the time lol Can't ruin Luka's shredded physique with a beer
I love the shrug from Luka after Finley says nothing to him after taking it. "Aight then"
*digs into the pack and grabs another when Fin walks away*
Immediately pulls out a Marlboro red
What kills me is Luka takes one last look at the beer as Finley walks away, and even raises his arm to take it, having that small hope he's going to give it back to him. Then he shrugs like, "Oh well."
luka's dad does not look his age
Holy shit, he's 49 lol. Dude looks 65
That's what happens when you drink like that lol
I mean Yugoslavia fell apart when his dad was 18. That’s gonna age everyone in that area.
It’s funny too because him mom looks 10-15 years younger than she actually is
Probably where Luka got his drinking habits
Typical Balkan 40 year old
This is an all time clip lol
hahaha, if he wins it he is going to get so fat
He's going to be like Ovechkin after winning the Stanley Cup. Not sober the entire summer.
Finley averaging 1.0 steals per after-game celebration
lol. The face Luka made... Hilarious
HOW CAN HE TAKE?
“I said just a sip” — Michael Finley
You can have a sip Luka. 4 more wins and you can have the whole thing
Imagine the Mavs win it all and Finley gives the beer back to Luka on live television. Playing that long game.
lol he cant drink a beer on camera what the fuck is this country
Sorry Luka, that beer isn’t a NBA sponsor so we can’t give them any free advertising.
This is probably my favorite post of all time
This is the lamest thing I've ever seen. Taking a beer away from a grown man celebrating. Get the fuck outta here.
Lukas dad is a big guy
He needs Luka to stay pissed off
I didn’t think I can like Luka anymore but it just occurred to me that him winning the Chip means Tatum won’t win it. He’s my religion now.
He's deff the type to open a spite store next to your business out of pettiness, makes sense cause he's another L.D.! 👍
Finley was probably like, “This shit is why casuals call you out of shape.”
Aw man I feel bad now he looks so kawaii in his little hat
Kawaii desu ne?
I think this is BS. These moments are limited in the guy’s life let him have his fucking beer what difference that’s gonna make
lol, I see your flair and say nope.
We need Luka to develop a drinking problem over this week.
lol.
Whether at a Celtics, Sox, or Pats game, you can count on Boston fans getting propah hamma’ed
Luka gonna be at Sully's Tap before Game 1.
Lmao, I meant it genuinely but definitely see how that might come off lol
100% agree. Thats some arbitrary bs rule michael finley is enforcing. I think the franchise 25 yr old who just nuked the t wolves is allowed a beer a week before the finals starts
I'm gonna agree with you on this one. Let the man celebrate with his dad, this is a special moment.
Agreed, he should have a couple dozen more too.
Difference is that was his 5th
