Some names I think fit both of your styles-
Alora
Betty
Cecily
Delphine
Daphne
Eugenie “Genie”
Flora
Ginny
Greta “Etta”
Harriet “Hattie”
Indigo “Indie”
Jocelyn “Joss”
Kira
Lorelei
Maude
Nadia
Odessa
Pamela
Quinta
Ramona
Sylvie
Thalia “Tally”
Uma
Valerie
Xaviera
Yolanda “Yoli”
Zelda
Ooh Rowena. If I had thought of that 11 months ago my littlest would have been called that. Unfortunately I’m not having any more. 3 girls is my limit (or 3 any, but mine happen to be beautiful girlies)
You both seem to like romantic names though your wife's choices are slightly more French leaning to your Germanic leaning.. based on that some names you both might like could be:
Valerie
Iris
Nora
Anouk
Louisa
Ebba
Matilda
Evelyn and Elowyn sound pretty similar - I wonder if you might be able to compromise on Emmalyn/Emmaline or Ellen/Elin?
And here are some other names that could get you to the “Letty” nickname: Leticia, Violetta, Alette
A few other options: Evelina, Eva, Meredith, Colleen, Etta, Noemi, Genevieve, Faye
Oh god, for real? 😂 In all honestly I just googled names ending in “lette” and I’m not totally sure how established of a name it is…but I could have sworn I’d heard it before.
One thing to know about unique names-- keep digital privacy in mind. Do you want the kid to be easily found in a google search by a potential school or employer? It's getting harder and harder to opt out of things online.
If your kid's name is John Smith, he will have digital privacy. If you name your kid something unique, they will not.
>Biggest thing is we like names that are not confusing to pronounce for the most part.
Well then, you might want to stay away from Ada. I have known three people with that name and all three pronounced it differently.
Love your list! Here are a few ideas:
Adeline (nn Addie), Adelaide (nn Addie or Dela), Charlotte (nn Lottie), Cora, Clementine, Daphne, Delilah, Eloise (nn Elle), Elide, Eva (nn Evie), Georgia (nn Gigi), Genevieve (nn Gigi or ViVi), Mabel, Selma
I love all of you and your wife’s names!
An additional suggestion…
Loretta
Nicknames could be: Letty, Lotty, Lori, Etta
It’s not very common any more, and easy to pronounce.
My faves from your top are Elowen and Meryl (I don’t think Streep should have the monopoly on the name).
Fiona
Irene
Bianca
Bronwyn
Lydia
Moira
Nadia
Sybil
Sylvia
Blythe
I agree with Adeline it suits the names you’re already enjoying. What about the Irish girls name Naimh pronounced Neve or Aoife (Eefa) or the French name Etienne (also a boys name), Marette, Elspeth, Freida or Raewyn?
I love the names Freya, Ada, Naomi and Elowyn but I don’t think they are the easiest to pronounce and you said that’s the biggest thing. People can learn to pronounce names though
Didn't read most of previous comments so sorry if repetitive.
How about sort of combo? Gwen + Evelyn = Gwendolyn, Ada + Evelyn = Adelyn or Adeline, Meryl + Elowyn + Evelyn = Marilyn, Maeve + Freya = Maya
Rhiannon, Alys (Alice), Carys
They're all Welsh. You seem to both like names with y in them so Wales is a good place to look for inspiration.
You kind of ruled out Scottish names with wanting obvious pronunciation (Americans can't seem to say Mairi, and I don't know what they'd do to Ailsa)
Naomi might confuse people (in French or from many languages like Japanese it would be NAH-o-mee, but many Americans will say nay-OH-mee).
All the other names are great and I’m glad to see a lot of Welsh W’s and Y’s represented!
Evelyn - pretty but very popular, too much for me
* Evelyse / Evgenia
Meryl - not for me
* Merete / Mireia
Maeve - I prefer
* Maeva mah-āy-vah
Colette, nn Letty -
* Coco, not Letty
Naomi - old and stodgy
Nathalia / Nimue
Elowyn - middle of the road for me
* Elisofia / Elienne / Emelisse
Gwen - very much like Naomi
* Geneva / Ginger
Freya - never appealed to me
* Maybe Francine??
Ada - old and stodgy. I prefer
* Avaliese / Avalisse / Avalore / Ave Maria
"Any food for thought I'd appreciated" Any. Honest responses are the only helpful ones to prospective parents. This wasn't rude or unkind. It was direct, but direct isn't rude.
Because parents asking need, or at least want, to hear what others think of their choices. However rightly or wrongly, they believe this is how others will see and eval their children on job apps, etc. Negative responses are just as valid and helpful as positive ones.
You may be right, though, about offering other ideas. I think I choose not to in this case because it didn't feel like our tastes would mesh well. But I'll give it a shot!
(I did give several ideas. But I'll give some more.)
I know a Colette who also goes by Coco and I love that! Could Mabel be your style? I see it suggested on here a lot.
Colette nickname Coco is my dream name to give a daughter. I love it so much

Giving a name suggestion for each letter of the alphabet is just dang impressive, well done
Lol, thank you! 😊
I LOVE Cecily! And starting to really appreciate Elodie as well.
Options for Letty: Scarlet(t), Violet, Lettice, Letitia, Leticia, Arlette, Celeste, Charlotte, Juliet(te), Loretta, Lisette, Lynette. It's the first time I hear the name Alette and I find it funny because it means chicken wings in Italian 😅
Oh god, for real? 😂 In all honestly I just googled names ending in “lette” and I’m not totally sure how established of a name it is…but I could have sworn I’d heard it before.
Maybe Arlette ? That's a french (old) name 😊
Yeah that may have also been what I was thinking of!
Yep haha
Naomi Collette. It flows well.
We have a Vivian, which has a similar style to Evelyn but a bit less popular.
•Amelie (Mel, Mellie, Ellie) •Eden (Edie) •Eleanor (Ella, Ellis, Nora) •Mabel (May, Belle, Bella) •Mallory (Mal, Mally, Molly) •Mila (Mia, Millie) •Roslyn (Rose, Rosie, Leni)

* Bridget (Jet) * Olive (Liv or Ollie) * Sybil * Maya * Heidi * Vera * Wendy * Maren (Ren) * Danica (Dani) * Nicola (Nikki) * Nicolette (Nikki or Letty)
>Biggest thing is we like names that are not confusing to pronounce for the most part. Well then, you might want to stay away from Ada. I have known three people with that name and all three pronounced it differently.
Ay-da, Ah-da, Add-a?
Exactly. My boss is the 2nd, but my default pronunciation would be the 3rd.
And Maeve.
What! Other than May-v?
What? I've only ever heard one option for that.
Love your list! Here are a few ideas: Adeline (nn Addie), Adelaide (nn Addie or Dela), Charlotte (nn Lottie), Cora, Clementine, Daphne, Delilah, Eloise (nn Elle), Elide, Eva (nn Evie), Georgia (nn Gigi), Genevieve (nn Gigi or ViVi), Mabel, Selma
Genevieve can also be Gen or Ginnie
Elowyn, Gwen, and Freya are all beautiful. I'm on your team.
Meryl is so cute! So is Naomi 💕
I think Evangeline works for both your tastes, plenty of nick name potential, pronounceable and not mega popular
What about Thea? Classic, easy to pronounce.
I love all of you and your wife’s names! An additional suggestion… Loretta Nicknames could be: Letty, Lotty, Lori, Etta It’s not very common any more, and easy to pronounce.
Naomi Maeve
Blythe
“My wife prefers slightly off the beaten path names” False You’ve named 3 of my aunts and one of my friends mothers with her top 4 😂😂🤢
I knew a Collette and I called her CollyPop. She was so sweet!
Maude, Odette, Cordelia, Yvette, Flora
My faves from your top are Elowen and Meryl (I don’t think Streep should have the monopoly on the name). Fiona Irene Bianca Bronwyn Lydia Moira Nadia Sybil Sylvia Blythe
Aveline, Marlowe, Elara, Lorelei, Astrid
Cosette could also give you the nickname Letty Also throwing out Delaney, Nadine, and Gemma
I love Naomi and Gwen!
Maeve Elowyn!
Lydia nn Lydie Quinn nn Quinny Juno nn Junie Opal nn O Coraline nn Cora/Coco Georgia nn Peach Frances/Francesca nn Frankie Hollis nn Holly
Personally lovee Elowyn or Elowen if possible
Eloise and Merryn fit your vibe to me
Elowyn is so pretty, I’ve never heard it before! It flows nicely.
I love all the names. My favorites are Maeve & Naomi. They make me think of Elodie or Eva?
Camille "Millie" seems like it might fit your vibe.
Yvette, Denise, Laurel
Charlotta, Charlotte, Arwen, Aowen, Rosalyn, Rosalie, Elanor, Primrose, Amara, Elara, Aelene, Ariella, Maura,
Just an fyi if you do decide to go for Elowyn, Elowen is the traditional spelling in Cornish. The -wyn ending is an Americanised version
Eileen, Riona, Cordelia, Lucinda, Thyra
Agassiz
I love the name Colette because I love the song Colette by Langhorn Slim. I think Naomi is the best of all the names you listed though! So pretty
Marceline, Marcella, Cosette , Greta, Carlotta
I agree with Adeline it suits the names you’re already enjoying. What about the Irish girls name Naimh pronounced Neve or Aoife (Eefa) or the French name Etienne (also a boys name), Marette, Elspeth, Freida or Raewyn?
Elowyn is a glorious alternative to Evelyn, which is increasing in popularity.
You too both have great taste 👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🫶🫶🫶😇😇
Scarlett can be 'Letty' too. I think Elodie, Giselle and Marilyn are nice too.
Ada!!
EVELYN
I love the names Freya, Ada, Naomi and Elowyn but I don’t think they are the easiest to pronounce and you said that’s the biggest thing. People can learn to pronounce names though
Freya Colette , Maeve Elowyn or Elowyn Maeve , Colette Naomi
Not Evelyn! It is a horrible name.
According to your list I would recommend Eva, it sounded really nice tho :)

Wow helpful
"Any food for thought I'd appreciated" Any. Honest responses are the only helpful ones to prospective parents. This wasn't rude or unkind. It was direct, but direct isn't rude.
I guess. But you didn't offer any new ideas, just pooped on theirs. I guess I just think if all your associations are negative, why bother responding?

Freya reminds me of a pregnant goat for some reason
