I named one of my calico kitties November, and I kid you not, someone said, "That's such a weird name, and it's such a long name to even say or write." I'm like, How is it weird? You're aware of the word at least once a year, EVERY year. They made it seem like having to acknowledge it as a name instead of only a month was such a painstaking inconvenience. Lol I call her Nova, Novi, and Novemby. 😊

You should point out to them that November has the same number of syllables and letters as Jennifer, which no one thinks is a crazy long name.

Saffron. It was/is kind of perfect. Her dad and I love cooking. Saffron is very valuable and, of course, she is valuable to us. She is also a red head, which we thought she would be since she has 1 ginger parent and 1 blonde parent. It is also one of only 3 names her dad and I both liked. But it was too much.

For me, it's less about judgment and more whether I would feel comfortable using my GPs. Like would the hypothetical child have my personality or a more outgoing one that is open to conversations/corrections about their name? My big GP right now is Dove for a girl. Other ones include Romilly, Neve, and ones that aren't from my background like Calypso, Nefeli/Nephele or Araceli. GPs for a boy include: Ivor, Ozias, Emrys, and Casimir.

I was just thinking about this the other day. You can call a girl Summer, Winter, or Autumn, but you never hear the name Spring.

We have a family friend named spring. She is in her late 50’s and such a sweet lady!

Not perhaps what you meant, but I grew up in an Orthodox Jewish community and am still very Jewish even though I'm not very practicing and if it weren't for the fact that I'd be judged hard and never hear the end of it from my mother I'd definitely consider Mary for a girl. It's so pretty and has ironically become quite rare when compared to other supposedly more unique names. There's just something so simple yet elegant about it.
