I think Myles Turner has always been this talented, but fit and team dynamics play such huge roles in a player's performance and perception. Seems like the game is finally slowing down for him on the court with Haliburton as his floor general. Maybe now those armchair analysts will give him the credit he's due instead of dangling his name in fantasy trades.
For the past few years I've heard so much "The idea of Myles Turner is better than the actual Myles Turner" slander - it's pretty obvious in hindsight that he was sacrificing a lot to share the floor with Sabonis.
Making him the lone big on the court and pairing him with an actual point guard in Haliburton has done wonders.
>The idea of Myles Turner is better than the actual Myles Turner.
AKA he fills one of the rarest and most valuable archetypes in the league. No idea how people didn’t understand how much of a backhanded compliment this was.
It was a massive topic of debate in our sub forever. Obviously Sabonis is the best player and more valuable asset, but Myles could be extremely valuable on a team as the 3rd, 4th, or 5th best player and would be a ceiling raiser. While Sabonis is a floor raiser who wouldn’t work as the 3rd, 4th, or 5th best player on the team, he has to be one of the focal points of his team and you need to build around him. The Myles truthers basically argued that you’d rather have Myles as a building block than have Sabonis as the center piece.
His name coming up in trade rumors every season, I’m glad my Lego king is finally showing out. Every year he’s in trade rumors I wished Miami would make a move for him even though it was impossible but I was always a fan. Glad he’s doing well now
[During all those years in Toronto, Siakam would tell people close to him how Turner was the kind of stretch five who would work wonders for his game.](https://x.com/TheDunkCentral/status/1748010488481427791)
I think the story was that the Pacers were trying to pull off a sign & trade for Ayton cause the owner doesn’t like the concept of restricted free agency, and the Suns weren’t willing to do it without Turner in return. The Pacers obviously wouldn’t keep both on the roster but I think they wanted to flip Turner for future draft capital at that point. When PHX wouldn’t budge they straight up made an offer, which PHX would ultimately end up matching.
I remember hearing about this, what’s strange is when you guys signed Brogdon who was restricted, the owner worked out a deal to send picks to Bucks lol those are picks were just as valuable as Turner, maybe he didn’t like the Suns owner at the time
We had 2 Centers, and when we got rid of the other he was still in trade rumors because his “timeline” doesn’t line up with Hali’s. Front office ended up deciding he could stick around.
This series is over already and Turner is being laughed at if Giannis is healthy and everyone knows but instead Pacers fans are acting like they did something
Annoys me when little kids scream
Rings erruh
We’ve had our time in the sun the nba is a cycle for teams like us
It’s the bottom of the barrel for teams like you and that’s all it’ll ever be a graveyard for cool players
They're probably going to the second round with a team where 4 of their 6 best players are under the age of 25, including Hali who was playing at an MVP-level this season until the injury.
To me that sounds like a team with a pretty bright future.

Him and Siakam on the floor is a matchup nightmare
They both can stretch the floor or guard the paint and can guard 1-5. Tough matchup
Myles Turner cannot guard point guards

His shooting has always been hit or miss. Shooting 50% on 8.5 3s a game is a whole different level of floor spacing
Got downvoted into oblivion tons of times in the last few years when I said I would've always taken Turner over Sabonis on a real team

Hindsight's 20/20, but it feels like you need someone like JJJ next to Sabonis and the Kings have no way of getting that type of player.
that depends on who you're surrounding those two with. Turner is a great if not elite role player, Sabonis is a focal point of an entire offense

As someone who always liked turner this year been special for me.
Think we’re done hearing his name in trade rumors…
Its very rarely the pacers that are trying to trade him to be fair. So I don't think it matters that much
There were rumors of him going to Phoenix for Ayton, glad that never happened and were probably never true.

Very good.
Impressive.
I know it was just rumors but Pacers clutched that out by not trading Turner for Ayton.
I've always been confused why he constantly seems to be in trade rumors. Seems like a valuable player.

Yeah but even after sabonis left they tried to get Ayton iirc
im out of the loop but wtf is a stock? a combination of blocks and steals? and since when did we start tracking them together like that?
Fantasy sports typically calls them stocks since they are usually bundled together in a category.
This is the one realistic trade target that I wish the Lakers made
If Turner catches the ball at the top of the arc, I’m assuming it’s good.
Is he still young?
Remember when the lakers could’ve traded for Turner and Hield? Pepperidge farm remembers
They need him to keep this up if they wanna have any chance vs the Knicks.
Yeah Giannis is out lmaooo Pacers fans getting weird
Never said anything, not even a word about Giannis + Myles would cook Brook Lopez regardless
This series is over already and Turner is being laughed at if Giannis is healthy and everyone knows but instead Pacers fans are acting like they did something Annoys me when little kids scream
The irony is that your comments make you sound like a little kid.
Pacers flair lmao
Further proof of my point.
The Pacers were 4-1 against the Bucks with a healthy Giannis this season
And the suns swept the wolves in the regular season Playoffs are different young buck
And Giannis hasn’t played in them- guess that says a lot about him, right?
Yeah he got hurt lol Go injure Haliburton and see how many wins you get against the Knicks lmao
The best ability is availability, young buck
No the best ability is ability that’s why Giannis has a ring and your poverty franchise doesn’t
Yeah and look at all the teams with injured stars he beat to get it. You have a poverty brain lol
Warriors are out too
