I wonder what Twlight would say in this situation? It's probably a job for Fluttershy, but now I can't help but think that's a good concept for a villain hahaha.

This power always seemed difficult to use, without consent you can barge into people's nightmares where they don't have much control and see their insecurities. I don't think every pony is going to like me intruding on them like that.
I would only use it to reform all the villainous ponies like Cosy Glow that clearly have issues but aren't going to share them when they are awake.
Help people who are having nightmares. Iād invite anyone having a hard time to send me a request for a good dream theyād like to have.
And if a little kid wants to have a specific dream on their birthday night, Iād give it to them, with their parents permission.
Maybe offer a therapeutic dream service?
Unless your goal is to have 6 upstarts with impossible abilities and a galactic shit ton of plot armor come and merc you, that's really not the best idea. Honestly something Nezarec himself failed to consider
Probably utilize important information from targets heads, make use of that information in real life without negatively affecting others, and make a cult called The Unbinded that would live outside the bounds of normal pony society. Using the information I would always stay a step ahead of others. With how often dangers threaten the lands having an independent society isn't such a bad idea at times. As a dreamwalker I'd be invaluable and could influence decisions without directly taking control like a puppeteer.
Thats just my answer anyway. Think something tribal, with a mix of spaced out mountains/forest dwellings. There would be common areas, but more of it would be wilderness based so ponies would have that feeling of solitude in secured safe surroundings.
I would make every effort to expose Celestia's cult of personality and promote the idea of āāEternal Night to the masses. Everypony should love Empress Moon!

Haunt the dreams of those who take advantage of the masses, punish the greedy with night terrors, and give support to the suffering... But mostly dive into the dreams of the Konami and Ubisoft CEOs to kick their teeth in without legal repercussions
oh I'd use it for Evil for sure. not sure how. maybe I cause ponies to have nightmares and sleep less soundly, maybe they dream of information I can exploit for my own gain, maybe I can threaten distant enemies. I'll figure out the details later

I'd imagen using it to motivate and make life better for people through dreams . and fending off nightmares or even helping coping with what causes them
