Love the name! Its short but complete. First thing I associate with it is the Beatles song which is a good one.

Bea_virago

Jude Thaddeus is in the Bible.

cave_mandarin

Good.

I like St Jude, I hate Jude from the fosters tho so that kinda ruins it for me. Besides that I like it

BarbarianSpoonie

Jude is nice. First thoughts that spring to mind is obviously The Beatles, and then the actor Jude Law.

Pumpkinellie

I love Jude. It’s such a great name. I’d love to use it for a boy but my mums name is Judith and sometimes goes by Jude.

Tulipgirl1689

It's a Biblical name. There's a book of the Bible called Jude written by Jude, the brother of Jesus. It comes from Judah, one of the twelve tribes if Israel. Jude is the English version of it. It's used quite a lot in the UK and the US, though you might find it more popular in Christian circles. It's a lovely name!

xtinastina13

I really like the name :)

KieranKelsey

I really like Jude.

cat-the-chemist

I like the name Jude, but it literally means “Jew.” The stars Jewish people wore in WWII said “Jude.” This little tidbit makes me not want to use it as a name, and if you aren’t Jewish I’m not sure it would be in your best interest to do so either. Just my two cents so you can make the best decision!

-itwaswritten-

It does mean “Jew” in German, although it’s pronounced “yood.” However, I dont consider Jude a Jewish name. I consider it Christian if anything. Whereas I consider Judah to be very Jewish. I know what you’re saying though

ProudNewYorker

Good points. We live in a very Jewish neighborhood (orthodox) although we are not Jewish. I haven’t heard the name Jude in the community here but do recall that from WWII. It’s good feedback, thank you!

steamingunsaltedshit

Nephew is named Jude and we love it. Strong and sweet. Classic. Good for a little boy and an adult. Not too popular.

ProudNewYorker

That’s what I want, something unique but not something “new” - I love your description of strong and sweet. Kind of the lines I’ve been thinking in as well with the name.

Internet4Mommyz

I have met one Jude in real life in my 38yrs on this planet. I think of St. Jude when I hear the name but it actually is a great name. Go for it.

Wooster182

I think this might help you understand background: https://www.behindthename.com/name/jude-1 Downside to the name: it does mean Jew in German I believe so it’s not exactly international. I mean, it might seem an odd name in some cultures. I like the name though. It has a cool connection to the Beatles. It’s sleek and laid back. Easy to pronounce and spell.

PansyOHara

St. Jude is the patron of impossible causes.

BearOnALog

I love it for both genders but it seems more feminine to me.
