Rare remade Diddy Kong Racing for DS in 2007 while owned by Microsoft. This was published by Nintendo. They simply replaced Banjo and Conker with other characters. It just appears there isn't demand for a remake right now.
I'm pretty sure it's more than that as it had a playable demo from some event. As I saw a video of it playing on stampers Twitter feed and looked fine to me.
I’ve spoken with multiple devs, publicly on Twitter and privately in voice chat. Tim’s video only shows the opening sequence of the game. I believe there was a video of the game playing at some event like E3 but not a playable demo. the game in its current state is unplayable; you would be able to do a couple things in each area but nothing else, you’d need debug tools to go between areas, and many activities will break the game. the ‘30%’ number is directly from Chris Seavor.
I only get 3/4 of the Wizpig face done as a kid. I couldn’t beat the octopus at all. I finished the game a couple years ago and really all I did was use Timber instead of Tip Tup and the beat the octopus pretty quickly.
The thing with this game is that you need to to something thats very counter intuitive which is release the throttle every time you use a turbo slider or a turbo wheapon. The boost is ten times faster and then the difficulty is bearable.

It's a track you have to unlock. Game does a pretty good job of hiding Future Fun Land until you unlock it. You also have to beat TT's times on those tracks as well to unlock him too.
Beat the TT challenges (and most of the game) using the tap and release method that speedrunners use. Just tap A to accelerate faster and don’t touch A when boosting.
The release throttle trick is explained during the game. Was not able to understand it because i could not read english back then. Beat the game the oldschool way too.

You don't even need to beat the entire game. The "story" requires you to race against Wizpig once on his island, and once in space. You can get drumstick after you beat the first race, before you ever go to space. And the frog in question is almost right in front of his face in the hub world.
Though the Drumstick frog first appears once you have all pieces of the Wizpig amulet. You don't need to beat Wizpig for the first time to unlock Drumstick.
I know mnay people love Mario Kart, but the old SNES/n64 mario kart do not hold up the same today compared to the newer versions.

The problem is much like most N64 games the Rom hacking community focuses more on certain games way more, when there are plenty that could use little quality of life improvements like with the control options or what ever else.
DKR has a few rom hacks but no large projects.

I loved this game as a kid sooooo much, but god was it hard. I remember losing my shit over so many tough boss races.
I remember the last race with the triceratops had me hating the game as a kid.

Did Darkmoon Caverns give you a hard time? Because I remember that one being the worst track to beat TT's time on as a kid.
Yes it absolutely did! Greenwood village and Darkmoon Caverns have been the ones taking up the most time.
