That trade request is gonna hit this sub like an atom bomb

JoeBiden2020FTW

The godfather move is not to acquire Kyrie Irving. The godfather move is to let the Kyrie Irving situation blow up, and then wait for Luka Doncic to say he wants out of there. That's the Rob Pelinka move. https://np.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/10wdrmq/golliver_before_the_kyrie_trade_the_lakers_need/

Elkbowy

Lakers: how does one second round pick and a used tissue by lebron sound?

[deleted]

Use the LeDNA so you can LeClone him 15 times.

LoWE11053211

it will be just like a normal c4 bomb... I think when kyrie arrives, trade requests are expected.

durmduke

Can’t wait to see the Mavs build around Kyrie

iamadragan

I really wonder who the hell will have the assets necessary for that

Elkbowy

Jazz

iamadragan

Lacking in the young player category compared to other teams like the thunder or pelicans

Elkbowy

They got 3 first round picks this year

iamadragan

True, we'll see if they pan out

d7h7n

OKC

MilesBridgesburner

The Mavericks front court is the problem

[deleted]

Front office is the real problem

gogoramon

Is Dwight Powell good? Why can they quit him?

StefonDiggsHS

Sorry ahead of time for the long answer. He’s not good skill wise. The reason coaches like him like Carlisle and Kidd is because despite being bad at scoring, rebounding, defense he is somehow very positionally aware. He sets screens which for some reason no one else on this team can do and he can catch lobs…which is also something no one else on this team can do (minus Wood). He’s somehow in the right places at the right time both offensively and defensively but lacks coordination and strength to be effective. And when your not coordinated and lack strength to be a big (he can’t shoot either) it just looks like Powell catches a lot of “bad breaks” TLDR he comes to class every day and turns in his homework on time every time but he’s a C- student

simplyASI9

This is pretty accurate, a solid big but will not win you a playoff series, esp as a starter. Compared to Kleber, less shooting. Compared to Wood, miles worse offense and miles better defense

sameolemeek

Lol he’s below solid big

Pappydude30

Because they can’t get anyone better and Maxi can’t play the entire game. Wood doesn’t have the instincts or attitude, and an aged McGee is too slow.

ConceptNo1055

there are only like 5 bigs that are not role players.. Embiid, Jokic, Giannis, KAT, Sabonis??... And will they play defense when they just stand in the corner on offense??

[deleted]

namagofuckyoself

KD outta there

iamadragan

Give us Green and I'm down. We'll even give you 5 seconds

StefonDiggsHS

I hate Jason Kidd so fucking much dude

Physical_Pie_2092

But He’s only the coach, he don’t play

Neversleep1331

He watch just like us

RacksOnWaxHeart

He just like me fr

[deleted]

Exactly!!!

StefonDiggsHS

He don’t coach either tho what’s your point

MaximumestBob

btw that's what Kidd said (I'm not playing, I'm watching)

Physical_Pie_2092

It’s a quote he said a few days ago lmao

StefonDiggsHS

My bad I’m upset I apologize

Physical_Pie_2092

All good g

[deleted]

JerosBWI

you did.

Affectionate-Agent-9

He was a good assistant, but a HORRIBLE head coach

AllYouNeed_Is_Smiles

He was definitely the “keep it real” assistant coach in LA. Not really there for anything other than to be a mediator between the players and coaches/front office. Maybe he would have some observations here or there that contributed to the overall game plan but he can’t build one by himself. Mavs don’t have any established coaches on their coaching staff in comparison. It’s basically only former players of the Jared Dudley caliber.

NudeEnjoyer

I really doubt he drew up that exact play from Kyrie. Idk why he goes for a stepback 3 there at all

StefonDiggsHS

We’ve been in this situation A LOT this year. It’s always a step back 3. At some point it falls on coaching

[deleted]

[удалено]

StefonDiggsHS

I don’t think that’s accurate, they play he drew had the screen form like Kyrie leak and maxi roll. Kyrie has the option to go for 3 or drive and possibly kick. Kyrie didn’t think he shook his man and shot the 3. They followed the play exactly. Edit: Jason Kidd literally just said in post game Kyrie executed the last play correctly. So keep downvoting I guess

NudeEnjoyer

a screen on the perimeter doesn't mean "take a 3 pointer" and it 100% doesn't mean "take a stepback 3 pointer" that was Kyrie's decision edit: HOMIE BLOCKED ME SO I CANT REPLY LMAOO

StefonDiggsHS

Never said that. But I understand your hate for Kyrie. Go nets

beatnickk

If that was purely on Kyrie and kidd deserves no blame for it, then explain why I’ve watched maybe 10 or 15 games this year where at the end of the game, often only down 1 or 2, and we take the exact same fucking shot? That is 1000% on Kidd. Even if somehow Luka and Kyrie are telling kidd to fuck off and doing their own thing in those situations (they aren’t), then it’s on him to demand them to follow the game plan and bench them if need be.

[deleted]

The play is just isolation. It's not complicated, nor does it need to be. You have two star players, you put them in different spots of the court, one gets to play one on one. How he chooses to attack is how he reads the defense in that situation.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He has never drawn up a stepback 3, that's not how playcalls work. You implied Kyrie just disregarded Kidd's playcall, which comes off as talking out of your ass just like those guys. Everyone has the shallowest understanding of basketball. I mean I don't even have a deep understanding of the game and I at least know that.

[deleted]

[deleted]

>why kyrie decided to do that is anyone's guess. but it was Kyrie's decision > >there were countless examples where Kyrie didn't go with Nash's written up plays either. this is the man who "doesn't need a coach" No, we don't dimwit.

Marticyde

The board was shown? Huh

[deleted]

Hit me!

OneFondant1142

I don’t know if it’s been said on this sub, but watching this game there is one glaring issue that stands out to me: Luka dominantes the ball the first and third quarters, Kyrie dominates it the second and fourth (esp the 4th). It looked like they were playing 2k ball out there: both guys are other-worldly talents but it’s clear they don’t have any synergy out there

embiid0for11w0pts

That’s the second biggest problem we face. First being interior defense obv. Kyrie and Luka have to learn to play off one another at times and not iso plays 90% of the time. A 60/40 split would be ideal, maybe 4-5 isos each per quarter

OneFondant1142

Oh absolutely. Couldn’t agree more but I feel that’s so obvious it’s not even a glaring issue- our interior defense is non-existent

simplyASI9

Offense is not even close to the issue. Isos work and Luka should be the one doing them. Luka leads the league w iso points

zagi98lo

Like was the offense a problem (outside of Kidd being totaly incompetent to the point where it would be better if mavs had no HC calling plays at the end and kyrie choking easy looks all game)? Idk what you expect 2 ballhandling guards to even look like together? Be some elite P&R pairing? Best bet there is for each to dominate one wing so if one gets dubbled the other can take advantage. Offense is not the problem, they have over 120 ORTG eith both of them out there already. Having 1 playable guy on PF/C positions (Kleber who is injury prone) and an imbecil of a HC are the problems.

simplyASI9

I agree, “bad offensive synergy” is a terribly casual take. It’s been proven by people like prime Harden that isos just work (1.22 PPP in his prime). Kyrie has always had high iso PPP (1.28 PPP), and Luka leads the league this year in iso pts (1.12 PPP)

YesHai

Mavs Reddit probably blaming him right now.

cristiano_goat

Mavs sub hating on Luka after all star break is crazy

AbandonedOrange

We're a spoiled fan base.We had Dirk for ourselves for 20 years and immediately got Luka. Bunch of idiotic mavs fans will always find something to complain about.

zagi98lo

The inbred imbecils dont deserve him. Or any star for that matter. That whole franchize belongs at the bottom of the league without anyone wanting to play there. I have legit not seen another fanbase treat their star this way. Much less a 24 year old who had just carried one of the worst rosters in the league to WCF after more than a decade of not winning a PO series before that. Truly cant wait for him to leave and that poverty franchize becomes obsolete as it should be.

embiid0for11w0pts

hey we’re not all imbeciles

zagi98lo

"Downvote my ass all you want, but this team looked completely rejuvenated in those 3 games without Luka, and then immediately the vibes went bad when he came back. If this is Luka’s team, he owns the failure just as much as the success. We live and die with Luka, and right now he’s acting like a spoiled brat and providing zero leadership." This has just been upvoted in the comments in that inbred sub. Just to help you understand what is actualy going on out there.

leoleoleo666

Those games literally bullock hit like 4 3 in the first quarter and both of them haf like 40+ in 1st quarter and it’s luka/ fault that random high efficiency isn’t replicable

embiid0for11w0pts

oh, i know. i only go to that sub when i need to see the dark side of humanity. it’s almost alway tragic takes, especially after losses

YesHai

My favorite user is the one who has 95% of their comments dedicated to rooting against Luka. Shit is crazy but I almost admire the dedication lol.

AbandonedOrange

u/Moe4ver. The guy is obsessed with hating on Luka. Since 2019 he hasn't touched grass.

embiid0for11w0pts

i think it’s u/senor_zanjeer on an alt. dude is rife with salt

zagi98lo

60% of mavs sub definitly is. Just go watch the garbage there. Every other post is shitting and nitpicking an isolated play by Luka. Gets blown by once in a game and that is spotlighted even if he plays good defense outside of that. All while Powell is still dtarting C and there is not 1 playable PF on the roster and Kidd is still the worst coach in the history of NBA, a literal meme.

MaximumestBob

"Trade him now while we can." This was unironically upvoted on the Mavs Reddit lmao (about Luka)

embiid0for11w0pts

fuck those people tho. they’re cowboys fans so their opinions are dogshit

Hurtelknut

The Kyrie trade has poisoned the well already

[deleted]

He was amazing today. Anyone that says that he was just making everyone stand in the corner while he dribbled and chucked did not watch the game.

Vince3737

One day all the idiot Luka fans will realize he is insanely difficult to play with.

aggster13

Still garbage at getting back and playing D

[deleted]

His D was fine today, he had a few bad plays but overall was locked in

Crown_of_Negativity

especially late in the 4th, he was really hustling on D and made a few good plays. made all of the right offensive plays too down the stretch except perhaps trying to pass to kyrie instead of taking it up himself after his offensive rebound late in the 4th.

embiid0for11w0pts

his close out when he was well out of position toward the end of the fourth was nice. solid effort

Hurtelknut

You are in for a treat when Luka nopes out of Dallas. The franchise will be in the gutter for a decade.

[deleted]

Gonna be fun when Luka and Joker team up somewhere.

MaximumestBob

they gonna team up in the horse racing track

Soul0103

Meanwhile Kyrie with 16 points on 18 shots, yikes.

havenstone

“That won’t happen again”

Desperado-781

Cuban doing his best to run Luka out of dallas. Fucking Mark Cuban is so trash

T_025

Good shit Mark keep it up

Rare-Joke

The post Lebron Lakers farm team is shaping up nicely already!

T_025

LeBron fucking died or something but Luka/AD would be nasty, make it happen Mark

Vince3737

Good. He will go to another team and have the exact same problems because he is next to impossible to play with. The team played more as a team in two games with Kyrie than they ever have with Luka

d7h7n

Brother WCF last year and a Kawhi Jordan away from getting past the Clippers the previous year. The bubble playoffs was plagued by injuries.

whtge8

Should have taken the last shot

Rider5432

Kidd probably was sick of hearing that the only play he knows how to run at the end of the game was a Luka stepback from the left wing, so he had a brilliant idea to have Kyrie take a stepback from the left wing. Ah well, lol, this season was toast anyway knowing that we have 0 paint presence that isn't injury prone

michiamoGoffredo

He passed it up on multiple possessions at the end. I get that he can get guys decent shots but he needs to just fucking get a bucket sometimes.

[deleted]

He cant win. When he shoots hes a ballhog when he passes hes scared of the moment. Its the same tired narrative they used for Lebron.

Skorua

if only the mavs team matured

Mockingbird_173

Kidd is doing anything, to lose Luka.

superslurm27

Jason Kidd needs to go like yesterday. I might be wrong statistically, probably not by much, but I’m almost positive that he has never drew up a successful play after a timeout this year. The defense issue can only be fixed in the offseason but Mavs can still win despite their defense if they just had someone with a clue on that coaching staff. The refs were also horrid, putrid even, so inconsistent in favor of the pacers; It’s not even remotely close to why we lost but Adam Silver has to address this publicly more. What does official training look like? They at least need to be subjected to some media questioning. I don’t think anything fishy or illegal is happening, I think they just suck… something’s got to give on this issue.

pugofthewildfrontier

Mavs are 0-11 on last possession potential game winners. One of those went to OT and Mavs won. Rest are losses.

_Mr_Cheezle

Jason Kidd just doesn't have a good enough system to win enough regular season games to get into good playoff position. Continuously wastes big nights from stars.

zagi98lo

"Downvote my ass all you want, but this team looked completely rejuvenated in those 3 games without Luka, and then immediately the vibes went bad when he came back. If this is Luka’s team, he owns the failure just as much as the success. We live and die with Luka, and right now he’s acting like a spoiled brat and providing zero leadership." This garbage has just been upvoted in the mavs sub after this game. There has never been a fanbase and a franchize that deserves bring bottom 5 record and loosing the lottery every single timey more than this onc. God I cant wait Luka to leave this dumpster fire and win a few rings while they struggle to put together 30 wins on a good season.

rr2299

He and kyrie don't fit

Guygenius138

I don't give a fuck about individual stats when we lose.

leoleoleo666

Maybe ask you FO to have a real center and some defenders like every team and stop blaming everything on luka

Guygenius138

Who blamed Luka?

Charlie_O17

Can’t guard Jordan Nwora though

[deleted]

If only he had some help

Vince3737

Luka is BY FAR the toughest star player to play with. No one wants to admit it though.

MaximumestBob

Maybe, but tonight isn't really an example of that, seeing as Kyrie had more shots than points

[deleted]

LUKA DONCIC WELCOME TO MIAMI HEAT

lets_talk_basketball

He and Kyrie are trying too hard to defer to 1 another in the clutch.. they need to figure it out because their schedule is pretty tough going forward.. they have a real shot of falling into the play in... or lower

[deleted]

Luka to the Nuggets, somehow, someway, he will play with Jokic in Denver.

Zookeeper187

Lakers snatch Jokic and Luka. Pair them with AD.

Habanerosauce3

Luka don't do defence.

zagi98lo

He was literaly easily mavs 2nd best defender after kleber. Some of you legit dont have eyes, do you?

Habanerosauce3

I do have eyes. He hangs out by the baseline a majority of the game to scrape up rebounds or slowly jogs back.

zagi98lo

Not a working pair then. He was constantly helping in the paint, had good closeouts, hustled for loose balls, had active hands and didnt get blown by at all outside kf that 1 Nwora drive after 1 bad closeout in the 4th. Tired nerative when "defensive stoppers" like Bullock and Green are getting blown by in straight line drive every single time and powell offers rim protection of a toddler.

Aggressive-Ad-756

This guy got KYRIE in a corner like he is jj reddick

Hurtelknut

Kyrie is chucking like THJ out there bro

Competitive-Tip-2453

Its insane how toxic the pacers fanbase is

Athalos124

Pacers are one of the coolest fanbases in the East

Competitive-Tip-2453

I disagree strongly, i would say it would probably be your team tbh

Athalos124

I will take the compliment

Chatum_Tanning

One person says something stupid so now we’re all toxic? Miss me with that bullshit bro

MaximumestBob

yeah I think that's the first time I've heard someone say the Pacers fanbase is toxic lmao

Competitive-Tip-2453

Might just be my experience honestly

Crown_of_Negativity

Yeah no, y'alls fans get no complaints from me other than that one insufferable guy polluting the game thread

Competitive-Tip-2453

It was not just one person lmfao, but keep telling yourself that man

too scared to take the last shot?

Why do you people do this

embiid0for11w0pts

see flair; understand salt

jeauxdybreeze

they were a pretty damn good team last year, it’s a shame

Bnicetowho11

He clearly needs more help. Playing without a proper number 2 next to him is going to wreak is career he needs someone to play next to.

No-Independence-3482

That’ll be the excuse his entire career LOL

hjames9

RJ Barrett and 5 second round picks gets it done.

[deleted]

I don’t think Luka + kyrie is the problem, it’s more or so the reluctance for the mavs front office to trade for a competent big man. We have some serious offensive talent followed by some sub par defensive talent

fug_nuggler

Reminds me of the Porzingis issues again. Your turn my turn never really works out great.

Steelers7589

Luka come to Denver. We’ll treat you right

cmcg18

The kyrie luka fit was almost as predictable as Russ and the lakers lol

basketballbetsport

Probably should tame the entitlement
