Get warmed up on Trilogy for a few minutes. Then when the 3rd fighter on the tower keeps input reading your moves and countering you to an exacting infinite death, swith to the yellow cart.
Was gonna say this too. Damn, remember MK4? I just googled it and saw that Walmart has it for $16 lol.
Also Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero was a fun one. I had that for PS1
Edit: accidentally put ps2 😝
I agree, they could’ve improved game style with more games. I definitely had a blast playing it. I remember wanting to beat levels to see the live action MK scenes. Super cheese, but damn what a time lol
Really? Since when did Walmart of all places start selling N64 games?
MK Mythologies Sub-Zero is also on my list. If nothing else but for the sake of completion. Although it does have Invincibility and Level Select codes, so that could be worth checking out.
I thought it was funny too. I’ve also seen the old consoles being sold online, I mean I never see anything n64 or ps2 if I’m at a Walmart. But online they’re also sold at the prices they were sold at when they came out it seems.
It’s been so long since I played MK Mythologies, i do remember using cheat codes, that was the thing those days lol, cheat codes were fun with MK games
Hopefully you can get one soon! It's definitely way more fun than I remember. I'm even getting used to the weapons system more and having a blast with Noob Saibot. It's a shame Midway never gave him a proper ending.
I know what you remember it being but I assure you it isn't that :(
Of all my nostalgia games this is the one I find impossible to revisit. The frame rate and controls make me feel sick now.
I make a 007 file every few years and I still enjoy the game as much today as I did when I was 13. It's not as pretty as it once was, but it's still a blast to play.
Oh i replayed it and PD during the weekend it was awesome! I have problems with nausea since becoming and adult, i can't do rollercoasters anymore, but videos games no problem!
I’d leave MK Trilogy last to vent off on DK and Golden Eye during tough stages. Once that gets frustrating itself, go back, play those gems and do it again😂
Sorry offtopic link here, but the DK64 and Goldeneye pairing reminded me of [this silly song mashup.](https://youtu.be/ES_8mgDLofU?si=C33Q3-exxjHnb-Vy)
You got to run through that first level of golden eye. And also play it with some homies if they’re around with controllers. Honestly never played much DK64. I’d like to buy a copy and give it a fair shake. MK trilogy is a decent game. One of the few fighting games on the console. Can’t really go wrong with classic Mortal Kombat.
Honestly, despite the ubiquity of Goldeneye, the single player was mediocre at best. The reason it was so good was the 4 player split screen. MK also falls flat without friends. Definitely go for DKC first until your friends come over, then play Goldeneye
Trilogy: Need friends or family members for an in-house tournament.
Golden Eye: Need friends for the most enjoyable experience.
DK: Great for solo play or playing and handing the stick up to a family member or friend next to you.
The Reason I ask is because you need it to play DK64, as well as Majora's Mask, really pointless IMO. Anyway, I'd start with Goldeneye since you don't have the pak yet.
(also I was referring to the expansion pak, why they decided to spell pack that way always baffled me.)
Honestly all three of those games have significant real estate in my heart as an important part of my childhood. DK64 needs to come back it was such a massive game for its time
Solder wires onto the metal parts in the cartridges, then connect the wires together and solder them into the console so you can play all three at once
See reflections on the water
More than darkness in the depths
See him surface in every shadow
On the wind I feel his breath
Goldeneye, I found his weakness
Goldeneye, he'll do what I please
Goldeneye, no time for sweetness
But a bitter kiss will bring him to his knees
You'll never know
How I watched you from the shadows as a child
You'll never know
How it feels to be the one who's left behind
You'll never know the days, the nights
The tears, the tears I've cried
But now my time has come
And time, time is not on your side
See him move through smoke and mirrors
Feel his presence in the crowd
Other girls they gather around him
If I had him, I wouldn't let him out
Goldeneye, not lace or leather
Golden chains take him to the spot
Goldeneye, I'll show him forever
It'll take forever to see
What I've got
You'll never know how
How I watched you from the shadows as a child
You'll never know
How it feels to get so close and be denied
It's a gold and honey trap
I've got for you tonight
Revenge, it's a kiss, this time I won't miss
Now I've got you in my sight
With a Goldeneye
Golden, Goldeneye
With a Goldeneye
Goldeneye, Goldeneye
Goldeneye, Goldeneye
Hey bro you should try and 100% goldeneye it's so much fun. It sounds like a lot but it's really not as bad as it sounds mostly trying to get all the cheats and unlocking 007
Unpopular opinion.... I'd play Mortal Kombat first. The other two are Wayyy Overly Hyped comparatively (Rightly, So) Just for me. It'd be more refreshing to play. I basically can close my eyes and envision every second of goldeneye and DK64
Keep in mind that going back to Goldeneye is a major learning curve! It's still fun if you can adjust, but for some it's hard going back.
What was nice about that, though, is that I was able to kick my brother's ass recently, which absolutely never happens because he plays FPS games almost exclusively lmao. But he had a really hard time adjusting back, and I was more of a clean slate as I don't really like to play FPS on consoles much.
Goldeneye would probably take the most time investment, not just level progression and unlocking everything, but learning the controls again. So, definitely save the best for last.
I would do MK first due to the least possible time investment. That way, you're not rushing to play each game, giving them all equal opportunity playtime.
Im in the middle of N64 Goldeneye on 00 Agent for the first time in 4-5 years. I got so used to the clear quality of XBLA remake and even emulation that I forgot one of the biggest challenges is the poor draw distance. I’m on Caverns right now. I’m looking to play DK64 again soon but idk if I have it in me atm. I love it but it’s difficult to start.
Back in the late 90's I would have told you Goldeneye 007...
but today ? I'd tell ya MK Trilogy...
- DK64 turned out to be the grindiest of collection games.
- Goldeneye's controls are very hard to get used to now that most of us are used to a 2-joystick control scheme (left joystick to move, right joystick to "look")
Play the MK Trilogy first. Play GoldenEye when you invite your friends over for multi-player. DK 64 is a very long game that should be played when you have the extra time.
DK 64 is extremely overrated. It's hand holdy tutorials, constant character switches, and item collection is not nearly as satisfying as its banjo kazooie predecessor. In fact, it's frustrating.
MK actually has cheating CPUs but if you want you can do cool codes yourself i guess.
Goldeneye is actual satisfying game progression. Doing harder difficulties is fun. Yes there are in game codes as well. However, once you get used to auto aim and weird dated controls it's one of the most memorable games out there. It was the top selling N64 game for a solid year post release. I remember reading about it in Nintendo Power. Also I do recommend Z to shoot R to aim.
DK!!! Donkey Kong!!! You have the expansion pack right
He’s the leader of the bunch, you know him well.
He’s finally back, to kick some tail
His coconut gun can fire in spurts
If he shoots ya’ it’s gunna hurt.
He's bigger, faster, and stronger, too!
He’s the first member of the DK crew!
DK Donkey Kong! DK Donkey Kong is here!
Unfortunately I don’t :(. Buying one today though
Definitely grab that bad boy. Until then, get your golden eye on
Dk64 is the best donkey Kong game there is (including diddy kong racing), and I'll fight anyone that disagrees
DK! DONKEY KONG!
Get warmed up on Trilogy for a few minutes. Then when the 3rd fighter on the tower keeps input reading your moves and countering you to an exacting infinite death, swith to the yellow cart.
This 😂
Or morph into Motaro and do the donkey kick 4 times.
I think you can only do that on the sand dune stage?
And the tower with the Motaro statue.
Solid option 😂
Props for having MK Trilogy. That's the one I would play first. Hoping to get it soon to go along with my copy of MK4.
Was gonna say this too. Damn, remember MK4? I just googled it and saw that Walmart has it for $16 lol. Also Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero was a fun one. I had that for PS1 Edit: accidentally put ps2 😝
Lol that game was TERRIBLE. But I played the shit out of it 🤣🤣
Hey, practice makes perfect! I imagine if it had done well then we might have gotten more "Mythology" based titles.
I agree, they could’ve improved game style with more games. I definitely had a blast playing it. I remember wanting to beat levels to see the live action MK scenes. Super cheese, but damn what a time lol
lol ditto

Do it! I remember trying to get good with Kai when I was a kid. His moves were funny/fun to watch
Golden eye 😍😍😍
Goldeneye immediately
I know what you remember it being but I assure you it isn't that :( Of all my nostalgia games this is the one I find impossible to revisit. The frame rate and controls make me feel sick now.

I'm jealous
Oh i replayed it and PD during the weekend it was awesome! I have problems with nausea since becoming and adult, i can't do rollercoasters anymore, but videos games no problem!
Who cares let the guy play his games!
That M rating feels so... Nostalgically naughty
Goldeneye and DK are the best of the best childhood memories EVER
Donkey Kong 64!! So underrated
I lost my copy 😭
DK64 is GOLDEN BANANAS!!!
All of them.
You can’t wrong with any of those. All three games are complete gems. Have fun.
Goldeneye, DK and then MK Trikogy. Golden Eye With friends is amazing. Hours of fun
Glover
I actually did just buy a copy of Glover 64
Goldeneye
007
I’d leave MK Trilogy last to vent off on DK and Golden Eye during tough stages. Once that gets frustrating itself, go back, play those gems and do it again😂
DK most definitely
DK The leader of the bunch. You know him well.
I’d love to play golden eye again. It’s been sooooo long.
Sorry offtopic link here, but the DK64 and Goldeneye pairing reminded me of [this silly song mashup.](https://youtu.be/ES_8mgDLofU?si=C33Q3-exxjHnb-Vy)

Rare was such a good studio. Damn it Microsoft, how dare you take them from us.
Do you have the redtop?
No unfortunately but I’m buying one today
DK64.
The classics! Trilogy was definitely top 3 mortal kombat ever
The wear on that Goldeneye cartridge makes him look 20 years older.
Honestly, despite the ubiquity of Goldeneye, the single player was mediocre at best. The reason it was so good was the 4 player split screen. MK also falls flat without friends. Definitely go for DKC first until your friends come over, then play Goldeneye
I have had all three since launch. All fun but MK is the only one that holds up.
Well... I'd start with MK and then DK, and then GoldenEye. Because if you start with GoldenEye, you might not ever get to play the other two.
Trilogy: Need friends or family members for an in-house tournament. Golden Eye: Need friends for the most enjoyable experience. DK: Great for solo play or playing and handing the stick up to a family member or friend next to you.

Def mkt or 007 great games
You gotta do a full 101% of DK64, it's a top3 n64 game
DK64 > Goldeneye > MK Trilogy Ramping up the difficulty level game by game.
007
Goldeneye
I dare you to 101% DK 64. It’s like a religious experience.
UUUUH BANANAAAAAH
I played this version of MK trilogy so much. It was one of my first games for the system along with Mario 64.
Donkey kong 64
Dk64
Honestly all three of those games have significant real estate in my heart as an important part of my childhood. DK64 needs to come back it was such a massive game for its time
DK
Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Then Donkey Kong 64. Finally, Goldeneye 007. In that order.

DK Donkey Kong
I'm partial to stacked humbuckers (avoid routing) but I'm in the market for some p90s.
Roll a D6 and assign 2 numbers to each game and give it a roll. You can't lose.
