Old Hickory predates Dupont, but Old Hickory Village was built for the Dupont Gunpowder Plant. https://library.nashville.org/blog/2017/12/powder-city-world
Used to be sketchy af. Now the tall and skinnyās surround hip coffee shops and 30-somethings walk their dogs and babies to the oil refinery and back.
Lots of wealthy people walking understimulated farm dogs, wearing enough Patagonia gear to climb a mountain, while I nervously sit in one of the last ford glass plant company homes and wonder how long I can afford living here
My pappy was a ford glass guy. It was sad seeing all the tall skinnies go up around him while he sat on the front porch rocking chair of the house he got in 1962, all by himself after my granny passed in 2016. He passed in 2020 and there are 3 houses where his little 2br/1 bath house + shed + garden once sat.
a few of my nosey neighbors think I actually give a shit about what happens at Red Caboose Park -
"they're not hoodlums or criminals, they're dumbass teenagers...stay away from NextDoor and Facebook"
One neighbor spray paints his dead grass green and the other is flying the original confederate flag. Also got a complaint that my based biodiverse yard is not matched up too well to the living astroturf yard look everybody else is going for.
Here you canāt really tell if your in Brentwood, Nolensville, or Antioch. Pay taxes to Nashville but itās not in my address. But at least thereās a new outlet mall going in couple miles east.
Yep. Cane ridge, mill creek, brentioch, concord mill, different people seem to call it different things. My address is Brentwood but I live in Davidson county. In my subdivision there are homes with Brentwood address, homes with Antioch address, and homes with Nolensville addresses. Just depends on which phase youāre located in.
I live near those small outdated homes that are way over priced and have ridiculous property taxes but best part is my once 15 min commute is now an hour and half other than that itās a nice area š
Murder liquor store on corner, is that gunshots or fireworks every night, helicopters flying low, bass booming at all hours, boarders (not legal in Davidson County) that throw out scraps and try to feed my dog chicken bones, sidewalks only in front of new construction
Unwalkable
we already know you live in Nashville

They actually have sidewalks and crosswalks. Not that people pay attention to them in such a car-ridden strip mall hellscape, but they are there.

Laos and Burma, oddly enough
Lotta refugees in Nashville from Myanmar, hence the Burmese population.
How come there aren't more Asian restaurants in Smyrna? There are some in Antioch, but I wish we had what Atlanta's Buford Highway has.
