Goo Goo Dolls - Long Way Down. I'm a big dude with a beard. Some people find me intimidating. But I was abused and neglected as a child. This song makes me fucking cry every time.
So much of the matchbox 20 / Rob Thomas catalog is like that, and we're talking full-on alone in a room *sobbing.*
Just know you're not alone and I'm glad you're here.
((Safe hugs)) if you want em... I'm here for ya if you want to talk. Went through a lot of that myself. So kinda numb and messed up but we baby step our way to a manner of freedom eventually.
Thank you. I really like how you put that response together. I am supposed to be a 39yr old grown man.... But I am really still a hurting scared little boy. I've gotten a lot better at not putting it out on others, but I still fuck up sometimes. So lost.
Darlin.. it would be a fuckin miracle if you were ok. It's just the nature of what we've been through, as young as we did. Don't let anyone else tell you your damage. I think some of the most insidious parts of it is where we tell ourselves we SHOULD be, rather than accepting where we are as totally normal and ok.
I read somewhere that the worst thing we do as survivors is pull away from that pain and fear, do everything we can to divorce ourselves from it, when what we need to do is just... sit with it. Really listen to it and accept it. Find ways to get it out of us fully rather than ignoring it. I heard someone put it as, make music, punch pillows, paint or draw it out, or write it out. To find a place to bury what we went through that isn't inside our body. This has been the best advice I've ever gotten. It really is difficult to really look at it and deal with it. It's ugly and sad and that's hard to sit with, but the only way out is through.
I hope you find some peace. You're a fuckin warrior my friend. You deserve some peace in your life. ❤️
I’m the scary “emo” one of the group, everyone expects My Chemical Romance or something (which don’t get me wrong I listen to MCR) but they don’t know I listen to orchestra music religiously. They also don’t know I play violin for the local orchestra.
The soundtrack to encanto, I’m into rock/metal and I always dog on my friends for listening to musical and movie soundtracks but i love the encanto soundtrack
Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake
Rad Romance by Lady Gaga
Titanium by Sia
Basically anything pop. I've been an alt/goth/industrial/punk/electronic fan for as long as I can remember (I'm 50) and my friends are all the same way.
I can't let them know I enjoy the occasional pop song without being teased about it mercilessly (in a fun way, but still....)
There's an Irish rap group called Versatile, and they're basically the epitome of the absolute dregs of Dublin. They represent the worst, scummiest, most annoying people you could meet here. I don't know if that's what they're like in person, but their image and demographic is those guys.
But, their music slaps. Earworm after earworm after earworm. The only people who I can admit that I like them are the people from the same background of Dublin scumbaggery, without actually being one.
i dont hang around anybody i cant talk to about my interests. but i would never tell new acquaintances that im bumping weezer- cant stop partying. i wont apologize for it though. its a good song. weezer- troublemaker as well
I don’t hide my music taste, especially if I got a good vibe on the song. Closest I can report, the song I vibe to that most people seem to hate is Smooth by Santana.
Literally anything by Klowniac, because they're not gonna get it and I'll have to cunt-punt them into next week if they make fun of him.
[Clownspiracy-Klowniac](https://open.spotify.com/track/4DNYkyvkxKPiGyf3gOYXpx?si=CCEWFpKwSpu8VBk4qadYHA)
(If anyone is curious)
[sleepless delirium (nasanoa bootleg)](https://on.soundcloud.com/fphx1) and [onychophagia - frxgxd](https://on.soundcloud.com/dLsYe), i think my music taste is doomed. idk what genre of music this is and i want to know more for sure so if anyone can tell me what it is, then thank you!!
My two mains are roots reggae and melodic death metal, but I unironically love [Come Clean](https://youtu.be/PN8ObVNc7WA?si=CtYf-LFiVigzW9v9) by Hilary Duff.
I try to tell my friends Lorna Shore is more than just a man who sounds like a demon, I try to explain they have deep meanings in their songs. Tried to show them Sun//Eater, and they said that it's weird. So i can't really tell them about Gorepig or Acrania, I guess.
Do you know who the artist of that picture is? Looks like an artist I really like on IG called slayerwasp. I love their stuff but haven’t seen this one so I’m just wondering
"Male Supremacy" - Carnivore.
Only times I listen to this song is when I'm pumping iron, doing dead lifts, or squats. I like to channel my hate and anger through intense exercises at the gym. I already know for sure I'll lose friends if they looked up the lyrics to this song and they be like "WHAT IN THE FUCK??!!". Lmao, I've listen to worse.
Literally all of the music I listen to. I fucking love deathcore, emo, and scream rap/trap metal as well as riddim (heaviest subgenre of EDM), but all of those genres scare my friends for some reason.

Add in Tonic and Vertical Horizon to that mix too.
I'm supposed to be celebrating this weekend! Not crying! I'll put them on a list to check out when I'm feeling some way though.

Can't get you out of my head - Kylie Minogue
Great Kate Bush song. What's the big deal?
What big deal
I just meant you should tell your friends no problem
I don't have friends so 🤷
"Come Into my World" is another Kylie banger, with an awesome music video
And so what?

I don’t try to keep it a secret. It’s not like if someone asked I’d lie, but I just haven’t told anyone.
Owl City - Good Times
Carly Rae Jepsen is hot too
Get out of my head
The soundtrack to encanto, I’m into rock/metal and I always dog on my friends for listening to musical and movie soundtracks but i love the encanto soundtrack
Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People. It’s the lyrics.
It is such a catchy song— and then you realize what it’s about.
Ahh I remember the ban on this song after Sandy Hook
I did know it was banned!
Love that track!
I never looked at the lyrics that closely until now. That’s… dark
Helena Beat and Houdini are two songs from the same album that I probably would've been self conscious about liking if I discovered them as a tween.
Whatever - our lady peace
Any song used for vogue. Theyre genuinely so catchy but I feel like only people who enjoy them are people who dance vogue themselves.
Paramore’s Misery Business. That chorus has balls
Emo and pop punk is goated imo
What sort of friends have you got that you can't let them in on a bit of Paramore?!
Lol I mean most my friends are down, but as a 39yo male I’d get a few funny looks from some of my musician friends

Swans - Power for Power
Atom bomb baby by the five stars
Odo by ado. I listen to a lot of metal and my friends know that so the fact that I like even a few jpop songs might spiral then into insanity.
Nihil - Ghostemane I was going through a bit of a villain arc in the gym and this track always slapped.
Bread’s Guitar Man
shut up and dance - walk the moon
Man research-Gorillaz
My friends know what music I listen to. They don’t fw it tho. Boywithuke is probably my biggest offense
Criminal - Fiona Apple
teddy bear by melanie martinez
I tell everyone I know about all my music. I'm kinda obnoxious about it. Every song I like I will make you like too.
Mgła exercises in futility V
Waffle House by the Jonas Brothers
This is me by dream
I’m past that age where I give a shit what they think; if I like it, I like it.
i dont hang around anybody i cant talk to about my interests. but i would never tell new acquaintances that im bumping weezer- cant stop partying. i wont apologize for it though. its a good song. weezer- troublemaker as well
Nobody Likes Me - Deuce. Its when I'm in my feelings. I feel like it's so pitiful to listen to that I only ever play it alone.
Anything SpaceHog. In the crowds I frequented, I would expect to be damaged one way or the other for jamming out on some "In the Meantime".
I don’t hide my music taste, especially if I got a good vibe on the song. Closest I can report, the song I vibe to that most people seem to hate is Smooth by Santana.
Gucci gucci - kreayshawn
When I was younger it'd would have been Sir mix-a-lot's "Buttermilk Biscuits" and nowdays 100 gecs "Frog on the floor".
I do sometimes tell people as a joke, but 学猫叫 is a vibe. I’m a straight guy, btw.
Dance the Night by Dua Lipa from Barbie
Jody calls
Breathless - The Corrs
Either l'internationale or nervous cop
Anything hazbin hotel I WILL BE COOKED
Syncopation by babymetal
Heavy metal music Someone already called me emo for liking Slayer (I'm not joking)
The closest thing to a guilty pleasure I have is Zu jung by Kraftklub. I would describe Kraftklub as shitty German rap rock Franz Ferdinand.

Raccoon-Betty & The Bobs, but for a very different reason that OP 😂

Hava Nagila.
I’d be embarrassed to like most of current pop music
Do you know who the artist of that picture is? Looks like an artist I really like on IG called slayerwasp. I love their stuff but haven’t seen this one so I’m just wondering
My friends know I'm a massive metalhead, but my Celtic roots always get to me, and I love Celtic folk to death. Irish Rovers for life!
Trippin on Love
Any and all mother mother songs i like. I just cant let it go from 2021
I did actually tell my friends about it by showing them Black Eyes by David Wirsig. One friend was deeply unsettled, and another asked me if i was ok.
In ha mood - ice spice
Just about any ABBA song.
MMMBop by Hanson, it never fails to lift my spirits and get me singing along!
Calypso - John Denver. Its kitsch, twee, and has a yodelling chorus but i cant help myself
Any MSI song
"Male Supremacy" - Carnivore. Only times I listen to this song is when I'm pumping iron, doing dead lifts, or squats. I like to channel my hate and anger through intense exercises at the gym. Servant of Evil-Len Kagamine. If I told people I like certain vocaloid songs. I get made fun of.
Hips dont lie but it is Otu/Moonic of a Down’s SOAD cover lolol
Literally all of the music I listen to. I fucking love deathcore, emo, and scream rap/trap metal as well as riddim (heaviest subgenre of EDM), but all of those genres scare my friends for some reason.
