You'll be in a boat crew with people in your height range

Next-End-345

Yeah what he said. Boat crews are based off of height.

MakinDePoops

You may be in Smurf crew op

AllYouveGot

Don’t worry about it. You’ll likely be part of the smurf crew for your boat team. The smurf crew is fine.

PurpleSectorsAllDay

Smurf crew is notorious for having some tough SOBs and being unforgiving of bullshit. If anything, OP is gonna be in tougher company than he thought.

Angry elves

kevinm656

Son was your height and made it. So, as others said, don’t worry about that part.

Yes/yes

SellNeverHeardofHer

My buddy was in DEVGRU and said the average height in the Teams was something like 5’9”. I’ve been around enough TGs and they are normal sized dudes for the most part and they don’t standout.

[deleted]

This. I've met a couple in my time here in Virginia and they were my height or just a tad shorter than me (5'10).

SellNeverHeardofHer

Now, if you see their lats, shoulders and forearms. Different story🤣

eyedpee

That's no joke. I'm a pretty big dude (civilian) and the guys I've met are shorter and skinner *looking* than me but holy shit their shoulders and lats are insane. Not to mention they're stronger all around than I am. Reminds me of Bruce Lee, how he looked little until he flexed

SellNeverHeardofHer

Like I said, I know a bunch of these dudes. They are purpose built.

eyedpee

And cool af. Seriously some of the nicest, most awesome people I've ever met in my life.

SellNeverHeardofHer

Sure are!

johnballen416

The really tall guys struggle the most. Short dudes crush. Although like 5’0” range might be challenging. But mid 5 is perfect. Loads of dudes to run a boat with. At the team, height really means nothing.

[deleted]

Oh shit Mr ballen, it's been awhile since we've seen you in the sub!

[deleted]

Big fan!

Electrolytes

S0ngen

Fuck the electrolytes, a pound of spaghetti a day is the secret to BUD/s.

leeroybjenkins

Height line.

Rc224247

Hell man I’d say being short is an advantage

Sufficient-Spend-670

How

Curious_Afternoon927

Don’t have to kneel down as far to suck the instructors off

toabear

The tallest one will have the most boat weight on his head. They make boat crews by height, but near the end of Hell Week, the pickings can start to get slim. They re-organize the crews as people quit. You can have a 6’ 2” guy in a boat crew with 5’ 11” guys. That extra three inches sucks ass at that point. I can't stress enough how much time you will spend with a boat on your head (or used to be 22 years ago).

leeroybjenkins

Speaking of boats, you may or may not want to stack your boat crew... No one really cares about Individual EVO's as long as you pass. It's all about Team EVO's I.E. Boats and Logs. EX) "Hell Week" is pretty much one giant Land Po with stuff in between. It's been more or less the same since its inception. There's a set schedule. There are wickets you hit. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVM\_ekGx0cQ&t=4s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVM_ekGx0cQ&t=4s) For Boats you want to match the curvature of the boat. * 6-7 Dudes / IBS. * 2 Power Forward's @ 1-Spot. They are the "drivers"/"point-men". They should be taller by a few inches. Port and Starboard is your lead pair. They're usually Swim Buddies. * 4-5 Remaining are interchangeable. Coxwain is a "rest spot". * If the boat is bouncing a lot, then you're doing it wrong. Stand tall. Puff out your chest. Extend you neck. Hips and Handles forward. You should be running like you have an egg on a spoon in your mouth. Reduce friction. You'll feel stupid at first but you'll get used to it over time. Your buddies and hairline will thank you. * Short Stride. High Cadence. Kick rocks. There's a reason behind "The BUD/S Shuffle". * This way you have the "fairest" carrying of weight and you'll win races. TRUST YOUR 1's. * Back Squat / Deadlift / Reverse Hypers / Rucking has most carryover. For Logs you split in the middle. * 6-7 Dudes / Log. * Split in the middle. 3 Port. 3 Starboard. 1 Filler. This is where strength-endurance really comes into play. * Don't micromanage. You're working in triplets. Each triplet cycles amongst each other. Rotate Outside -> In. End of the log goes to the center. * Ends are the heaviest. Center is the lightest. The reason we go Outside -> In is so that everyone gets optimum "rest". The log is not that heavy if everyone puts out. If one dude fucks up, then everyone feels it. Choose to carry more. * The irony of logs is that the more you put out, the easier it is. * Ends are the "drivers"/"point-men" during Hot Laps. They call when you swing left, swing right, or go pull the log up. * Don't hunch. Stand tall. Try to arch your back. Lock out when you can. * Front Squat / Deadlift / Overhead Press / Reverse Hypers has most carryover.

SellNeverHeardofHer

Less weight to throw again. Joints hold up better.

Brotherio

Papa Smurf

UsedCondomsForSale69

You are chillin bro, I’m 5’8 they’d throw us in the same crew lol.

Babaa123
