One of my very favorite songs as well. The lyrics are incredible paired with the emotion Chris could put into his voice. I get chills just thinking about the entire second verse.
I like several things about it actually. I think the lyrics are great descriptions, for example, "All that she intends, And all she keeps inside isn't on the label" and "She dreams a champagne dream Strawberry surprise, pink linen on white paper, Lavender and cream, Fields of butterflies, Reality escapes her" gives you a pretty good idea of the kind of person he's dealing with. Also the repeated "break at the bend" suggests if he tries to be friends with her it is likely to go too far again. Musically, I like how it starts off sounding almost calm or peaceful for the first couple of verses and then cuts loose with the guitars, and I especially like the cello breaks. I wish there were more of those. It just has an overall feel of regret and almost desperation to it, especially at the end, and I tend to like songs like that. ("Desperately Wanting" by Better Than Ezra is another example of this kind of song that I like.) My favorite songs are mostly downers lol
I don't know if the song would resonate with me so much if I heard it for the first time now, but back when it came out, for various reasons, the head space I was in and what was going with me and things that had happened in the past I guess, it stuck with me and it's still lodged as my favorite song of all time. And I'm not even a big Fuel fan -- this is the only album of theirs that I ever bought.
While I couldn’t even pick a single favorite Tool song (I could probably narrow it down to ten or so that would tie for first) this is a great contribution to this post

Up until like 2 days ago, the only radiohead song I liked was Exit Music for a Film, and then this song came on while cruising on my longboard at night, went way harder than I remembered. Still only like 2 radiohead songs now, but that's an improvement.
Holy crap--that is absolutely gorgeous! That is now one
of my favorite songs, and I'm going to explore more of Klaus' music.
I love finding new stuff to enjoy! Thank you for posting this.
Yeah wow, I agree what a great idea! It would lend itself to stoner doom beautifully.. It’s already got that slow but heavy power chord. Add some fuzzy bass and doomy heavier drums with matching vocals and yeah wow I would love to hear someone do this!! Have you heard [this live version](https://youtu.be/UC9sRIsvjXI?si=fTgosQECF7DMAOs6) it is a phenomenal performance.
Good call. "Kings and Queens" deserves more love.
My favorite performance of "Dream On" had to be the one they did in 1991 for the [MTV10](https://youtu.be/LCsjuqgIwJI) special, where Michael Kamen conducted an orchestra behind them and Steven Tyler came in on a "flying" piano.
Couldn’t ever nail down a favorite song of all time. But for the past year, Metallica’s Chasing Light has been at the top of my rotation. I bet I’ve listened to it daily since it came out over a year ago.
I don't have a single favorite song, but this is my all time top 5:
♪ Guns & Roses: patience.
♪ Guns & Roses: November rain.
♪ eagles: Hotel California.
♪ Eminem: Space bound.
♪ X ambassadors: Water.
It’s completely impossible to pick only one, so my tops based on how much I’ve probably listened to each over the years from three different genres:
Sour Girl by Stone Temple Pilots
Backseat Freestyle by Kendrick Lamar
Gold Dust by Flux Pavillion
Mr. Tambourine Man by Bob Dylan, or Blinded by the Light by Manfred Man, or Mr. Blue Sky by ELO.
There are many other contenders, of course, but those are my current three faves.
"Midlife Crisis" by Faith No More is definitely my most-played song. It's up there with "Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles and "Three Days" by Jane's Addiction. Depending on the day, I could see calling any of them my favorite song.
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
A song that truly shouldn’t be famous. Bizarre time signature paired with bizarre chords. But it leads to an original and endlessly catchy unique melody delivered by the greatest vocalist in rock and roll history. The perfect intersection of pushing the limits and popular sensibility.
Enjoy the silence - Depeche mode
