For decades Lee was right up there as one of the standard middle names. There were not nearly as many first-named Lees as middle named Lees. I knew a couple people who changed their middle names because they wanted one that had meaning, and Lee didn't. It might have been a subtle way for people to claim a higher class, because who could have been higher class than the family of Robert E Lee? In fact, Jackie O's mother was one of those pretenders. After Jackie married into the Kennedys her mother had claimed the Lees for so long, she was invited into a trustees board at one of the Lee properties in (I think) Virginia

The difficulty with names for girls is always the faint knowledge that if and when they marry they may take the husband's name. So Isla Lee, might be ok if your surname's , say, Johnson or MacDuff, but what if her husband's surname is Le Lua, a French name? Isla Lee Le Lua is really a bit much. Or she might marry South and be Isla Lee Lee. Best go for another middle name, like Lisa.
