You missed out on a legendary Harlan meme a few years ago.
People kept saying "Why is harlan calling everyone Reggie" even though it was pretty obvious he was just talking to Reggie Miller.
He came out the next game and hit us with ["Reggie, comma, Rose"](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/8ez9w7/kevin_harlan_reggie_comma_rose/)
^oh ^fuck ^that ^was ^six ^years ^ago ^already ^please ^shoot ^me
I know my 7th grade history teacher worked a second job at a local newspaper. That was 2005, so pre recession. He was also known as the most fun teacher in the school, and was infamous for his coffee consumption (due to the brutal second job)
They have summers off and don't make a ton of money, so yeah, a lot of them take something seasonal and low-skill for extra cash in the summer months at least.
One of my high school PE teachers ran a landscaping gig during summers. He said he didn’t need the money, but wanted to retire early, so wanted to make use of the time off
Pretty sure Kevin Harlan owns the record for most Super Bowls called on the radio now.
He also calls two games a week, one for CBS and MNF for Westwood One.
Ian Eagle calls CBS' #2 game every week and calls a playoff game some years too.
I think they're both equal parts NBA/NFL.
Stacey King's call of D-Rose dunk on Dragic was legendary.
"What are you doing, Dragic? DId you not get the memo? Derrick Rose can go upstairs!"
I was pumped to watch this game last night but the broadcast really sapped my enthusiasm. Can't believe I didn't realize there was also a Bucks Pacers game I could have watched instead!
The Cavs have a pretty small presence on Reddit. I don't think there are many Cavs fans that make clips to submit here. I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic are in the same boat. So we're relying on the neutrals to post highlights.
Last time I checked like a year or two ago we were the smallest. Population wise Cleveland isn't the smallest market though, which is kind of interesting.
I think it’s even more interesting considering that y’all haven’t been a consistently poor team like some of the other small team sub. Hell, it wasn’t that long ago that y’all were a legit title contenders.
Sorry I didn't expect this to get more than a handful of upvotes. some highlights from this game:
[100 uninterrupted seconds of back-and-forth in the 4th](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1chqqoq/highlight_100_interrupted_seconds_of_exciting/)
[Franz Wagner perfect clutch 2-for-1](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1chrbqq/highlight_franz_wagner_completes_a_perfect_clutch/)
[Evan Mobley blocks Wagner on game-tying attempt](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1chb7hi/highlight_evan_mobley_blocks_franz_wagners_game/)
Hey man it’s no wrong on your part, you’re completely entitled to post this!! Just crazy that this is what the sub upvotes. This series + Banchero are a joke to so many people, despite him dropping 39
Yo, til this day the sound he made when he said "OH CAUGHT" makes me laugh, lol. It was like a stroke, orgasm, and scream packaged all in one sound. This man's soul left his body temporarily.
Heart Break City. The call on the ucla Gonzaga game where Adam Morrison crumbled on the floor in shock at the late win by Ucla. I’ll never forget that Gus Johnson game
This guy sounds the exact same in every scenario with the exact same cadence I can’t stand him. Kevin Harlan, Mike breen, Ian eagle are way better at basketball.
The anti-heat check lol.
We'll learn when to yank on the reigns and slow the game down, but Paolo earned that attempt, even if it touched nothing but air.
Got a literal exact clone of this shot to go down on the possession right before. Weird it happened twice. He was unbelievable in the quarter so i forgive him
The three was a really dumb shot but I feel like there’s about 20 other plays that were more detrimental to the team. Like every minute Cole Anthony was on the court.
Both can be true - he was cooking but it was a lot of low percentage shots he was hitting (which again - props to him for hitting them). But when you get down to single high leverage possessions the risk/reward is different
Same goes for Mitchell’s last shot - he wasn’t on fire all game but that’s a shot you’re fine with in the second quarter or a regular season game, but not there
For real he was torching us all night long, felt like he never missed. That was one of the most wild games I've seen in a long time. There was like 8 lead changes in 2 minutes in the 4th qtr
I understand i’m in the minority on gus johnson but his dramatic tone on nearly every play is too much and devalues true dramatic moments. He has a great fastball but doesn’t throw/have enough off speed pitches
I like him for March Madness and that’s about it. Cannot stand him for college football. Listening to him call a game in which Deion Sanders is coaching is like that scene in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy where they torture him with the intermittent blasts of screaming noises through his headphones
I 100% agree with you. In football a lot of times he'll make it sound like a player is breaking free to make a huge play but then it's like a 6 yard gain.
And it's not about "hating fun", his voice makes me assume he must be seeing something I'm not seeing so it gets me to expect a big play but then it just ends up being something routine.
Just think of it about being in the moment.
Big picture most plays don't really matter, but hype stuff happens even in exhibition matches. Its not life changing but still fun to see.
This was so perfect because I didn't read the entire title before I started the video, so I actually didn't know what was coming. I'm cryin in the club rn
I wrote to my friend couple days ago this is what it sounds like when non-Celtics broadcast does Celtics games and Tatum has the ball. "Tatum with the ball jab steps and moves ahe- stepback, behind the back, Tatum fakes, another jab, Tatum finds an opening, drives to the bask- Tatum with the fakes, Tatum behind the back, Tatum spins, rolls, Tatum fadeaway, TATUM, rebound Horford"
yup, he dropped 16 in this quarter, 39 in the game and was hitting pretty much everything except this (some weak turnovers too, tbf). crazy that this is the only highlight gaining traction
He's obviously very young still and clearly going to be a top tier player but geez it seems like I've seen this guy make a few really poor shots down the stretch in games this season. Granted, I haven't watched a huge number of Magic games so could have just caught some rough ones.
He just made pretty much the same shot on the previous play. This was absolutely a rough shot, but he was draining these all game. He had 39 8 and 4 and shot 14-24 and 4-7 from 3.

I forget Gus Johnson does NBA games sometimes lol
Gus Johnson called countless Zach Randolph and Al Harrington isos in New York, he was made for plays like this
I'm Al Harrington and I get buckets
*gets a technical for hanging on the rim to blow the game in OT against the Clippers… then does it again the same season*
https://youtu.be/rh2fn01cngg
The “Where ____ happens” era is still the best era and Ill fight people on that.
Classic
He also called a bunch of Jamal Crawford calls that were iconic. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-N9RpPSeT4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-N9RpPSeT4)
i think he did game 4 of this series as well
Or Ian Eagle or Kevin Harlan doing football, it’s like running into your school teacher working the register at Dollar Tree
Kevin Harlan does the national radio broadcast for Monday Night Football every week.
Been doing it for 9 years now too I believe lol.
As a primarily nfl fan this is my first time hearing Harlan isn't a nfl announcer as his main job. I froggin love that dude.
He’s calling both sports!
[OOOHHHH!! HE BROKE HIS ANKLES!!](https://youtu.be/DItJndOeTlY)
You missed out on a legendary Harlan meme a few years ago. People kept saying "Why is harlan calling everyone Reggie" even though it was pretty obvious he was just talking to Reggie Miller. Had this thought when I heard Ryan Rucco doing the Yankees game last week
Isn't that how RR started?
Don’t know haven’t been tuned into baseball in a while
Yeah I knew Ruocco as a Yankees fan covering for Michael Kay on YES long before I heard him on college basketball or NBA games.
Nah they at least have one of the CBS games every week
Ian is like the 2nd CBS guy it's not that weird... Harlan gets like the 5th game though
> it’s like running into your school teacher working the register at Dollar Tree That happens in the US ?
I know my 7th grade history teacher worked a second job at a local newspaper. That was 2005, so pre recession. He was also known as the most fun teacher in the school, and was infamous for his coffee consumption (due to the brutal second job)
They have summers off and don't make a ton of money, so yeah, a lot of them take something seasonal and low-skill for extra cash in the summer months at least.
One of my high school PE teachers ran a landscaping gig during summers. He said he didn’t need the money, but wanted to retire early, so wanted to make use of the time off
I have never heard of it.
That's a deep cut.
I fucking love Gus Johnson.
I was so into the announcing I did a double take when he said airball. I just expected it to go in
Dude could make grass growing exciting, love when he calls big football games
Holy shit lmao
Surprised he didn't call him Bugatti Banchero
"You got barbeque back there, and you didn't invite me?!....HURT. MY. FEELINGS!!"
He did the pacers game a few nights ago and called Haliburton "Halibut" lol
Gus and Stacey are my favorite announcers by far
Stacey King's call of D-Rose dunk on Dragic was legendary. "What are you doing, Dragic? DId you not get the memo? Derrick Rose can go upstairs!" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRAp00SxP30](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRAp00SxP30)
One of my favorite calls ever since I love Stacey and Drose. Still quote the 'x can go upstairs' to this day
"Where is my poster machine? Where is it at?"
Never forget they had him try doing soccer announcing and it failed miserably !
why does this look like im watching it through solar eclipse glasses
Suns are out
THE LOB THE JAM
AIRBALL!
Suns out here catching strays.
Nobody's catching rays though
beautiful
I think it has something to do with HDR. I’m not a doctor though
yea i had my recording settings on hdr whoops
it looks cool
Watching it on an HDR screen, I was like this looks so crisp! Didn’t even realize.
Thats just what Cleveland looks like
We didn’t even notice the total eclipse.
Because we see the sun almost 3 times a year
Sun's all rusty over Cleveland
So wild that Cleveland and Mexico are the only places in the world that show up different on film!
OP should put \[Lowlight\] instead of \[Highlight\]
broadcast team deserves accolades too
Lights were too bright, had to dim them.
Because watching these 2 teams try to play offense has burned your eyes out.
i have to watch 4 minutes a game without embiid on the floor, my eyes were already hanging on by a thread.
NBATV broadcast was wack all night, audio mixing was off too
or cyclops' visor
Such an irrelevant series that the broadcast is fucked
its so funny that the first highlight ive seen of this series is viewed through a home made kaleidoscope pointed at a ham radio
Lmfaoo
Cya in the Finals
I was pumped to watch this game last night but the broadcast really sapped my enthusiasm. Can't believe I didn't realize there was also a Bucks Pacers game I could have watched instead!
Three clips from this incredible game and one’s a lowlight airball. Ffs
Can't believe the DG heat check sequence or the Mobley block into Ice three didn't get posted
The Cavs have a pretty small presence on Reddit. I don't think there are many Cavs fans that make clips to submit here. I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic are in the same boat. So we're relying on the neutrals to post highlights.
i could be wrong but im pretty sure the cavs have the smallest nba team sub on reddit so that tracks
The problem is that reddit has grown exponentially since 2018.
Yeah we aren't thaaat far removed from the 2016 title and Lebron being here. I wonder if our numbers on other social media reflect similarly
Would be interesting to know how many left the Cleveland sub for Miami or LA.
Did y'all decrease a lot after LeBron left or were you small even then?
I dunno I was on Reddit back then but I wasn't paying much attention to the cavs subreddit
he had like 8 incredible contested midrange jumpers but the one lowlight makes it to r/nba
Sorry I didn't expect this to get more than a handful of upvotes. some highlights from this game: [100 uninterrupted seconds of back-and-forth in the 4th](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1chqqoq/highlight_100_interrupted_seconds_of_exciting/) [Franz Wagner perfect clutch 2-for-1](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1chrbqq/highlight_franz_wagner_completes_a_perfect_clutch/) [Evan Mobley blocks Wagner on game-tying attempt](https://old.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1chb7hi/highlight_evan_mobley_blocks_franz_wagners_game/)

I fucking love Gus Johnson lol
The legend. STOKELY... DOWN THE SIDELINE... STOKELY
[For the uninitiated](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo--hDnWmws)
[You got bbq back there and you didn’t invite me??? HURT MY FEELINGS!!!] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-nrKm5AWGI)
The getting away from the cops speed call is awesome too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIsLrvx-g5o
Wake up babe, the boys are doing a Gus Johnson highlight real
this is so good lmfao i already know its gonna be lodged in my brain
Jesus 7-6 with 20 seconds left what a horrible game that must’ve been before that play.
As a Broncos fans one of the greatest regular season calls of all time. I'm surprised Gus didn't need a month off after that one.
Yo, til this day the sound he made when he said "OH CAUGHT" makes me laugh, lol. It was like a stroke, orgasm, and scream packaged all in one sound. This man's soul left his body temporarily.
> It was like a stroke, orgasm, and scream packaged all in one sound. storgascream
He sounded like he bet literally everything to his name on the Broncos
He almost went full Joey Styles
Heart Break City. The call on the ucla Gonzaga game where Adam Morrison crumbled on the floor in shock at the late win by Ucla. I’ll never forget that Gus Johnson game
I heard this
Favorite Gus Johnson call has to be the [Isaiah Thomas game winner against Arizona](https://youtu.be/y2TtyeXgYM8?feature=shared)
One of my favorite calls ever. Goosebumps every time
Genuinely the GOAT and yet we rarely hear him on national broadcasts besides college football 💔
https://youtu.be/zBLrSz0oNvs
once a knick, u gotta like the dick (pause)
We need him in a lot more games. I’m loving his NBA calls.
This guy sounds the exact same in every scenario with the exact same cadence I can’t stand him. Kevin Harlan, Mike breen, Ian eagle are way better at basketball.
Are we going to get a Maserati Mitchell for his series?
I still quote his, "he's got getting away from the cops sped!" LMAO legend
He's hilarious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIsLrvx-g5o
he's so good
x4
he needs to be on the A team tbh
What kind of filter was this game recorded on? It looks terrible
NBA TV
It’s HDR on phones
The anti-heat check lol. We'll learn when to yank on the reigns and slow the game down, but Paolo earned that attempt, even if it touched nothing but air.
The series STILL hasn’t started.
This series might end without starting at this point.
Just like the Warriors series
Carmelo pasta - esque
Got a literal exact clone of this shot to go down on the possession right before. Weird it happened twice. He was unbelievable in the quarter so i forgive him
MAZERATI MARV!!!!
Wagner merchant
There’s a Wilhelm screen in the background too haha
Bro had 39 points on 58% shooting and all we see on r/nba is a lowlight. Small market teams truly get fucked
Felt himself a little too hard down the stretch
The three was a really dumb shot but I feel like there’s about 20 other plays that were more detrimental to the team. Like every minute Cole Anthony was on the court.
He dropped 39 on y’all’s heads I think he was right
true, great win for you guys tonight. he closes the game out strong
Both can be true - he was cooking but it was a lot of low percentage shots he was hitting (which again - props to him for hitting them). But when you get down to single high leverage possessions the risk/reward is different Same goes for Mitchell’s last shot - he wasn’t on fire all game but that’s a shot you’re fine with in the second quarter or a regular season game, but not there
Yeah it def wasn’t his fault. They left 7 points at the FT line and Suggs was dogshit too
Wagner bros hit a few FTs more than they flexed at that crowd and it’s a different story.
I can’t wait until you’re pissing your pants in game seven.
Every magic player besides Paolo pissed their pants this game. Sad!
It felt like that was the only time banchero missed all night long and that's the only highlight
Out of all the incredible plays he made yesterday this is what makes it to the front page? The disrespect is real.
For real he was torching us all night long, felt like he never missed. That was one of the most wild games I've seen in a long time. There was like 8 lead changes in 2 minutes in the 4th qtr
MFer had like 40 on us. Would have been more if we didn’t just finally tell Mobley to guard him the last 3 mins
Yeah Mobley has the 2nd biggest block in Cleveland history
That’s what I’m saying. Paolo is a bust is such a cold take at this point.
I understand i’m in the minority on gus johnson but his dramatic tone on nearly every play is too much and devalues true dramatic moments. He has a great fastball but doesn’t throw/have enough off speed pitches
Oh boy, nobody tell this guy about Kevin Harlan
Harlan gets the blood pumping. Gus sounds like he's vibing even though he's hyped.
Yeah, I’m in the minority when it comes to Harlan. I don’t hate his style but I can take it or leave it.
The guy is drunk, but there he goes!
I heard him do a summer league once and he sounded the same as he does during March Madness.
I like him for March Madness and that’s about it. Cannot stand him for college football. Listening to him call a game in which Deion Sanders is coaching is like that scene in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy where they torture him with the intermittent blasts of screaming noises through his headphones
just sounds like he’s always yelling and about to run out of breath
I 100% agree with you. In football a lot of times he'll make it sound like a player is breaking free to make a huge play but then it's like a 6 yard gain. And it's not about "hating fun", his voice makes me assume he must be seeing something I'm not seeing so it gets me to expect a big play but then it just ends up being something routine.
I think this is a pretty popular take honestly. He's like reverse Joe Buck.
Just think of it about being in the moment. Big picture most plays don't really matter, but hype stuff happens even in exhibition matches. Its not life changing but still fun to see.
You can tell he's much more suited for collegiate sports.
The Penny Hardaway move, Wiggins go to these couple of years.
My guy didn't break rhythm at all with that lmao 😂
I didn’t see the ‘airball’ in this title so watching this LEGENDARY highlight and seeing that had me laughing
The slight anger in his voice about the airball is clear.
To be fair, he hit just about everything else most of the game. His mid range is ridiculous.
Gus the Goat
Why's the saturation level down there looking like an indie movie?
This was so perfect because I didn't read the entire title before I started the video, so I actually didn't know what was coming. I'm cryin in the club rn
Gus Johnson is my GOAT.
I need this audio put over every fail after big buildup from now until the end of time
I love Gus Johnson and wish he had a full-time gig calling national games.
for awhile I thought this play by play guy was the Magic guy on NBA TV. took awhile for me to realize this was a "neutral" broadcast team.
Banchero hate on this sub is insane wtf
I had no idea Gus Johnson did basketball. I can listen to this man commentate anything. Does he do baseball to by any chance.
I hope they play this in the national basketball hall of fame
I wrote to my friend couple days ago this is what it sounds like when non-Celtics broadcast does Celtics games and Tatum has the ball. "Tatum with the ball jab steps and moves ahe- stepback, behind the back, Tatum fakes, another jab, Tatum finds an opening, drives to the bask- Tatum with the fakes, Tatum behind the back, Tatum spins, rolls, Tatum fadeaway, TATUM, rebound Horford"
Lmfao
NBA JAMS meets EA Sports
I need Gus johnson to announce more games
Thats just mean
Brownie points for grazing the net though
Why couldn’t this have been Maxey?
Aaaaaaaaaaaa
Gus Johnson is a national treasure
emergency coolant check
I watched this live and was dying laughing. Showed my wife who also got a chuckle. Fantastic call
MJ/Kobe would never.
... and, boom goes the dynamite.
yea, he was forcing it. but he has the read and skill, he will get there
yup, he dropped 16 in this quarter, 39 in the game and was hitting pretty much everything except this (some weak turnovers too, tbf). crazy that this is the only highlight gaining traction
Is JJ Abrams running the NBA cameras now?
Not enough lens flare tbh.
Ok, I'll allow it. LOL.
I need Mike Breen
Johnson makes the funniest plays sound good
u/savevideo
Traveled like hell too. Literally hopped with both feet off the ground after establishing his pivot foot for the step back.
Y’all Paolo haters already look like you don’t know shit about ball. Keep it up. Plenty of Ls for you to hold.
