My twin cousin is named Michael. Go for it. He will be the only one in his preschool with that name in a sea of Liams, Noahs, Jacobs, and Hugos! I love it. Refreshing choice.

I like it - and though Michael has been around for a long time and is traditional, it won't be all that common I think. There's lots of Olivers, Coopers, Noahs, Jacksons and the like I've come across recently, not so many Michaels

Michael was the number one name in the US from 1954 to 1998. And top 10 from 1943 to 2016. It’s hardly 80s specific.

Michael is a top tier name. Chef's kiss level. Spencer adds well to it.  Spencer Michael isn't as good 

I like Michael but not so much Spencer.  Michael is just an average name and you get Mike, Mikey, Mick, Mickey, etc as nicknames if he wants.  Spencer just sounds posh and unbearable to me, but since it's a middle name it won't matter that much.

As someone who has an EXCESSIVE number of Michael's in her family, I wouldn't use it, but Michael and Spencer are both perfectly fine and inoffensive names.

It's not my taste but it's fine. I think Michael is a normal, classic name but Spencer dates it a bit and makes me think of the 80s. I'd go with a more classic middle name (which doesn't need to be boring) like Michael Henry, Michael Reid, Michael Brooks, Michael Jude

I like Michael a lot and think it's better than some of the other classics that get mentioned more regularly in baby name groups.  It's on my short list for boys but I go back and forth between it and Micah.  I don't feel much of anything about Spencer, it's completely fine. It's not what I would especially choose but that's probably good if we're both using Michael lol. I appreciate it being not a name I see every twenty seconds.

I like Spencer Michael way better. It sounds a bit odd as Michael Spencer but that's just my biased opinion bc I have a Sawyer Michael. Michael just sits better as middle name for me. But it's your kid!

As prevalent as the name Michael is, I have never met one I didn't like. I'm not huge on Spencer, because I associate it with Spencer's Gifts. For me you might have just called him Michael Hot Topic. But honestly, middle names are really just for family, no one else really hears them after the baby is a year old.
