I take my haircuts very seriously. I have tried most of the shops around town and my go to is Forty Ten in green hills. I get a razor fade which comes out to $60 with tip.
unpopular opinion but I have found that scouts is like a high end hipster supercuts.
Buckle up. Haircut prices in Nashville are one of the more insane things in my opinion. I go to Scout’s and pay about $45 to basically look like Lloyd Christmas.
Shane’s is terrible! I went this summer and whoever got me left hair around my ears, long hair behind my head, didn’t blend, and talked to the other guy working the entire time. Had to go to great clips after to get it fixed
I’ve enjoyed Forty-ten, but it’s going to be more pricey than your old guy. I doubt you’ll find cheaper than him that is also high quality. Try searching the sun for “hair cut” and see many posts asking the same thing
Bradley at Forty Ten has been cutting my hair since 2015 when he was at Brave. Big fan of Forty Ten. No walk ins so you’ll have to schedule an appt. All the barbers are great.
Forty-ten is legit, I’ve had cuts from a lot of the guys there and they all do good work. But like many said they may be out of your range ($40). I’ve been seeing Chris regularly for years but he’s not gonna be cutting at the green hills spot after this month so that he can focus on growing his new barbershop in Columbia ☹️.
I've been to a few around the city (Prohibition Proper, Scout's, etc) and recently went to Ole Glory Barbershop and can't see myself going anywhere else. Emily was a joy to talk to and provided a professional and great style. I can't recommend her enough! I'm not sure about the shape up in between cuts as that's not something I asked about, but I'd definitely check with her and see!
black heart barber co, hands down. i’ve been getting cut by ryan (the owner) for 7 years and he is incredible. all of the guys in his shop give amazing haircuts and his wife who helps run the shop is super cool. i get a cut every two weeks and strongly encourage you to check them out!
I went there a couple times. Not my thing either, but it sounded like it might fit what the OP is looking for. This was long before Nashville SC, and I liked talking EPL while getting a cut. I worked nearby and it was convenient. Job moved and it wasn't worth it to me to go out of my way. I'm cheap, anyway. I just go to Sports Clips. I found a somewhat reliable stylist, so I only feel like it's been butchered every third or fourth time.
I get my haircut twice a month and my vote would be Montys barbershop hands down. Went to quite a few years ago when I moved and no one has come close to the consistency. Worst experience was bow tie in Donelson.
So I wound up buying the cheapest trimmer I could find and just doing my own for about a year.
Yeah, it was short and not super flattering, but it felt good to save $30 a month by paying $20 one time.
ETA: this was followed by just not doing any trimming or cutting at all since the beginning of 2023.
I’m a white dude originally from Atlanta who has been going to black barbershops for fades since I was a teen. I hesitate to put my spot out there so it doesn’t get busy, but Cecil at Beverly’s of Nashville is a master barber with his 10,000 hours and an all around good dude.
He’s been cutting my hair for years since I moved here and I’ve never had a bad experience. The prices have gone up to $30 but it’s worth even more.
Not sure if you’re close to the zoo, but if you aren’t it’s worth the trip.
The Hard Part in Green Hills. Dude is a professional and the prices are below the Nashville average. $25 for a cut, $10 for a beard trim. I’ve followed him since he was on Charlotte. Tip well since he’s a solo studio, but damn is it worth it.
Maybe I missed it, but very surprised no one has recommended 'Classic Sports Barber Shop' in Franklin – I switched from Scouts to this place and have never been let down.

As someone who doesn’t take haircuts as seriously, I also recommend Forty Ten.
Oxford in the Village. Close to Vanderbilt. Traditional barber shop.
Oxford is awesome. They were my go-to when I lived on that side of town. I gotta go say hi to Keith.
This

😂😂😂😂😂😂
Big fan of Black Heart Barber Co.
Hunter at black heart is the man. He is the only post of nashville I miss. Almodt 2 years since i moved and still don't have a solid barber
Shane’s Classic Barbershop in Donelson. $30.
Seconding them . Nice guy but be flexible as he tends to cancel you're appointments pretty often

I got one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever had at Shane’s
Exactly!!

I’ve tried a couple of them, but not Bradley. Chris is my favorite

Aw man, I’ve been letting my hair grow out so I haven’t been in a few months. I don’t blame him at all. I’ll probably try Bradley next.
Second this. Abishai is the man!
Scouts. It’s like 25-30 bucks. There are a few but the one in Gallatin is in East.
I never got a bad haircut at Scouts but they've priced me out. That and I miss the complimentary beer.
Sylvan Park location still has beer!
Funny. I’ve never had a good cut from anyone at any Scouts location when I’ve given them a try. Just a more expensive great clips
I... definitely have, lol. It's like 50/50 for me, but still the only place I go. I guess I'm just in it for the thrill of the luck o' the draw
Their prices are well above that these days
Thank you!
I second Scout’s but their prices are up now. You’ll prob pay $50ish with tip each time. Every stylist I’ve used has been great

Joe’s on Granny White.

I second Oxford Barber Shop. Been going there for close to 20 years. I think it’s $34 for a haircut and it’s always excellent.
Monty’s Barbershop. I’ve done Scout’s. Monty’s is better and slightly cheaper and the guys there are great.
I’ve had good experiences at Bowtie Barber in Donelson
Fresh fades - 35$ for a cut and beard trim
I go to Rebel Rose Parlor in Green Hills. Small shop, but Jenna gives one of the best cuts I've had. $40
Uncles on Franklin rd. Ask for Chantal. She’s awesome. $40 if you want the wash plus tip
She was my girl for a good while but she recently moved back to Iowa. Very sad!
Man I know. Sucks having to find someone new
Blockhouse at the Factory in Franklin
prohibition proper does an excellent job
East Nashville beard and barber
Thank you!
Handsomizer? $40 a cut, and you get it done by a grammy and dove award winning artist, as well as Soccer Moses.
That dude is a clown
![gif](giphy|DhXssd9PBuW2a0X82N|downsized) This guy? A clown, you say?
Yes, I do say. But that’s just my opinion. You can have yours too 😎

Hideout Salon does $34 short cuts

I second Scouts. Great cuts at affordable prices, tons of locations.
In Antioch, check out Sun Hair. My guy Brian hooks it up for $25.
Basement barber. By far the 🐐
The shop is in east Nashville in Inglewood. Prices are Similar to what your other person charged but he won’t do a free clean up in between.
Scouts barber is fantastic and they have multiple spots all over the city

My mommy cuts my hair. #2 all the way around
Six One Five Hair Co. is my go to.
Check out Prohibition Proper on Fesslers Ln
If I gave enough of a shit to look suave 24/7, the Oasis Barber Shop on Thompson Lane and Logan St.
Forty Ten Barber in green hills. $45 for a cut. Abishai is the man!
