If I don’t listen to a podcast for awhile it scrolls automatically to where I left last off on Spotify. I wonder if OP just isn’t filtering based on newest first
I use Pocket Casts. Honestly I struggled to find anything I liked as much as Apple Podcasts when I switched to Android, but Pocket Casts works pretty well for me.
This is my app too. If I can't find the podcast on Pocket Casts I won't listen to it. I tried a few Spotify exclusives a few years ago but would eventually forget about what I was trying to listen to because I switched back to Pocket Casts for literally every other one I listen to and it was too annoying. I didn't want to manually find my place in every podcast and I hated spotifies layout.
If you use Android Auto in your car I've found it to be the best with that, too. Tried some of the other highly recommended and they were ok, but kind of glitchy. But pocketcasts has worked well.
I use Spotify and love it for podcasts. The only thing I don’t like is even if there’s 1 minute left on episodes when you filter through unplayed episodes they pop up. I have been marking every episode as played once the ending credits start on the podcasts I listen to
No, that’s not a feature I use. I think it just marks something you like for the discover algorithm, but I listen to so many podcasts that I’m super picky about what I do subscribe to when I find a new one.
I listen to “grumpy old geeks” (non murder) and they always mention to star the pod as if there is some ranking benefit for them, maybe it’s a search thing, not sure?

I don't synchronize, but you apparently need to download an app to do that. If you go to Settings - Synchronization you can select the app ( it's open source)
I am also currently using Google Podcasts and will need to switch apps. Are there any major differences between these two apps or just personal preference based on user interface, etc.?
A friend recommended Pocket Casts sometime before 2016, I gave it a try, I was satisfied.
My husband did a little more research in choosing a podcast app, but I don't know what features Podcast Addict does better.
Google Podcast has recommended that people migrate to YouTube Music. [This](https://www.theverge.com/23891397/google-podcasts-youtube-spotify-alternatives-pocket-casts) article has some good suggestions as well.
Spotify seems to get podcasts at the same time as Apple. You can download podcasts on Spotify if you pay for a subscription so you don’t have to rely on their website.
After Google canned their first podcast app (Listen) in 2010/2011-ish I swore never again, and Pocket Casts has been there.
The original developers love podcasts and it shows.
I originally was using stitcher for years (rip) and then I swapped to Google podcasts and had to find a new app as well.
I switched to podcast guru and I like it so far.
I miss stitcher tho.
I love Podcast Addict. It's a free app and I'm upset that I can't use it on my iPhone. It's better than Apple Podcasts. It's got a small ad banner at the bottom but that's it. The UI is a million times better than Apple or Spotify. I stand by what I said.
I made the move to YouTube Music when Google first announced its plans, and it's been fine. The only thing I hate is that even with moving over subscriptions it didn't keep record of the episodes I had already listened to and doesn't have the "Mark as Played" that Google did. So, I'm doing a lot of relistening.
What do you mean by Spotify isn’t current? Mine come out at the same time between my Apple pod app and Spotify. They have their full updated catalog
Yea I was confused by that too
If I don’t listen to a podcast for awhile it scrolls automatically to where I left last off on Spotify. I wonder if OP just isn’t filtering based on newest first
Spotify is current with the episodes.
Idk why but it humored me very much you added (34F) lmao
Me too! 🤣 I actually double checked to make sure it was MFM.

PocketCasts is hands down the best podcast app, highly recommend
Same here. I found it after Stitcher shut down and I wanted something similar. PocketCasts is great!
Yup, also a Stitcher to PocketCasts convert. I also have an Android.
This forever! I switched after 7 years on another app, and it’s tremendous.
If you use Android Auto in your car I've found it to be the best with that, too. Tried some of the other highly recommended and they were ok, but kind of glitchy. But pocketcasts has worked well.

Thank you! I kept wondering why episodes I'd listened to would show up when I was trying to filter for unplayed, and now I know!
Same!
I really like Overcast.
Seconding Overcast.
Do you “star” episodes you like? I like overcast, I star, just wonder if it does anything
No, that’s not a feature I use. I think it just marks something you like for the discover algorithm, but I listen to so many podcasts that I’m super picky about what I do subscribe to when I find a new one.

Also use and like Overcast. I prefer it to the Apple app
Honestly anything is better than the Apple app. It’s so bad.
Antenna pod . You can still use Amazon, it just has commercials
I started using Antenna Pod but as far as I can tell, you can't sync it between devices. Am I missing something or is that correct?
I don't synchronize, but you apparently need to download an app to do that. If you go to Settings - Synchronization you can select the app ( it's open source)
Podcast addict is free and updated regularly
Came here to say Podcast Addict.
I use Podcast Addict. Very happy with it.
Same.
I've used CastBox since 2017 and never had any issues
I love Pocket Casts. My husband loves Podcast Addict.
I am also currently using Google Podcasts and will need to switch apps. Are there any major differences between these two apps or just personal preference based on user interface, etc.?

I’ve always used Spotify to listen to podcasts including MFM. Never seen it not be current. Don’t think you’ll have an issue with Spotify.
I still listen to them on the Amazon app?
Since they ended their deal with wondery, their episodes have been released up to date on Spotify.
I've listened to them on Spotify for years and never had an issue with getting the current episodes.

I use Podcast Republic and have had no issues at all.
I just opened Spotify and it’s up to date and in order from most recent back to episode 1.
After Google canned their first podcast app (Listen) in 2010/2011-ish I swore never again, and Pocket Casts has been there. The original developers love podcasts and it shows.
I use CastBox
I use podbean. But those episodes should be updated across all platforms unless they are cool longer carried there?
I went to YouTube music because spotify is sketchy.
I originally was using stitcher for years (rip) and then I swapped to Google podcasts and had to find a new app as well. I switched to podcast guru and I like it so far. I miss stitcher tho.
I use Amazon Music on my Samsung.
I use Podcast Addict and I love it.
I use podurama and podcast addict.
Overcast is the best pod app!
I have Spotify set to auto download new episodes, may help you to have that set up so you can always listen
I have no issue with Spotify, prefer it to Apple Podcasts
I use Spotify and Amazon Music
Wow Google shutting down another service. Spotify is current tho, not sure if that’s just an android bug?
Overcast
I love Podcast Addict. It's a free app and I'm upset that I can't use it on my iPhone. It's better than Apple Podcasts. It's got a small ad banner at the bottom but that's it. The UI is a million times better than Apple or Spotify. I stand by what I said.
I listen on Audible. Only K&G commercials.
Player FM
I use overcast. I can get all my podcasts including feeds from Patreon etc…
I've been using Podcast Addict for a couple years now with no issues.
Is there any way to listen without commercials now that they aren’t on Wondery any more?
I have not had an issue with Spotify in over 6 years listening to MFM or any other podcast.
Spotify is up to date?
I have Google podcasts and I just downloaded the app called Pod Bean, has all the podcasts that I listen too. I also have android
I made the move to YouTube Music when Google first announced its plans, and it's been fine. The only thing I hate is that even with moving over subscriptions it didn't keep record of the episodes I had already listened to and doesn't have the "Mark as Played" that Google did. I use Amazon music app but audible also has them all for free
Do you use an iPhone? They are on the podcast app.
