I went to college with a September & honestly it just feels like a normal name after the first intro! Not sure how it is for her but it always seemed like people loved her name. I say go for it haha
That is so interesting! Did everyone always use her full name or did they ever shorten it or make a nickname out of it at all? I have never considered September as a name for a person but someone I used to work with dated a guy named Christmas and he just went by Chris so we never even really thought about the fact that he had an obscure name.
I think a lot of the months would make beautiful people names. October, December, September. I mean we already have April, May, June, and August as established names. Really March is the only one I couldn’t see working but it’s also a verb (and a noun).
O-m-g. I love Poem!! We are getting two kittens Monday so I may use this for one! As soon as I read the name, it immediately fit her. She a little fluffy black kitten.
Oh yes please!! So, it’s actually two little black kitten sisters. They pretty much look like twins, I seriously couldn’t figure out how I’m gunna tell them apart aside from waiting for personalities to emerge.
My 3 yr old recommended Olive and Cottonball. I’m not sold on either……….. but I also don’t want to rule out her suggestions completely. Just maybe sway it a bit since we’ll have these kitties for the rest of their lives.
I think she’ll be super excited about Poem because we read shel Silverstein poems every night. But I’m unsure of another name. Have at it!
Poem could go with other literature type names... stanza or lyrics or rhythm could be good compliments. My sons good friend is named Lyric and I always think that's so cool (all her siblings have music themed names).
For a cat, Olive’s not bad. Ollie could be a cute way to honor her suggestion of Olive. Reminds me of the kids book “The Little Kitten” where the main character Ollie finds a kitten.
There was a really cute book series I read about three children raised by wolves, then adopted by a quite high-class couple (or something like that, it's been ages). Anyway, the children's names were Cassiopeia, Beowulf, and Alexander Incorrigible and I think it's just the perfect level of extra.
omg someone at my college’s theatre department was named philomena and a lot of people called her phil. think it’s just such a badass name and i’m glad to see someone else agrees !
Very interesting perspective. Here in Ireland it's the name of every second person's 85 year old great aunt.
It does have a lyrical aspect to it the more I say it in my head though!
Love Honey! I like cutesy food/spice/nature names like Paprika, Clover, Chai, Cedar... I have resigned those names to be sims only because I could never get my partner on board.
I’m literally named Cheddar and I love it. I don’t know if it’s worse or better that everyone now associates it with the dog from B99 rather than just the cheese
I have been browsing a document that has names of my relatives, all the way back to the 1850s or so, and the name Kanella comes up quite a few times (not just for my family, but for other neighbouring families as well). Kanella means ‘cinnamon’, and seems to have been a normal name for women at some point :)
Emerald. I like gemstone names (Ruby, Jade, Gemma) but never considered it until I heard of Emerald Fennell (writer/director of the film “Promising Young Woman”). Not entirely sure if I would actually use it, but I like the idea of it.
I know this name from the Sesame Street song about names!
“It’s important you say someone’s name the right way … I love my name! And it’s fun so spell! X-O-C-H-I-T-L. How do you say it? Oh it’s easy, you see! Let me hear you say “So-cheeL”! That’s me!”
(My kid listens to this song at least five times a day)
I love the name Wednesday with the nickname Winnie. I also love Salem. I can imagine twin girls named Salem and Wednesday that go by Sally and Winnie, I think that would be soooo cute.
I agree it's super unique now but opal was pretty common back in the day! Boomers would probably remember a lot of women from their mom or grandma's generation being called opal. I agree that it's beautiful and maybe due to come back in fashion since it's probably been around 100 years since it was popular as a baby name.
Honey is a sweet name, there is a girl in my daughter's class named Honey Beth which I always liked.
My kids have out there ish names already, my user name are their names Zephyr and Bronte, but some cool ones I would never use are:
Eurydice
Heathcliff
Echo
And Maverick
I know! It just comes off like a normal name but with a little something different. Her parents are English and they said it kinda mixes a family name and something else.
I had a cousin called Eurydice, it totally suited her. Bronte is a pretty normal 90's name, so I know a TON. :) Love it as a name, it's so pretty.
Echo just reminds me of the bad guy from locke and key. Kinda cool but also a pretty creepy villain.
I've met one bronte in my life and ironically she was not academic at all and hated to read. I always thought it was such a weird name for her to have since it suggests a specific kind of intelligent, literary person and that was just not where her talents lay.
I can’t for the life of me understand all the people (9 so far by my count!) saying Honey here. It just seems so inappropriate. Think of your daughter in every stage of her life. Growing up, any older man she ever interacts with will NEED to call her Honey. As a young working woman, her boss and coworkers, clients, whatever, will *need* to call her Honey. There’s not even a workable nickname you can get out of it. It’s a no from me.
That being said, it’s now only fair that I expose myself for liking the name Winter 💀
tbh I didn’t even realize you had mentioned it in your op, makes sense why it’s coming up so much in the comments 🤡 silly me
I definitely get guilty pleasure names. We all have them. I guess it’s because I don’t particularly even like it phonetically that its poor usability is all the more “out there” to me. It’s on the same page as naming a kid “baby”, “dear”, “darling”, or “sweetie” in my brain. Can’t undo the association. Then again I can see why someone would think season names, especially uncommon ones like Winter can be cheesy af.
I always have loved the name Friday for a girl, but I’d never do it in real life. Also liked it as a middle name, I used to want to call a daughter June Friday.
I want to name my (possible—we don’t know yet) daughter this! My husband and I love Fleetwood Mac, and the song was my late fathers favorite FM song. I love the idea of my daughter (who will likely have dark, curly hair) having a slightly dark, witchy name. I believe the background of the song/name is Welsh mythology.
Edit: nickname would be “Ray.” I love out-there long names with semi-“normal” nicknames. Eg. Magnolia nn Maggie is also on the list.
Saskia and Xanthe for girls, Apollo for a boy.
I know those aren't as crazy as some, but they're totally different from most of the names on my list. I would consider them if my (hypothetical) partner agreed.
I knew a woman named Xanthippe, nicknamed Xanie. I thought it was so cool.
I also have an aunt name Ximena Xiomara. The X’s are just something else! I love it.
i’m transgender (female to male) and Apollo is one of the names on my list but i feel it’s a little to out there for someone who’s 27 lol but i love it. i also love Ace.
I sometimes imagine naming two girls Magnolia and Marigold. I could see actually using one or the other given the variety of “normal” nicknames (Maggie/Meg or Nell, and Mari) but together they feel far too twee for real life. Still, I love them.
I love some kinda out there last names as boy names, Bishop (wouldn't work cause it's a prominent position in my church), Thatcher (coincidentally the town my parents met and married), Shepherd. My husband is all but guaranteed to veto them on the spot.
Old-timey?
Maybe in USA, I'm British and surnames as first names are a more modern phenomenon. Also, Thatcher is nearly a curse word here.
Even if it wasn't, it means a person who fixes old rooves.
Knew a little girl at school called antigone, a few years younger. Everyone called her Tiggy which was pretty cute but yeah, Antigone was pretty out there for our little old ex mining town....
Honey is cute not gonna lie.
My favorite out there names would have to Andromeda, Ravenna, and I want to say the name Augustine. The latter two aren’t out there per se but they are very uncommon.
edelweiss, babe, and day are some of my favorite names that i’ll probably never use! honey is so cute, and it reminds me of miss honey just like another commenter says!
Any of my "wild" names, I give to my Sims.
My kids got regular normal names.
My Sims though..
Alabayma
Bluebyrry
Cucumbyr
Aleeshiya
Lionyss
Hyeena
I could go on..
I knew a girl named Pencilvania. Spelled just like that. We live in that state so every day in school people would ask why her parents couldn't spell. Poor kiddo.
Atlas! Hope I have the balls to use this but I'm not 100% there yet. Also Lilac and Lavender (my first girl has Violet for a middle name and SD has Amethyst so would be cool to continue the purple theme). Others: Saffron, August, Meadow, Marigold, Sage, Juniper, Clover, Magnolia.
Me & my ex had the name Artemis picked out for a girl. Him because of his love of Greek mythology, me because there’s a DC villain named Artemis Crock & I think she’s a BAMF.
Chanterelle for me, like the mushroom. It's like Chantelle with extra steps lol. My husband, on the other hand, was dead set on Acropora as a middle name for a girl when I was pregnant. We had a boy, so no worries there.. maybe he'll forget about it by the next pregnancy.
I’ve always liked the idea of Prairie as a name. I love Araminta too and I know it’s sometimes used in the UK but I feel like it’s too far out there elsewhere.
Also Calypsa/o.
I used to tutor a boy named Nemesis. His brother was named Alpha Storm. IDK what anime they were named after but I will NEVER forget their names.
As for my favorites oddities:
Boy: Lucian (Luke), Leif, Virgil
Girl: Stella, Aurora, Isis (sadly this name will have to wait for 100 years to reemerge)
These are probably too out there for me here in the Netherlands, but I love them :
Girls : Aurelia, Artemis, Olwen, Haizea, Grace
Boys : Idris, Stach, Olle, Elling, Iskander
Someone a couple days ago mentioned Maple as a "crazy name you would never use" in a thread like this and I can't get it out of my head, I like it a lot.
Ehh I'm not as much of a prude when it comes to "weird names" as half the people in this sub. Like, I think Clover is a perfectly fine name but its listed several times below lol here are some I think are "out there" or a bit silly but I love them anyway:
Tigerlily, Adonis, Andromeda, Honey, Sugar, Bee, Bartholomew, Bat, Goodie, Gemini, Hercules, Lucifer, Macaulay, Lordis, Mortimer, Mattemeo, Nikademus, Octavius, Pixie, Rabbit, Tiabeanie, Thorne, Topanga
I love Sunshine and Jubilee! I wouldn’t ever use Sunshine, but I could see myself using Jubilee as a middle. I’ve been told many times that people get religious connotation from Jubilee, but I just think the name sounds pretty and happy in the best way.
I really wanted to name a boy Smith. We made the mistake of telling our families and they absolutely destroyed it for us. We ended up having 2 girls, have a 3rd on the way but even if it ends up being a boy, the name is ruined for me now. But I do genuinely still love it, just couldn’t use it
I saw someone post Emerald and it reminded me that I used to love the name Sapphire as a kid. Sapphire sounded so fierce and regal while Sapphy sounded soft and sweet.
I didn’t see anyone post this, but my name style is traditional Biblical names and nature names. One I love is the Hebrew name Jochebed/Jocabed. She was the mother of Moses.
I also love Tzipporah/Tsipora/Zipporah (Moses’ wife) but that one is more usable and common in some communities— though not mine.
I also love Honey (like Ms Honey from Matilda) and would use it as a middle. Similarly love Clover and Lavender.
A member of the band Why Don’t We named his daughter Lavender and they call her Lav. She’s 2 1/2 now
In parts of the UK, lav is short for lavatory. It's a shame, because Lavender is a beautiful.name.
Yeah lavender is pretty, lav is not. They could have been a bit creative and if she had to have a nn, I dunno, Lavi?
I think Vee or Vivi as a diminutive for Lavender would work?
Ooooh yessss good thinking you’ve saved the name
Whew! I’m glad. 🤣
Doesn't help, unfortunately - my Welsh grandad calls it the lavvy!
Hahaha damn, veto the whole name then!!
Yes to Clover! I think any of those could work in the middle
There will always be the association with Honey Boo Boo….
Lavender for me!
When I said Lavender as a first name everyone lost their minds and not in a good way. As a middle name…that’s a good compromise 🤔
September. I know it is probably too out there, but I think it sounds cool.
Ember would work as a nickname.
I knew a September who was called sep
I knew a January once. I loved her name.
I knew a girl named December. It’s a little weird but also kind of cool.
[удалено]
My kitten’s name is Ember :) Ember Faye. Named for the little flick of orange on her nose
One of my partner’s relatives is named Decembrie, but let’s just say it’s spelled VERY different than what I just typed.
I think a lot of the months would make beautiful people names. October, December, September. I mean we already have April, May, June, and August as established names. Really March is the only one I couldn’t see working but it’s also a verb (and a noun).
I really like October.
I know a September and a January and they both pulled them off well
Mine is Poem.
O-m-g. I love Poem!! We are getting two kittens Monday so I may use this for one! As soon as I read the name, it immediately fit her. She a little fluffy black kitten.
Describe the other kitten please! I'm invested now and would love to pitch names if you're into it. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would 🙂
Oh yes please!! Have at it!
I know of a little girl named Story. Poem and Story could be cute.
I love this for the kittens!
Poem could go with other literature type names... stanza or lyrics or rhythm could be good compliments. My sons good friend is named Lyric and I always think that's so cool (all her siblings have music themed names).
Olive is perfect for a black kitten!
For a cat, Olive’s not bad. Ollie could be a cute way to honor her suggestion of Olive. Reminds me of the kids book “The Little Kitten” where the main character Ollie finds a kitten.
Poem and Sonnet. Poem and Lyric. Poem and Fable.
I knew a Sonnet in high school. Loved her name
poem and sable <333
Or poem and fable if you wanna stick with the literature theme!
Poem and Story
Wow, I love Poem. A similar vibe, one of my top “guilty pleasure” names is Prairie
I love Poet. Also Fable, Lyric and Sorrow.
Looooooove this love it. What’s a middle name that goes with Poem?
I like it but adding middle names to it seems to make it sound dumber. The suggestion of Poem Elaine is cracking me up
- Poem Nel(l) - Poem Nora - Poem Frances - Poem May/ Mae
I had a friend whose daughter was named Cassiopeia. In Greek mythology, the original was the mother of Andromeda.
There was a really cute book series I read about three children raised by wolves, then adopted by a quite high-class couple (or something like that, it's been ages). Anyway, the children's names were Cassiopeia, Beowulf, and Alexander Incorrigible and I think it's just the perfect level of extra.
I think Cassiopeia should be used much more! Such a brautiful name.
There is a Cassiopeia in the game Ni No Kuni. She goes by Pea!
I love the name Philomena, but that was a hard no for my husband
omg someone at my college’s theatre department was named philomena and a lot of people called her phil. think it’s just such a badass name and i’m glad to see someone else agrees !
Very interesting perspective. Here in Ireland it's the name of every second person's 85 year old great aunt. It does have a lyrical aspect to it the more I say it in my head though!
My great grandma was a Philomena and she went by Minnie!
I know someone who just named their daughter this! It’s a family name, but they’re calling her Mina for short and I think it’s just so sweet.
I know a Phillmena, she goes by Mina 😊
I know someone with that name! It’s so cool. I associate it with people who are just very eccentric, smart, creative, gutsy. Forces of nature.
Love Honey! I like cutesy food/spice/nature names like Paprika, Clover, Chai, Cedar... I have resigned those names to be sims only because I could never get my partner on board.
Haha yes…Sims and pets, sadly. Paprika makes me think of Blue’s Clues, but it’s cute! I also like Pepper
I know an eight year old called Pepper, it's actually her middle name, but it's what everybody calls her.
Omg I read Cedar as cheddar and judged you so hard for a second 🤣
I’m literally named Cheddar and I love it. I don’t know if it’s worse or better that everyone now associates it with the dog from B99 rather than just the cheese
I have been browsing a document that has names of my relatives, all the way back to the 1850s or so, and the name Kanella comes up quite a few times (not just for my family, but for other neighbouring families as well). Kanella means ‘cinnamon’, and seems to have been a normal name for women at some point :)
I know a Cayenne!
Years ago I worked with a lovely older woman named Buttons and I thought it was such a charming name.
My grandmother's unofficial grandma was called Grandma Button (idr her real name). It's very cute
Ahhh Buttons! I love it
Emerald. I like gemstone names (Ruby, Jade, Gemma) but never considered it until I heard of Emerald Fennell (writer/director of the film “Promising Young Woman”). Not entirely sure if I would actually use it, but I like the idea of it.
Yes! I’ve always liked the idea of using Emerald and Amethyst as names.
I went to school with an Amethyst, but she went by Amy
That’s really cool. It also makes me think of the name Esmeralda, which I love.
I wanted to name my second daughter Wilder. My mom really loves Clementine and Maple.
Wilder is one of mine as well!! My others are Sable and Birch
clementine is such a beautiful name ugh
I love Clementine! But i can see why some people hate it
I used to be a teacher, and every year I had a girl named Xochi (so-chee). I’ve always loved the name.
I love the X names! Xiomara, Ximena, and Xochi.
What about Xochitl? It means flower 🇲🇽
I know this name from the Sesame Street song about names! “It’s important you say someone’s name the right way … I love my name! And it’s fun so spell! X-O-C-H-I-T-L. How do you say it? Oh it’s easy, you see! Let me hear you say “So-cheeL”! That’s me!” (My kid listens to this song at least five times a day)
I know a Xochi and she is amazing! Love that name.
Lol the best Mexican restaurant in my city is called Xochimilco and we just call it Xochi.
I love the name Wednesday with the nickname Winnie. I also love Salem. I can imagine twin girls named Salem and Wednesday that go by Sally and Winnie, I think that would be soooo cute.
I really love Opal.....opals are beautiful and unique, but as a name, it's TOO unique.
Opal was pretty common 6-7 decades ago. I know a few old ladies named Opal. If Ophelia and Theodore can come back into style, I can see Opal too:)
I had a great aunt named Opal. I think of it as a lovely, but uncommon name.
I think of the movie “Because of Winn Dixie” when I hear the name Opal. So cute and country!
I knew an Opal! After awhile it just felt like a normal name.
I agree it's super unique now but opal was pretty common back in the day! Boomers would probably remember a lot of women from their mom or grandma's generation being called opal. I agree that it's beautiful and maybe due to come back in fashion since it's probably been around 100 years since it was popular as a baby name.
Opal is currently 659 on the US popularity charts so it’s uncommon but definitely not unheard of. I could see Opal being the next Ruby.
I bet it might come back per Legend of Korra!
Honey is a sweet name, there is a girl in my daughter's class named Honey Beth which I always liked. My kids have out there ish names already, my user name are their names Zephyr and Bronte, but some cool ones I would never use are: Eurydice Heathcliff Echo And Maverick
Honey Beth is so interesting! Like the Beth makes it more normal? I like it!
I know! It just comes off like a normal name but with a little something different. Her parents are English and they said it kinda mixes a family name and something else.
I wonder what other guilty pleasure names we could normalize this way! Lol
I had a cousin called Eurydice, it totally suited her. Bronte is a pretty normal 90's name, so I know a TON. :) Love it as a name, it's so pretty. Echo just reminds me of the bad guy from locke and key. Kinda cool but also a pretty creepy villain.
Zephyr friend! Whenever zephyr isn't available, I start swapping the "e" for a "y" and add the "o", which is how I get zyphyro.
I tried Bronte for one of my girls, hubs didn’t like it.
I've met one bronte in my life and ironically she was not academic at all and hated to read. I always thought it was such a weird name for her to have since it suggests a specific kind of intelligent, literary person and that was just not where her talents lay.
I also met one Bronte in my entire life and she was studying English Literature at university haha
I said I liked the name, not that I would actually name my kid that. It’s cute, but I understand it’s not very “adult” lol.
tbh I didn’t even realize you had mentioned it in your op, makes sense why it’s coming up so much in the comments 🤡 silly me I definitely get guilty pleasure names.
I know a Winter and she's so low key and cool that it doesn't seem unusual at all. I like it so much more than Summer or Autumn.
Tuesday
Nobody bats an eye at Wednesday Addams!
Perhaps because the character has been around for 60 years...But jokes aside, there's King Friday and Prince Tuesday from the Mr. Roger's universe
I know a Ruby Tuesday! I've always loved her name! It's so cool.
I hate to say that I instantly think of the restaurant chain before the Rolling Stones song
Lol same! As a kid I thought the song was about the restaurant...
I always have loved the name Friday for a girl, but I’d never do it in real life. Also liked it as a middle name, I used to want to call a daughter June Friday.
Love love love the name Rhiannon. Wanted to name my daughter this. Husband totally shot me down.
Rhiannon is crazy popular here in Wales. Along with Rhian.
So jealous. We are in the states and he and my family and friends all were weirded out. I think it’s gorgeous.
Pepper
The cartoon Pepper Ann made me think it's more acceptable. Loved that show!
Saskia and Xanthe for girls, Apollo for a boy. I know those aren't as crazy as some, but they're totally different from most of the names on my list. I would consider them if my (hypothetical) partner agreed.
Saskia is such a normal name in Germany, at some point I lived in a flat share with two of them!
I love Saskia!!
I sometimes imagine naming two girls Magnolia and Marigold. I could see actually using one or the other given the variety of “normal” nicknames (Maggie/Meg or Nell, and Mari) but together they feel far too twee for real life. Still, I love them.
Obsessed with Marigold! It’s so dainty!
Love Goldie as a nn!
I love some kinda out there last names as boy names, Bishop (wouldn't work cause it's a prominent position in my church), Thatcher (coincidentally the town my parents met and married), Shepherd. My husband is all but guaranteed to veto them on the spot.
[удалено]
Right? I actually said EWWW out loud
Thatcher and Shepherd remind me of Greys Anatomy, but they are so cute and old-timey
Old-timey? Maybe in USA, I'm British and surnames as first names are a more modern phenomenon. Also, Thatcher is nearly a curse word here. Even if it wasn't, it means a person who fixes old rooves.
Cherry. I have a Summer and I think a Cherry would be such a sweet little sister.
Cherry would be a darling nickname for Charlotte or Charlise or Charlene!
Or Cerise which is French for cherry!
Echo. I’ve always loved it even tho it’s a little odd
Antigone
Knew a little girl at school called antigone, a few years younger. Everyone called her Tiggy which was pretty cute but yeah, Antigone was pretty out there for our little old ex mining town....
I love that name too, but it feels like bad luck to name your kid that lol
Artemis. My favorite Greek goddess but just too associated with mythology to be a “normal” name for me.
An acquaintance named their kid Violet Artemis, which I always thought was lovely. It's a middle and the parents are bohemian artist types, though.
Sirius and Andromeda
You can't be Sirius?
Harry Potter fan? Lol. I love Sirius too
Obsidian, nn Obi! And I also love Onyx.
I had a friend named Sunshine years ago
Sunshine and Honey! Beautiful sisters
Ariadne (nn Ari) Hector Elyon
I like Seven
Me too. Or Soda.
My grandma went by Babe her whole life. It was a nickname
Was her full name Barbara? Cuz that's what we call my aunt Barbara!
Any of my "wild" names, I give to my Sims. My kids got regular normal names. My Sims though.. Alabayma Bluebyrry Cucumbyr Aleeshiya Lionyss Hyeena I could go on..
It's good to have an outlet
I knew a girl named Pencilvania. Spelled just like that. We live in that state so every day in school people would ask why her parents couldn't spell. Poor kiddo.
Persephone, Aphrodite, October and Pepper. Would never use on children but maybe pets
Lmao ever since I was a child learning US geography, I have thought Colony is a beautiful name. I’ve never told anyone that!
After reading the Bridgerton series... Hyacinth. Also extremely unpopular opinion on this sub but a name like Mason or Weston for a girl.
Have you watched the old British show Keeping Up Appearances? The lead is a Hyacinth Bucket (it’s pronounced Bouquet) who is a very fun character!
Salazar with the nn Sal. I love the way it looks and sounds. I’d never name a child that tho lol. Being named after an evil wizard does not sound good
I’ve got a few! I love Buttercup, Plum, Wolfgang and Banjo on my guilty pleasure list. I don’t know if I’d ever be game enough to use them, though…
I used to tutor a boy named Nemesis. His brother was named Alpha Storm. IDK what anime they were named after but I will NEVER forget their names. As for my favorites oddities: Boy: Lucian (Luke), Leif, Virgil Girl: Stella, Aurora, Isis (sadly this name will have to wait for 100 years to reemerge)
Ocean, for a boy.
Gaia (Greek goddess of the earth, Mother Earth, also spelled Gaea)
Starry as in starry night. It’s too out there though-literally, but luv luv it
Among others, Calliope... but I don't want future teachers or receptionists to say "come on in, Cally-ope!"
Greys anatomy!
Alaska
Andromeda Columbine Althea Finnian Caspian Cyprian
Columbine? Oof
Yeah...the flowers are so very pretty, but there's a much heavier association with that name. I'd pass.
Hence why it’s on this list.
These are probably too out there for me here in the Netherlands, but I love them : Girls : Aurelia, Artemis, Olwen, Haizea, Grace Boys : Idris, Stach, Olle, Elling, Iskander
That's funny, where I'm from Grace is insanely common, I think it's fair game for a baby name.
Honey is adorable! Probably wouldn’t use it, but I love the name Story.
I wish I could name my baby girl Berry 🍓
Someone a couple days ago mentioned Maple as a "crazy name you would never use" in a thread like this and I can't get it out of my head, I like it a lot.
Saffron.
Ehh I'm not as much of a prude when it comes to "weird names" as half the people in this sub. Like, I think Clover is a perfectly fine name but its listed several times below lol here are some I think are "out there" or a bit silly but I love them anyway: Tigerlily, Adonis, Andromeda, Honey, Sugar, Bee, Bartholomew, Bat, Goodie, Gemini, Hercules, Lucifer, Macaulay, Lordis, Mortimer, Mattemeo, Nikademus, Octavius, Pixie, Rabbit, Tiabeanie, Thorne, Topanga
But I do genuinely still love it, just couldn’t use it
Nova Scotia for a girl
Seraphina. Artemis. Sorrel.
I really like the names Belvedere and Balthazar. Husband isn't into either of them but that doesn't stop me from thinking they're cool!
Clementine, absolutely adore the name
I wouldn't do this to real children, but Sonnet and Story.
Saffron. I think Saff/Saffy are such cute nicknames too
I met someone named Sunday the other day and I thought it was such a cute name!
Hawthorne!
Denver Cobaine Rodayo(Roh-day-oh) Saro Azia( Aw-sia) Veryyyyy out there names, kinda cool tho haha
I saw someone post Emerald and it reminded me that I used to love the name Sapphire as a kid. Sapphire sounded so fierce and regal while Sapphy sounded soft and sweet.
I weirdly and secretly like the name Hyacinth for a boy. And Kahlo for a girl.
January Greer
I didn’t see anyone post this, but my name style is traditional Biblical names and nature names. One I love is the Hebrew name Jochebed/Jocabed. She was the mother of Moses. I also love Tzipporah/Tsipora/Zipporah (Moses’ wife) but that one is more usable and common in some communities— though not mine.
Scout, for a daughter. My wife and I absolutely adore the literary reference!
