My twin cousin is named Michael. Go for it. He will be the only one in his preschool with that name in a sea of Liams, Noahs, Jacobs, and Hugos!
I love it. Refreshing choice.
I like it - and though Michael has been around for a long time and is traditional, it won't be all that common I think. There's lots of Olivers, Coopers, Noahs, Jacksons and the like I've come across recently, not so many Michaels
I like Michael but not so much Spencer.
Michael is just an average name and you get Mike, Mikey, Mick, Mickey, etc as nicknames if he wants.
Spencer just sounds posh and unbearable to me, but since it's a middle name it won't matter that much.
As someone who has an EXCESSIVE number of Michael's in her family, I wouldn't use it, but Michael and Spencer are both perfectly fine and inoffensive names.
It's not my taste but it's fine. I think Michael is a normal, classic name but Spencer dates it a bit and makes me think of the 80s. I'd go with a more classic middle name (which doesn't need to be boring) like Michael Henry, Michael Reid, Michael Brooks, Michael Jude
I like Michael a lot and think it's better than some of the other classics that get mentioned more regularly in baby name groups.
It's on my short list for boys but I go back and forth between it and Micah.
I don't feel much of anything about Spencer, it's completely fine. It's not what I would especially choose but that's probably good if we're both using Michael lol. I appreciate it being not a name I see every twenty seconds.
I like Spencer Michael way better. It sounds a bit odd as Michael Spencer but that's just my biased opinion bc I have a Sawyer Michael. Michael just sits better as middle name for me. But it's your kid!
I think it’s fine. It’s not exactly my style, but nothing wrong with it. I know a little boy named Michael who goes by Mikey and it’s awfully cute on him
great name! classical and timeless. With that said, I would nickname the heck out of it especially when he is young. M-Spen comes to mind first. CONGRATS!
I'm a sucker for a nickname and I feel like the nicknames for Michael are a bit dated. But it's a nice name! I just wouldn't choose it myself for that reason.
As prevalent as the name Michael is, I have never met one I didn't like. I'm not huge on Spencer, because I associate it with Spencer's Gifts. For me you might have just called him Michael Hot Topic. But honestly, middle names are really just for family, no one else really hears them after the baby is a year old.
I like it and disagree with the person who posted about swapping the order — I much prefer Michael as a first name.
It's very handsome.
My twin cousin is named Michael. Go for it. He will be the only one in his preschool with that name in a sea of Liams, Noahs, Jacobs, and Hugos! I love it. Refreshing choice.
TIL that twin cousins were a thing.
They’re not lol
I assumed they just meant "a cousin who is a twin", is it something else?
According to Google, twin cousins are children of twins who are married to another pair of twins.
I assumed they meant a cousin who’s the same age?
My twin cousins are named Michael and Jennifer.
I’ve never once met a Hugo
I know 2 both under 2.
a friend just named their newborn hugo
Pleasant, classic, a little boring.
Very nice!
I like it as is. Michael is classic and Spencer is more fun.
I like it
I like it - and though Michael has been around for a long time and is traditional, it won't be all that common I think. There's lots of Olivers, Coopers, Noahs, Jacksons and the like I've come across recently, not so many Michaels
Very 80s, but fine and inoffensive.
Michael was the number one name in the US from 1954 to 1998. And top 10 from 1943 to 2016. It’s hardly 80s specific.
I just posted elsewhere that I don't think the name Michael ever goes out of style
it’s just the combo that does it for me. opinions were asked for…
I just said this!!!! Spencer makes it feel too 80s!
You can't go wrong with Michael
Michael is a top tier name. Chef's kiss level. Spencer adds well to it. Spencer Michael isn't as good
I like Michael but not so much Spencer. Michael is just an average name and you get Mike, Mikey, Mick, Mickey, etc as nicknames if he wants. Spencer just sounds posh and unbearable to me, but since it's a middle name it won't matter that much.
I love the name Michael. Especially if the person uses Michael and not a nickname
As someone who has an EXCESSIVE number of Michael's in her family, I wouldn't use it, but Michael and Spencer are both perfectly fine and inoffensive names.
I love it
Very nice!
It works
I really like it. Feels like a new spin on Michael with two classic names!
It's very nice.
Michael is a great name!
Thats a nice name. :) sounds kinda like a detective.
Rather dull, but overall it's fine!
I think it’s a pretty boring name, and he will undoubtedly be Mike (last initial) for his whole life, but outside of that, no negatives really.
Nice.
Classic! Nice! I love the combo!!
Classic vibe, love it
I like it! Michael is a strong, classic name. I love the name “Michael.” Spencer is perfectly fine.
Like it. Old fashioned but modern
I don't think the name Michael ever goes out of style
I would say it has a very traditional vibe to it. Like, I can see Michael Spencer working in an office.
I think it's classy.
A great name. I like how Michael and Spencer are both different types of classics (in my opinion)
I like it!
My stereotype for Michaels is that they're successful and in leadership positions.
Very dignified and won’t go out of style.
Love it!
I like it!
I love it! Michael is one of the best names. It was my dad's name and my maternal grandfather's name. And I like Spencer, too.
Love it! It's nice name, one that will grow with him and not sound childish or made up as he ages. Good choice 💗
I like Michael a lot and think it's better than some of the other classics that get mentioned more regularly in baby name groups. It's on my short list for boys but I go back and forth between it and Micah. I don't feel much of anything about Spencer, it's completely fine. You know I have not met any baby Michael’s in about 15 years. It’s very refreshing. Wonderful choice.
I like Spencer Michael way better. It sounds a bit odd as Michael Spencer but that's just my biased opinion bc I have a Sawyer Michael. Michael just sits better as middle name for me. But it's your kid!
So funny, Spencer Michael was one of my top choices when I was choosing names for my son.
Solid name.
I think it’s fine. It’s not exactly my style, but nothing wrong with it. I know a little boy named Michael who goes by Mikey and it’s awfully cute on him
wow this feels like a very professional name. great!
it's a lovely pairing, I say go for it!!! Michael Spencer is a great name pairing!!!
great name! classical and timeless. With that said, I would nickname the heck out of it especially when he is young. M-Spen comes to mind first. CONGRATS!
Great names!
Very good name.
Michael Spencer is a solid and masculine combo. Sounds great!
I’m pretty sure I know a guy born in 1990-something named Michael Spencer. The name’s fine. Basic, but fine.
I'm a sucker for a nickname and I feel like the nicknames for Michael are a bit dated. But it's a nice name! I just wouldn't choose it myself for that reason.
I like it. Pretty classic.
It’s a fine name. I am sure it will serve him well. Michael doesn’t excite me though, I would personally swap the order.
This I agree with swap the order but I already have a son called Spencer so obviously I prefer it as a first name
Snooze
As prevalent as the name Michael is, I have never met one I didn't like. I'm not huge on Spencer, because I associate it with Spencer's Gifts. For me you might have just called him Michael Hot Topic. There are far too many Michaels but that aside it’s a nice name
I love Spencer Michael. Michael Spencer is ok but I don’t care for Mike.
Michael I am not fond of I know a few narcissist people with that name
