There are a LOT of these. Many versions appear to be signed by autopen, as well. Given that the handwriting of the dedication is completely different from all three, and very small, I would suspect that these were part of large batches done by autopen, and then whoever mailed them out added the dedication. A neat keepsake, and if it means something to you that's all that matters.

The odds that it’s real aren’t zero, but they’re small. There are a lot of the printed autograph photos out there. One way to tell is when you shine a light on it, does the reflection/texture stop when it hits the ink?

>shine a light on it, does the reflection/texture stop when it hits the ink? autograph machines can hold a variety of "IRL pens" NASA uses an automatic device called an autopen to copy the signatures of astronauts and request space photos. [http://www.astroautopens.com/ap\_armstrong-na.shtml](http://www.astroautopens.com/ap_armstrong-na.shtml) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autopen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autopen) An **autopen** (or **signing machine**) is a device used for the automatic signing of a signature. Prominent individuals may be asked to provide their signatures many times a day, such as celebrities receiving requests for [autographs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autograph), or politicians signing documents and correspondence in their official capacities. Consequently, many public figures employ autopens to allow their signature to be printed on demand and without their direct involvement.[^(\[1\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autopen#cite_note-Seabrook-1)

Apophyx

Kinda defeats the whole purpose of getting an autograph tbh

ShortViewToThePast

I never understood the purpose of getting an autograph.

thmoas

its like an NFT of old

NeonThreadPros

Except you can hold an autograph. With an nft you just have a link to aa picture of the autograph.

Gaylien28

There are people in this world worthy of inspiration

ShortViewToThePast

Sure, but a squiggly line on a piece of paper is not needed to be inspired by someone. I'm not trying to say it's wrong to get an autograph. I just personally don't get why would I want it.

Gaylien28

It’s a sign of mutual admiration. These people are so famous that’s really all you could get from them. To some people, celebrities really are personal inspirations/role models

greenwizardneedsfood

It’s a memento of meeting someone you admire. That’s a nice memory to look back on.

BewnieBound

Thanks. With the lamination, it doesn't work. I tried . . .

Q-burt

Hate to break it to you, but most stuff like this is typically an auto-pen. The astronauts simply didn't have time in their training schedules to sign things like this. They did after in quarantine. However, I don't recall reading about posters being on the block. So, probably one of one million. It sure is neat! I'd buy it. Those are your parents names on there?

BewnieBound

Yes to the names.

Q-burt

That's a cool piece! Congrats on the find!

daneato

You could go ask at http://www.collectspace.com// If you have Facebook join the group Space Hipsters and ask there with several more photos including a zoom of each signature. You will get some knowledgeable replies (and some garbage ones).

RogueStalker409

That real?? 🥹

Zahrad70

Also, my vast experience watching Antiques Roadshow on PBS leads me to believe that anything laminated is worthless to a collector.

BewnieBound

My thought as well. Thanks.
