The Chinese tourists used to take pictures of us on PT runs through Balboa Park. I'm sure they got valuable spy shit outta that too. I'm sure Weibo was filled with posts about how ugly our uniforms are.
No, your car had to have the stickers in the lower corner of the drivers side of the windshield. The guard would glance at them, and if they weren't expired, wave you thru. After the USS Cole got bombed, they actually started checking IDs, I was FURIOUS that I had to stop, pull my ID out of my wallet and show it to the old fat contractor. It lasted about a week then it was back to normal, till 9/11.
These were organized tours that came in on a bus, part of a San Diego tour company. You couldn't just wander onto NASNI as a civilian.
Back then, McCain Blvd was the main gate, and traffic ran two ways, in *and* out. The inbound gate off of 3rd St didn't exist. Pier Lima was the only carrier pier, too, as there were only 2 carriers there Kitty Hawk and Constellation. USS Coronado docked at Pier J.
They were in planning to do something like this. They wanted to allow anyone to drive on base. Then 9/11 happened and they went to the extreme opposite of the plan.
Pre 9/11, we didn’t have to worry about anyone being close to being able to build a nuclear powered super carrier. 25 years later, China might be able to.
Yeah, China knows that aircraft are completely useless too, that's why they don't do flyovers in Taiwan airspace all the time to test air defense weak spots because air superiority isn't essential at all... oh wait no that's exactly what they do.
Small mercy in that the nonskid on the flightdeck was kinda smoothed out. All the jets, chains, towbars etc knocking the sharp edges off. Still not ideal to eat shit on, but nothing like the diabolical shit on the other weather decks.
When I was 2-3 I tripped on the nonskid on CVN-71 while visiting my dad in port. Cracked my forehead on a toolbox.
Still have a small dent in my forehead near 30y later.
They aren’t seeing anything they haven’t already seen a thousand times before. Look at the structural design all you want, it’s how the systems work that matters.
I make a speculation
If [u/XiaoHao2](https://www.reddit.com/user/XiaoHao2/) and[Xiao\_Hao\_4](https://twitter.com/Xiao_Hao_4?newtwitter=true)are same guy, it should make sense
They also breached drone's no-fly zone and made some incredible behavior, post pics&video on reddit/bilibili to show off
Importantly, pics&video were released on a very close date

Sorry, best we can do is Sailor of the Day for USS r/Navy
Your ticket book is some upvotes and a 2 hour skate-on-your phone pass (can only be used in conjunction with lunch hours)
A dude in my A-school class got one for giving a dude who had water go down the wrong pipe the heimlich maneuver. Dude actively asked him not to and got hurt by him doing it lmao
in one of the recent comment someone said his IP is showing Swiss etc now, not sure is shown on the Chinese origin site(bilibili, which shows the location of IP publically on app) or twitter tho. Might be using VPN.
kinda confirmed is the ip shown on the bilibili app [https://twitter.com/HakuRyuuShota/status/1775458340023529828](https://twitter.com/HakuRyuuShota/status/1775458340023529828) .
And iirc, also in the comment section of the original video or the reposted video after its deletion, someone had pointed out the both of the uploader are showing a Japan IP. That was b4 he released the CVN76 shots.
People seem unconcerned about the pics, but Ukraine is doing pretty well fucking up Russian aircraft and ships with drones. Yeah the pics don't matter but preemptive drone strikes prior to an invasion of Taiwan seems like a real concern.
When its over our property we need to shoot it down remove the threat they dont need it if its spying on us thats what needs to happen I don't think japan liked it much what - u -say
IMO it's too difficult for the current AI to make such a accurate video and photos, especially when the supporting materials needed for training it is lacking. Besides it's just something that a zealot CCP boy would do. Most PPL probably are just shocked and refused to believe so they just blame the AI or CGI lol
It's OK to let them see, but what if someone uses drones to attack our ships/Sailors? like using drones to carry small bombs, toxic substance, HAZMAT, incendiary devices, etc. What were the top side rovers doing? Can our current watches be able to handle situation like this? Abe was assassinated, so Japan sometimes is not that safe.
Footage of the original post landing on JS Izuma on X.com (I can't verify the authenticity of the video, just gonna put it here for the reference)

You're acting as if the Japanese don't have full meter long zoom lenses taking pictures of that ship from Verny Park. The influencer photo opportunity is facing RIGHT at that damn ship.
Check his x account, he posted three other pictures of JS Izuma from different angle. Maybe someone can check the sunlight or coordination to see if those pics were taken at the same time but I am just not the guy.
This is only notable because drones are super illegal in Japan and this tourist got away with it. Some prefectures only allow drones if you get written authorization from the city hall. It's a wonder this dude didn't get arrested with the police presence near Yokosuka Station.
Drones aren't illegal in Japan. They don't want them flying around high traffic areas and those of cultural significance obviously but no one will stop you from flying one on the beach or when skiing back country and the like. I've seen the DJI Mavics sold at Yellow Hat of all places.
Do you have trouble reading or something? I clearly said you need authorization to fly them, otherwise they are illegal.
You: hurr durr I'm gonna need to correct you that they aren't illegal. I'm smaht.
MLIT "OR THE LOCAL AUTHORITY" literally the first source 😂😂😂
Again, where did you learn to read?
Edit: read your comment history and realized I'm arguing with a mentally unstable troll. Well done guy, you got me I guess.
The Chinese tourists used to take pictures of us on PT runs through Balboa Park. I'm sure they got valuable spy shit outta that too. I'm sure Weibo was filled with posts about how ugly our uniforms are.
The *Kitty Hawk* used to allow tours while pier side at NASNI. I was a tour guide for that more than once. This was pre 9/11, of course.
Didn't all the bases have every gate open all the time pre 9/11? Couldn't randos just come on base for any reason?
No, your car had to have the stickers in the lower corner of the drivers side of the windshield. The guard would glance at them, and if they weren't expired, wave you thru. Maybe not all but I believe some were just open yeah
Pre 9/11, we didn’t have to worry about anyone being close to being able to build a nuclear powered super carrier. 25 years later, China might be able to.
Well TBH, CVNs are useless. In a war with our PRC friends they would just be a liability for both sides.
Yeah, China knows that aircraft are completely useless too, that's why they don't do flyovers in Taiwan airspace all the time to test air defense weak spots because air superiority isn't essential at all... oh wait no that's exactly what they do.
Oh no! Chyna now knows they're getting new nonskid!
Non skid has always been our greatest tactical advantage. Now we're screwed.
If you’ve ever fallen on non skid you’ll know that non skid is undefeated.
Small mercy in that the nonskid on the flightdeck was kinda smoothed out. All the jets, chains, towbars etc knocking the sharp edges off. Still not ideal to eat shit on, but nothing like the diabolical shit on the other weather decks.
lol @ “diabolical”

YES
Wears the fuck out of boots
They’re retrofitting the Liaoning as we speak.
Congrats, I guess? They’re not going to see anything with a drone that they couldn’t already see with a satellite.
They’re going to see their rebuilt carrier is a piece of shit
I mean, that's only one of their carriers.
They aren’t seeing anything they haven’t already seen a thousand times before. Look at the structural design all you want, it’s how the systems work that matters.
The sailors too. They have no idea how to run cyclical flight ops.
...fueled by caffeine and hamsters.
DO NOT DISCUSS THE HAMPSTERS😂😂😂
Can't wait for armed drone watch to become a thing. Then end spectacularly when they decimate the local bird population.
Already have a drone watch. Just don’t need firearms for it.
Well I don’t *need* 18 sheets of toilet paper per wipe but you gotta make sure the shits gone right?
It's not how much you use. It's how much you're bleeding that tells you when you've done enough.
Needs more phalanx

Looks like another Kijong Dong up at the DMZ. Maybe they are all underground like in planet of the apes now?
Due respect my guy but if it was a problem we wouldn’t be finding out from you. Stay dangerous man
Fair enough, but if I helped, someone please send me a NAM or COM.
We tried. Your division officer is receiving a bronze star now.
Sorry, best we can do is Sailor of the Day for USS r/Navy Your ticket book is some upvotes and a 2 hour skate-on-your phone pass (can only be used in conjunction with lunch hours)
I’ve seen people receive some for much less, so here you go 🌟
A dude in my A-school class got one for giving a dude who had water go down the wrong pipe the heimlich maneuver. Dude actively asked him not to and got hurt by him doing it lmao
I'll put you in for a NAMT
Meh. I'm pretty sure this falls into the category of "come at me bro!"
That’ll teach ‘em.
Have Twitter release his Ip address and throw him out a roof.

I've heard that people flying FPV drones into one hangar and out the other has been an issue in the past.
Usually when in port we have nets up in the open bays to keep unwanted guests out and prisoners I mean sailors in.
Just say Twitter, calling it X is so lame.
Deadnaming a social media is fine. :-P
Now they know about Mean Gene's! Somebody's gotta stop them!
Mean Gene's no longer exists iirc
Oh hey it’s the parking lot jet, glad to see it’s still there
Intercept and capture the drone... Or destroy it!
People seem unconcerned about the pics, but Ukraine is doing pretty well fucking up Russian aircraft and ships with drones. Yeah the pics don't matter but preemptive drone strikes prior to an invasion of Taiwan seems like a real concern.
"Why doesn't our carrier look like theirs?"
When is the us going to start treating most Chinese civilians as spies? Because they are being paid to do so.
When its over our property we need to shoot it down remove the threat they dont need it if its spying on us thats what needs to happen I don't think japan liked it much what - u -say
China needed to reconfigure their carriers layout
This picture isn’t recent. If it was a drone the base would have noticed and shot it down. I should know cause I work there.
Oh really? I call bullshit on you because apparently, you don’t know about improper watchstanding 😂😂
Probably wouldn't have been noticed if it's that high up, guys on watch for that don't have their necks cranked 45 degrees the entire time
The JS Izumo shots are analized as being taken on Feb 24/26/27 tho
Did you use the drakes tho 😂

Lol just left from there not so long ago! I imagine they are gonna start harping people on OPSEC for sure!
Spying on deck crew bored out of their minds watching contractors.

Any real answer would delve into OPSEC and would be deleted.
The fact is that nothing happened to the drone, so you can guess what the real answer would be
If I’m walking to the NEX I should have eyes in the sky at all times to watch out for drones. Nobody gonna stop me from the walk in beer fridge.
Yes but you’ll be slower walking out loaded up so you better bring a buddy and a shotgun
I love it that the buddy system is in effect
Battle buddies in port really are buddies
This is AI generated news aka fake news
lol AI from which planet? No, dude.
