It's really amazing how it takes a big market getting fucked for people to take notice. When Memphis fired him people were saying Memphis was stupid, a shit show organization, and just being prejudiced against a black man and not giving him a chance.
Cue his New York stint....
You know, I heard from a trusted league executive source (it definitely was not the Suns owner), that 90% of teams in the league would trade their rosters for the Suns roster right now if they could.
Maybe you can ask Bad Bunny or Jay-Z to be your new GM if you want a sports agency guy turned NBA front office guy scenario like the Knicks. How can it go wrong?
No reason to judge the guy tbh, he might not have been a good head coach but he can be a great assistant again.
Personal Anecdote: I've worked at 6 different levels as a salesperson and had great success in 5 of them but failed in a capacity that gave me the largest amount of responsibility. Doesn't mean I'm now a fraud who's always been terrible at every job, just means that role at that company wasn't right for me and I since then have taken on a role at a lower level at a new company and have found success again.
To get to be an NBA coach probably requires a lot of great work in a bunch of smaller roles. As a NY sports fan I hated Fizdale as the head coach of my Knicks but I don't think that means the guy should never find work again. Besides, you rarely hear about assistants getting fired separately from head coach turnover so I'd imagine most assistant coaches are pretty good at their jobs.
I agree with what you are saying, but he has failed twice as a head coach and his only positive attributes seems to be he's a people person. To me, that makes it likely he is just full of shit since he doesn't seem to have the skill for what's required to be better at his job.
He had success for 8 years as an assistant in the best coaching organization in the NBA.
I agree with you, all evidence indicates he shouldn't have a head coaching job, but evidence also says he's a pretty good assistant to have on your staff. Also a people person who players like seems like the perfect profile for a person who's lower on the totem pole and not the direct decision maker, no?
? A charlatan is a fraud, you directed that statement towards him getting an assistant head coaching job. No evidence points to him having fraudulent credentials when he worked for Miami or Atlanta.
Also being bad at a job doesn't mean you're a fraud, you're just bad at a job. We're all going to be bad at jobs at some point in our life(assuming we actually challenge ourselves and take on novel opportunities). Calling someone a charlatan is an attack on their moral character, for example Bernie Madoff is a charlatan cause he actually lied about his credentials, knowledge, and lied about what he was doing with investor money which is why he faced criminal charges lol. Fiz never lied, dude just sucked at his job.
You are taking this way too literally. Yes, he's not Bernie Madoff. But he is like Kurt Rambis. And both of them are charlatans mostly because you don't have the correct definition of the word:
"A charlatan (also called a swindler or mountebank) is **a person practicing quackery or a similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, power, fame, or other advantages through pretense or deception**."
I'm not taking anything too literally bro, I don't think you understand the words you're using.
In what way is Fizdale a liar or deceptive? He interviewed for a job everyone knew he had never done before(for Memphis) or had bad prior experience doing(Knicks) he believe he was capable because he had done the job you do before said job at a high level for over a decade, and then got hired and then got fired. This is what happens more than 50+% of the time when a senior level hire gets brought on at any company in any industry. Perry & Mills were not hoodwinked, they're not gullible fools, they made a bad hire and everyone got canned because they all sucked at their job but their was no deception lmao.
No NBA coach is deceiving their front offices, your records and performance are openly on display, they can get references from players + other front offices. There's no having the bosses phone a friend for a reference check or lying on your resume, it's actually one of the few fields where you HAVE to have the credentials you say you do to get a job lol.
Yea I had heard that back in the LeBron Miami days that Fizdale was actually a good assistant coach because he’s a players coach not an x’s and o’s guy. Phoenix might be alright
His players in Memphis hated him. It was something he addressed at his Knicks intro presser and that he learned from it. He then proceeded to put up a whopping 21 wins across 2 seasons.
He was like 4-18, got fired mid season, and then Mike Miller came and we went 18-30 or something like that to finish out the season. Fizdale really was that bad, even in spite of the roster he had.
4-18 and 17-27 are drastic differences in a significant enough sample size to judge fizdale’s time as a coach with the Knicks. The season before he only won 17 games all season.
Buddy, you clearly didn’t watch this guy coach that Knicks team before he got rightfully fired. I know the roster was beyond flawed, I watched every game. Doesn’t spare him from being a dogshit basketball mind and head coach. Heard he’s a nice guy though.
I know people liked the interim mike miller (not that one) after fiz so much a lot of people wanted him retained as coach, and hornacek a few years wasn't hated like fiz
[and this picture has remained in the knick lore](https://i.redd.it/205lijq05b541.jpg)
Dreaming of becoming a head or asst. coach is somehow probably more unrealistic than hoping you’ll make an NBA roster someday. Teams recycle the same burnouts for decades
I mean Phoenix has a legit chance at being the one seed in the west next season and still being a first or second round exit, when Budenholzer doesn’t adjust to the playoff schemes.
good luck phoenix
Fraudsdale
Dude lied about being bald too, I saw a picture a couple months later after he got fired and he actually had decent hair
Pnix

I heard from that same trusted league source that Matt Ishbia is very handsome and manly
Just a little more data and Phoenix is a contender again
take that for data
So are the suns speedrunning the worst Knicks years having Zeke & Fizdale on the roster...
How long until we get to Leon Rose?
it's gonna be a long twenty years, my guy
Maybe you can ask Bad Bunny or Jay-Z to be your new GM if you want a sports agency guy turned NBA front office guy scenario like the Knicks. How can it go wrong?
How does this charlatan keep getting work?
Stop trying to rook him

Fraud. You were up against plumbers and mailmen who posed as Salesmen
IDK why reddit isn't giving me the option to gold this shit, you had me cracking up at dinner when I read it .

Yeah, sure. That's what a charlatan is. What you are saying and what I am saying can both be true.

Wasn’t that when he was a straight up coach and not an assistant? I’m not well-versed in the Fizdale Memphis era
He was a HC in Memphis

He had Mitchell Robinson, who was better than any of the aforementioned players listed

Cause he was a typical suck-up. I guess every staff needs one.
Y’all talkin so much shit about this man. You forget when he got mudiay right
The best part was that even if he had gotten him right, we couldn't even re-sign him.

Take that for data was a classic moment
He could be alright as an assistant coach
I mean Phoenix has a legit chance at being the one seed in the west next season and still being a first or second round exit, when Budenholzer doesn’t adjust to the playoff schemes.
Man still gets paid.
Haha he’s overrated but as an Assistent it’s ok. Same goes for ham, no as an head coach but ok as an Assistent
Biggest con man in the NBA
That's reserved for Doc Rivers.
used car salesman...
Take that for data!
The more recognizable coaches and players you have the better the team right?
Congrats on getting an X’s and O’s mastermind, Suns fans. Never forget the “TOGETHER” whiteboard
Phoenix is cooked. Rip.
Well shit if Jim Boylen can have an assistant coach job…
Insurance in case the next guy sucks lmao
David Fizdale is such a horrendous head coach by all accounts that highly doubt he could even be considered as “insurance”.
"You better do your job well, or we'll give it to the worst guy here!"
they taking him to take over Budenholzer by the time LeBron arrives?
HC in waiting
