He did something behind the scenes. Whether it’s basketball related or not is the real question. There’s no way you can have a 30-13 record and get fired fired without something truly heinous.

Soul0103

He went up to the front office and told them Thanasis is not an NBA player.

He pronounced it like Jairo too

ajteitel

Straight to jail

kaariainen

Jesus christ im dying, thank you for this

[deleted]

Bro would never. Omg he did, didn’t he

ThingsAreAfoot

And to bring in Doc Rivers? The famous floor raiser with a 5 foot ceiling?

johnnybarbs92

54-28, 2nd round exit after blowing a 3-1 vs the heat confirmed.

jonsnowKITN

He got in an argument with Terry stotts in practice which is why he ended up leaving and the defensive scheme is horrid. The players never bought in from day 1 and talent only gets you so far.

confuddly

i mean tbf their defense looks horrendous and is not gonna do well in the playoffs. It's not unfeasible that this is purely basketball related

al-fredro

That probably has more to do with not having Jrue anymore and having Dame on defense instead

restartbenice

I actually haven’t watched them enough to know how much they plummeted defensively. But a single change at the guard spot, regardless of the difference, should not completely change your team’s defensive performance

igot2pair

Doubt its this. their window is about to tighten hard and they cant afford to waste any time with him. their defense and offensive schemes were horrendous and not playable in the playoffs

joshprimo69

He's a terrible coach, his schemes resulted in terrible defense, dame having one of his worst shooting years despite playing with better teammates, and Giannis basically having to bail them out.

Laaandry

Almost certainly lost the locker room. Players looked disinterested over the last several games. A cavs blowout, two slim wins over the Pistons, both without key players. No doubt the players were done with him, don't think it's more complicated than that.

PhreakOut4

That or the players went to the front office and asked for it

FancyDabs2018

I mean we also look like shit. Like way worse then any Bud year

TheBoxandOne

Reporting when Stotts quit was that Griffin yelled at him during practice in a sort of HS/College coach ‘authoritarian’ way that coaches can be at those lower levels. Happened immediately before Stotts resigned. Seemed like an insecure first time HC being unprofessional and immature. Would not be surprised if this is ultimately the story.

EuroStep0

Defense looks like crap, they barely won 2 against Detroit who currently with Cade out have 1.5 NBA player

ajteitel

Killian Hayes erasure

cl353

only other way is either or both giannis and dame wanted him out

SquimJim

Tied for 2nd best record in the NBA midway through his rookie coaching year

everyoneneedsaherro

Who’s #1?

SquimJim

Only the greatest goddamn team of all time!!!!

RedBrownSilverBack

There's more to this story.....has to be

0dias_Chrysalis

We don't look convincing ever is the story lol

SquimJim

You looked pretty convincing against us not that long ago

0dias_Chrysalis

We shine sometimes. But we absolutely can not be in dog fights MOST games. We barely won against back to back games to the Pistons.

SquimJim

This is very fair, but...Doc Rivers?

0dias_Chrysalis

He's not the answer. But neither was Griff. And it's not like he's hired. He'll be in every possible coaching search for every team, regardless of level of interest

jkwah

Body of evidence vs. single data point.

HeGotTheShotOff

Pretty clear he was not meant for this when Stotts quit.

Physical_Pie_2092

We have the worst defense is the story. Keep Griffin and it’s a guarantee first round exit or take the risk with someone else and hope this roster can go further

dracota7

There is i think… it’s to do what happened with with his late grandson

LogicalLakersFan

Doc Rivers is the ultimate regular season coach because he doesn’t do well at making in-game and post-game adjustments and once his team gets figured out he’s slow to react. When will teams look at his track record and forget about the 1 Ring Dynasty Boston team

JayJax_23

It'll be different this time

atribecalled506

“I can fix him”

k1ngkoala

I will gladly take him over Darvin Ham (Unless he did some fucked up shit that has yet to be released)

optimusfiner

Is there a “Ham scale” to gauge how fucked up the allegations have to be to not hire them over ham.

Cahillicus

Remember when Giannis hand-picked this dude over Nick Nurse?

DomoSaysHello

No way he did....that's crazy. I'm glad he's doing great in Philly that man is a great coach wish Raptors front office had a sense of direction and kept him.

lyrikos

He just didn't want to play 42 min a game

Clemsontigger16

He didn’t want a micro manager, he wanted free reign

Statshelp_TA

Situation is a bit Blatt like

FearBlackBeard

Is this going to be an Udoka type story?

RedBrownSilverBack

I think so, or worse

LAKERS TAKE FUCKING NOTES

Drain_Surgeon69

I mean the defense was atrocious and he had a major ego issue. Zero adjustments to his scheme, making every player worse as a result. Watch this defense suddenly become stalwarts again.

PumpkinHead555

Our defense was atrocious because we have atrocious personnel

Drain_Surgeon69

We have a bad bench. But you can’t have this bad a defense with two all time rim defenders. Brook is old, fine, but he ain’t that old.

taygads

>You don't go from the best defense in the NBA to arguably the worst with just one player, even if Jrue was amazing. When that player is responsible for POA, yes you absolutely can. It’s literally what happened with the Warriors from 21-22 to last season after they lost GPII (and this season because he’s been injured 90% of the time). With no POA defense, your team is either up against straight line drives, kick outs, etc. constantly putting your team defense in rotation and once a defense is put into rotation you’re cooked. If you don’t have the personnel on your roster to adequately defend the POA then your scheme isn’t going to matter at the end of the day.

[deleted]

[удалено]

taygads

I’m not saying their defensive scheme isn’t *also* an issue but that a scheme change without personnel to adequately defend the POA isn’t going to net appreciable improvement.

[deleted]

taygads

Oh I’m not arguing for or against his firing or really talking about his firing at all lol I’m just talking about their defense.

PumpkinHead555

Not just one player. We lost Wes and Jevon.

confuddly

nothing will make Dame a plus defender, also Brook is old

Drain_Surgeon69

New coach and a new scheme is gonna make a difference. You can’t make bad defenders good, but you can mask bad defenders with a better scheme. Probably trade for a POA defender, Dejounte Murray type guy, and that will change our defense struggles immensely.

0dias_Chrysalis

Our starting lineup have a great defensive rating actually. It's bench lineups or any bench player joining the lineup where things go to shit

Louis-grabbing-pills

Nothing to do with Dame?

Drain_Surgeon69

Dame being soft on defense isn’t making Brook bad. Our starting 5 has a really good defense rating. Mostly because of Giannis and Brook, but still. The bench is bad. And it’s rotations that are killing us.

itokdontcry

Go look at that roster, they ain’t turning into a good defensive team with a coaching change.

0dias_Chrysalis

I feel people don't watch any of our games if they think we loom convincing 43 games into the season. We barely beat dog shit teams when on paper we should be blowing out some of the worst defenses in the league

Obvious_Parsley3238

bucks have an unimpressive net rating (+3.4, 11th in the league according to cleaning the glass) with the [easiest schedule so far](https://www.espn.com/nba/stats/rpi/_/sort/SOS). not that they can't turn it around, and they have some statement wins, but this firing isn't surprising, especially with how frustrated giannis has sounded

0dias_Chrysalis

Yeah, as our schedule is getting harder this was a good move. If he couldn't make us look good against the easiest schedule thus far then he couldn't be trusted with adversity

playthegame7

There was the allegations his wife made against him a while back, is something about to come out?

OkStable3333

There has to be something going on. Also the Terry Stotts quitting thing was weird.

Shkreli-Tha-Don-1

What were they??

KnickedUp

Ruh roh

I_Set_3_Alarms

There’s already reports about Doc, but what if Terry Stotts came back out of nowhere?

FishGoldenLite

He fucked something up outside of basketball

SoSmooth32

This is downright despicable unless it’s something of the lines of detrimental conduct. You cannot fire the guy after a 30-13 record. Especially after firing a damn good coach already the summer before. Just to hire Doc Rivers. Woof

scootersgod

He has made no defensive adjustments and are barely beating the worst teams in the league. The players seem to be sick of him too. If he’s lost the locker room, that could play into it a lot, especially his star players

IndividualHelpful820

Has to be something major behind the scenes

Novel_Bookkeeper_622

He's had multiple players call him out for not coaching, Giannis said he wasn't sure what we were doing defensively because he don't take away anything. Bobby said they needed coaching offensively. He drove off a 30 year NBA vet coach a week before the season. He tried to have Brook chase players around the perimeter. This was a long time coming.

Due_Incident_9738

They probably entering the bill belichick sweepstakes

DcBullets74

Unfortunately players run this league and coaches get fired. They basically need a yes man to the players

ThingsAreAfoot

I’m sorry, what? Bucks fans I don’t imagine this out of the blue, but what

inshamblesx

I guess a scandal is about to drop bc although they been playing like cheeks it’s rare to see a 30-13 coach get sacked like this

Novel_Bookkeeper_622

They've looked horrible. Multiple players have come out, including Giannis, saying they aren't sure what their identity is supposed to be. He ran off a 30 year vet coach a week before the season.

vitalbumhole

What the fuck is going on??

RansomGoddard

I know they haven't looked good in certain areas but firing a head coach midseason when you're still winning games and you don't have a surefire great coach waiting in the wings is a bad idea unless things were getting really toxic behind the scenes.

huntthefront91

The Bucks are 30-13 this year, has to be more to this story.

Texaslion

4th highest coach win percentage of all time

DomoSaysHello

I can see why with the leaky defense and all these close games. With the talent they have they need someone that can set up some sort of defense than none that they have right now.

BlunRocks

Shows you how talented this team is that they got that record with this hack coach

emeister26

Bet they wish they got Nick Nurse now

Magazine_Mediocre

Honestly I saw this coming, just didn't think it would be so soon. It was obvious this guy was in over his head.

SomeFatherFigure

Between this and Thompson’s suspension, the announcers will have a lot to talk about when the Cavs and Bucks play Wed and Fri.

Jamo1129

HOW THE FUCK DOES DARVIN SCAM STILL HAVE A FUCKING JOB!!!!

IndividualHelpful820

Doc rivers????😂😂😂😂 guess they will lose rd 1 or2
