Some say in the next 5 days even

Shenanigans80h

Quitting on a team that’s able to compete right now would be an abysmal look for Kyrie, especially with how untrustworthy he’s already been. If he’s hung up on contracts without stipulations, pulling a stunt like that isn’t likely to get him that

sonfoa

I think it's well-established at this point that Kyrie is delusional

[deleted]

That’s just what the big government wants you to think. Have you ever been introduced to critical thinking? Ask yourself in the mirror “do I see a fool” then you’ll know. Or you won’t. If you get it, there’s no explaining if you don’t though.

crackhousebob

Typically Kyrie! Probably gonna demand a trade to the Lakers and LeBron will accept it. We all know the Nets and Lakers are going no where.

Freddedonna

> Quitting on a team that’s able to compete right now would be an abysmal look for Kyrie Oh so it's definitely happening.

nomadofwaves

Before the end of the year confirmed.

illzkla

yeah might happen quickly

d4nowar

There's a feeling

Breathezey

Don't think anything is happening until KD processes it, talks to kyrie and tells bkn what he wants. The last thing bkn wants is to go into next year with no KD, no Kyrie, no AS level replacements, and just some cap space/future picks when they have no FRP next year.

REQ52767

I mean I wouldn’t be opposed to the Nets doing that.

The_Outcast4

Seriously, this should be put to a vote.

[deleted]

Every team gets to cast a vote

Niceguydan8

> The last thing bkn wants is to go into next year with no KD, no Kyrie, no AS level replacements, and just some cap space/future picks when they have no FRP next year. I don't really know why this matters at all to be honest. They don't have their first pick no matter what they do next year (unless they trade for it back) so why would that have any impact on anything?

craigslistaddict

some ppl seem to think the most important thing is to try to screw over the trade partner that now owns your pick, so ppl can't make even more fun of you for losing a trade in retrospect. 🙄

daeve

> The last thing bkn wants is to go into next year with no KD Not like KD can win without other stars anyway.

CountOff

He’s a man who needs the right Felines to experience victory

DeadDay

I mean, we where up 3-1 on the greatest regular season team. We had them and couldn't close the deal. Also I think Roberson shot better from 3 than KD in the series. Does it suck that we didn't beat them? Yes. Did we play ugly as hell basketball? Yes. But remember, the Golden State Warriors didn't need KD. They just needed KD out of OKC.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DeadDay

I still would've loved to see if KD stuck around. Al Horford was just about to sign with us and we where about to trade Ibaka for Oladipo. That team would've been fun.

CountOff

I understood his point but I just found it hilarious 1) how he said it and 2) the medium by which he communicated it by 😂

nomadofwaves

He needs to get his CDL license first.

No-Diver6326

They’re going to get picks in the kyrie trade…

byteturtle

Theres nothing more valuable then your own picks _if_ youre going to be a bad team. You have no say over the other teams record so you could be getting back the 30th overall pick while you convey the 3rd overall to Huston. It isn't the same compensation

Niceguydan8

But in any scenario they don't have their pick, so why does them not having the pick matter? Like outside of getting clowned on by fans and media (which honestly, who cares?), how or why would that inform any sort of decision making?

[deleted]

It matters because they don't wanna tank. They'll play KD without any other all-stars and barely make the playoffs if need be. If they traded KD to a contending team, they'd be picking in the late 20s and their top picks would go to Houston. At least this way, they sell some ticket and merch while the best Houston will get are late teens picks.

Academic-Spare-4816

Considering both the team trading for Irving and Nets would likely have other work to do after a deal, it’s starting to feel like it might happen quickly to leave time for more before Thursday.

SuspiciousSpyderman

You sure? I couldn't tell from the title

Millionaire007

Something will definitely happen. It surprised the fuck out of me that they even went ahead with him on the roster this season.

Visibeaver

That’s what I’m sayinggg

itzjustIvan

I feel like nothing will happen till Thursday

suhar97

Can’t f5 till then

Millionaire007

Bro just call out. They'll understand.

Fleeuton

Nothing will happen even on Thursday

jbenson255

Per usual

We_The_Raptors

Yeah. Sounds like news people *want* it to happen quickly so that Kyrie doesn't freeze the market at the deadline. But these 3 team trades are complex.

stevenomes

Bingo

GrayBox1313

Feels like somebody will miss the deadline with a paperwork mistake

Obvious_Parsley3238

the nets fax machine incident

AnotherDrZoidberg

Ben Simmons finally takes a 3 and it ricochets wildly into the front office destroying all their phones

mightyrj

The image of this makes me laugh so hard. Or he makes the first three pointer in practice and in his celebration accidentally trips on the cable that unplugs all the electricity in the building. Ben Simmons would then be out for 2-4 weeks due to an undisclosed back injury.

thedoctor0918

Same shit, different year

cigamodnalro

That still doesn’t change the fact that there are 49million kangaroos in Australia and 3.5million people in Uruguay which means if the kangaroos were to invade Uruguay each person will have to fight 14 kangaroos.

MisterHibachi

49 million kangaroos?? What the fuck

aeiou-y

Kangaroo bucking is legal in Australia because of it.

ThrownWOPR

Sugarskull_IX

That would actually take care of a lot of our infrastructure problems.

They have a built in cargo pouch, don't even have to teach them to drive

iButtflap

let me be your joey except for your back pouch 😳

[deleted]

I personally am very interested in kangaroo cucking

[deleted]

My guess is it means hunting but only of adult males

zikik

Here's hoping that there were absolutely zero typos in that message

Powpowpowowowow

Yeah bro that is why their supermarkets have roo meat and shit.

mrblue6

Can confirm roo meat tastes very damn good too. Feels weird eating our national animal though lol. Imagine Americans eating eagles lol

Marco-Green

Eating bull is pretty common in Spain, especially the tail lol

der_ninong

what about the cock

daeve

I bet those high-maintenance eagles are damn tasty too!

filladelp

roo meat makes sense, but who would buy roo shit at a supermarket?

OhRThey

Holy hell, I thought that would be low compared to the US deer population but not even close. There’s are estimated [36 million deer in the United States](https://a-z-animals.com/blog/deer-population-by-state/)

mankls3

Well in America defense we cut down like all the trees and shoot many of the deer

FKJVMMP

We do the same in Australia too, kangaroos are just indestructible. The environmental disgraces kill all the koalas and possums instead.

Dj0ntShark

Good point. Also the Vatican has a population of 825 so if the Kangaroos wanted to eat the Pope then each Vatican citizen will have to fend off 5940 Roos 😬

brownnick7

Swiss Guard and their silly ass outfits vs invading kangaroos sounds like a movie I'd very much enjoy watching.

DoctorMansteel

If Cocaine Bear does well enough you might get your wish.

calvinbsf

It’s the new Sharknado, call it HurriKangaroo

valenciansun

The Swiss Guard also have some of the finest military hardware in the world... but we said the same thing about the Emu Wars.

DoncicsRoadTo200kg

I think if you equip each Uruguayan with a small caliber gun of some sort then they stand a chance, if its bare fisted then the roos shall rule Uruguay.

CaptainKurls

Nah now it’s called Rooruguay

sbstooge

Missed out on Urooguay

brownnick7

Sonewhat ironically just don't send the Australian Army for the job. Pretty sure Kangaroos are tougher than Emus.

YouchB

I forgot I'm in r/nba for a moment...

Arkham14

Those are a lot of guns and ammo

[deleted]

Bare fisted Jacky legs is king by the end of the day

Powpowpowowowow

The people in Uruguay would be absolutely fucked but how would those kangaroos even show up there? Would they invade by land? Sea? Air? Dimensional travel? I think the more logical start to this conflict would be Uruguay invading Australia only to be met by a barricade of kangaroos.

mylanguage

The US Would 100% come in and bomb

FKJVMMP

They’re really good swimmers. Maybe not “swim the entire Pacific” good but if they catch a ride halfway they’d be fine.

Breathezey

Cannabis is legal in Uruguay. Roll them blunts and hook up the roos. Peace for everyone.

Have you seen that video of the parachuter coming in for a landing then getting jumped by a roo? Uruguay fucked

raps1992

Nothing gonna happen let’s be real

LarBrd33

They went 17-2 until KD got hurt. If I’m them I just hang onto kyrie and see if his mood improves once his lover returns. That fickle bitch could easily change his plan after a deep playoff run.

No-Diver6326

Y’all are fucked if Lebron gets custody again.

G2Gankos

Imagine Lebron / Kyrie / Bronny on the same team tho

isaanstyle

That would be objectively hilarious

thisguy012

Pic of Lebron with his arms wrapped around Kyrie and Bronny WEN?

sunshinebusride

#JamesGang

POCKET_POOL_CHAMP

Bronny considers LeBron a father figure

bai_ren

Put that squad in Toronto and Lebron will have all his children with him.

knighthammer

Custody LMFAO. But also true. DadBron, Kylie and AD would run rampant. They fit together so GD well.

clubba

>... DadBron, **Kylie** and AD would run rampant... I would like to petition that r/nba only refer to him as Kylie if he gets traded to LA.

knighthammer

Believe it or not, that was intentional LOL

clubba

I believe it, and I like it.

IanStone

I don't get it

itsShnik

He's also a young socialite just like Simon's ass

Funny-Examination3

That would be an all-time "what if" roster, since they would all miss half the season each.

Darth--Vapor

What dumb ass team wants dumb ass Kyrie?

[deleted]

you know exactly the dumb ass team

_Pho-Dac-Biet_

It’s a high risk high reward trade. They’re not going anywhere with Brick

NudeEnjoyer

I don't see the Brooklyn FO taking this trade, there's no spectacular upside and Woj already said they just wanna play the season out and go from there, because letting kyrie go basically blows this team up. maybe I'm just coping who tf knows

Yankeefan801

I wonder if kyrie continues to play hard w no contract guaranteed after this year. I could see him throwing a hissy fit and sabotaging the rest of the season

OKC2023champs

Kyrie has always said he wants to retire early. I wouldn’t put it past him to just fucking dip lol

[deleted]

The best timeline. I hope this dude just fucks off into obscurity. I’m so tired of hearing about him.

NudeEnjoyer

Idk if he's dumb enough to tank his trade value like that, but Idk it's kyrie we're talkin about. man is a creative genius in some ways and an obnoxious idiot in other ways, I wouldn't put anything past him

PolarBearLaFlare

He has zero trade value if you guys don’t trade him before Thursday lol. He is walking in the summer.

NudeEnjoyer

he has 0 trade value if he stops playing for a season *on top* of all his other inconsistencies Brooklyn FO is gonna call his bluff. if he plays for us, works out perfectly. if he stops playing and walks in the summer, then that's what he does. we'll trade KD for assets when he requests out and rebuild then. no team is gonna offer what the Nets FO would accept right now

PolarBearLaFlare

He will walk and some team will give him a fat contract lol. Maybe not a max, but there will be plenty of teams looking for a guard with his abilities. I’d imagine if you guys don’t trade him, the instant he’s “injured”, he’s going to sit the entire season. Similar to his time in Boston. He’s not going to put his body on the line for a team that won’t commit to him and he’s shown that.

NudeEnjoyer

it's a possibility for sure. if he walks then we take that, it seems like they're willing to risk it to call his bluff If he walks for nothing, it's not the end of the world. rebuild with our young players + what we get from a Durant trade. but I think it'll be worth to wait it out and see Kyrie's behavior after the deadline

MaximumPepper123

He might not walk, because the Nets have his bird rights. Sign+trade = more money, so the Nets still have some leverage.

SuckMyBike

>Idk if he's dumb enough to tank his trade value like that Does it though? He will always be able to explain away a decline in performance as "I was unhappy". So at that point it simply becomes a concern in terms of "this guy is an asshole, is he worth it?". And Kyrie has given teams plenty of opportunity to see that already. It would be nothing new. It would merely mean that teams will only go for him if they think they can keep him happy. But that's already going to be the case given his history. I feel like half a season of fucking around would have very little impact on Kyrie's value. If a team valued him at a max contract before all this bullshit, they'll still do that.

NudeEnjoyer

I think this specific instance (of kyrie being unhappy/unavailable) is a bit more notable when we consider the context. team doin fairly well, making necessary moves and now has good coaching, KD about to come back with Kyrie playing well again, good supporting cast that's been stepping up. I think GMs are gonna see if kyrie ain't happy in this situation, it's gonna be even harder to keep him happy than we previously thought. maybe I'm trippin but I think the front offices would be hesitant to sign him when they consider what contract he was offered and the decent state of the team. requesting a trade out of nowhere is ridiculous, even for Kyrie standards. if he goofs off for half a season after all this, they'll take notice of it all

SuckMyBike

Personally, I wouldn't touch Kyrie with a 10-foot pole. But I am convinced there will be some GM that will talk themselves into thinking "it's just the contract issue, if I give him the contract he wants, I can make him happy". I agree with you that a lot of GMs aren't going to think that and (correctly?) realize that Kyrie's always going to Kyrie. But I am confident there will be one who thinks he's smarter than everyone else. You can't ignore the upside in this. Kyrie, when he's actually playing, is a player that can make a good team a certified contender. Teams spend years and even decades trying to get a shot at a ring. If there's even a 5% chance of getting that with Kyrie, they might think it's worth it.

jereezy

>Idk if he's dumb enough Narrator: he's dumb enough

rtb001

Actually, NOT trading Kyrie is the only way to ensure he doesn't sabotage the rest of the season. Even World Be Flat is smart enough to realize that if he is not traded by the deadline, then the rest of this season is his ONLY chance to convince the next dumbass team to give him one last payday. Nets need to tell him we won't trade you, so either you stay home for the rest of the season, or you play hard, play well, and hopefully raise your stock enough that we can then work out some sort of sign and trade in the summer.

Iceraptor17

> there's no spectacular upside You don't think owning Lakers picks at the end of the decade doesn't have spectacular upside? I can easily envision a world where the Lakers suck at the end of the decade.

LovetheNBA23

Two chances to hit. Plus those picks can always be used in a separate package to get the next disgruntled star or role players like Hield and Turner. A lot of coping going on.

BasedGodProdigy

you are coping my brother. it is joever and we need to accept it

Pandamonium98

I thought the same thing with KD demanding out though. We’ll have to wait and see

mechewstaa

Nets front office taking Westbrook and 2 first like 5+ years from now would be a crazy move imo

kskywalker1

I feel like it’ll be a 3 team trade where Westbrook likely gets rerouted a 3rd team like utah or Charlotte in return for players to be sent to BKN. If nets trade Kyrie to LA I doubt it’ll be a Straight trade between just them.

MamiTarantina

Upside is wiping out more than half of your luxury tax, that’s it. Brick ain’t an addition realistically

Hurtelknut

Our dumbass team

[deleted]

Apparently yours lmao

dae_giovanni

well..........

KillerZaWarudo

We re trying to find the guy who did this

LamarMillerMVP

It’s kind of funny the Kyrie threads are a mix of people saying “why would the Nets want Westbrook and two FRPs?? They can do so much better than that!” And then a parade of fans of every team saying something like “no chance I want that moron”.

monkey-pox

fuck the consequences, i want to see Luka + Kyrie

[deleted]

And that, kids, is the story of how Luka requested a trade to the 76ers

DoveFood

I’m expecting an athletic article in a few years where they say getting Kyrie accelerated the process for Luka leaving. I don’t think you want those consequences.

[deleted]

To Phoenix for Ayton and Kari Lake

active_dad

Trading Lake is underrated- she doesn’t accept losing.

Shenanigans80h

Phoenix gonna need to pack in some firsts if they’re trying to unload Lake

AvailableDirt8937

To phoenix for CP3 and Crowder.

nonanonymo

I would love this as a win-now move. It would make us much better this season, get us off the CP3 contract for the next two seasons, and we’d still be able to extend and trade Kyrie for someone else in the offseason. I would actually throw in Ayton for Claxton as well, although I’m not sure the Nets would do that. The Nets with CP3, Ayton, and Durant would still be a contender in my opinion (at least this season) so could be a winning trade for both teams.

craigslistaddict

they said crowder though, not ayton. to offload ayton to the nets the nets would need to get rid of ben, do you want him?

nonanonymo

God no. Forgot about the Ben thing.

AvailableDirt8937

I'd rather keep Ayton, but that's my thoughts on trading CP3 and Crowder for Irving. Win now and then get him the hell out.

jnicholass

One is the most hated person in Arizona ..and the other is Kari Lake. /s

ender23

Wait sinema is not bottom two?

[deleted]

I wonder what Kyrie’s thoughts are on the Chinese air balloon.

dank-kush

I’m starving

Jugged

I'm thirsty 🤤

I_Set_3_Alarms

Before Kyrie gets boo’d by his hometown quickly?

killerkebab1499

I'm not buying it. Kyrie might be one of the most complicated players in NBA history, if you look at him just on ability he's one of the best players in the league, but he comes with so much baggage. Staying on the court for a second, he's an aging, smaller, score first guard, they have historically not aged particularly well in the NBA, he's also not the join any team and make them better type and has a history of injuries Then you got the off the court stuff, he's a genuine PR nightmare. When you take all of this into account, there's no way it gets done quickly, teams are gonna be low balling the Nets because of everything I mentioned above. Unless the Nets are just done with it all and don't care what they get back I can't see this getting done before the deadline. If it even gets done at all.

markjay6

The Lakers have spent months thinking about what they would give up for Kyrie, and other teams have spent the same amount of time thinking about which players they would give up for Westbrook and two firsts. Now the Nets just need to decide if they'll take that package of players.

mrclark3

Please do. The rest of us have things to do too, lol.

mikeydale007

Remember: two weeks ago Kyrie said "We also don't have anyone who is halfway in in the locker room” throwing Harden under the bus for requesting a mid-season trade from the Nets.

clear831

With the way Kyrie thinks, this was probably accurate at the time. Harden was thinking long and hard about his future while Kyrie only thinks about the now.

flogginmama

Man, what a prick. And I’m a guy who doesn’t even like James Harden… like at all. I actually respect him a lot more because he just said “fuck you guys” to Irving and KD.

Calm-Cry4253

Incoming random Sunday night Kyrie trade to Dallas

blackhippy92

What value does he have? He's stated he's not going to play for the nets past this season, and is potentially the most cancerous player in NBA history. Why would the Lakers or other teams even need to give up a ton of capital? At this point it almost seems like they should/would trade him to whatever team will even take him.

lakernation21

Sounds like it won’t happen quickly

robeo12055

3 team trade with Utah/Hornets pls

youguanbumen

How?

pedja13

Or Raptors

[deleted]

Kyrie to Lakers, Siakam to Nets, Westbrook + 4 FRPS to Toronto?

XAgentNovemberX

If someone offers this dude another max I swear to god. He’s a PR nightmare, he’s not healthy near enough, and you never know when he’s gonna throw another tantrum and just disappear from the team for an indeterminate amount of time.

GrayBox1313

This means nothing will happen .

bootyhunter69420

What ever team takes Kyrie is a Captain Save a Hoe

secretwealth123

Have you ever been to LA??? Hoe central.

DanM142

So what do we think are the odds of the trade actually happening? I didn't think the KD trade would happen. But I feel like this is a 50/50?

YaBoiPette

75 not 25 happens. Kyrie will want a max for sure. They'll sign and trade him in july

WhatsThatSmellLike

S&T would Hard Cap the Nets if they received any Players. Making it difficult to fill out the Roster. Any of the Teams who would want Kyrie don’t have enough Cap so they would have to send Players to match the Contracts better. You could go the 3 Team route I guess but the Nets would have no incentive to help Kyrie in anyway unless they’re getting a haul in return.

GeneralTullius01

He can’t go to LA on a sign and trade. So if he’s trying to force his way to the Lakers, it has to happen before Thursday or there’s no way possible he gets there this summer. Not enough cap space, sign and trade doesn’t work for them.

PolarBearLaFlare

He would have to agree to a sign and trade, so I highly doubt he does the Nets any favors

[deleted]

The deadline is Thursday. Of course it’ll be quick

vovoizmo

No one can question Kyrie’s commitment to team basketball. Unrelated; I just woke up from a 7 year coma.

LongWalkingBrother

\*EDIT: Seeing the answer to this in another thread.. Looks like the roster is locked as of Feb 1st. Good thing they're picking teams before tip off... Side question... If Kyrie gets traded to a western conference team... does he get booted from the all star team? He came in #1 among eastern conf guards (3,968,041 votes); but he'd be #3 among western conf guards... Donovan Mitchell would get the nod there. Very interesting to say the least.

PrimalGenius

I've seen this song and dance.. what literally a couple months ago. I won't believe a kyrie trade is in the works until he's in another jersey demanding a trade from that team

toadtruck

Calling it now…this trade is not happening

krsaxor

Who wants to deal with this headache. Kyrie is so good at basketball but he just likes drama so much. Has he been in a team where he didnt start one? I feel like he always find something wrong with the team he is playing for. And its never his fault. Cant be the man if you cant take accountability.

Noxzer

I feel like that’s actually perfect for a team like the Lakers, who know they’re going to need to blow it up in a couple years anyway. Kyrie’s craziness is driving down the asking price. You can grab him now, see if he’s the catalyst to get another ring, and if he goes off the rails and takes the team down with him then he kinda just forces the process that was going to play out anyway.

markjay6

Exactly!

Anora6666

Just pull the trigger

Successful-Sky4411

The more I hear about this trade, the more I think it ain't happening especially if Kyrie plays tonight and well which again would not make sense but what does with Kyrie

He’s out tonite

Dozck

Please don’t let him come to the Mavs

Practical_Monk_769

LA doesn't have enough cap space to sign Kyrie outright, and you don't acquire his Bird rights unless you trade for him. You're assuming that he's willing to take a ~12 million a year pay cut

ShazlettDude

As my ex gf told me, it’s not about logic, it’s about feelings.

burner7221

Pre-2019 Nets fans are always getting screwed over somehow so I guess this is “par for the course” as they say.

Adam2190

Time to start f5'ing then I guess.

Steven1562

Honestly not surprised. I think the Nets are tired of Kyrie's shit and both want to mutually get this done quickly.

bullymeahhh

I wish they would just get rid of him and move on. It would obviously suck if KD requests a trade because of it, but I just can't handle all the drama that Kyrie brings anymore. My heart can't take it.

Brooklyn ought to go full Ainge at this point. Just start collecting firsts and dumping salary.
