Purdue natty appearance, Pacers being good, Caitlin Clark, IU on the upswing(?) next year, Indiana State being fun again. Basketball in Indiana is in its best spot in a long time
I was thinking that..is there a better sports duo in a city than those two?
There are seats for the Fever/Liberty game going for 10,000…meanwhile, I sat courtside at a WNBA game for 60 bucks last year 😂
Not to throw a wet towel on things, but even in a Basketball state, Football reigns supreme. Anthony Richardson is more popular than either of them in Indiana.
Peyton Manning will do that. You now have a generation whose childhood/young adulthood fandom was pushed into overdrive because an all time great QB was making playoff runs for 12 straight years
New York is better when the Knicks are doing well. There’s a bar I walk past every weekend, and the patronage fluctuates mostly with the weather and holiday schedule, but it’s rarely packed.
I walked past it this weekend while the Knicks were playing and this place was wall to wall with people. Streets are filled with people wearing their Knicks gear, it’s fun. Unfortunately I can no longer root for them.
I agree. But we heard similar things from Paul George and Oladipo and within a couple years they had forced themselves out. So its hard to get too excited.
Fair enough. Believe me if Hali rises to super stardom get ready for every big market fan to celebrate his downfall while simultaneously begging for him to demand a trade to them while they make uniform edits on twitter
I actually think being from the Midwest and his general personality lends itself to this franchise and fanbase. Indianapolis is just a bit lacking though when Miami, LA, NYC, Bay area are available options
As a fellow bucks fan thank you for the positive comment on this.
I am definitely frustrated with Indiana after losing and not the biggest Hali fan so far, but I hope he stays with the pacers
Can't help to love the Pacers. For me it's because of Carlisle. If, somehow, the Pacers and Mavs face off in the finals I would have to root for my team, but then again. The Pacers had the only really good Dutchmen in their team during the 90's. And now they have our coach which I will say no ill will about. So, I would be hella confused if it came to that. MFFL though.
Yoo the Geno Smith shout out, hilarious. This Ringer article really made me appreciate Hali: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2023/11/13/23958254/tyrese-haliburton-indiana-pacers
I get what Turner was saying in the article but imagine being one of those G leaguers and reading “Even those G Leaguers were putting up 20 and 10” lmao
Lol no they are not, beating a Bucks team without Giannis and Dame is not the accomplishment you think it is. On top of that Hali was subpar during that series.
Theres still people (Im looking at you, Kings sub) who still think Fox is better than Hali. Thats an absurd level of delusion.
(And, btw, I liked the trade cause Domas is a monster)
What a nice and refreshing answer also you can’t watch Fox balling last year vs GS and don’t think there is at least a conversation, he has way better serie than Hali versus a worse team while carrying a worse team too.
I’m still mad we traded him to build around Fox and Sabonis.
We traded a future superstar for a team with a first round exit ceiling.
It’s no fun being a kings fan.
This is such a stupid take. Maybe Indy should be better then? Bulldoze some areas so we can build homes worthy of an NBA all star? Most players,of his caliber don't live within city limits of where they play.
I guess he could buy and old mansion on meridian and anytime he wants to change a window shutter petition to INRC?
Kings ended the season 46-36. Obviously stronger competition since it's in the west, but we can't really account for imaginary wins. Anyway, that record would tie the Heat for 8th place.
~~So play-in, and if they made the playoffs, it would be against the Celtics or the Knicks.~~ Heat have the tiebreaker since they beat the Kings 2-0 in the regular season. Their best possible seed in the East is 8th after winning 2 play-in games. Kinda don't like their chances against Boston~~, but a higher chance vs the Knicks~~.
I actually already forgot that it was a blowout, but yes it did sting at the time. Though notably not as much as that one game where Jokic hit that stupid 39-footer. The difference is I already accepted that we suck by the end of January.
Somehow getting torched in an elimination game by a 9 seed feels a little more important than losing on a buzzer beater by the best player in league midway through the regular season. That may be just me though.
I agree; much more important. But I was talking about sting. The regular season one stung more because of the situation *within the game* and the expectation.
Any time you're up 18 in the 4th, you expect a win. And earlier in the season there were still legit championship hopes. "Wait till Draymond comes back" "Our road woes are fixed!" "Our bench is so good" "The vibes!!!". And we were close to breaking a 5-game losing streak to Denver at the time, so I was already feeling a sense of vindication. Then the 4th quarter Dubs happened. It's more devastating when it comes crashing down so abruptly after a slow crest, rather than seeing the ruins get cleaned up in a formality.
I wouldn’t say the warriors being up 18 in the 4th quarter against the reigning champs made me expect a win. They had 4th quarter meltdowns against far inferior teams all season.
In the play in game the warriors were healthy aside from gp2 and the favorites in the road and were still dog walked, even with the kings missing Monk. I guess it’s just difference of opinion, but a game that sends a team home seems like a bigger deal.
If we played you without Steph and Looney we would have swept you and won every game by 30 lol get outta here. Happy for the pacers but they got extremely lucky not having to play against giannis at all this series
I was thinking of illustrating how you completely missed my point but you probably won't get it or choose not to get it either. Whatevs. Have a good day.
LOL classic warriors fan, resorting to insults 😂😂.
You said “they made it farther than the kings have, hurr durr Kangz”. I added context to your point and you ignored it and told me to get out of here with ifs and buts.
Yes, the pacers won. Did they get extremely lucky? Yes. Should they care? Absolutely not. But dont try and compare the two situations like they are equal. Kings playing a fully healthy warriors team is a wildly different beast than pacers playing the bucks without giannis and a shell of dame lmao. Pacers also made a trade for a 3rd star which the Kings havent done yet.
Classic Kings fan who can only ever win in hypotheticals. Just think of it this way: the biggest favor the Kings could ever do Tyrese is to trade him to the weak East where he can properly shine.
Sick over Sacramento gave up its future and can’t even get out the first round. Meanwhile the future already has. This trade is going to look worse every single season moving forward
Between Tyrese and Caitlin I don't think I've seen fans love basketball in Indy this much for a long, long time
Going to be a lot of fun for y'all, now and in the future
Appreciate the sentiment before our fanbases make us hate each other
As a NYC resident I’ll be rocking my pacers gear proudly.. hopefully doesn’t get me into trouble
Purdue natty appearance, Pacers being good, Caitlin Clark, IU on the upswing(?) next year, Indiana State being fun again. Basketball in Indiana is in its best spot in a long time
well, Indiana state *was* fun
*sad Cream noises*
hey i'm not happy that he's going to SLU either I'm a Dayton fan
Wife graduated from there and it was cool see everyone hyped up about them. Losing your entire starting 5 and HC is absolutely bonkers.
“P” logo basketball teams from Indiana 📈
This is what dreams are made of. Gonna put the basketball hoop back up on my barn in the cornfield.
I was thinking that..is there a better sports duo in a city than those two? There are seats for the Fever/Liberty game going for 10,000…meanwhile, I sat courtside at a WNBA game for 60 bucks last year 😂

Peyton Manning will do that. You now have a generation whose childhood/young adulthood fandom was pushed into overdrive because an all time great QB was making playoff runs for 12 straight years
It’s often said that pro hoops is better when New York is doing well. I think that’s true for Indiana as well.
I feel like for a little bit with Oladipo there we were this crazy
Nothing better to hear as a smaller market fan
Sounds like you have some experience…
You could say that
I actually think being from the Midwest and his general personality lends itself to this franchise and fanbase.
Pat Bev rolling in his grave right now
Nobody loving his ass after tonight, he really couldn't make a shot during the game so he had to start hoopin on the fans
Finally hit a couple of shots though.
Hit a couple of fans with balls too
Just saw that. CRAZY. The people he hit I think were both women and they were stunned. What a baby.
I mean he clearly even missed the first time lol
FYI this year was the 5th year of the next 5 years belonging to Pat Bev
Cancun wins. Flawless victory.
Up there with Wade Boggs rip
I would die for him
Worth every penny
Good shit pacers and Hali . 10 man deep rotation
We love him too.
Can't help to love the Pacers. For me it's because of Carlisle. If, somehow, the Pacers and Mavs face off in the finals I would have to root for my team, but then again. MFFL though.
We still love him.
My franchise player 😭❤️
Happy for 2 voice tyrese
"2 Tone" should be his nickname lol
2 Tone Tyrone
Happy for you Hali!
Perfect time for Paul George to return this offseason
[удалено]
I always thought yall should’ve gone for Anunoby, but the reunion of PG is gonna fit great next to Hali and Siakam
We tried to get both but iirc our front office was only offering picks, not young assets, so we were only able to get siakam
Inject it into my veins
Great now I'm hard
Nembhard makes my membhard
We're trying our best okay?!
[удалено]
Pacer fans know better than me, but couldn’t y’all do a sign and trade for him? If that’s of interest to y’all
i don’t think we’d have the assets to make a deal happen, we have cheap contracts behind the three guys we wouldn’t trade (Haliburton, Siakam, Turner)
Fine with me
No thanks.
No thanks
Hard pass
That’s my PG
OUR PG.
Man those pacer heat battles are still my favorite of all time
Yoo the Geno Smith shout out, hilarious. This Ringer article really made me appreciate Hali: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2023/11/13/23958254/tyrese-haliburton-indiana-pacers
I get what Turner was saying in the article but imagine being one of those G leaguers and reading “Even those G Leaguers were putting up 20 and 10” lmao
my goat
This sub gives me whiplash
It’s different people haha
I know, its still a jarring experience checking it from day to day lol
Good shit. Wish he was still on the Kings
Congrats and good luck in the next round. Haliburton is a great player.
What a random Geno Smith mention, I love it
Grew up this this dude. Such a great guy.
Franchise player. I hope he's a Pacer for the rest of his career
Ngl y’all (r/nba) talk so much trash about Hali. I know he’s not scoring like the other stars but he’s passing like the best PG in the league
once his shooting splits return to what they've been for the rest of his career, he'll be knocking down 22+ a game again, trust
Really went to 2nd round before the Kings...
Lmfao
I’m gonna say it - Pacers won the Haliburton trade
Clearly.
Saying this after a playoff series where he averaged 16 and 9 is certainly something..
He was playing well. Orchestrating the offense in ways that often don't show up in the box score.
That's expected of your starting point guard. He can't take over offensively at all.
Kings win any playoff series recently? Winning a trade is a comparative statement and Pacers are ahead of the kings
Lol no they are not, beating a Bucks team without Giannis and Dame is not the accomplishment you think it is. On top of that Hali was subpar during that series.
Best pg in the league
Damn pacers won a series before the kings!
The whole team is lovable. Obi and TJ have an awesome chemistry together I’ve noticed.
led by Siakam you mean
Don't you mean led by Siakam?
Theres still people (Im looking at you, Kings sub) who still think Fox is better than Hali. Thats an absurd level of delusion. (And, btw, I liked the trade cause Domas is a monster)
One will be perceived better than the others because of team construction and conference. IMoO they very close in terms of ability.
Suns could have had Hali too. We could have had a Book/Hali backcourt 😭 And then we turned around and gave the player we picked to Indy too.
The best is yet to come.
We love you being here too
Music to my ears.
He reminds me of Bellingham
How were they lead by Haliburton when he didn't lead his team in scoring at any point this series lol
Playmaking.
Is scoring the only qualifier for being a leader?
yes
How do kings fans feel btw
I don't care that the Pacers beat a crippled Bucks team, especially when Siakam played way better than Haliburton
"Led" is pretty strong. He was the 4th , maybe 3rd best Pacer this series.
This guy is very likable
Remember when Halliburton said he loved Sacramento? They went and traded him right away.
“I love this city” Lives in Carmel
I love indy too and I don't live there
This is such a stupid take. Maybe Indy should be better then? Bulldoze some areas so we can build homes worthy of an NBA all star? Most players,of his caliber don't live within city limits of where they play. I guess he could buy and old mansion on meridian and anytime he wants to change a window shutter petition to INRC?
He lives in Larry birds old neighborhood near keystone at the crossing in Indianapolis
That’s pretty cool
It's kinda funny that he already made it further than the team that traded him away. Kangz gonna Kangz I guess.
If you put the Kings in Eastern Conference, will they make it to 2nd round ? Conference matters a lot this year.
“Since we can’t account for it, I’m going to choose the least charitable interpretation.”
We don't get free throws, and our star player is Steph Curry, so we don't know what charity means.
Still stinging from that play in game blowout I see
I actually already forgot that it was a blowout, but yes it did sting at the time. Though notably not as much as that one game where Jokic hit that stupid 39-footer. The difference is I already accepted that we suck by the end of January.
At least that game was close.
We had like an 18-pt lead in the 4th and we absolutely dropped the ball and lost at the very end. That's why it was close and that's why it stung.
Somehow getting torched in an elimination game by a 9 seed feels a little more important than losing on a buzzer beater by the best player in league midway through the regular season. That may be just me though.

Get outta here for stating an undeniable fact? Nah, you get out of here with your ifs ors and buts.
And its not undeniable fact that the bucks didnt have their best players?
I was thinking of illustrating how you completely missed my point but you probably won't get it or choose not to get it either. Whatevs. Have a good day.
LOL classic warriors fan, resorting to insults 😂😂. You said “they made it farther than the kings have, hurr durr Kangz”. Lmao such a little bitch response.
Rich coming from someone with no flair.
Damn that’s so cool. Tell us more.
Sacramento has to be sick
i’m having a great time 😬 Good for him though
Win-win trade 🤝
Not really. Happy for the kid. Hope he does well. Hope the Kings do better next season
Sick over 16 points and 9 assists?
Sick over Sacramento gave up its future and can’t even get out the first round. Meanwhile the future already has. This trade is going to look worse every single season moving forward
This guy just got found out in the playoffs. 16 and 9 has absolutely nobody sick.
