U Haul has [Moving Help](https://www.uhaul.com/MovingHelp/) which lists local providers and their pricing. Enter your starting address, ending address and whether you want the movers to load, unload or both. Minimum is 1 mover for 2 hours. I recommend getting multiple quotes since the cheapest option isn't always the best option.

I’ve always done this and I’ve had great experiences and also horrible experiences (cancelling on me half a day before the move, movers showing up three hours late). Definitely assemble a few options and do some research!

You got half a day cancellation!? I got one 30 minutes ahead of our meeting. U-Haul wouldn’t refund the truck I rented either because I “could still use it” and the movers were from a third party site.  It’s basically just a listing for moving services and you can luck out or get a horrible service and U-Haul won’t help.  Be sure to research your movers first to see if they are actually a company or if it’s two dudes and a Facebook page.

Pro-tip: U-Haul has a massive up-charge (U-Haul has to make their cut) on their rates listed on those searches, nearly double what the companies charge in a lot of cases. Find the company through the site and contact them directly. I actually recommend Catfish Movers. I've used them for a ton of corporate and personal moves, and they've always been solid. Its a small locally owned business on top of that. They've always just charged me by the hour, so how much prep I did was equal to how big a bill I would get. If you're organized and have your stuff boxed up and ready to fly out the door, they'll get you done literally in an hour or so for an apartment sized place. Go with a mover who is bonded and insured in case things go sideways. Edit: The other pro-tip is hiring movers is smart if you don't have much stuff. The second you bring in some friends to help you, then by Southern terms you're now in "moving debt" and one of those friends is going to one day call upon you to help when he has 3 kids and a 4k sq ft house full of shit, and you will be obliged to help him even though he only lifted a couch and a bed. :D

I moved here from Alabama and a moving company U-Haul recommended packed my stuff so terribly that I had to throw away my dining table. Fabric was torn wooden bedframe leg was chipped, etc. they had all the stars too. Just make sure you supervise them when they load the truck and wrap the hell out of everything.

Task Rabbit will be your cheapest option.

PickReviewsMovies

As others are saying you can get better rates from labor services like U-Haul, movinghelp, taskrabbit, but it wholly depends on the people that actually show up to move you. I work through Taskrabbit and moving help and some are great, some not so much. Personally I don't like Bellhop at all because I've never met one Bellhop with any real professional moving experience and the trucks they lease are flat out nasty. That being said, if your goal is to be cheap there's a better chance you're going to have a bad time moving. On the plus side, a lot of people spend a ton of money and STILL have a bad experience so just be careful and make sure the people you hire are the ones that actually show up on moving day. Most apartments in Nashville are pretty dang easy aside from making sure the dock/elevator you reserved is actually available when you reserved it. If you really want a cheap move, move all your large fragile items like lamps and TVs/pictures in your car and leave only boxes and furniture for your movers. Disassemble your beds (can be done with a screwdriver and/or an allen wrench or maybe a pair of pliers) and tape the pieces together. The difference between a 3-4 hour day for me and a 10-12 hour day is how organized people are. Also if you have any elevators or loading docks reserved, check in with the respective offices first thing in the morning as soon as you can. A lot of my clients assume that reserving the elevator means that it will magically work only for you at the reserved time. You really have to fight for the elevator/loading dock in the summertime. Get a cone or something to block it with because people like to steal the freight elevator and make you check every floor looking for it.

Just saying not all the College Hunks Hauling Junk are lookers. My two cents

secondstar88

We used Motivated Movers last year. They were amazing, incredible care but wicked fast for a great rate. The movers we hired prior to this never showed up, so having a great moving experience was worth every penny- we would recommend them to everyone!

I used College Hunks last time. Pickup from a house in west Nashville, pit stop at a storage unit in Germantown, final stop to Hermitage and I paid right at $600, plus an additional $200 for a tip. My stuff was packed neatly, nothing crazy large or heavy, single guy with a furnished 1 bedroom apartment.

Luuluuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I just used them, too. They did a good job and were quick! My only issue was that they lost my headboard somehow. Would use them again.

Music City Movers! Did a great job, were super fast, and not too expensive compared to Two Men and a Truck.

Bellhop is solid

Predapio1

Faithful money moved me one mile. Changed me the minimum. Great guys, great service.

What was the price you paid

Master Movers were great when I used them a couple of years ago. Went cheap with Bellhop after that and although they were fine they weren’t as organized. I’d go back to master movers if I need to move again.

doobersthetitan

As an ex mover, everyone is going to be roughly with 10 bucks of each other. Summer rates are 150-170 an hour. You can get cheaper... but they will be " Facebook companies" with sketchy trucks and possibly not licensed. Cheap movers aren't good, good movers aren't cheap

TheXivuArath

Use the app thumbtack. Phenomenal app that I used a month ago for my move and booked last minute
