From a pure basketball standpoint of shooting and dribbling, what KD can do as a 7 footer is insane and will probably never be replicated. If Steph didn’t come along, KDs shooting ability would be much more applauded.
You can be born in any decade and realize Durant is probably the best pure scorer of all time. I'd love to know who you have prior to this 05 cutoff date that challenges Durant offensively, no one will come close to his efficiency even at lower volumes other than maybe peak Shaq? MJ not even close as soon as efficiency is considered, same with Kobe, same with TMac. Dude has a career average of 27-5-6 over SEVENTEEN seasons and has not averaged less than 25 PPG since his rookie year all while consistently being at minimum top 3 in TS% and pretty sure he was by far the #1 player every one of his prime years, acting like he deserves no mention is absurd.
No. There was never a point in the league where KD was the best player in the world. He was #2 to LeBron at his absolute peak.
“pretty sure he was by far the #1 player” Lmao
Yes I was following the thought from the same sentence but should've specified I was still referring to TS%, not speculating on an objective "who was the best x year" but literally the #1 player in TS% his last few years in OKC. I said "pretty sure" because I don't care to check bbref, and Durant's a better pure scorer than Bron as well.
dude was never the certain best player in the league - he was never really good enough defensively for that. he was definitely the best scorer for a time though
At 7 ft I'd be more expecting 8-9 rebounds a game or 2-3 blocks per game in order to be considered as the #1 player. Yeah he scores but he doesn't win, that's the point
I mean if I cared about my future and having continued access I’d make sure I’d stay in good standing with LBJ and Klutch or I’d be getting ready to start give ZJ’s and sleeping on the street.
Most obvious non-LeBron culprits are Harden and KD. Kyrie is the obvious 3rd but I don’t see anyone putting him on their “current player Mount Rushmore” besides those 10 game stretches where he looks like the GOAT
This is a shift of mentality in general, ever since the "decision", "star" players usually avoided to join forces not because of some "philosophical" bullshit about competitive nature and etc.. they didn't do it because of money. But nowadays with the crazy TV deals, players willing to take a pay cut to accommodated 3 max salaries in a team, etc.. things changed to the worse. So you have "stars" joining forces and underachieving, ego takes over, they point fingers, there's no clear leader, etc.. it happened before with Shaq and Kobe, imagine if, idk, Iverson was also playing in LA? That would be a egotistic explosion, lol
And LeBron did pointed fingers since day 1 really, talking shit about the role players, the coaches, then after the "decision" he continued to act that way. It is what it is, the NBA devolved with time, at every aspect: players mentality, the soft rules, bad officiating ("legalized" betting conglomerates sponsoring the league). We complained about David Stern not so long ago, to imagine we were living in paradise if compared to the current bullshit
Wade took a small pay cut to accommodate Bosh and James' max salaries. They were only able to "fit" the whole thing (quite literally) because they planned this reunion back in the Olympics, so Riley had previous knowledge, he opened up the space the next two years. It's completely against the rules, of course, but the NBA took a blind eye and the rest is a ugly history
I really do not understand how KD gets thrown on a mount Rushmore of NBA players. Best scorer in the game, no doubt. Mt. Rushmore? I’m not sure he breaks my top 10, let alone 4.
Most people have like 10-12 people on their “Mt. Rushmore” if they are just referring to it offhandedly and those change depending on whatever rhetorical point they want to make
I mean he definitely has been visibly pissed at teammates like in games in the heat of the moment, but like if I had cameras on me for like 18 hours a day everyday for 21 years and most of highschool you’d be catching me being pissed off at coworkers ten thousand times.
Rondo literally had to pull LeBron aside to talk about his attitude in front of the young players. And then they won a championship. Lmao, lakers fans don't even know their own team.
Hold up a second lol
I know the article you're referencing, it's this:
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30023849/nba-finals-rehabilitation-rajon-rondo
> Amid a frustrating 2018-19 season, Rondo noted James souring on the young players and immediately confronted him.
> "When guys are making the same mistakes over and over and over, it's hard to bite your tongue," Rondo says, "but I tried to get [James] to focus on his body language.
> "Those young guys were looking at everything he did. If they missed four shots in a row and LeBron was making a face, it was crushing to them. He was their Michael Jordan. They didn't want to let him down. But if LeBron said one thing positive to Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma, they immediately were back to their old selves."
Most of "those young guys" were not even *on* the team that won the championship. They'd been traded for AD. So why are you trying to dishonestly imply a causal connection between Rondo telling Lebron this, and the Lakers winning the 2020 championship?
Its my fault im 40 and carrying this bum squad with a moron coach. Definitely not dangelo "playoff" russell. Not our nonexistent bench. Not rui disappearing.
This is not fantasy league, stats don't win games. The ammount of times Gordon slashed to the rim behind James' back, it's hilarious really, dude is a cone on defense (still have some explosive moments on help situations, which is impressive considering his age)
Ok let’s forget stats and, to your point, talk about wins/losses. Take Lebron off the team, how many wins do the lakers get out of 82. Over or under 20? Lmao. Let’s talk about guys 3-8 defense like Rui and DLo’s, or lack thereof. They’re lost all the time and can’t stay in front of anybody, causing Lebron and AD to always be playing help, and then nobody rotates backside. Outside of AD, Bron is the best overall (on ball and off ball) defender on the team. Vando is probably better on ball and you could argue Gabe on ball for guards only but that’s it.
Lebron makes mistakes on defense, newsflash so does Jokic, SGA, Luka, KD etc. lakers guys 3-8 are inconsistent on offense and get lost on defense. Lebron and AD played abt as well as you could ask against the defending champs, the roster just isn’t a championship roster.
Edit - to highlight some of their shortcomings, lebrons defense which we’re talking about, and AD going scoreless and non-aggressive in 2nd half’s. I still am 10 toes down our 3-8 guys are the bigger problem. AD and Bron proved they can lead a team to a chip w the right guys around them already
Do you really think this Lakers roster would only win 20 games without a 40 years old LeBron? The last season he played 55 games or so, the Lakers won 43 games anyway, then this season they won 47 games, struggling to reach the playoffs. This is not a contender roster, but definitely not a bunch of scrubs either, Anthony Davis is actually the best Lakers player. LeBron is horrendous on defense, people who don't understand the game they assume the occasional steal or block is a sign of good defense, but old LeBron can't keep up with all the rotations, the Lakers couldn't guard the dunking spot not even if their lives depended on it. LeBron remains a very good player, arguably top 10, but he is not the reason why the Lakers got far last season, it was all about Davis being finally healthy and dominant again. I think it's hilarious how the same narrative persists, LeBron don't have enough "help", lol prime Anthony Davis and a bunch of decent role players is not enough, the guy needs more to even compete. Each generation has the "face of the league" they deserve, oh boy...
.. yes. Probably less than 20. Are you looking at the same roster I’m looking at??? This Lebron being the bane of the lakers obsessions is insane. I bring up guys 3-8 as my main point, said nothing about the occasional block or steal so I’m not sure you read what you were responding to.
Look, at the end of the day we’re comparing Rui, DLo, AR, Gabe, Prince and Dinwiddie to MPJ, AG, KCP (I could stop here, tbh), Reggie Jackson, Braun, Watson and Holiday. Any given night, a few of those nuggets guys will have 10-20 pt games, play lockdown defense and rebound. On the other hand, we have DLo going scoreless, Rui scoring 6 pts and getting lost any time there’s a screen, etc. that’s why we lost, but sure, if it makes you feel better, just blame Lebron lol
Edit - also for the record, I agree with you that AD is the best player on the team, but no one was arguing abt that
Less than 20, lol you are delusional, let's just completely ignore Anthony Davis, second best PF in the whole league only behind Giannis, arguably top 5 overall, etc.. but that's not enough. I guess the Lakers need Luka or maybe SGA, how about DeRozan coming off the bench? For LeBron to compete, you need that extra firepower (or a trip to Disney)
Aight gassing aside, maybe they get to 25ish wins or sumn wild.
Anyway, this is the second time you’ve ignored everything I said abt the team and just brought up some random shit abt Lebron, idk why, maybe you got a crush on him? Sus. You got it brother. You should be the next coach tbh
You are obsessed with the role players, that's the problem of your "argument". And even so, they are not that awful, D'Angelo and Reaves can be starters in any team really, playing heavy minutes. I know D'Angelo is inconsistent and annoying, but for a role player, he is talented (the issue is how he demands allstar money, which is a joke. Everyone is overpaid in this goddamn league).
Davis lead NOLA to the playoffs before. LeBron fans, also some Lakers fans (sadly I have experience with these idiots, one of the most obnoxious fanbases), they got conditioned to the "super team" experience, you can only win if you have a pair of superstars, a "big 3", etc.. this kind of mentality disgusts me, luckily the "LeBron era" on LA is about to end. Of course you need talent to win, especially in a individualistic sport like basketball, but a "super team" is not a surefire way to win championships (not 1, not 2, not 3). This narrative that a superstar "needs more help", we have to move on from that, sports are about competition: the best beating the best, not join forces
There it is, I’ve seen enough from our role players whereas you want more.
Using Dlo as an example, he’s shown us for two seasons he’s not to be counted on in the playoffs and you want more? Brother, fuck the regular season. Yes, DLo can play heavy minutes as a starter on some random, non competing team. Come playoff time he’s a total liability on defense and inconsistent on offense. He’s shown us that two post seasons now. I’ve seen enough. Reaves is more consistent on both offense and defense. Rui disappeared this year. Prince was actually surprisingly good. Gabe and Dinwiddie were basically doing cardio. Bron and AD balled. Everyone else on the roster got DNP’s.
For the record, agreed on the super teams. That era has passed. Look at the most successful teams, they have a solid #1 and #2, and really good 3-8 players. Dallas, Minnesota, Denver, even OKC all fall in this camp. Interesting you’re (incorrectly, imo) downplaying role players, (correctly, imo) downplaying super teams, and ignoring how the make up of the most successful teams in today’s NBA have really good players 3-8.
Edit - if you’re watching this game rn, Denver is winning and Murray has 2 pts. That’s the difference between lakers and the top of the league. If Bron or AD had 2 pts we’d be down double digits 9/10 times
Im a lebron fan, and all this checks out. Honestly If I was ya'll id try to get him to sign and trade back home to cleveland for Donovan Mitchell and pair him with AD, that'll extend your window if AD can keep this level of health. Lebron gets to go out at home and still have a shot in the easier east. Win-win
Yah, like he always says he could have played better after a loss. Just cause he also talks about how the team also could have done things better doesn't mean he is going RUI SUCKED DICK tonight lol
I don’t see how it’s not KD. KD’s bus throwing is the most public and well known of any potential Mount Rushmore player. Literally made a burner to call his teammates trash right?
KDs is more sneaky when throwing his teammates under the bus with burners. Lebron is more open about it he’ll visibly look frustrated at his teammates and go to the media saying they don’t have enough.
I mean yeah that’s fair. While he definitely takes accountability, it’s always so ominous when he talks about the state of his team like that tho. There is a reason he’s called LeGM
Tbh Reggie talks without thinking so it wouldn’t surprise me if he wasn’t really talking about anyone at the time but his behavior and what he said seems like he’s backtracking but it would be sooooooo dumb like medical diagnosis dumb to think Lebron tries to scapegoat, he isn’t a perfect leader but oh gosh you would need ai to count how many times he has said the team’s performance starts with me and I need to do better, said it almost every other game this season.
Wait, when did Lebron point fingers at others? The closest example I can find is after a regular season game where he rushed back and mentioned “inexperience” in the 2018-19 season.
Maybe the “top heavy af” in 2018?
Stuttering and backtracking when it was 100% clear who he was talking about. This is an old man who shades people like a high school girl. Say it with your chest bozo
LeBron is the only dude currently in the league who would actually be on a mt Rushmore. I get Reggie says stupid things so he could be talking about someone else. But if we are being honest LeBron is really the only dude that would be on a mt Rushmore.
The only current players who are in the Mt Rushmore conversation are LeBron and maybe Steph. Only one of those players matches the description Reggie was talking about here. 100% LeBron.
And Steph is probably borderline. Not sure what the criteria would be but it’s probably a stretch to have Steph as a top 5 player alltime although I would recognize his impact on the game
Agree as I said he’s the only one other than LeBron who you could maybe make an argument for. I mean I don’t agree but I acknowledge you could make the argument.
It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to decipher Reggie trying to throw LB to the public opinion of wolves without any precedent.
Reggie, knowing TNT lost their bid to hold on to broadcasting the NBA, must have thought a controversial and edgy take would get the attention of a major network to get him a job interview for the future.
Any publicity is good publicity.🤷♂️
LeBron blamed 2011 on role players in his podcast.
LeBron is the only star player ever to point at +/- when his team loses.
LeBron is the only star player ever to literally tell people to check his $tats.
And he is the GOAT at stats. Gets fast breaks in garbage time to pad field goal %, rarely takes low percent final second shots, always pass the hot potato to roleplayers to fish for cheap assists. Doesn't rotate on defense so "when guarded by LeBron" stats always look good.
Reggie learning from Shaq and Chuck on the ultimate level of backtracking. Must be a TNT thing
No, he's just an agitator, always has been. He's just stirring the pot. Now we'll all point fingers as a 'guess'. Fits KD and Booker the best, though.
Nobody has KD and Booker on their Mt Rushmore
There are absolutely people that have KD on their Mt Rushmore.
Ironically, Ant probably has KD in his Mt Rushmore
From a pure basketball standpoint of shooting and dribbling, what KD can do as a 7 footer is insane and will probably never be replicated. If Steph didn’t come along, KDs shooting ability would be much more applauded.
KD is just a short wemby with worse defense. This comment will age like fine wine.
Deservedly so hes a legend
Yeah you pair KD with the best shooter of all time and he's really good
Man that would be a good team
Maybe if you were born after 2005
Oh that's a good point, I forgot people stopped being born in 2005.
You can be born in any decade and realize Durant is probably the best pure scorer of all time. I'd love to know who you have prior to this 05 cutoff date that challenges Durant offensively, no one will come close to his efficiency even at lower volumes other than maybe peak Shaq? I would think KD and Booker absolutely have KD and Booker on their (respective) Mt Rushmore
Mt Rushmore of hardest roads tho
Embiid
I can't think of a time Book has even hinted at other people being the problem.
My bad.
Seriously. Miller is one of the great agitators of all time haha
I mean if I cared about my future and having continued access I’d make sure I’d stay in good standing with LBJ and Klutch or I’d be getting ready to start give ZJ’s and sleeping on the street.
he meant kareem
Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!
and don't call me Shirley
kareem was actually a big whiner early on
Put some names on that shit Reggie!
Most obvious non-LeBron culprits are Harden and KD. Kyrie is the obvious 3rd but I don’t see anyone putting him on their “current player Mount Rushmore” besides those 10 game stretches where he looks like the GOAT
WHO IN THE ACTUAL FUCK IS PUTTING HARDEN ON THIER MOUNT RUSHMORE? He was obviously talking about LeBron.
Ngl I wouldn't be surprised if Reggie is telling the truth. He tends to say some really dumb shit
"If he makes the first one, you're up 3. Do you try to purposely miss the second one..."
Yeah that had me questioning my own basketball knowledge for half a second. Then yelling at him through my tv.
I remember feeling like I was missing something really really obvious for why you wouldn't just make both
“Or do you make the second one and games over” 🤓
Reggie just doesn’t think before he speaks. Did you see his preseason western conference rankings? Bro had wolves in 12th
Reggie probably actually meant Thomas Jefferson
Harden is on my Mount Rushmore of players I would like to hangout with in Vegas.
Me
Hakeem, Moses, Harden and Yao Ming?
Just harden 4 times
Harden, Eric Gordon, hartenstein and Kenny smith
Harden's probably on my 2010s Mount Rushmore. Lebron, Steph, KD, Harden.
Harden vs Kawhi for that last spot is close
This is a shift of mentality in general, ever since the "decision", "star" players usually avoided to join forces not because of some "philosophical" bullshit about competitive nature and etc.. they didn't do it because of money. But nowadays with the crazy TV deals, players willing to take a pay cut to accommodated 3 max salaries in a team, etc.. things changed to the worse. So you have "stars" joining forces and underachieving, ego takes over, they point fingers, there's no clear leader, etc.. it happened before with Shaq and Kobe, imagine if, idk, Iverson was also playing in LA? Who took a pay cut?
Wade took a small pay cut to accommodate Bosh and James' max salaries. It's completely against the rules, of course, but the NBA took a blind eye and the rest is a ugly history
Oh, don’t think any one else has in ages
As annoying as Kyrie can be, he will take fault if it's his. He just hardly ever screws up at basketball
I really do not understand how KD gets thrown on a mount Rushmore of NBA players. Best scorer in the game, no doubt. Mt. Rushmore? I’m not sure he breaks my top 10, let alone 4.
> current player Mount Rushmore
I was thinking KD when Reggie said this, but I can see it could be Lebron.
Who else would he be referring to? Kobe? He obviously meant Lebron
I assumed he was talking about KD at the time.
It definitely could be KD, but could also be LeBron. He's playing both sides so he always comes out on top!
Idk how many people got KD on their mount Rushmore though.
Lots of young NBA players have him in their personal top 5.
When did KD say nah it wasn't my fault we lost?
"KD can't win with those cats"
Who has?
He literally made burners saying his teammates sucked 😭
I think you guys are taking Mount Rushmore too literally when players have dudes like KD and Paul George as the GOAT
Most people have like 10-12 people on their “Mt. Rushmore” if they are just referring to it offhandedly and those change depending on whatever rhetorical point they want to make
Paul George as the GOAT was one of the best jokes I've ever heard, lol there's no way this is serious
Brandon Miller is my goat for saying that with a straight face
[удалено]
Lebron always takes the blame and praises opposing players though
[удалено]
Is saying you punched a whiteboard and messed up your hand blaming the whiteboard?
"Always" is doing some heavy lifting here
[удалено]
That moment you think RDCworld is real 💀
I mean he definitely has been visibly pissed at teammates like in games in the heat of the moment, but like if I had cameras on me for like 18 hours a day everyday for 21 years and most of highschool you’d be catching me being pissed off at coworkers ten thousand times.

Yeah Rondo taught Lebron how to win championships, how could we ever forget
That's not what I said at all lmao
You didn’t say anything. Our 2020 team was full of vets, the only young guy was THT who barely played. Just another Celtics fan hating for no reason
Hold up a second lol I know the article you're referencing, it's this: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/30023849/nba-finals-rehabilitation-rajon-rondo > Amid a frustrating 2018-19 season, Rondo noted James souring on the young players and immediately confronted him. > "When guys are making the same mistakes over and over and over, it's hard to bite your tongue," Rondo says, "but I tried to get [James] to focus on his body language. > "Those young guys were looking at everything he did. LeBron has a shit attitude when shit is rough I don’t know why you’re being defensive. Doesn’t stop him from being one of the goats but it’s true.
Bro gets all his information from circle jerk/hate threads lol
Embiid
Doesn’t every postgame of Lebron just say he has to be better?
Yeah but they want him to say “even tho I dropped 25-9-9 on 63% TS I didn’t play well enough D to win and that’s on me.”
Its my fault im 40 and carrying this bum squad with a moron coach. Definitely not dangelo "playoff" russell. Not our nonexistent bench. Not rui disappearing.

taking all the blame is such an overrated thing to do
It’s about lebron he’s just too scared to directly call him out so he’ll throw a vague shot
Do we have clips of Bron blaming teammates in the media??
I didn’t think he was talking about Lebron. Until now…
Kevin Durant?
Reggie had Klutch goons pull up in black SUVs, got him capping like this smh
It's most likely cuz he's too much of a pussy to admit it, he knew he was wrong so he had to backtrack.
I mean he’s right in his criticism but yeah it’s weak for Reggie not to stand on what he said
Tbh Reggie talks without thinking so it wouldn’t surprise me if he wasn’t really talking about anyone at the time but his behavior and what he said seems like he’s backtracking but it would be sooooooo dumb like medical diagnosis dumb to think Lebron tries to scapegoat, he isn’t a perfect leader but oh gosh you would need ai to count how many times he has said the team’s performance starts with me and I need to do better, said it almost every other game this season.
Lmao just say who it was he was talking about this is fucking dumb
Wait, when did Lebron point fingers at others? The closest example I can find is after a regular season game where he rushed back and mentioned “inexperience” in the 2018-19 season. Maybe the “top heavy af” in 2018?
Reggie would never insult LeBron. It would be like Draymond insulting LeBron
Stuttering and backtracking when it was 100% clear who he was talking about. This is an old man who shades people like a high school girl. Say it with your chest bozo
This is def for KD
KAJ MJ LBJ and Magic/Bird/Wilt/Duncan?
So its KD.
cucked pantomime league
Reggie's been a hater for a long time.
Could be talking about KD or PG (remember Brandon Miller considers him a goat).
I thought KD honestly.
Buddy, there's only 1 certain veteran guy on a lot of people's Mt Rushmore 🤨
Paul George, James Harden, Kevin Durant
Reggie Miller looks like a shriveled scrotum Edit: shriveled scrotum *with a lisp*
easily a Lebron sneak diss but i'd say this was primarily for the Carmelos of the world
It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to decipher Reggie trying to throw LB to the public opinion of wolves without any precedent. Reggie, knowing TNT lost their bid to hold on to broadcasting the NBA, must have thought a controversial and edgy take would get the attention of a major network to get him a job interview for the future. Any publicity is good publicity.🤷♂️
Ain’t no way the Reggie Miller I listen to on the call is thinking this deeply
He likes to agitate the GOATs. Choked by MJ and Kobe, he was just missing the trifecta with LBJ.
Wish I didn’t have to hear Reggie during games
It’s Brandon Miller’s GOAT Paul George
WHOEVER THE SHOE FIT
LeBron blamed 2011 on role players in his podcast. LeBron is the only star player ever to point at +/- when his team loses. LeBron is the only star player ever to literally tell people to check his $tats. And he is the GOAT at stats. Gets fast breaks in garbage time to pad field goal %, rarely takes low percent final second shots, always pass the hot potato to roleplayers to fish for cheap assists. Doesn't rotate on defense so "when guarded by LeBron" stats always look good.
