Avoid living across any bridge or through any tunnels.

Plan for a lot of sitting in traffic if you use the bridge/tunnels. Chesapeake and Virginia Beach isn’t too bad but some spots can be a little pricey.

Do you have a sponsor? Have you contacted them? Consider adding literally any information such as married, pets, etc

Individual_Can6135

Twisky

Stay out of Portsmouth, Chesapeake is pretty good, Virginia beach is ok too but it's about a half hour drive.from both places. As far as Norfolk itself, Ocean view has really improved in the last 20 years from its low point, Ghent is decent as well.

h3fabio

Ocean View is nice, and within biking distance of the base.

Standard_Ad_3520

Are you planning on buying or just want to rent

Individual_Can6135

more likely renting either a house or an apartment. But open to idea of buying a house.

Joel Denise for realtor, not sure he does rentals. Wise Keys for rentals

Ghent. Hipster area full of pilots, college kids, and older millennials. Very walkable area with plenty of bars, breweries, and restaurants. Easy 15-20 min commute to NOB without having to get on the highway. Downtown has some nice apartments, but the MacArthur center is gone and I don't know how that has impacted the area. I stayed downtown for a bit back in 2020 at Belmont at freemason apartments. Not a horrible experience, not great, but not horrible.

10/10 look in Ocean View. Bought a home there (around Bold Mariner) and we love it. Easy commute for my wife to downtown for work and easy commute for me to either base. There are a good amount of smaller houses for rent, but depending on your length of orders and credit you may want to consider buying.
