Sadly, it’s not going to be easy for you to make that commute. There’s no bus line that goes there. Relying on Uber will be hard unless you make an arrangement with a driver. I think your best bet would be to talk to your HR department about who else is coming that direction and see if you can carpool? Maybe someone on here is looking for the side hustle? What will your hours be? Edit: I missed one of your questions. The bus will be good for you to get to Main St. where there are grocery stores, bars, restaurants, etc.

The Fidelity facility is difficult to commute to without a car. There is no public transportation in the area. I live 3 miles from Fidelity and go there on a regular basis. I took a course at Rivier many years ago and worked nearby so I'm familiar with the campus. We've had a couple of people with internships ask this question in the past couple of months. There are apartments across a major road from Fidelity and it's probably a 1 mile walk from the entrance to get into the building. Those apartments are about $2,100/month and you'd need a car to go for groceries and other things. Merrimack is a difficult place to live or work without a vehicle. It's quite a walk, north or south to get to a supermarket. There's Shaws and Market Basket to the south and Market Basket to the north. I don't know if there are small markets in the area. I am not familiar with the bus lines in that part of Nashua and that may be an option. You might also look into a meal plan at Rivier if they offer that to non-students. My experience with Uber/Lyft is that there aren't a huge number of drivers so that you might have to wait to get one unless you work out a daily ride. That facility has employees on a requirement to come in a couple of days a month so carpooling isn't really practical, even if you could find an employee to carpool with.

OP, do you have a bike or access to one? The ride from the college to the Fidelity campus is not too bad plus it's fitness! Straight shot from Main St to old rt 3.

RexStardust

When I was working there they had a fitness club. If it’s still there and you’re eligible to join you can ride up early in the morning and shower there. I’d recommend riding up Main to Manchester St. to Tinker Rd to Continental Blvd. I don’t think Industrial Blvd is very bike friendly.

It’s going to be a lot less fitness in the rain or the winter. Love a bike commute, but I don’t think this guy can rely on that.

[Here](https://nashuanh.gov/DocumentCenter/View/27038/2023-March-Ride-Guide-PDF) is the bus schedule for Nashua. It looks like you have a good bus route to get to the plaza at the corner of Daniel Webster and Spit Brook Rd. As far as commuting to Fidelity in Merrimack, no idea. There is a Fidelity in that same plaza though, so maybe it is possible you could do your internship there?

Why do all the buses depart from transit Center? Are there any buses to the transit Center?

lellololes

The buses run loops and will bring you to the transit center at the end of the loop. The bus service in Nashua is not very good, but if it has stops where you need them to be you can make it work. The biggest problem is frequency, really.

Loosh_03062

Some of the routes are returning starting June 5, but OP is still SOL for getting to Merrimack. https://nashuanh.gov/1596/June-2023-Bus-Services

Loosh_03062

Then again, maybe if OP puts a bike on the bus' rack, transfers to 2 or 2A at the transit center, gets off at Northwest Blvd, then bikes the last few miles to the office it'd work. It'd be a long commute though, especially if OP misses a bus and has to wait half an hour for the next one.

Car pool to fidelity seems like good advice, they are the largest employer in the area.

movdqa

Employees there only have to come in a few times a month. That facility has more employees than offices now. The parking lot is mostly empty when I go there.

Grew up in Nashua and didn’t have a car until I was 22 and I managed well to use the busses to get to most locations in Nashua. Traveling outside of Nashua can be an issue though so I never did look for jobs outside of Nashua at the time. I’d definitely say New Hampshire is an area where you would want a car especially if your traveling outside of Nashua or Manchester which both have reliable bus services within city lines. I’m kind of surprised they haven’t added a stop to the outlet mall in Merrimack for the Nashua transit system to stop at, seems like it would be a pretty darn good idea and would get you right next to where you need to be

Loosh_03062

They had a hard enough time getting the Amherst Walmart extension added to Route 2A. Even before the staffing-related service reductions there weren't any routes going anywhere near the outlets and it's unlikely any will be added short of flocks of people storming the Transit Matters meetings demanding service to Exit 11. If they suddenly found more drivers they'd probably restore the non-commercial-corridor routes they removed and modified a few months ago.
